I've been considering my next monitor upgrade being this LG ultrawide. I know I need a minimum of 1440p and a minimum size of 27'' and maybe no bigger than 32''~. Just starting to think if the ultrawide screen real estate is worth it. Most productivity software rely on vertical space rather than horizontal, be that programming, Office or most other software. Even video editing needs vertical timeline space for all the layers. Can anyone say if an ultrawide is worth it over two 1440p monitors when it comes to productivity? I bet 99% of the time I'll just have the windows split in the middle. Windows 10 doesn't do 3 equally split windows does it? Maybe even over one normal and one turned vertically for the extra vertical space similar to how diehard programmers have their monitors laid out... If you guys are recommending a 1440p/4k panel for productivity, any suggestions? I'd like a monitor to cost no more than £800~

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions here. I have a 21:9 3440x1440 LG Ultrawide, and when I record 1080p video and live stream, I use XSplit to capture the upper left corner in a perfect 1920x1080 area where I manually dock my applications in there that I want visible during recording. As shown in the attached image. The real estate outside that region is my personal space whilst streaming, it's really nice to have that. Due to the heavy nature of what I do, some application operations pull the CPU so tightly (4790K @ 4.6) that it leaves Xsplit gasping for air, and I drop thousands of frames at a time whilst live streaming. So I bought a Elgato HD60 Pro capture card, stuck it into a secondary PC, hooked up the HDMI, mirrored the main monitor with the HDMI output and boosh I've got an unsupported 3440x1440 signal going into my capture PC. My plan was to then use Xsplit on the capture PC to crop the 3440x1440 signal to the 1080p region, and broadcast that, but I guess due to the shift in resolution on a received signal, the image degrades to the point that it's totally unusable. So I'm just wondering, does anyone have any advice (if its even possible) to successfully use a 21:9 panel with a secondary capture PC without resorting to nerfing my 3440x1440 panel to 1920x1080? I cannot find a single thread anywhere discussing this issue, which is surprising given the increase in popularity of 21:9! Thanks in advance.

I've been looking at some higher end monitors lately, and currently there is 2 out there: Acer predator X34A 1200 Asus pg348q 1250 Upcoming: HP Omen X 35 AOC AG352UCG Comparison: http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/1a6d12722 These are the ones I know that will be coming out in a few months which is when I will be buying one unless the X34 beats out the others. So some common things of these monitors: 100hz, Nvidia g-sync, 34-35", ultra wide and resolution: 3440 x 1440. update: The price of the Asus just dropped to that of the predator like this week over the country[1](Denmark), just curious if acer predator x34a is superior or worse then the Asus pg358 . I am still pondering whatever or not I'm willing to pay 200 dollars more because it has IPS(acer/asus) instead of AMVA(AOC). I think the omen, despite its delicious design gets beaten by the AOC simply because of the price, 200 dollars more. Graph: http://www.pricerunner.dk/pl/25-3135918/Skaerme/ASUS-Rog-Swift-PG348Q-Sammenlign-Priser Am I missing something, and is the IPS worth the 200 dollars and less waiting time compared to the AOC. Is there something coming up in Q1 2017 that will be greater especially for the price.

I have a rather tight budget for getting a new monitor and I have an option of getting: an lg 25UM56P or any equivalent 25" 2560x1080 21:9 IPS display an asus mx259h 25" IPS display a dell e2416h 24" TN panel (1080p) and a 20" dell e2016h TN panel (1600x900) for much lower than the previously mentioned options I usually find myself wishing i could run two programs side-by-side but I heard the difference between IPS and TN panels is extreme. I'm also worried that by getting the two monitor bundle i would be putting myself at a disadvantage due to the lower resolution of the second monitor (the 20" one). Also, i heard a 25" widescreen is too narrow to be effective for any multitasking. I game on my pc and use it for work so I need the monitor(s) to help at both. Should i get the widescreen monitor now or get the asus 25" IPS monitor and save up to get another one later on or should I just get the monitor combo and save some money? (PS: i have an overclocked gtx 1060 so I can run games at the 2560x1080 resolution of the widescreen and all my games are widescreen supported).

