  1. Hey everyone! I just built my pc recently, and not long ago I enabled XMP as well for some extra performance, and it works perfectly fine... until I power off my pc or put it to sleep. And it's not just for XMP, it's for any ram speed setting other than the stock 2133mhz. After changing the speed, the pc boots into windows and everything works, but when I restart it, it won't boot ever again until I reset my cmos. What could be the problem? My specs are: ASrock B450M PRO4-f 1x8 G.skill Aegis 3200mhz because of budget reasons AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF
  2. Hello guys, so I just a built a computer and what a headache to put ram to it's supposed advertised frequency ... I tried 2 differents motherboard : gaming x x570 and now MSI x570 unify I upgraded my PSU from 450W to 750W I tried 2 ram kits : first 2x8 lpx vengeance (c-die samsung ver 4.31) and now a 4x8 Trident z neo (F4-3600C16Q-32GTZNC) I have the ryzen 5 3600 On my msi board, I have the last bios update, and XMP profil (1 or 2) won't change the ram frequency (stuck at 2133), if I try to change manually the frequency to 3600 pc won't boot (ram overclocking fail error) I don't know much about OC but I thought if I changed to a better RAM (that's advertised amd optimized) it will solve my problems but no, I really could use some help Thanks !
  3. Hey all, I seem to be out of luck with any attempt with an XMP overclock and I'd like to talk about a solution. The Problem For any attempted XMP overclock, my PC will sustain power (including all lighting, fans (default to full RPM), and the water pump) but it will not POST. It will hang with a black screen. Attempts to reboot warm will give the same result, while cold reboot achieves POST with the option for F1 Setup to BIOS. Please also note: A stable non-XMP CPU overclock past 5.0 GHz can be achieved. Specs Motherboard: Asus Prime Z270-AR CPU: i7-7700K (stock settings for XMP testing, Voltage at AUTO, stock Multiplier) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 4x8GB 3200 MHz Previous XMP Attempts CPU: - I've kept the CPU at stock settings for the XMP profile. RAM (with stock timings ) : - 3200MHz / @3.502 Volts - 3200MHz / @Auto Voltage - 3000MHz / @3.502 Volts - 3000MHz / @Auto Voltage Please let me know what you think! If you have a solution, questions, or suggestions, fire away! I will provide more information upon request (I wasn't sure what else is needed). Thanks as always!
  4. Hey, I got a new pc today and afterbuilding i enconter an issue with the XMP profile, I have Corsair LPX vengeance 3600 CL20, A B450 aorus Elite and an AMD 3600. Are they any known issues about this configuration or any tips for me, I am currnetly running at DDR4 base clock : 2133 MHz.
  5. Hi, Can anyone give me an advise please? I have a T-force nighthawk 3800mhz CL18 ram and the most I could get it to run it at 3200mhz with 1.45v.. i keep crashing when i try to push it further... My specs are 3700x on B450 tomahawk max 2070 super MSI gaming trio Corsair rm650 psu
  6. 1. What is XMP / DOCP and why do I need it? 2. I turn on XMP / DOCP then my computer reboots a few times and goes back to default speed. Or won’t boot at all. 3. My computer sometimes crashes with a blue screen of death after turning on XMP / DOCP. 4. How do I see my ram speed in windows? Can I use task manager? 5. My ram speed is showing half my normal speed in CPU-Z. 6. My ram speed is a few mhz lower or higher than what I’m meant to be getting? 7. My ram in windows is showing that some (less than half) is not usable? 8. My ram in windows is showing that HALF is not usable? 9. I’m looking to buy ram, what configuration should I buy? 10. What if I want to upgrade my RAM in the future? 11. What is a ram KIT and how does it vary from a single stick? If you have any questions that you think should be added or changed please let me know!
