Budget: $1000 / $1500ish USD Country: USA Usage: Video Games, school work, editing photos If anyone has any component recommendations for a $1000 - $1500 gaming PC it would be greatly appreciated. I’m planning on buying in a month or two but I’m willing to buy sooner / earlier if needed. I already have peripherals and a 1080p 144 hertz monitor from my previous setup with my Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop so that doesn’t need to be included in the budget (I know around this price range it’s worth investing in a 1440p monitor and I’ll probably upgrade that in the future).

Budget (including currency): £500 GBP / UK – would prefer to stay within this budget, but if there are options that would be recommended on certain parts for example spending an extra £20-30 here and there to get a slightly upgraded part, I would be happy to entertain it if you are able to provide a justification etc. Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: System is going to be used for playing MMORPGs online. Primarily Old School Runescape with 8 clients or so, but would like to player newer titles from Steam too. I have previously used the below laptop which was able to run 8 Old School Runescape clients pretty well although there would be times it would be choppy, but naturally would like to upgrade to a proper PC: Laptop Model: HP Elitebook 820 G4 CPU: Intel I5-7200U @ 2.5GHz RAM: 8GB Storage: 256GB SSD OS: Win 10 Pro The aim is to have multiple clients open at the same time – commonly called multilogging. Monitors At the moment I am using 2x 32” old style LCD TVs via HDMI + a HP UltraSlim Dock where they are both connected via Display Port to HDMI converters. As it stands I am happy to stay with these 2 LCD TVs, but eventually would like to move towards some 4k screens / monitors in the future. The resolution is currently 1920 x 1080 on each screen. When I get 4k screens, using NVIDIA’s Dynamic Super Resolution might be something I am interested in. Peripherals The £500 budget previously stated does not need to include any peripherals as I have: Mouse Keyboard Speakers Regarding OS, I am intending on using Windows 11 and have factored this into a separate budget, but if there are any deals that included a cheaper Windows installation or it pre-installed I would happily entertain it / accept recommendations on where to get the key from. Why are you upgrading? Nowadays I am spending a lot more of my freetime / hobby time gaming whereas in the past I would mix it up with sports / pub / watching sports / tv / films etc. My previous PC was given to me from a local university as they were throwing it out and involved ridiculously old hardware from the mid 2000s. It struggled to run 4x Old School Runescape clients on a GT240. I recently got to borrow a HP Elitebook 820 G4 for a while and managed to get 8 clients running although it was a little choppy. I was surprised to see these knocking around on Ebay for just over £100 each, but going for an Elitebook doesn’t seem a smart thing to do for a gaming ambition. The plan is to give the Elitebook back to the friend once I have a PC. Initial thoughts (based on initial Amazon / Ebay / Facebook Marketplace prices that I have found) CPU: Intel Core i5-11600K 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor – £160 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB Video Card – Standard / TI / Super £120 RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz – £37 Storage: 500GB NVMe Solid State Drive (SSD) – Firecuda 520 Series £43 Motherboard: ASUS Prime B560M-A – £90 Power Supply: 550 Watt 80+ Bronze Certified Power Supply – £55 Case: Fractal Design Focus G ATX Mid Tower Case but very flexible on options to reduce the budget – £65 I am very flexible on design / colour / aesthestics – I would prefer not to have a huge amount of RGB, but if the parts are cheap and already have it on them, I’ll go for it. I am also not in a major rush to buy the parts and get it built – I am happy to shop around, wait for a sale, or do some dumpster diving / asking around stores for parts / haggling.

Figured I'd post here as well as in Cases World... Original thread: tl;dr 5700X w/ 240 AIO, Zotac RTX 2070 Super Mini, in a Lian Li 205 case (solid front panel) CPU runs 65-70+C and GPU runs over 85C during 1440p/165 gaming. inb4 *The AIO was Powerspec's choice, not mine; I know it's way overkill for a non-OC'd 5th gen Ryzen 7. *I also realize 1440p/165 is probably a big ask for a 2070 Super; I limit FPS in-game frequently to 120-144 to keep the GPU from wanting to take flight or melt. Looking for any recommendations for: 1. sub-$100USD tower cooler (preferably sub-$60USD)? I'm leaning toward a Deep Cool AG400, Thermaltake UX200, or maybe Cooler Master Hyper 212. --This is happening ASAP. My AIO has developed a tick in the pump at full bore recently; I've bumped the pump curve down which helped, but I don't like that noise at all. 2. fan config? I'll have 2 fans at my disposal after I replace the AIO. I plan to put 1 in the rear to help throughput. --Other fan in the top rear maybe? Leave it out for positive case pressure? --There's 2 fans in the front pulling in as much as they can suck through the 205's side vents. 3. case recommendations? My Powerspec warranty is either up or close enough, so I'm not married to the 205 anymore. This'll be a little further down the road. --mid-tower ATX on the cheap-ish. I'm thinking the Lian Li 205 Mesh Type C or Lancool II Mesh, Corsair 4000D Airflow, or NZXT H5 Flow. Anything helps. Thanks, everyone!

