Hi,

After watching a build guide video that Anthony posted on the Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel, I thought I might have a crack at making my own computer.

It's mainly gonna be used for watching videos (from YouTube, Netflix, Stan [an Australian streaming service], etc.) and playing some games that my previous two laptop computers have been woefully inadequate for. I tried to get similar parts to the ones Anthony used, but given that some would cost bucketloads to get shipped from the US, I'm went with parts that are shippable from a company located in Australia.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Motherboard: MSI B450M Pro M2 Max
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 (2x8GB) DDR4
Storage: ADATA XPG SX6000 Pro M.2 NVMe SSD 256GB
              Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM008 3.5in HDD
Video Card: MSI GeForce GT 1030 Low Profile OC 2GB
Case: Thermaltake Versa H18 Window Micro Chassis
PSU: Corsair CX650 650W 80+ Bronze
Add-ons: TP-Link Archer T4E Dual Band Wireless AC1200 PCI-E Adapter (for the gaming and video streaming)

the GT 1030 is pretty overpriced and you won't need 650 watts, drop the PSU to 550 and consider the Ryzen 5 2400G or even 3400G, the integrated graphics would deliver a similar experience.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Given the price difference between AUD and USD - the GT 1030 is actually the cheaper of the options (especially given most of the games [Battlefield, Need for Speed, Wolfenstein series, etc.] I have in mind to load onto the computer wouldn't meet the minimum/recommended requirements if I chose a CPU with integrated graphics)

The wattage I chose for the PSU was to account for any upgrades I may want to do to the PC in the long-run - I may even eventually put in an extra cooling system

with the cheapest GT 1030 coming in over $100 AUD, I can hardly say it's worth it, and those are likely the DDR4 models which aren't worth it for any price. A GT 1030 with GDDR5 would not produce a noticeably better result over a 2400G, and I don't see how a Ryzen 5 2600 and a 1030 is cheaper than a 2400G. The games you named would still be loaded onto a PC that doesn't meet the requirements if you aim for such low end hardware, might as well not buy the CPU and GPU separate for a bunch of extra money.

as for upgrades, unless you plan on a 12 core and 2080 ti, 550 watts will take care of you for a long time to come.
