I purchased a 32GB optane memory for my girlfriends birthday not realizing these were a massive pain to get working. I installed it, installed the software for it. And then the laptop would no longer post. Couldnt get back into the BIOS. I had to take the entire laptop apart just to get at the battery and for whatever reason they put the battery behind the BM of the laptop... After CMOS resetting I managed to get it to boot again and windows started working.

Now she has an ASUS G753VD ROG gaming laptop. But from what I gather it might just not be compatible with optane? I updated the BIOS to 306 but never saw any notes about it adding support. Is there any alternatives to getting this to work or should I just return it to newegg? Would really like to keep it if I can get it working, Windows picks it up just fine as a 32GB SSD but that kind of defeats the purpose of the module since it is so small in size.

Hmm looking at the return system newegg has. They want me to pay for the return shipping label and they want 27 dollars for that. Almost what I paid for it since I got it half price. Does not even seem worth at all. Be better off trading it into a local store for a regular SSD and pay the difference.

That's bullshit, it doesn't cost $27 to ship something that small. Give someone at newegg a call and see if they'll give you the label or at least lower the price.
