USB Extension Hub?

Hello again :)

So i didnt think my new Computer Setup really fully threw, which means that my Cables wont reach the Computer because it is to far away :/

I would need arround 1m 50cm / 5 ft...

And will it work? Or will i lag ._.

Thx and have a nice start in your week ;)

You can just buy a USB extension cable and a usb hub, it'll work fine as long as you don't draw too much power.(Like charging your phone)

Mouse, keyboard and USB stick will work fine.

Well, the max for usb is around 5 meters for pasive cables. You could have some lag tho

Could it work with like only a USB 3.0 Extension Cable and then have a Hub at the end? (just as an idee)

if we have seen linus run a GPU from 3m away, so it can be done but my advice dont cheap out on the cable cheap cables tend to be bad. but if this is for USB then it should be ok if your just planing to run a mouse and keyboard on it.

? hope this helps

It could work, but as @timl132 said you might run into power problems with it, and perhaps a bit of lag

Yeah, but those were expensive sleeved extenders on a way faster interface

That's practically not possible for things to lag, USB is made to avoid things like that.

I really dont want lag :/ so lets put the HUB idea away for 1 sec, would it work better with 3 Extension Cables?

Yes, your devices don't require a super high speed connection, so why bother with 3 cables. And with a hub you get the option to plug-in a USB drive or something.

Theoraticly not, but I had some real problems with a 5 meter one, so I just warned that the possibility exists

I just thought 3 Cables would maybe work better (because of the whole lag thingy)

If posible, yes. But if your ectension cable or PC doesn't suport it, then no. I'd grab a USB 3 hub if possible, so you don't run in bandwith issues' if there might be any.

I (will) have a Aorus Z390 Pro Wifi with 3.0 USB's so that wont be the problem, but i just had a look on the internet and i coundt find any Hubs with like 5ft (or 1m50cm)

Just buy an USB 3 extension cable, they are quite cheap. And attach your hub to that.
