Will this CPU upgrade work?

Hi there , i have received a Toshiba Satellite C850-1GL and would like to upgrade the CPU from a Celeron 1000m to an i5-2450m. When i looked at the cpu on the motherboard it is in a  socket but i have heard that the laptop turns off exactly after 30minuets with another cpu placed inside. How would i fix it, and would the cpu upgrade work?