  7. Hello all, I just recently added an additional 16GB of 3200MHz RAM to my gaming rig (for a total of 32GB, all at 3200MHz). And Windows Task Manager, my BIOS, and even CPU-z are telling me that I'm not getting 3200MHz across the board. In addition, my bios won't let me run xmp. It crashes and has me revert to previous settings. The ram I had initially was Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8) 16GB 3200MHz, and I added Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (2x8) 16GB 3200MHz. I'm wondering now, if this was a rookie mistake, and I should've just gotten more LPX instead of the RGB? But the MHz is the same, and the latency numbers are also the same. System hardware is as follows: Core i7-9700k MSI z370 SLI Plus Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8) 16GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (2x8) 16GB 3200MHz RTX 2070 Super FTW3 If anyone has any advice on how to fix this, please let me know. I still have time to return and the ram I got and swap it for the same ram I had initially. Thanks!
  8. hey, i recently bought 16gb of corsair vengeance rgb 3000mhz for my omen x900-1xx the problem is that i cant enable the xmp profile so my memory is stuck at 2133mhz i've tried going into the bios but it doesnt let me change anything and there isn't even a tab for overclocking or anything similar i've searched and did not find anyway to access the advanced bios for my specific model and hp support is useless, they just told me that "hp configures they're system for optimal performance". i also tried to do it though intel's xtu but it didn't work it just says error after restarting,
  9. Hi I need your help please, Every time I try using the XMP profile 1 of my RAM, system keeps crashing or blue screen when logging into windows. Here's my setup Ryzen 3700x TForce NightHawk 3600Mhz Tomahawk Max 2070 Super I tried increasing the DRAM voltage to 1.4v it still won't load. It loads when i use the profile 2 + 1.4 DRAM voltage but windows still doesn't show 3600mhz of ram. It's stuck with 2400mhz. I've updated my BIOS and all drivers are installed installed as well. Hope you can help me with this.
  10. Hi everyone, I am trying to activate XMP on my computer through the UEFI interface however I get the error saying that the "previous overclocking settings have failed". Sorry for the long post but I do believe that "devil's in the details", so here is some context to the issue: I had this build for a bit more than a year and about two weeks ago I decided to buy an additional kit of RAM (2 x 16) and use it along with the existing one (2 x 8). When I first built the pc a year ago I activated XMP from day one and I had no issues with it. Two weeks ago when I installed the new kit I didn't touch the XMP setting. Then I also ran the bootable MemTest86 for about 2 hours and no errors where found (I am aware that this is not prooving that the RAM is perfectly good). However, I started to experience crashing in games, I played a lot of Snowrunner the past days and I get a crash every 10-40 minutes. When inspecting the log of the crash it says "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access". I also tried GTA 5 which I played a lot before installing the new kit without errors, and I was, again, "greeted" with a crash in less than an hour of playtime, inspecting the windows event viewer I discovered that the crash was caused by a "Faulting module name: nvwgf2umx.dll". I decided to go and turn off the XMP setting in the UEFI. I did that and I managed to play Snowrunner for 6 hours and GTA 5 for about 4 hours with no crash or errors. Then I went back to UEFI to turn on the XMP and I was greeted by the "Overclocking settings have failed. Press F1 to enter setup. Press F2 to load default values and continue". I, then, tried a lot of different approaches (like manually setting the voltage to 1.35V or modifying the timings) with no luck, I couldn't turn the XMP on. I did, however, manage to turn it on one time through the MSI Dragon Centre's DPC Latency Tuner, but again, Snowrunner crashed after 15 minutes. I turned XMP back off, and when tried to turn it on again it failed no matter what I tried (UEFI of Dragon Centre), the same "Overclocking settings have failed" error was shown and one time I even got a blue screen with "Your PC needs to be repaired" message. <----- PC Specs-- ---> CPU: i9 9900K (no OC, just default/stock speeds and settings) MB: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC GPU: MSI RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO OS: WINDOWS 10 Pro 64bit MEMORY: ->the original kit (used for the past year): Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) 3000MHz DDR4 - CMK16GX4M2D3000C16 ->the new kit: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 3000MHz DDR4 - CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 PSU: Corsair HX Series HX750 750W 80 Plus Platinum Full Modular STORAGE: -> Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB (where the OS is installed) -> Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB One thing which I would also like to mention is the layout of the RAM stick in the DIMM modules. They are placed as follows: DIMMA1 - 8GB (old one) DIMMA2 -16GB (new one) DIMMB1 - 8GB (old one) DIMMB2 - 16GB (new one) Here is the CPU-Z report uploaded using the Validate button: https://valid.x86.fr/8phihj And here it the full HMTL CPU-Z report(hosted on GitHub): https://mateigiurgiu.github.io/pcspecs I know I should be doing a clean reinstall of the OS, however, I am a couple of weeks away from my master's dissertation deadline and a clean reinstall will set me back 2 or 3 days because I need to reinstall everything I use. I also discovered that the old kit I was using doesn't appear in the compatibility list on the MSI page (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-Z390-GAMING-EDGE-AC#support-mem-3 ), however, the new one does appear. My idea is that the kits are somehow incompatible with each other when using XMP, or the MB is not smart enough to set the latencies or other settings as it should. I also noticed that they have different SDRAM Manufacturers: Samsung vs SK Hynix. If would like to know if the kits are incompatible or if the new kit is faulty in order to return it within the 30 days period. What are your thoughts about this?