First LTT forum post; bear with me... The Pig I bought a Powerspec G706 ~3 yrs ago from Micro Center. It came with an AsRock X570 Pro4 and Ryzen 7 3700X, but after the CPU and mobo borked each other last year, MC replaced them under warranty with an Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wifi) and a 5700X. CPU cooler is a Cooler Master 240mm AIO, and GPU is a Zotac Gaming RTX 2070 Super Mini. (inb4 I know a 240 AIO is way overkill for a non-OC'd Ryzen 7; Powerspec's choice, not mine) All that goodness is packed into a Lian Li 205... with a solid front panel. Visions of an angry Steve Burke dance in my head LOL The Problem I noticed while gaming at 1440p/165 that HWInfo shows the CPU around 65 to 70+C, while the GPU sits solidly at ~86C; Is this normal for a 2070 Super? The side panel gets HOT to the touch next to the GPU, and the air coming through the AIO on top is very toasty. (inb4 I do realize 1440p/165 is probably a lot for a 2070 Super; I limit FPS in most games to 144 or 120 for sanity's sake cuz I can hear the GPU preparing for takeoff) I did notice Powerspec started using the 205 Mesh once they started putting 5th-gen Ryzens and RTX 30 Series in the computers... coincidence? I'd love to eventually upgrade to an RTX 30 Series, but in this case I'd rather not melt the dumb thing. The Solution? Any recommendations to help this pig chill out? *I'm planning to replace the AIO with a tower cooler very soon (e.g. Deep Cool AG400, Thermaltake UX200, Cooler Master Hyper 212); any recommendations around the sub-$60, even sub-$100 USD price point would be very helpful. --I could then move 1 of the top fans to the rear to help air throughput. --I have 1 extra fan then... leave on top in the rear? *I also believe my warranty is now up, so replacing the case isn't out of the question. I'd like to keep to a mid-tower on the cheaper side. Any thoughts on cases would be appreciated. Thanks, y'all!

Hello, my friend asked me for advice, since he wants to buy new headphones for better quality and doesn't really know what to get. He has a budget of 130€ Wants wireless headphones. Wants to use it at home to listen to music, play video games, watch movies/series/videos and stuff like that, which means they shouldn't have a high latency. I guess anything under 100ms should be fine. He wants to get the best quality he can. He likes Metal, Rock, Phonk and Electronic music.(if that makes any diffrence) Can you help me find something for him?

I am just a student who's been saving for a while to gift my dad a new work from home laptop. He currently doesn't have a good one, and somehow manages easy parts of his work in a 4 year old i5 laptop. It's been struggling for a couple of years now, especially with him moving to 3d applications. He also hasn't bought a new one yet because his budget is not the most flexible right now. Finances are tough these days. By profession, he's a CAD Designer. Buildings and all. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, he does it all. 2d AutoCAD and 3d AutoCAD. Sketchup Pro, Adobe Lumion, 3d Rendering site layouts and all the stuff. He's teaching me his workflow a little each day so I know some of it. I don't know a lot about his work requirements in detail, but I have seen him leave his laptop for 2 days and all for a single sided view of 3d plots to render, so it must be really graphically intensive. He usually works at late hours in his office since he doesn't have a capable device at home. I've been looking online for solid Laptop Workstations. I tried Workstation Desktop PC's, but he is on the move usually. Moving out with his team to various plots and sites and all. His colleagues are MacBook users but he doesn't want to get into the Apple Ecosystem. I did come across the DELL Inspiron 7750 with a custom configuration which I chose on what I saw worked best online (Attached pdf). I'd like some advice from the tech nerds in this forum, and besides, it's Linus' Tech Forum; there's always a damn high bar to the professional opinion I can get from here. Any and all opinions are accepted. (P.S. The configuration I've chosen may be powerful enough to handle his tasks, but it is still a good way off my budget. I don't want to cut corners for my dad, but I'd also appreciate if someone could offer alternatives to such a configuration. Budget constraints are hectic, and being a student means sources of income aren't the best either ) dell_custom_7750.pdf

