I'm going to upgrade to r7 3700x either now or later, i have a r5 1600 so im going to obviously sell it to take a little bit of the cost off the upgrade. Would you guys buy a 3700x now, selling the r5 1600 now, or wait until ryzen 4th gen releases and buy a 3700x then when it inevitably undergoes a price cut, however my r5 1600 will be worth even less. So what would you guys do with the main goal being to pay the least amount of money as possible

one thing I will probs have to take into consideration is that is anyone going to actually want to buy a 1600 when the 4th gen comes out, probs not, only at a very reduced price, where as 1600's are going for around $150 aud now, so basically i have to determine if the drop in price of the 3700x when 4th gen comes is equal to, less than or more than the depreciation of my 1600

Considering Ryzen 3rd gen dropped yesterday, you are going to have quite a long wait till gen 4.

What are these for?

true, i'm using a 1080ti so my oc'd 1600 is becoming a bit of a bottleneck on 180hz 1080p, even on my 1440p 144hz monitor

The next generation is scheduled for late 2020 or early 2021 and currently still on schedule.

It will be a refresh of the current version, don't expect too much of it.

next and last am4 shall be Zen 2 refresh in 2020, better get that on higher end and keep your current 1600 as secondary PC. as you may want faster ram and better mobo by that time