  11. Everytime I enable XMP for ram, my computer won't post. The computer remain on but the screen is off. Then I turn off my computer and boot it again, it works but the XMP is disable. Here is my build. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NYwHL2 here are my ram configuration. My bios is updated to the newest version.
  12. So as the title says, I have two Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 8GB Sticks in my system. They are rated for 3000mhz, but my motherboard only supports 2666mhz. Now it has automatically been set to run at 2133, and I want to increase it to 2666. However the XMP Profile only gives me an option to set it to 3000mhz. Will this damage the board? It is a B365 Chipset.
  13. Im new to pc and i want to as i have corsair vengance rgb pro 16 gb ram and an i5 8500 and gigabyte z370P-D3 motherboard. Im thinking of turning xmp on but i have a few questions is it safe for my pc can it damage anything and will it void varranty. Thanks
  14. My RAM XMP is only for 3000mhz and my mobo only supports 2666. I can change the frequency to 2666 manually however. Do I have to also change the timings to the ones on the XMP Profile for 3000mhz, or does that only work with 3000mhz? Will I need new timings to run at 2666 or can I just leave the timings on the 'auto' setting. Attached photo of list where I can change RAM Freq, and another photo of default timings.

  16. Hello everyone, I ran into a problem. I noticed in the CPU-Z that my RAM runs slower (2133mhz) than it should (3200mhz 2x8GB kit). I enabled XMP and a DRAM profile in the BIOS but it literally did nothing. In BIOS the speed remained at 2133mhz and the same in CPU-Z. I tried running XMP & disabling DRAM profile and the other way around with no luck. Then I tried running XMP and setting the speed to 3200mhz manually but that just results in the system crashing on start-up. 3000mhz works fine. Is there any limitation on RAM speed due to using B450/R7 2700X I'm not aware of? I know the RAM is not on the QVL list (difference of 1 letter), but the BIOS seems to get all the data just fine. Could that alone be it? My setup is: ASRock Steel Legend B450M AMD R7 2700X Palit GeForce 1660 Ti Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3200mhz RAM (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16) Corsair PSU 750W Windows 10 Thank you very much!