Hello, My friend has recently bought a widescreen monitor from LG (LG 38UC99) to replace his broken Apple Thunderbolt display. We have connected them via a Thunderbolt 2.0 to HDMI 2.0 dongle and an HDMI 2.0 cable. The screen seems to work OK and Mac OS Sierra seems to accelerate the mouse on the Imac correctly, however on the screen every movement seems to have a delay. Does anyone experience the same problem when working with different screen ratio's on a mac or does anybody know a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Do you guys prefer two monitors or using one wide screen monitor. If I had two one would be for gaming and the other basically for better efficiency at work. Or would you guys prefer a Wide screen monitor for both gaming and work use? Please list the monitor you guys use or would like to recommend. Thanks for your time!

This arrived yesterday afternoon!!! Got it on sale for about 90,000 JPY. I will review it in-depth over the next month, if anybody has questions about widescreen monitors or this monitor in particular that I can answer I will endeavor to do so. I can run things on windows/mac & linux. Observations thus-far: the cable management sucks. 12v from the power brick is pretty flimsy. included DP>DP, HDMI>HDMI, Mini DP>DP & USB 3.0 are really heavy duty! have some larger cable ties prepared. response time & 100hz performance is as advertised. support for ultra-wide games is limited (Rocket League is ok! though) the speakers are pretty useless -- i will not be using them for anything other than podcasts. DEFINITELY NOT MUSIC-WORTHY! it's not as heavy as expected. the height adjustment is reasonably sturdy. finish quality is superb. picture in picture is awesome. 125% of RGB colour space is no exaggeration - this thing shits all over my previous colour accurate monitor. ( may not be able to use it for everything though as not everybody has a curvey monitor) the curve is not at all extreme in-spite of Samsung's advertising, it is very comfortable & whilst you notice the extreme radius compared to say the U3415W or the 34UC97 it's not at all weird. xx -jeremy.

It's not from me, but while walking my dog I keep seeing a widescreen CRT w/ VGA & display port inputs sitting at the corner of 45th & Chester (just off Fraser), in Vancouver. I don't have any of my old consoles at home ATM, but it's a drag to see it going to waste when so many people are looking for CRTs for old games, and wanted to let the forum know, so that someone could make use of it. Again, it's not me who put it out there, so don't contact me for any further info about it. The sign says it works, but it got rained on a bit yesterday, so I dunno. When I notice that it's gone, though, I will post that and close this topic. Cheers.

Looking for a good 'professional' monitor, mostly for editing and not much for gaming (not looking for high refresh rate). Things I'm looking for: Good color accuracy and wide viewing angles (IPS panel) Resolution and aspect ratio is still a question. Though I am interested in 21:9 ones, I am worried since many content (like most YouTube videos) is on 16:9 (please enlighten me on this) (if 16:9) 1920×1080 or 2560×1440 (better). I do not need 4K (machine can't handle). (if 21:9) 2560×1080. My machine is a laptop (Lenovo Y50) which only has one HDMI output. If you have a great monitor that you've been using or if you know a great monitor out there for a reasonable price let me know (since I don't know the price range for these monitors). Thanks.

Hello, my fellow desk maniacs and hardware fans! First of all, let me introduce myself: I'm Elliot, 22yo, Graphic Design student, Game Designer, Gamer and Illustrator. Recently I've made two custom desks, they're not finished yet, they need to be painted black, glass still needs to be applied and i still need to attach one of them to the wall too. That's not the point, the point is: one of them is 175cm x 65cm and the other is 150cm x 45cm, they'll be arranged in a L shape, so the surface will be 220cm x 65cm in one side and 85cm x 85cm on the other. So, Elliot, what does display have to do with that? Well, i'm currently using a dual monitor setup, however i'm using two jurassic monitors! Pics at the end of the post (don't mind the mess, i took them during hard times :p) Those outdated monitors are tearing away my hopes and dreams, my workflow is heavily hindered by them, it is time for a change! So i've made my mind: i'm switching to a 21:9 + 16:9 dual monitor setup! The problems are: I live in Brazil and my options are not great, I am still a college student and my budget sucks, i want a good view of both monitors and I'm a f**king color freak, almost any big difference in color balance and contrast feels like a massive eye sore! Taking that in consideration, the plan was to buy two LG monitors, the 29UM68-P and 23MB35PH-B Will the experience suck? What if instead of the 23MB35PH-B i buy a cheaper 23MP55HQ-P? Any tip, suggestion, critique and whatever else will be appreciated! PS: I was planning to use a monitor stand for both, will most dual monitor stands work or i'll have to find a special one or maybe two individual stands?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there is an optimal setup for a widescreen, triple monitor setup. I currently have all 3 monitors plugged into one video card. I'm currently running two SLI GTX 1070s. The question is should I have them all plugged into one card or have one monitor plugged into the second card and the other two into the the other one? Does it make a difference? Does it run better? Am I wasting my time? As the PC master race we strive for the best performance! Just wanted to know if anyone has ever tried this.

