Windows 10 will soon allow you to block desktop apps from installing. This is very similar to how Mac OS prevents unsigned apps from installing or iOS in general. Basically anything that isn't in the store isn't allowed to be installed. Nothing very much to say about this, just thought I would see some opinions on this. Kind of like Windows 10 Cloud. I think Linus should make the Wan show more "just listening" friendly. There have been many times that I am just listening and then Linus starts using gestures, or screen sharing and I will not understand what he's talking about. So I have to stop what I'm doing, replay the part I missed, and watch it to understand what he's talking about. Please show your support below and try to get this to get noticed so he can use this constructive criticism. Also they should add the wan show to Spotify as a podcast, it would be so much easier.

For a while, I had considered doing the fan content to get featured on The WAN Show after watching the past few archives, especially the Nitroblast LukeSportsTips video seen on the February 15, 2019 WAN Show, so here's some background. YouTube playlist: Back in 2016 on YouTube on my Other Files channel, I managed to get into Linus Tech Tips fan videos by way of an edit based on Linus' Surface Pro 3 video, with technical difficulties and a "Sound Trouble Temporary" subtitle influenced by the Oddity Archive episode on technical difficulties. These earlier edited videos were intended to be created for fun and were long before being featured on The WAN Show was considered. It was with the introduction of the personal database of Hosts, Guests, Cameos, Sponsors and stuff in a Google Docs spreadsheet in August 2018 that led to wanting to be featured on The WAN Show. Google spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tkQJnirtoEIYX88tN5cHeCXwwBwUvKq023x8C_aRLuc/edit?usp=sharing Also predating the "featured on WAN Show" logic was the 2016 "Linus NCIX Tech Tips goes 60fps in Random NetlinkedSuperFun" video and predating Other Files was the June 2014 "NCIX 2013-14 thingies in Steven Universe (& Clarence) backgrounds" and January 2015 "NCIX Tech Tips videos in game promo backgrounds" video that was injected into the 2019 Other Files X Linus Tech Tips video. This video featured references to videos such as those about the E-PRANCE dashcam (LTT), "I just want to run Cinebench! (WAN), Windex from the Ultimate Mechanical Keyboard Keycap video (LTT), the first LTT video, PYRO Fireshooter (ChannelSuperFun), Stream Machine Hydrobolic Water Launcher and IPXX AFAP (CSF+Techquickie), Bam Launcher & Marshmallow Gun videos (CSF), the Giant Jenga & Real Life Mario Kart R/C race videos (CSF) and the very ancient "Snow Ramp Wipe Out My Little Brother Hits Our Ramp on the Wagon" video (LTT). A more recent example of reaching out to LTT is a bumper in the style of those used by Cartoon Network's Adult Swim asking for the videos to bee wither seen by Linus Sebastian of Linus Media Group or be featured on The WAN Show with his co-host Luke of Floatplane Media. As of the time of writing, no indication of an official response has been received on YouTube, Twitch, etc. in regards to the fan content. Updates will be added when received in regards to the five years of LTT/NCIX fan videos. UPDATE: As of 9:09 PM EST, the fan videos and spreadsheet post on the LTT forum along with the Other Files videos did not make it to today's WAN Show. Darn.

On the comment regarding Apple not taking ideas from outside the company, I disagree, because that is one of the main purposes of the Apple Appstore. Apple uses apps by third parties released on the appstore to mine for ideas. If an app becomes popular, Apple will either: Incorporate the functionality into iOS and ban that third party app from the store because it is (now!) just replicating existing functionality; or Release their own version on the store, undercutting the original developers app by Apple not having to add their own 30% cut on top of the apps price, thus being able to undercut the original app by the 30% appstore fee that Apple doens't have to pay.

Hi there. I created these concepts for a more fresh techy looking WAN show. Im keen to make more and / or send OBS stream scene exports of it. Hope you guys like and let Linus know.

http://www.cnet.com/news/google-said-to-unveil-new-phones-4k-chromecast-next-month/ Google is expected to host a media event next month that will focus on several hardware announcements, including new Pixel-branded phones and a 4K Chromecast, Android Police reported late Thursday. The phones will be called the Pixel and Pixel XL, unidentified sources told Android Police, although no other details, such as specs and expected released date, were available. The tech giant is also expected to give more details about Google Home, a new smart speaker that will compete directly with Amazon Echo as an always-listening virtual assistant, and reveal its design for its Daydream VR, a hardware and software platform to help any Android smartphone manufacturer create a VR headset themselves. The report appears to buttress all the rumors suggesting that Google would make its own house-branded phone by the end of 2016. It also emerges in concert with a report that Google has suspended plans for its Project Ara, an ambitious attempt to build a smartphone that lets you swap out its parts like Lego blocks. The event, which Android Police said will occur on October 4, has not yet been officially announced. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment. by Steven Musil

