Hi everyone, A few days ago my msi RX 480 gaming X began to work less stabile i got a lot of stuttering and in some games my pc went into a black screen with no display connected and the fans on the rx480 went to full throttle. So i would like to hear your feedback on this if any of you have the same problem and if so is there a fix for it. But anyway I have been looking to upgrade my GPU anyway but i am not sure which one is best for my system. my current setup is: CPU: ryzen 5 1600x (stock speeds wraith spire rgb fan) Motherboard: MSI B450M gaming plus GPU: MSI RX480 gaming x RAM: 16GB G skill trident z RGB (3600mhz) PSU: corsair VS550 Case: coolermaster masterbox MSI edition now I would like to stick with team red foer the gpu and i have been looking at a RX Vega 64 liquid cooled (with a PSU upgrade to the recommended 750W) I also would like to have the least bottleneck on my system and preferbly game at 1080P 144HZ but i would like your input on which GPU to take for this upgrade. and please tell me why budget is around 300 euro or around 330 usd

Hello dear Linus Tech People I'm on BIG dilemma on what to buy Here is for what i need: I'm small youtuber who render videos for games (Mobile games) and work on old dell 3537 i5 lap-top and my CPU is really weak for rendering or recording games because its i5 4200u. I'm almost on 20k subscribers so i need something serious for playing games, streaming and recording. I dont plan to strean or record 4K only 1080p or 720p becouse in our country its not that fast internet for 4k and also in our small country only rich boys have 4k so i'm more focus on normal people who only use 1080p monitors or less Now in my country Ryzen 7 1700 its 380 euro or more and i'm hype for this but for me its problem Base clock of 3.0ghz and i dont like that now ryzen 5 will launch on 11 aprill and the one thats in my target its Ryzen 5 1600x 6/12 threads with 3.6 base and 4.0 turbo. Now my question is: Whats the best choice for me as Gamer and Youtuber? do i wait for Ryzen 5 and save around 100 euro with good Base and Turbo speed or go with Ryzen 7 1700 with 3.0 base speed? Just to tell you I HAVE NEVER DONE OVERCLOCKING so overclocking its not what i'm looking for Also i need for 720p/1080p streaming/recording also Rendering videos with Sony Vegas 13 and Handbrake I'm looking best value for the money and also that can doo what i need

So I've revised my future gaming PC build for over a month now, but I can't help but wonder if I'm doing it all wrong. I'm investing in a gtx 1080 and suitable monitor, but I don't really have the same desire to invest in a powerhouse of a processor like a 7700K. The ryzen 5 1600 or 1600X processors look much more appealing to me from a price to performance perspective along with the potential for light content creation and/or broadcasting capabilities. Regardless of processor, both potential PC's would be paired with 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz memory. Would an R5 1600 bottleneck a 1080 enough to take away from the gaming experience or even by a noticeable margin? If so, should I downgrade the GPU or upgrade the CPU? Any tips and recommendations are much appreciated by this first-time PC builder. Thanks!

So I reinstalled windows 10 from scratch, started installing drivers , Asus ai suit 3 caught my eyes It used to be kinda stable on Intel platform. So I wanted to try it out I ran it into optimized mode and it the started some tests , stress test with couple reboots for 55secs And then vola! 4.1ghz with 1.567v and then lovely blue screen! Even in bios it was running at 3.9ghz @1.5v so I kinda got scared and I removed CMOS battery followed by resetting bios ! After that I manually set CPU to 3.825ghz @ 1.270v Ran cpuz stress test over it , but Sexo blue screen shown up again! Hardware with error. Then I clicked on power save mode in ai suit , it did something dope! 2.351Ghz @1.5Volts !!!!!! I immediately shifted to performance mode Its Workin fine now but I'm still worried about Asus ai suit getting my CPU fried up! Btw I'm using cooler Master liquid 120 lite This is my first ryzen build so kinda skeptical about it ?

Hi I'm about to get ryzen 5 1600x as soon as it hits the market so I need a GPU for that but I'm not able to decide and I'm on a budget of ₹20,000 can anybody help me? I asked at other places and people said that the gigabyte rx480 8gb is not good as their temperature gets higher than other cards and I live in India so the ambient temperature of my computer room will be higher than usual

Just a question: if I were to invest in a Ryzen 5 1600X for high 1080p/low 1440p gaming, would my old RX 480 bottleneck it at all? Its the XFX reference model at 1288 MHz. This could potentially save me a lot of money if so. Thanks.

