Hello, thanks for stopping by.

Please can you help me?

I will soon buy a PC upgrade of sorts and want to spend around £100 - £200 ($152 - $305).

There is no way I can exceed this budget.

Thing is, I've been noticing that with my current setup, I've been experiencing frame rate lag with some modern games.

My setup ;

Asus P5Q mobo

Q9550 quad core cpu

HD 6770 GPU

8GB kingston HYPER X ddr2 ram

After a previous question, I decided that I'm going to have to choose between

1. A 1tb Hard Drive *I only have 500gb* and a new modular PSU *cable management right now sucks and I don't want to kill my components because it is a dodgy brand*

2. After 1 when I next get money OR before 1, I want to upgrade to a 2gb HD 7850.

What do?

Thank you!

he q9550 is a relativity strong cpu compared to say a q6600 and the q6600 can hand a gtx 660ti/gtx570 with very mild bottlenecking on single/dual threaded games which is where you will see the first signs of it. so your 6770 is unlikely to be an issue. my guess is your playing at either to high a rez or to high settings above what your gfx can handle. the 6670 is pretty low end comparatively and although its a newish card it still gets beaten out by a lot of older 1s.

as the gfx is pretty much entry level i would say turn down all your ingame quality settings apart from textures. use an fxaa injector instead of using ingame fsaa or other AA settings.

if your fps is still crumpling then drop the screen rez to something like 1440/900.

as for what upgrades? theres nothing worth upgrading on that system. any money you do throw at it will be wasted if your a gamer.

better to save up 450 and buy an new ivy/haswell or jump platform to an amd fx 8350 (nothing lower)

Just save up your money, really it will probably be the best option for you
That does seem like a sensible resolution, however, for the time being I really want to play all the great games that are coming out without frame rate lag /:

So you think the problem is more in the mobo/cpu rather than the gpu?

Thank you for your concern. I will take your words into consideration.
