Bios cant read ram

Hi! Earlier today i cleaned my pc and replaced the thermal paste I booted the pc and turns on the problem is that my pc does not read the ram anymore... windows detect the memory but it has only has 3.96 usable on it rather than the max 8gb memory I tried unchecking in msconfig and tried swapping the ram slot but to no avail... i have 2 rams 1600mhz whenever i try to run my pc in a single ram my pc wont boot and when i try placing 2 rams it does boot but with again with the 3.96 usable can you please help me thank you

This happens sometimes. But if swapping didn't solve the problem, it's possible that one of the sticks is faulty.

 

Try running it single channel with one stick then the other and see if there's one of them that isn't picked up (that is, if you haven't tried that yet).

 

Edit: Sorry, you said that single channel doesn't work. Try dual channel anyway and check your RAM capacity with CPU-Z, HWinfo or Aida 64. See if they're showing the same values.