Whenever I turn on my PC it starts all the components (CPU fan runs and LEDs lit up and cabinet fans start running too) and then all of a sudden it stops everything for 2-3 seconds and then everything starts again (all the fans and leds and other components). My question is why does this happen? Does this mean that my motherboard is damaged or BIOS problem or does this happen with every Crosshair VI Hero motherboards? And in QCode LED, I always get 40 after booting my computer. What does that qcode mean because it is not given in the manual.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c7zsD8 The problem process is as follows: Install Windows, 7 or 10, 64 bit. I have not yet tried Linux, but I doubt that it'll do much better. Install MB drivers, Windows drivers and Video Card drivers, rebooting as necessary. (Note: I have varied the order of installs) I tried with the original BIOS ver. of 1.1 and have since updated to 1.9 and started over. Because of my unfamiliarity with BIOS updates on newer boards, I updated through every provided version in order, not wanting to accidentally skip any new features. Every time, without fail, while installing the R9 390X drivers, either via the provided disc, AMDs auto installer from their website, or through Windows update, I get a black screen. Once this occurs, there doesn't seem to be a salvaging of the system. Hard reboot produces nothing more than a black screen. The black screen indicates a lockdown, I cannot establish nor maintain a TeamViewer connection. Safe mode works, sometimes, but only seems to be useful for activating a restore point. I have also switched the Video card with these 3: Geforce 9600, Radeon HD 4800, and GTX 560. All video cards have issues in this build, and all video cards seem to work appropriately in other systems. I tried to reseat the Video card, and the CPU, with no change. As separate attempts, of course. I have gone through this cycle multiple times. It's gotten old, and I don't know what to do next. I'm trying to figure it out, while I'm still within the "Reasonable Return Period" window, which is well past for the R9 390X (So imagine my surprise when I FINALLY got to try it in another system, and it WORKED!). My thought is that either it's a bad motherboard, or the motherboard isn't optimized for that video card yet, which I feel is unlikely. Notes on the other video cards: Geforce 9600: Works fine, until I attempt to run anything even slightly pretty. The solitaire victory animations counts as slightly pretty. Connecting TeamViewer remotely will also cause issue. Radeon HD 4800: Upon loading into windows, the resolution was despicably low, and everything was in grey-scale. I don't know if it's related, but I couldn't get Windows to run the installer off of the originally provided disc for this card while suffering the aforementioned symptoms GTX 560: Nothing. Got a generic nVidia boot screen, which I'm used to seeing with this card, pre-post, but no actual post... Dual Cards: I did try booting with dual cards just as a "What the hell, why not?" scenario. I tried primary R9, and secondary 9600. Never got video from any source point. Reverse the cards, and it worked the same as just having the Geforce 9600, except now I would get BSODs of Thread stuck in driver... unfortunately I did not memorize nor snap a photo of the BSOD, because I had doubt as to it's relation to the true culprit of my woes. P.S. I attempted to scour the forums for similar symptoms for a few days, but there's only so much reading any one person can be expected to do before giving up...

So, I am building a system for video production and gaming (mostly at the same time) and find the Ryzen 5 1600x to be a good value option. Looking at video cards is a different story. I received a R7 240 (GDDR5) from a friend for free. Which I will be using until I can afford a replacement for. Seeing as newer games are every more VRAM hungry. I'm wondering to get the 1050ti or the GTX 1060 6gb. Obviously the 1060 will yield higher numbers but am wondering if my work load will benefit from the extra juice or just be more horse power for nothing. Incase your wondering; gaming at 1920x1080. Also producing at that resolution. In the future would like to step into 1440p (2560x1440).

I'm currently looking to upgrade my gaming pc. It's a dinosaur with an AMD phenom ii 925 cpu, gtx 460 graphics card, and some old ass mobo. Well, I want to focus on the mobo and cpu first of all, and I'll probably get a gtx 1060 or something along the lines of that later down the road. But the problem I'm having is choosing between the Ryzen 5 1600x, and the Intel i5 7600k. I've been doing research for the past 3 days on these two cpus, and I'm getting mixed information on benchmark results and preferences on either one. A lot of the benchmarks say that the i5 is superior for gaming, but the multi-threading of the ryzen is just insane, but people also claim that games don't even use more than 4 cores, so the extra cores on the ryzen are useless. If this is true, then why would anyone even consider the ryzen over the intel? For gaming purposes at least. Another problem I'm having is deciding what kind of mobo I should be looking at, if I'm going to go into a ryzen build. I don't know much about mobo's or what to look for besides the number of ports, and the compatibility with your cpu. All in all, I think people are extremely hyped over the ryzen, but I'm torn between the two, and to be honest, I'm tired of trying to decide between them. I just need someone to tell me which one would be a solid upgrade that'll allow me to continue playing newer games at a decent graphical setting. Specifically MMOs. Any information would be extremely welcomed, and appreciated. Edit - Oh, and also RAM was a big thing too. I eventually want to replace the whole system, besides the case. I just want to focus on the mobo and cpu first before getting into everything else! Thank you!

