Heya! Looking for some tips on a GPU for 3440x1440 gaming. It's music production first, gaming second - hence the 13600K over AMD, and DDR5 ram (matters a lot for DAW/DSP). Got a 10% discount code (expires 1. jan). Want something sooner rather than later. Used IGPU for 3-4 months already, and black friday had real 0 deals on GPUs this year. Specs 13600K (undervolted, 130w @ 97-98% of original performance) 32GB DDR5 6000mt (36/36/36/86) MSI B760 Tomahawk (ordered PC parts on cellphone, didn't do enough research , will swap to z690/z790 potentially if overclocking becomes necessary) Corsair RM850E (850W PSU) WDBlack NVME 1TB 7.3/6.3 gb/s + 500GB 5/5 gb/s for Os Factors For Purchase Power efficient (power is expensive here, especially during winter... 300%+ increase at the worst) 60+ fps (preferably more) in GPU heavy titles Low noise / heat Between $700 and $1400 Preferably more than 16GB Vram Mixed Settings + Upscaling is fine RT is nice to have, not a selling point for me Prices (pre discount code) 7800 XT / 6950 XT - $655 (in stock) 7900 XT - $1058 (4-6 week waiting time) 7900 XTX - $1292 (in stock) 4070 TI - $1012 (in stock) Really struggling to make a decision here, as they all give great performance. I'd rather get something a bit more expensive, get less in power cost and upgrade in 4-5 years. So to wrap it all up, my question is this: Do you play at this resolution and have any of these cards? What's been your experience? What would you choose if you were purchasing at this point in time, at these price points? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Hi all. I’m looking to upgrade my monitor. As the title states, I’m looking for a 30-35” display with a 3440 x 1440 resolution, 144+hz, and a 1000r or 1200r curve. I don’t really want to go wider than the 21:9 ratio, so monitors like the Oddessy G9 are out. My current display is a lowly 24” 1080p with a 1500r curve. Originally MSI was supposed to be releasing one like that, the MAG342CQR; but, they altered the design and gave it a 1500r curve instead for the released product. So, I was wondering else is out there from other brands, what you guys would recommend I check out, what I should avoid, upcoming product launches I should wait for, etc? Thanks for your time!

Hello, I'll be getting new laptop for myself with configuration of RTX 3060 + i7 10750H. I want it mostly for travelling (that's why I'm not getting desktop) , but I'll be also getting monitor to put it at my desk at home. I was thinking about Ultrawide display. Would be this card enough for UWQHD resolution (sometimes for gaming, mostly for photoshop, premiere pro, work)? Monitor: Gigabyte G34WQC (UWQHD, 144Hz, VA panel, 1ms) Laptop: Acer Nitro 5 Obsidian Black (NH.QB2EC.001 - i7 10750H, RTX 3060, 8GB RAM pre-installed - will be selling 8GB stick and putting 2x16 in it) Thank you

Hi! As this is my first post on here I want to apologize for any formatting or other errors. I recently got my first personal display (3440 by 1440, 100Hz, 34") with 1 DisplayPort and 1 HDMI port (I don't know the exact spec of these). Big surprise followed when I connected my laptop to it: I forgot that my laptop might have been to old to use it well. Its HDMI and MiniDisplayPort are some really old standard (I failed in finding the exact specs, the laptop model is an ASUS N551 JK with a GTX850m from 2014), and it only wanted to output 1080p60 on the monitor. Now that I have two video ports on it I got an idea: what if I connected both of them to the monitor, couldn't that double the bandwidth? (Note: I don't now which, if any, of those ports are connected to the GPU or just to the Intel HD 4600 integrated, and no, I still did not buy enough cables to just test it) My idea got special "imaginative" reinforcement when I saw the newest Hack Pro video on the LTT channel, and I am now here asking you guys for the "How" as I literally could not find anything on the web. Help is greatly appreciated :)

Budget: 400€ (up to 500€, if there is a game changer) Searching for a uwqhd gaming monitor, minimum 144hz and of course low input lag. If possible, AMD freesync not g sync. Should be +32° curved. Any great tips?