Ok I tuned into the Wan Show today and the stream appeared to be having many issues. Was up and down quite a few times? I have noticed issues before like intro music and video not working properly. They have had issues with there VOD software and simply viewing their own notes as they have mentioned in stream before. The Wan Show rarely starts on time and has frequent issues with hardware or software? I am almost convinced they walk into studio or go to there Wan Show set and just start when they are ready. They don't appear to test equipment or stream before starting. I just can't believe they don't do any preparation for twitch broadcast beyond making notes and getting ready with talking point? Linus do you test equipment same day of broadcast? Do you verify that stream is working or that you can connect to twitch and you have the equipment set up right? I mean I stream once a week for my weekly Mythic raid and i spend half hour to an hour verifying everything is working right. Sometimes i test stream with a separate account just to verify the setup and equipment is working. I also have a dedicated laptop that just displays stream so that i can see that it is working. Yes it takes time to verify equipment works etc, but I can't imagine you would not delegate testing if you did not have time to? Or you could just delay stream by another 10 to 15 min to verify it all works on your end? I mean you were already 20 to 25 min late adding another 5 min to fire up test stream on random twitch channel for testing can be done quick? I can understand that your busy Linus and that twitch is not your primary concern as I imagine that you do not do that many shows that broadcast live? I watch some of your youtube video's but most of the time I know of you because of the Wan Show and pay little or not attention to the rest of your offerings. I really like it and how you format it. I really don't care about the VOD issues beyond the fact I could not watch it live. I can always catch it on youtube. But If you are having basic issues with simply pushing live content out and having your hardware behave what does that say about how much crap has to be going on behind the scenes that causes that? Is time management so much of an issue that after years of putting out a show you are still having issues simply putting up sponsor banner on lower third? Really? This should all be tested long before you go live. If this is a time management issue with respect to other commitments I don't know what to say. I love the Wan show and very rarely have any complaints beyond what I have stated here. But if you do not have time or the staff to commit to getting it right why are you doing it when simply displaying a web page or getting a banner or video to display is so problematic that it affects the quality of the broadcast? I have noticed your youtube video production quality is top notch. No complaints there. Looks very polished and professional. I am of the opposite opinion of the Wan Show. Almost seems like an after thought goes into production and such. Btw i am not a professional or highly educated. My opinion is from the back seat and I have no experience running a business or working in an office environment. I know nothing of video production or about how to go about running a media company. But I hope you improve the Wan Show production efforts. I will still watch it regardless of quality but would love to be able to watch it on twitch live and not have to wait in channel hoping you show up as you can be like half hour to 40 min late some times. You have issues where you do not even have the doc working when you start and/or your laptop you use misbehaves or your streaming equipment is not working right. I'm sure today was just twitch be ddos'ed or such or your internet hiccuped. But you should be ready for that and just put a message up saying what is going on and yada yada. Most twitch personalities i know that stream every day have issues too but they talk about them and post about it not just gripe mid stream about software and equipment failures. I had been commenting on the video you put up about stream starting and was going to reply to a comment about a post i put about it but when i went to do that video said it was private. That kind of makes sense if it was just there temporarily to announce stream. Would be a good idea to turn commenting off if you can because when you get many many replies and a discussion in youtube comments that suddenly disappears it can be very annoying to people discussing the video. Sure I am little bit of an idiot for posting in what appears to be a video that was only a placeholder for stream starting. Would be nice if commenting had been turned off as everything i wrote is now gone. Wasted my time as no one can read it. I am not a troll and rarely make comments or post on forums. I am frustrated and do not even bother posting in twitch stream as you on screen behavior towards twitch chat appears very negative from my POV. I am sure there are many people that are rude and/or trolling. But not everyone does. I love your show but your apparent indifference to quality based on past behavior with regards to twitch alarms me as I can't see how you profit from it and I don not see a business that does much that is not profit driven. Again I don't know how to run a business and only have a high school education but I worry that you might decide it is too much trouble if current attitude on stream is any indication of what is going on.

Can anyone tell me what the intro references are from on The WAN Show? "Do swamps give you 'swamp butt'? ...I hope that's what that is." "Maybe if I clench hard enough... ...Nope I"m dead." I just never got those... Can someone please explain?

Hello everyone! I'm a long time LTT fan and have been lurking here for a bit. There has been the occasional thread popping up here and there and also a poll about having The WAN Show podcasted. I have been a fan of the podcast idea from the start as I podcast a bunch of stuff myself so I decided to look into it. I have (I'm sorry) a Macbook and therefore Garageband which, although being useless for everything else, is quite good for making podcasts. Having a bit of spare time I decided to make them with chapters and album art. I've posted some of these on my SoundCloud for the meantime but I have no idea on how to share them with you guys through iTunes and other portals. So my question is are you guys keen for this and does anyone know how help me with this? I am aware that danieldsklein has been ripping the audio and just posting it on his Google Drive but updates have been scarce and for some reason it won't work for me. I have no idea about the legalities of doing this; whether I'm allowed to use the audio from the stream, the audio from their intro, the logos and all that; but I'm not making any money from this so some direction on this would be appreciated.

Didnt know where to post this topic so i apologize in advance if this isnt the right place Recently i came a across a twitch streamer that invested in a Sound Booth Big enough to fit his Setup in, this made me question the idea of others investing around 1k-10k on a Sound booth for the intentions of streaming and or gaming commentaries. I post this here because the WAN Show came to mind, we know linus loves a silent computer, so why not a silent show.I hope he sees this and leaves his input on Sound booth for videos.

I present you digital foundry, they benchmark both console and PC hardware on almost every AAA game released since like 2010 to present, and do stuff like games on PS2 vs remastered games on PS3 frame rate comparisons. And of course they do Xbox 360 vs PS3 vs PC vs Xbox One vs PS4, and every combination of those platforms. They used special software that takes 60fps video and measures every single frame to see the actual frame rate at which the game is running. http://www.eurogamer.net/?topic=digital_foundry https://www.youtube.com/user/DigitalFoundry In the wan Show they talked about how titanfall on 360 was capped at 45 fps, but on digital foundry's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7woH1t-E8M0, the game did reach 60fps on occasions where there was minimal action and the player was looking away from the center of the map. So yeah.