I'm a complete noob, but I'm interested in learning how to compare CPUs So what I've heard from a bunch of friends is that the R5 1600x is a better value CPU at $339.00 CAD. It's a better product for overall gaming, creative content, rendering etc. I was just looking at Ryzen CPUs vs i5 CPUs and I came across the i5 7640x ($345.00 CAD) and the i5-7600k ($335.00 CAD). My initial comparison of the specs showed that the i5 processors run at a better frequency and boost, while sporting slightly higher TDPs, and the only real edge the R5 1600x has; is the higher cache at 16mb. From my experience of overhearing comments about Intel vs AMD in the past, I've basically developed a rule of thumb stating that if you have enough money and budget isn't a problem, the Intel CPU is always the better, premium buy. However, if you're on a budget then looking at a counter AMD CPU might be the better option because of the lower cost. Now I don't know if this is right, but I've still heard a couple tech-reviewers mention this. So... why not just by the i5 7640x or 7600k? Basically the same price as the R5 1600x. How is the R5 1600x still relevant? Is it that the sheer number of cores allows the CPUs to be better at multi-tasking? Is this now just a problem of gaming (i5) vs content creation (R5)? If you get some time, help me out to understand what the benefits of the R5 1600x would be over these i5s. Thanks! Riqsha

Hi Guys!! I've been trying to overclock my Ryzen 5 1600X. After entering the values in the BIOS, when I boot into windows, and run CPU Z, it does not show the overclock. Even in Ryzen Master, it shows the stock frequency. But in Conebench and in task manager, it shows the overclocked frequency. Do you know what is happening? PS- I am using ASUS crosshair VI Hero.

Hello Everybody, I am new to this community. I have recently upgraded my system to Ryzen 5, here is my new rig,Asus Strix B350F latest bios Version 0805 AGESA 1.0.0.6aRyzen 5 1600XG.Skill FlareX 2x8GB F4-3200C14D- 16GFXAsus Strix GTX970Seasonic X-850 PSUWindows Version: 1607 (OS Build 14393, 1480)After Windows Installation: My problem is when I am running my PC just fine suddenly display turns of with or without vga error diagnosis led on mobo. Then nothing, it is not restarting on its own. Sometimes pressing power button also not force shutdown the pc. I need to turn it off by wall power switch and after only a complete power off it can be booted again. Now again no problem but sometimes I have received a bios message for setup it again. Switched GPU in a different PCIe lane again same problem after sometime. If I reset my OC profile to default it does not holds good. However I have tried full power off- reset bios- install gpu in 2nd lane then on and test = OK working. Again OCd CPU and after some time during stress test again screen goes blank and nothing can be done. There is something wrong in windows event viewer, in every core (all 12 logical cores) I have received a Error massage in Windows log>System: 1. I'm pretty much new with regards on building a PC so I did my homework while keeping on asking around. With regards to AIO or Liquid cooling, I haven't used one that's why I'm a bit iffy about my choice on the AIO from good/reputable companies and would match my Black-Red theme. Anyhow, this is the list of parts that I came up with: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y8kVzM 1. Budget & Location For the build I’m doing, I allocated a budget of 1000~1100 USD (converted and rounded up/down, to and from Php just to double check). Everything that I listed is available here in the Philippines though I’m on a strict budget since everything is coming out of my pocket. 2. Aim I don't mind having a lowkey or eye-catching rig out there so I ended up doing a Black-Red color theme. Thanks MSI Anyway, this build will be used for various gaming loads starting from PAYDAY2 to single-player games like Battlefield 4, Web/System/Game Development with some graphic designing and editing some recorded video clips from games. I would want it to last 3~4 years so I'm trying to pack a lot of stock power before I start tweaking and overclocking stuffs but I’m not really sure if this would actually be future-proofed. 3. Monitors I’m only going to run with a single monitor, currently utilizing my 1366x768 monitor but will actually purchase a 1080p monitor within a span of ~3 months prior in completing the system. 4. Peripherals I’m good with my current peripherals that I’ve purchased. As for the OS, I’m opting for Windows 10 64-bit and is already waiting for my system. 5. Why are you upgrading? I’m using a 8-year old OEM PC from HP. It’s still usable for daily tasks and light workloads but I can’t really play newer titles since I'm well-aware of its age. I wouldn't really kill this system since I do intend on showcasing this in my room.