Hi Everyone, when I finish building my computer I'm going to be buying a widescreen monitor to go along with it, I'm also mainly going to be playing Skyrim (not remastered) and I'm going to mod it, ENBs and such. So I was wondering, what sort of FPS would I get if I: Ran the game (on max settings) with a ENB such as RealVision Ran it on a a Widescreen Monitor (21:9, 2560 x 1080) (Using a 1080 and i7 6700k in my build) Thanks to anyone who can help, or provide advice!

My OS is windows 10 I was able to stretch applications to all 3 screens to play a game in surround, (example below) but i have trouble scaling tripleAAA titles to do this. is there applications that allow me to increase the width of windowed trippleAAA games? is there decent tricks that allow me to do this? the one monitor is ran by the APU so i cant use Nvidia's screen linking software. the 3 bottom monitors are 1680 x 1050 so i want the window to be 5040 x 1050 the ability to use the APU and GPU together is enabled on the motherboard bios.

I'm looking for a new curved monitor. They are very immersive and caught my appeal years ago so I'm finally willing to invest in one with the correct specs. I am a business professional by day and a gamer by night and would like a G-Sync monitor. I've heard adaptive sync opened doors for G-Sync Compatible but I also hear many people complaining of issues with ghosting, screen brightness and game freezes. I want to keep the monitor around 34-35" wide and have a high refresh rate to help keep me competitive while gaming. I'd also like WQHD or 4K resolution if possible. Any thoughts?

Odd question but when I try and Google anything related to "screen marks" I get nothing but backlight bleed posts and dead pixel information. Hoping someone knows what this actual issue is called so I can look into a fix, or I can concede that the monitor is knackered and never buy LG again. I do not expect this kind of damage on a 3 year old premium product, but that's my own beef to deal with. See attached. When the monitor is turned on from cold, you can clearly see the shadow marks appearing across the screen, they kind of look like water stains but there's never been any water anywhere near it. This started around 9 months ago with just one small inch long mark, but it's gotten progressively worse day by day. I would suspect in time this will spread across the entire display. It's noticeably more prominent when the display is cold, but when it warms up they slowly fade out but are always visible on greyish colours. If anyone can shed some light on what this might be, I can then start making some decisions! Cheers folks.

I've been a long time LTT lurker on YouTube. I've been looking for either a good dock with 90W power to power my late 2016 15" MacBook Pro or a screen that can act as a dock at the same time. Most screens that I've found only have 60W of power which is good enough for the 13" models but not enough for its bigger brother. A few weeks ago I was renewing my search and I stumbled upon the Dell U3419W. The U3419W is a 34 inch widescreen monitor with a curved display that was a USC-C output with 90W power. It also supports HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4. The box included the following cables: power, USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB 3-A to B to use the monitor as dock when using HDMI/DP. In the box was also a user manual and a factory calibration certificate. At around €950,- (1050$USD, 1400$CAD) it's a pricey monitor but I think I may have to go with what I've heard Linus say before ("I don't want anything other than a widescreen"). For me personally it replaces an old HDMI 1080p monitor that I wasn't able to use with the MacBook due to lacking a cable (USB-C to HDMI converters get bad reviews) so it's a huge step up. Another option that I've considered in the past was the LG 5K monitor but it's 30-40% more expensive and people have reported quite a lot of problems with them. I hope that Linus or the LTT team considers doing a review of the monitor because it'd be interesting to hear the thoughts of someone that's handled a few more monitors. I also believe it's the first non-apple endorsed monitor (referring to LG) that has enough power over USB-C to provide a single cable solution for USB C capable laptops. I'd be happy to answer any questions from the community.