  17. So I'm at the point where I wish to upgrade my old rig. I've decided on a ryzen 7 3700x as my CPU and a Gigabyte x570 aorus elite. But I keep reading online that this board has problems running ram at their marketed speeds. I want to pair the board and cpu with HyperX fury ddr4 8*2GB 3200mhz ram (got a really good deal on them) and was wondering if this is still the case with this board? People have mentioned that the XMP profiles don't really work and that they will down clock them to the regular 2133mhz. Is there need for concern? And would the Asus Tuf x570 be better? They are the same price where I live but people have also mentioned that this board have problems with longer GPUs. Hope someone here can help me clear this up for me~ thank you~
  18. Hi I recently upgraded my PC by switching from Intel to AMD New Mobo: X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Hero CPU: 3900X I reused the memory from my old config which was 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX (CMK32GX4M4B3200C16) @ 3200Mhz In the Intel build I could only get that memory working stable at 3133Mhz, but in the new build it would run at 3200Mhz Some instability/BSOD issues that transferred to the new build and I put it down to the memory as it's the only component that was left to swap. So, as Ryzen likes faster RAM I decided to go for a dual 3600Mhx kit, but I'm not getting anywhere near those numbers. 2x16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX "Ryzen Tuned" CMK32GX4M2Z3600C18 If I try to select the full 3600MHz the PC hangs with Q-Code 22 and the amber diagnostic LED If I clock it back to 3466Mhz it sticks on qcode 07 The only way it boots up is if I dial it right back to 3200Mhz - which is a waste of £40 as I could have purchased a 3200 kit if that's all these can get. I'm assuming I've done something wrong in the BIOS, so could someone steer me in the right direction so I can get the proper RAM speeds? My settings in BIOS (with mild OC): Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual Memory Frequency DDR4-3200MHz Core Performance Boost: Disabled CPU Core Ratio: 40.00 CPU Core Voltage: Manual CPU Core Voltage Override: 1.15v DRAM Voltage: 1.35v The rest are fan profile changes If I try to force RAM voltage to 1.35v and push beyond 3200Mhz I get a Q-Code: 22 If I try upping it from the stock 1.20v to 1.25v I get Q-code 07 So it doesn't seem happy with any voltage changes ... Any help appreciated
  19. I have 32GB (4 x 8GB) of Team T-Force Delta RGB 3000 MHz RAM. They sit in the 4 DIMM slots of my Asus Crosshair VI Hero motherboard, next to my Ryzen 5 1600 (14nm) CPU. Without the XMP profile enabled, the BIOS and system sees the RAM speed as 2400 MHz. With the XMP profile enabled, the RAM speed jumps up to the advertised 3000 MHz. However, often when the XMP profile is enabled the system has multiple issues. Sometimes it has trouble booting, and goes through several boot attempts before success. Sometimes the entire computer will crash from running a simple game of vanilla minecraft or VBA (Visual-Boy Advance) (only while I stream then, and ONLY if XMP is enabled). I've been slowly lowering the RAM speed for XMP (3000 MHz to 2933 MHz to 2866 MHz etc) to try and mitigate these issues. While they have become less frequent, they are still prevalent. So for now, I have turned off the XMP profile and everything runs decently, albeit a tiny bit slower. Since I have NOT delved into the realm of custom overclocking, messing with voltages, etc, does anyone know what may be causing the issues? I even tried all the different combinations of RAM in a dual stick configuration. The same problems arose regardless. So, I don't think it's the RAM itself but either the power delivery or the XMP settings. What are everyone's thoughts on this, since I don't know where to go at this point, and I do NOT want to accidentally harm my computer by messing with settings I don't understand. For further info: PSU: Corsair CXM 750W 80+ Bronze (Had planned on getting a better / more power hungry processor but car repairs ate up THOSE funds, hence why wattage is high for this build) GPU: 6-Pin Dell RX 580 8GB (so basically a re-branded RX 480) CPU cooler: Hyper 212 EVO Chassis: Phanteks Eclipse P350X Thanks in advance for any replies!
  20. Hi all, new member here! I have an issue with my RAM speed despite XMP being enabled. I have 2 x 8gb 3200mhz g.skill tridentz rgb series ram installed on an Aorus x470 Ultra Gaming motherboard. I have a Ryzen 2700x CPU and have updated both the mobo bios to the latest (f42g) and chipset drivers to the latest on Windows 10. However on windows task manager it only shows speed as 2133mhz. On CPU-z it is even worse and shows as 1066mghz! On the bios settings I have activated “profile1” xmp and the same issue persists. On the “system memory multiplier” row it shows one column as “auto” and the other column as “32.00” I cannot click on the “32.00” to amend it. And the “memory frequency “ row shows one column “3200mhz” and the next column the incorrect “2133mhz”. I cannot click on the “2133mhz” to amend it either. The ram is in position 0+2. I tried using position 1+3 and swapping the ram around but no help. The issue remains and the ram continues to run at 2133 MHz despite “XMP” activated. (I am counting position 0 to be the one closest to the cpu and 3 to be the furthest, so 0,1,2,3 in that order). I tried to deactivate XMP and switch the computer off and on and then reactivate and switch the computer off and on etc but still no help. I have attached screenshots to what I am referring to. I hope someone can help! Thanks
  21. welcome !! i have : i3-4150 avexir 8gb of ram (2x4) 1600mhz gigabyte b85m-ds3h-a so when i run cpu-z i find the ram running in 800mhz so i activate the xmp profile and checked it again and i found it is still running at 800mhz so what i need to do to make the ram running at 1600mhz?
