Hi All, I'm hoping someone here can offer some clues to help me fix my issue. I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 laptop, which is connected to a WD MyCloud Pro PR4100 via a Dell TB16 Thunderbolt 3 Dock. For various reasons, I have to connect to the PR4100 directly via ethernet, rather than through a switch or router. For several months, only my laptop has been connected to the PR4100, however recently I tried to connect an Apple MacBook Air to it as well, initially directly though the 2nd Ethernet port on the PR4100, then via a Netgear GS308 switch, with one cable going to the PR4100 and one each to each laptop. I couldn't get both laptops to connect to the PR4100, though a conversation with WD Support established this was because I was attempting to connect each laptop to the PR4100 using the Admin account, which I now know is not designed to work in this way. Unfortunately, since returning to only connecting my Dell XPS 15 9550 to the PR4100, any time the laptop restarts or wakes from sleep the Network connection to the PR4100 is lost. The only way to re-establish the connection to the PR4100 is to perform a 4-second reset on the PR4100. Through conversations with WD I was able to establish that the PR4100 is most likely not at fault, so I am now left trying to establish what could be going wrong with connection to the Dell laptop. Could anyone offer advice as to what could be going wrong here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks!

Hi everyone, I have a WD MyCloud NAS that I have been using for several years. On my Windows 10 PC, I simply mapped it as a network drive and connected using the credentials I set up on the NAS. After updating the firmware of the NAS, I changed my login information and remapped the drive on my PC. However, the mapped network drive fails to connect every time on startup. I have to unmap it and remap it for it to connect again. I checked the boxes "Reconnect at startup" and "Sign in using different credentials" but it still does this. Strangely enough, I have the backup software Veeam Agent running on the same PC and that is able to connect to my NAS and backup data to it even though I can't connect through file explorer. Additionally, my Mac remains connected to the NAS with no issues. Any help would be appreciated!

So I have an old gen WD MyCloud NAS which used to be my one and all backup/Plex server. Since a few months, I almost never see that on "my network places" as the computer icon, but it's always at the "Storage devices". It has a DHCP address instead of a static (didnt know that until yesterday), My write/copy speeds are in the down 30MB/sec and never higher. Right now, I am trying to move files, almost 500GB+ and the transfer time is almost 6 hours. Is the HD in the old MyCloud, the culprit here? Also, I got myself a MyCloud Home (upgrade, wooo!) So transferring from the old to the new. That's where the speeds are low. Once it's done, can I connect the new NAS via a desktop switch? Will I still be able to "see" the device on "my network places". Any ideas for on how to tweak the settings for a faster transfer rate? My modem is from ATT (Boo!) and router is a Netgear Nighthawk (sweet!). Sorry for the most generic, basic post here. Any details needs, please let me know and I can let you all know. Thanks!

I have a 4 TB WD MyCloud home NAS that I use primarily for storing movies. The MyCloud is plugged into my router and is visible to 2 TV in my house. One TV has a Roku built in and the other is a Samsung MU7000 Series. I liked the setup so much I purchased a second 4 TB MyCloud for my sister in CA (I'm in NY). She also has a Samsung TV, but hers is a 2017 model QLED. She told me she was unable to access the MyCloud through her TV. Her workaround was to access the MyCloud on her phone and then send the phone picture to her TV. Not ideal. I am visiting this week and I hope to fix this, but I need some help. On my Samsung TV (the MU7000) both my router and the MyCloud are listed under Sources. My sister has her MyCloud connected to her router and her QLED connected to the router via WiFi, same as I do. But On My sister's TV neither the router, nor the MyCloud is listed under Sources. I confirmed the TV is connected to the router. Any ideas as to why the difference? Any suggestions? I figure it must be a difference in the OS between the 2 Samsung TV's. But it seems wrong that the much more expensive TV can't access what my cheaper TV can. I would really like to get this working before I leave. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm looking for setup advice on home network storage. At the moment we run a Western Digital MyCloud 2TB and it's been nothing but problems since Windows 10 was released. I chose it because everyone can access it from their individual devices locally and it can be accessed remotely through the MyCloud web login. Unfortunately ever since Windows 10 was released the MyCloud rarely ever appears as a Computer device on Windows Explorer > My Network and if it does it doesn't connect. This means you have to use the WD software or the web login and download the files to then re-upload which is not convenient. I have contacted Western Digital support and they simply blamed Windows 10 and told me to get in contact with Microsoft. I always thought it was something to do with my Windows 10 Education license which has caused other issues but I get different issues and the same lack of success with the two Windows 10 Home licensed machines. The only machine in the house it runs flawlessly with through Windows Explorer is an old HP G5000 (G5056EA) laptop running Windows Vista 32 bit. I'm going to give another attempt of troubleshooting after I gave up early in the summer. Ultimately I feel we need to improve backup options as they are flaky old HDDs or nothing and was wondering what assurance measures others can recommend putting into place in addition to any potential MyCloud replacements. We do a lot of photography and shoot in raw (NEF) with a lot of Photoshop files to accompany them. I have a lot of CAD files from when I was at University and from personal projects with a few video/ premiere pro/ indesign and illustrator files as well. Not really any budget at the moment as I'm not quite sure the scale of the project. It would be good if there was something like the MyCloud but where you can add and takeaway drives as inevitably we will fill the drives and need more but don't necessarily need them to be accessible all the time. Essentially we need to refresh the way we store and backup our creative library with additional back stops.
