Hello,

I recently bought some 3200 MHz 16gb Trident Z memory. As expected, it didn't run at full 3200MHz by default. To fix this, I tried enabling the XMP profile in my BIOS and that didn't change the speed. So then I tried manually setting the speed to 3200MHz and when I rebooted the system, it would turn off after a few seconds and then do that in a loop until I got into the BIOS again. Then I tried upping the voltage a little (from 1.35 to 1.4) and the same thing happened. I don't want to go above 1.4.

How can I make my memory run at advertised speed?

Ryzen 5 2600

Asrock AB350 Pro4

2x 8GB 3200MHz GSkill Trident Z

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

check the motherboards QVL

you might need to get a different kit Ryzen was very picky on RAM kits and XMP

Thanks for the reply,

But I'm 100% sure that's not the problem. Source: My brother has an exactly identical system and his is able to run perfectly at 3200MHz after he enabled the XMP profile.

check bios revisions, kit part numbers, etc....

there are many different variants of the trident z ram with different latencies

for example, I have 32GB of rijpjaws V there are 4 kits listed on PCPartPicker

F4-3200C16D-32GVKA

F4-3200C15D-32GVK

F4-3200C14D-32GVK

F4-3200C16D-32GVK I have this one, but there are 3 other kits with different dies/cas latencies

Thanks again,

My memory kit is F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW. Listed latency CL16-18-18-38. Listed voltage 1.35v. Just checked in my BIOS and the timings and voltage are both correct. 3200MHz still won’t work.

that kit isn't on the support list for 3200Mhz ram the 2 below are the only g.skill 3200 Mhz supported (and neither run at stated speeds)

DDR4 G.Skill 3200 3066 8GB F4-3200C16D-16GTZR   SS 2 v
DDR4 G.Skill 3200 2933 16GB F4-3200C14Q2-128GTZR   DS 2

OK after looking around, I think I may have put the sticks into the wrong slots. I confused slot 1 for slot 4. After reseating the ram in the new correct slots, the PC turns on for a few seconds then off in a loop. My monitor receives no signal during this time so I can’t get into the BIOS

OK I fixed it and everything is working fine and my RAM is running at the advertised speeds -- The issue was that they were in the wrong slots.

In my experience, it not being on the QVL doesn't mean much. RAM is RAM.

what slots did you put them in? mine are in slot 2 and 4. i have 3000 mhz RAM but defaults at 2133...was thinking of messing with XMP like you

At first I had them in 1 and 3 but now they're in 2 and 4 like they should be.