I know that this sort of question is probably pretty common here, but I haven't found any threads that really answer my question and I am so tired of trying to cross-reference conflicting articles and listicles (can't wait for LTT labs). I bought my M40x headphones ~5 years ago as my first foray into "real" headphones and have been pretty satisfied. Unfortunately, years of abuse are finally catching up with them (a natural result of their budget build quality) and they are in dire need of replacing. I am looking to collect some recommendations from the community based on the following criteria to help narrow down my research . Budget: $200~$300 somewhat flexible if there is a significant benefit closed back for noise isolation in both directions relatively flat tuning - I listen to a wide variety of media and I don't want a "signature sound" messing with my experience physical cord preferably removable/replaceable wireless would be a nice bonus, but it is not at all necessary This topic is meant to be a sort straw poll to get a better idea of what models to look at and what specs to look for, so a brief explanation for the reasoning behind any recommendations is appreciated. Amps and/or DACs are a topic I have not really delved into yet, but if it seems like they are an important consideration at this price point, I will do some more research or maybe start a separate thread to get some advice. If there is any other information or criteria I should include here, please let me know and I will try to update this post accordingly. Thank you all ahead of time for your replies. A knowledgeable community is worth hours of googling.

What's up, first post on here. I recently upgraded to an RX 6800XT and I'm enjoying cranking the settings on my games. The only problem is, there's only so good it'll look on my $600 Dell TN panel monitor. So I'm looking to upgrade, but I don't know what to get. The pinned guide was helpful, but I still don't know what the current models are that I should even be comparing. Here's roughly what I'm looking for: 27-34" physical size, can't be too heavy as I'm going to use it on a gas spring VESA arm mount (I'm actually having a hard time finding high quality monitors this small, seems manufacturers want to put big numbers on the box even if 48" isn't practical for a lot of people) No less than 2560x1440 resolution, you could sell me on 4k but it's not a requirement No less than 144hz refresh, but I'm not a good enough gamer to benefit from anything higher FreeSync support Keep the tacky gamer styling to a minimum, if it has any RGB it must be possible to disable it without installing any extra software on my PC Given the above, best picture quality/minimum artifacting for up to $1000 US, maybe $1200 if it's an incredible deal EDIT: To be clear, I'm aware of the general differences between panel types, I'm looking for recommendations for specific models.

Alright alright alright alright, Just got a new workstation PC, and am looking to upgrade from on-board graphics to dedicated. I have a core i5 10400, and 12 gigs of ram. Just decided on the 1660 super, and am now looking for best after market config. I don’t use my system just for gaming, I frequently use Photoshop and I am a coder, so I lean more towards mixed workflow than simply gaming. Monitor is 1080p 75hz. Max 250 CAD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. also, any suggestions on ssds? Just looking for 128gb to 256gb, nothing major. Looking to spend 100 to 150 CAD.

Hello, I am looking for a new headphones now that my Razer Krakens are literally falling apart on my head. I am searching for a good pair that is preferably wireless and can be used for gaming/web surfing comfortably for 5+ hours a day. I have a few in mind, here is a list with prices: Bose qc35ii with an external mic : $320 Sony wh1000xm3 with an external mic : $250 Beats studio3 wireless with an external mic: $120 (Is currently absurdly cheap here) Logitech g pro X wireless: $220 Razer Nari Ultimate : $220 (interested in the gimmick) Audio Technica ATH ADG1X : $250 I loved the sound of my Krakens a lot more than my in ears (sennheiser street ii and cx300) but I havent tried anything other than Ath adg1x, which I loved the sound of, but I dont think I can use them outside. I live alone tho, so in house use is not a problem. Beats is also very very cheap, and I can buy an additional headset for gaming with it, if that is something you would recommend. The less I spend the better, but I am willing to spend 300+ if it benefits me more.

My office at work doubles as an inspection room, and has a large portable air conditioner that has to be running at all times to keep the temperature standard. This machine is extremely noisy and makes talking to my boss on Skype (he's old) a nuisance. Can one of you fine folks recommend an inexpensive (up to $150 US) headset with solid noise canceling on both the headphones and the mic. Audio quality isn't important as long as it's possible to understand voices in both directions in the call while the AC is blasting. Wired is ok, but I can also get a Bluetooth dongle if that happens to be the best option.