So this question has been asked and answered like a hundred times (but here goes the 101st)... I'm currently saving money for a new display and since I don't purchase displays very often I wanna make sure it's worth it. The dilemma is between a 3440x1440 100 Hz Ultrawide display like the ASUS Pg348q or a 1440p 144 Hz (I'll make sure to buy a good model if the scale tips over to 144 Hz display vs Ultrawide). Money is not a problem since I've been saving for quite a while now. I mainly use my PC for gaming, watching series and movies (not from Netflix) and let's say 25% productivity (MS Word, Excel, stuff like that). Which one is it and why would you choose one over the other? Thanks a lot in advance.

So Im about to build a new gaming rig from ground up and altho I have pretty good picture of what my rig will be like, I have one question (two actually). Build specs: z270, 7700k, 16gb ram and pure NVMe storage. Currently my monitor of choice is HP Envy 34c. This I have pretty much settled for unless something convincing enough comes up in this thread. The biggest reasons for my choise were the aspect ratio and this monitors impeccable native contrast. Image quality is magnitudes more important for me than refresh rates beyond 60hz. Same goes for ingame graphics in which the appearance of single frame means much more than those high frame rates. But regardless of all the above mentioned, and maybe because of all that, I have tried my best to make sure I can V-sync all games to 60hz, And the question is, is that possible or am I doomed to see drops to 30hz frequently? Follow up question: If it turns out that this build might indeed run into significant drops to 30hz with V-sync, which di you think would be better: Opting for 1080ti instead or to spend that extra money on a G-sync monitor. Bearing in mind that all G-sync monitors are a compromise what comes to static contrast

Hi fellas, So this christmas (which is soon) I'm going to make a minor upgrade to my fairly new PC (bought in august): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/n3VYvV Since I didn't have the full budget I spent back then I had to wait until christmas for my bonuses from work lol. And before you will write "you don't need it" or "why do you need it" or something in that way, just don't, this is one of my "dreams" to achieve, and after waiting 10 years, I think I can do it. So, what I'm considering is: AOC Agon AG352UCG for 777.40€ Acer Predator X34A for 1,175.27€ ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q for 1,091.50€ Also in consideration: Upgrade EVGA 750 P2 to Corsair AX860i - could sell EVGA for 120-130€ and buy the Corsair for 195,70€ Additional GPU - GTX 1080 Ti SC2 (SLI) - current cheapest is 867,90€ Full watercooled loop (EKWB/Alphacool) - from what I've researched it would cost me around 700-800€ THe main question is, which of those 3 monitors should I get? Will my 1080 Ti be sufficient to run at that resolution at max. settings? Although my current games are not so high on demand, I am planning on playing the new Battlefront 2, and maybe older games with 4K textures (Skyrim, Fallout 4 etc.) current new budget is: 2,700 - 3,000€ TL;DR / Summary: Primary - New UWQHD monitor, min. 34" - best pick from AOC, Asus and Acer? Secondary - GTX 1080 Ti in SLI on air or would a single be sufficient? Tertiary - buy a new PSU now or later? Quaternary - full water loop? - IMO too expensive Thanks in advance for the replies, hopefully you can understand my english

Hi, I have a 1080ti and a i7 7770 and want to buy a new monitor soon. I have been looking at gsync 4k but the UWQHD monitors seems really interesting. However the gsync ones, notably the X34, cost 40 to 50% (at least here in Japan) more than non gsync ones. What attracts me with that monitor is NOT the 100hz refresh rate, but the aspect ratio, size, resolution and IPS screen. I am perfectly content with a constant 60fps, as I mostly play RPG or games where I like to take my time. If i want something future proof and to protect me from below 60 FPS stuttering at that resolution, should I wait a bit more to save and get the gsync UWQHD? Do you think the newly announced x35 will significantly drop the price of the X34? thanks, David

I've been a long-time LTT subscriber, but this is the first time I'm posting on the site, so "Hi!" I recently picked up the Samsung C34F791 UWQDH monitor and I'm absolutely loving the display! But I'm having issues with the audio when I enable FreeSync. The audio works fine from a cold boot of the PC and monitor, but as soon as I go into a fullscreen, 3D game the audio will stop working and the only way to get it back is if I power-cycle the monitor. When I have FreeSync disabled either within the AMD Radeon settings, or the monitor's OSD the audio works fine. I have the monitor connected to an MSI R9 290. Does anyone else have this monitor and have this issue or know how to resolve it? The computer specs are as follows: CPU: Intel Core-i3 6320 3.9GHz MB: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming RAM: 16GB DDR4 2133MHz Hypertec GPU: MSI R9 290 4GB PSU: Corsair VS450