Hi, I'd like to invest in a good widescreen curved monitor going between 32" up to 34" (or 35"). I'm not into gaming, so I don't need best of refresh rate, it's meant for 2D and 3D content creation with (non-professional) video editing. I'm not asking for a 5K iMac 27" quality, but as close as it can get without completely emptying my pockets. 34" I see positive comments concerning the LG - 34UC89G-B and the Samsung - C34F791 but I'm open to any suggestion (they are a bit pricey though). 32" For a decent 32", how about the Samsung - C32F391 ? I'd let myself be tempted by the Samsung C32HG70, which is getting great reviews, although the PWM technology is said to fatigue the eyes ... But this review https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/samsung/chg70 states this : So I'm confused. Is this going to give me eye-fatigue or not ? Just stumbled on the announcement of a very promising 32" monitor from Samsung : the C32JG52, 32" WQHD Curved Gaming Monitor with 144hz refresh rate Worth the wait ? I already have a Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 56 Pulse GPU.

Hello Friends. I work as a motion graphics designer (mostly in After Effects and Illustrator), and my current display (Eizo Foris FS2333 1080p) served me well. That said i'm starting to really feel the need for a 4K display for design work, but i really don't know what to choose; i'd love to get an HDR compatible display but if i'll wait for those to arrive i'll never get one; one day in the future i'll upgrade my gaming monitor (which for now will remain my eizo) with an HDR solution (in 2019). As stated early this display would only be for design work; i don't intend to play on it (of course if i CAN play on it decently would be a cool bonus, but i'd only play 2D or not so demanding games, in 4k). I know my GPU is currently not very capable with 4K (GTX 980), but i would like to futureproof myself a little with this display and i'll surely upgrade my PC in 2019. (by the way is the GTX 980 capable of sending a 4K 60fps feed?). Budget: - 700 USD (Spending a bit less would be appreciated, but only if worth it) Features Requested: - 4K (wide or ultrawide) - 10-bit colour - 60Hz (i'm in no need of anything beyond that) - Exceptional colours for design work (within the budget) - 99/100% sRGB support - Good support for other color spaces (though i mostly work in sRGB) - 27" or more. - Working decently with macOS Features Appreciated: - Ultrawidescreen - Decent colour calibration out of the box - Half-decent latency (although not important at all) - HDR support (one can dream...) Features that are cool to have but i really don't care about: - Good looks - Premium materials Thank you very much. This is my current system, although the screen will surely be used with a new PC in 2019. - MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - GTX 980 Gaming G1 - Intel i7 4790k (with turbo boost) - 32 GB Ram 2133 MHz - macOS 10.13.3 "High Sierra" (Hackingtosh) - Windows 10 (for playing with my eizo) I MIGHT consider 2K solutions, but only if exceptional. Also, if for whatever reason this period might be bad for purchasing displays i can postpone the purchase or wait for new offerings....i'm just curious to know what's on the market. Please only displays easy to purchase online.

Hi I'm thinking of getting an external monitor for my 15.6" laptop. I won't be playing any games on it and I'll be using it for manily programming and university work. Would it be better to use a 34" Ultrawide monitor for my laptop and optional dual monitor setup with my laptop OR get a 1440p 27"widescreen monitor and have a dual monitor setup w/ my laptop? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor for home/work. I have a beefed up early 2012 non-retina macbook pro that i want to get an external monitor for. I work on a 27" iMac at work, but want more real estate at home. I also have a PC build from 2013 that I'd like to hook up to it when I have PC-specific work to do. Can that macbook pro handle the 3440x1440p with a displayport to mini displayport cable, or am I wasting my time? If it can, does anyone have a recommendation of monitor to get at this size/resolution? Macbook Pro specs 13-inch 2.9 GHz dual-core i7 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 500GB SSD original Intel HD Graphics 4000 features mini displayport firewire thunderbolt (old?) etc.
