This ONLY happens while playing a graphically demanding game and after turning off the game. While gaming the temperature is around 75 degrees. While at full load after closing the game it is around 50. While idle it stays around 30-35. I can make it actually go idle by restarting the PC or not starting up any games that stress the GPU. Then it goes to 0% around 30-35 degrees.

The only program that detects the 100% GPU load is MSI Afterburner. CPUID HWMonitor says 0%. Process explorer can't find any processes using the GPU. But something is certainly using the GPU because of the 50 degrees in temperature.

Windows Defender says I am clean. Same from Malwarebytes. Might also run RogueKiller and ADWCleaner but I doubt they will find anything.

You can monitor GPU usage with the performance tab of task manager. See if it is actually stuck at 100% and not just an MSI bug.

If you have been gaming a while, the heat sink on the card will be fully saturated with heat, which will not go away instantly. The fans will stay on for a bit to cool off the card until it reaches idle temp.

all else fails than check for updates. (windows, graphics card, affected programs, firmware, etc.) IF it is a bug with current version, try rolling back an update

0% in task manager as well. But the temperature NEVER drops below 50 degrees to the usual 30-35 idle. Unless I restart the PC or don't start up any games that stress the GPU. Could MSI use up my GPU for no reason? Never did any overclocking.

If Task Manager says 0%, then it is using 0% plain and simple

If youre not overclocking than try uninstalling afterburner

You can also view temps and usage with NZXT's CAM free software, and it also can enable overlays

I uninstalled MSI Afterburner and now I see that my temperature slowly decreases below 50 degrees to the 30-35 idle temperature after turning off games. I have no idea why MSI caused my GPU to heat up.

I dont think it was actually causing it to heat up, i think it was just reporting bad numbers

could be a bug. If you really want to install afterburner (I dont see why if not OC) then try installing an older version, or waiting for an update. Also try updating GPU

The higher temperatures were reported by MSI and CPUID HWmonitor. Pretty much the same temperature around 50. And I could feel the extra heat coming out through the case fans. Now, the air coming out of the case while idle is around the room temperature. The GPU fans are also on 0 RPM while idle now, but they were spinning before uninstalling. I don't think I want to reinstall MSI and see if the heating happens again.

Today I used the GPU for a longer period of time than yesterday and the issue is still here. MSI wasn't causing it. Still stays at around 50 degrees in "idle" after turning off the game unless I restart to actually make it sit idle around 30-35 degrees.