  22. Hey All, Having a stability issue with a relatively new system. Here's the specs: Ryzen 7 3700x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz C16 Asrock x570 Phantom Gaming 4 Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1070 OC1 Corsair H60 AIO Corsair 275r case Samsing 970 Evo NVMe (primary) Here's what's happening: With XMP enabled, randomly while gaming, the system will hard power off (like someone pulled the plug) and automatically reset itself. Upon resetting, the BIOS is returned to its factory settings. PBO is disabled, XMP is disabled, almost like it goes into a hardware safe mode. With XMP disabled, the system seems perfectly stable and will game for hours just fine. It doesn't seem to be anything related to thermals, CPU never gets particularly hot with the H60 AIO I've got on it. The system was perfectly stable at this exact spec for a few months now and suddenly develops these issues. I'm not getting any crash dumps to chase down, and there doesn't seem to be any log files anywhere I can avail of. Can someone help point me in the right direction? I don't want to randomly start replacing parts without something to go on first. If you need anymore details, let me know
  23. So i had a problem where I tried to oc my ram after doing so (lots and lots of failed attempts using the calculator for ryzen) i found one that didn't crash however when i tried to load into widows i got stuck on auto repair boot loop cleared cmos then tried again (for those of you who know how long and hard it is to go threw all the timmings you get my pain) to no avail sat on forums for hours. heres the weird part i found 1 dim slot would work with both ram on xmp but together would not after i had been using xmp since i built my setup. i tried it all flash bios, renistall bios, mess with ddrv, litterally everything you can imagine. But then i came across a form that said that your aio pump after being on for a while can come loose or sag on one side causing some pins not to connect, i thought to my self surely this cant be true, even if so this wasn't a problem till i started overclocking my ram so me being desperate i completely dissembled my board gpu, ram, m.2, checked all connecters 24 pin 8 pin and finally tore down my aio and cpu and check to make sure i didnt bend a pin thank god they all looked straight to the naked eye so i put her back in reapplied the thermal paste and remounted my aio which can be very confusing for new builder or to old ones who just wanted to try amd as most of the mounting options really suck lol unlike intels always sturdy 4 screw bracket i have two thub screws that pull up on the two flat pieces. checked temps posted great first try then i checked speed stock 1333 then i tried xmp again and wah la running at 3600 speed. so a quick guide if your having memory issues step by step 1. clear cmos try again 2. flash bios 3. try different ram (if you only have one test each one in the 2nd slot or 1st deppending on your MB) try each one with XMP on and off if one doesn't work then there you go bad ram if both don't work try different ram 3. try a different MB you can easily fry the dim slots over volting 4. uninstall and reinstall your cpu 5. if still no luck its possible you bent a pin on your cpu or its fried. good luck OCers My specs: Cpu: ryzen 5 3600 OC: 4.2 @ 1.350v MB: msi x570 gaming plus RAM: 2x8 vengeance rgb pro 3600 GPU: rtx 2060 ko ultra AIO: ML240r rgb CASE: Coolermaster h500 PSU: 650w gold+ C.A. rm650x STORAGE: m.2 sata evo plus 1tb, 2tb barracuda 7200
  24. Hi! I recently bought a stick of RAM (Kingston HyperX Impact 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 SDRAM SO-DIMM 260-pin) and I noticed that it is running at the speed of 2133mhz instead of 2400mhz. I've tried to look around in the BIOS but I did not find XMP. Yes, I know how to unlock the BIOS but I still was not able to find the option. The RAM is supposed to support XMP 2.0 and I really want to get the most out of it. My laptop is the MSI gp62mvr 7rf leopard pro. Thank you in advance.