I found a similar thread here, but a lot has happened in 8 months, so I figured I should seek more recent & relevant advice. I have an i5-6600K paired with a GTX 1060 3GB running a 1920x1080@60fps display. My plan is to upgrade to a 3440x1440@144Hz monitor, though I am unsure of how I should reflect those changes in my GPU and CPU. I'd like to upgrade my CPU in the future, as it doesn't seem to be a bottleneck to me at all right now, but I am open to suggestions. Some games that I play are Overwatch, Dead By Daylight, Minecraft, The Forest, and I'm looking to start playing GTA V as well. I can run games at medium settings around 40-60fps, but I'd like to start using medium-high settings. My question is; what is a good GPU to pair with this monitor? I've been comparing the AMD 5700 XT and RTX 2070S. I'd like to know if it's honestly worth it for me to fork out the money to NVIDIA for something to adequately drive my monitor. (I am not too interested in ray-tracing, and not particularly interested at the moment in making use of the tensor cores. CUDA is nice, but AMD utilizes OpenCL, which to my knowledge provides the same capabilities?) Should I be looking at an RTX 2080 or even an 2080S? Radeon VII? Or will a 5700 XT or RTX 2070S be enough? P. S. I am using Linux, so the AMD drivers are FOSS and come with the kernel, whereas the NVIDIA drivers are proprietary and require manual updates. This isn't a big selling point, but it's still somewhat meaningful if things are close. Thanks!

Right, I have been trying to figure this one out for a bit. GPU: ROG Strix GTX 1080 I have a multi screen setup. My primary screen has (ROG PG348 - UWQHD monitor -relevant?-) with gsync support. I noticed that directx 12 (and only directx 12 games) became really slow. (halting / unplayable). Weirdly: running the 3d marked advanced (witch is directx 12) is almost unwatchable but the results are not affected. These issues go away when I disable gsync... I did update to the latest nvidia drivers. With gsync on I can only run games in directx 11. Also: I have a separate windows boot to experiment: the problem seems to have been introduced in the april windows update. Older versions of windows 10 do not have the problem even with the latest nvidia driver. Suggestions anyone (besides disabling gsync?) Anybody have similar problems? thx Jo

Hi, David from Japan here. GTX1080ti, Core i7 7700, 16GB ram. In short: got a great deal on a 4K 27’ monitor but am thinking about reselling it for an ultra wide QHD. after spending many hours on the forums last year, I decided to get the IPS 4K Gsync Asus PG27AQ. I found one on Yahoo Auction (the Japanese equivalent of EBay) for roughly 470$. I was originally considering the 4K or a UWQHD (acer X34 for instance) but considering the insane price of the Asus, I jumped on it. Great condition, no backlight bleed. After a few months playing AAA games (witcher 3, Andromeda, Divinity Origin, Nier Automata, Dishonored 2), I came to the conclusion that at that size and viewing distance (50 cm), it is really hard for me to see the difference between 4K and 1440p. The effects, textures, HBAO, jump from TN to IPS , etc are much more important. However, even if Gsync makes things smooth, a smooth 45fps is noticeably slower than 60 fps. I have a way to sell the monitor for the same price I bought it 5 months ago, and use that money for another monitor. Question: is Gsync worth it for UWQHD? How about HDR? In any case, given that New monitors will probably come soon, I will wait until then. Any suggestions about good monitors? I will try to find them on yahoo auction. Thank you. David

Ever since Linus published his 21:9 manifesto back at the old office I've been waiting for 3440x1440 to be relatively affordable. this week on ebay there have been several large buy it now posts for such panels at the $500, and if these hold were at half of what they were two years ago. I'm not ready to pull the trigger quite yet, but we are getting much closer. I'm curious how many out there have bout a 1440p ultrawide, and how many are still holding out. how low is low enough?
-
Hi, since I'm planning to upgrade to a 21:9 ratio monitor, I'm wondering what games do actually support it. I have searched for but didn't find an actual thread/list on what games are compatible with it. So would it be possible to start an actual list of the games that do support or do not support it? Cheers