Just saw the youtube video "Our Smallest Gaming PC Build EVER!" on LTT channel so I had the urge to join the "micro build club" November 2018 I decided to get a project finished that I started half a year earlier. Since I had given my own PC with AMD FX 8350, GTX 1050 ti and 16Gb of DDR3 1600mhz to my oldest son I decided that papa needs a computer of his own. I had bought a cheap AMD Phenom X2 case in a small pc format and came across a Mini ITX motherboard for a good value of cost that I saw fit. Trouble was that the original 250w PSU was not sure to handle what I had in mind. But I decided to try it out with the new MB and RAM I just got. So I was pretty proud to start up my Ryzen 5 1600x with my old GTX 1050 ti and find out it was working. But sometimes I felt it was struggling. So... In december 2018 I had my new setup at home and was ready to get my gaming refreshed and be the gamer I was ment to be. ? I play all my games on high/ultra 1920x1080 and games include Destiny 2, Overwatch, Diablo III, Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, Rise/Shadow of theTomb Raider (actually in 3d on my Benq w1300 beamer) aso.... Hi all! Okay, so here is the story: I was running a User Benchmark test of my gaming rig the other day (Here are the results of the test) and I noticed something strange: My CPU (While performing very well) was performing below expectations in the 35th percentile. So I decided to run cinebench to see what kind of score I was getting and the same again: My CPU is not performing as well as it could, or as well as it has done in the past. This is the best I could achieve in cinebench, one was as low as 1320! Don't get me wrong, my CPU is still amazing overall, I just want to know why it might be doing this. Oh, and my CPU is overclocked and overvolted to 1.4V @ 4.00GHz. Does anyone have any ideas? (Feel free to ask questions about my rig and my software etc if it can help to diagnose the issue) Thanks! Addendum: Oh, and I know one of my SSD's didn't get benchmarked for some odd reason, I'm already working on fixing that as I think it's a firmware issue.

Hello everybody ^^ After a strike of luck, I am finally able to upgrade my build to the current generation. But lady luck is a foul mistress, because our economy is going bananas as we speak (The current currency rate is: 40AR$ = 1US$, for now...) These are the CPUs I've got in mind: The Ryzen 5 1600x and the I3-8100 Both CPUs are around 7000AR$ (That equals around 180 freedom bucks plus change, IF the currency stays at the current rate) I am looking to get a decent CPU that will handle live streaming (480/648p 60fps, because my ISP sucks) + "low end" gaming I just want to run some oldies such as TES V, the CoD saga, GTA, PS2 emulation every now and then, rhythm games and maybe AAA titles at 1080p low (or mid...) I am thinking of pairing either CPU with a budget motherboard (A b350 for amd or a b360 to LUCKILY upgrade the CPU to an I5 in like..10 years...) and 16 gb of ram. My current build: fx4100 (don't laugh at me, I was once like you ;; ) gtx 1050 2gb (SSC) 8gb of ram DDR3 Corsair CX550m Should I follow my heart and go for it? or is there a better config for my needs. p.s.: Since I don't know if my current cooler (hyper 212 plus) will be compatible with the AM4 bracket that CM sells, I am buying a cheap cooler for the AMD cpu. Any help's appreciated, thank you for reading this wall of text and have a wonderful day!!

I've recently upgraded my graphics card from an RX560 to an Nvidia 1070, the model is the inno3d iChill x4. As well as this I upgraded my PSU from a dodgey second hand 580W PSU to a Coolermaster Masterwatt lite 600. It turns out this power supply Isn't enough for my setup, but how could this be? Or is there another issue? And if it isn't enough how much do you i think I need? GPU: Nvidia 1070 Inno3d iChill x4 CPU: Ryzen 5 1600X CPU Cooler: Coolermaster masterliquid 120 Storage: Sandisk 256GB SSD, 350GB 7500RPM HDD. RAM: 8GB Corsair led vengeance.
