bought a used LGA cpu that when installed in a motherboard it causes some ram slot to not detect ram, i've tried occupying all ram slots and swapping same gen cpu and all works fine, what causes a cpu to work perfect only causing certain specific ram slot to not detect ram on a motherboard?

Hello! i was messing around in BIOS and saw a intresting ram option that said ram error message(img 1), its description said it checks if the ram modules are in te correct places when you start up. i wanted to try it and sure enough the error popped up. i first moved the ram modules to the other slots and still error, then put them back, switched and checked, all of them had errors((img 2 is the mtb location). i choose to put 1 ram module into the best slot following the error and it worked(img 3), i switched the ram modules and it still worked. so when using 2 ram modules it says its not optimal(img 4), can someone help/explain this? thx!!!

Has there be a video about a 16gb ram being just 1 stick memory put in your motherboard or 2 8 gb ram for dual channel or maybe 4 4gb ram to fill all your slots?

So if my CPU cooler extends over my RAM channel 1 (the one closer to the CPU) preventing me to put my tall ram in channel 1(A1, A2), do i put my ram into channel 2 (B1, B2) and leave 1 empty and second, does this configuration have any effect on anything that way? Thank you

So.... My girlfriend's computer has one of the aforementioned motherboards, an i5 3570k, and xfx 850w gold power supply. I bought it off of ebay a year ago, had no issues at all with it until recently. I even showed it lots of love, put it in a phantom full tower kitted out with noctua fans, recently delidded the CPU (a couple weeks before this incident), and I keep her computer super clean thanks to this "compu-clean" device I have that's like canned air on all sorts of steroids. I come home from work a few days ago and she says "I have really bad news, my computer crashed today and keeps restarting when I try to turn on". By the way, it crashed while she was browsing the internet.... not gaming or anything like its used for almost 24/7. It was getting error code 55, which points to ram, so I tested every possible configuration, even with different brands of ram I had lying around, and no matter what I did, slots a1 and a2 will not work, so no more dual channel mode My question is basically, how the hell can this happen? I mean I get pretty much anything is possible when it comes to electronics breaking, but I've built at least 20 different pcs for friends/family and a few strangers, and I have only seen 1 part fail, POWER SUPPLY, and that was ONE time. (While I'm thinking about it I even tried putting an 850w EVGA platinum power supply and it still had the same RAM problem) I'm a big believer in low temps and airflow for longevity, and this particular CPU never got above 55c after delid under load (and that was the hottest core, really never went above 50c). And its also the same ram that's been in the PC since day 1 (g.skill). Forgive my fragmented thoughts, and I get that this is more of me venting then a question, but if anyone could share any knowledge related to ram slots crapping out I would appreciate it, and if anyone has any suggestions to try and fix that would be really awesome, although I've tried everything from removing cmos battery, updating bios, booting with/without sata drives, with/wo vga card, etc. This will definitely be my first and last time with ASROCK, I already didn't like the bios, HATED the fan control (was like something from 2000....), and now this.... Hi. I built my PC in late December and already knew about the practice of putting RAM in alternating slots for Dual Channel. But my Mobo has all-black slots and the manual seems to put slots 2 and 4 next to each other, closest to the CPU. I wondered about this for a while but just decided to put them in as it seemed to tell me in the manual, though manuals always confuse me. If someone could either reassure me or correct me, I'd be at ease. This is my mobo: Gigabyte - B450 AORUS M Micro ATX AM4 (pcpp link)

I am currently buying a custom pc build rig. I am using the ASrock Z370 Extreme4 and wondering weather or not i HAVE to populate all RAM Slots with 4GB ram sticks. I am looking to have 16GB ram and it is cheaper to have 2 8GB ram sticks. Will the motherboard support this?

Hello, First of all I'm french so please apologize my mistakes. I'm planning on painting the Asrock Z97 Extreme6 motherboard. I will receive it next week. I thought painting the heatsinks (vrm + chipset) and two ram slots (the blue ones) in RED. Pictures here : I choose this motherboard for all it's features intead of the fatal1ty professional one because the fatal1ty is a bad family talking about benchmarks etc.. The thing is, I dont know what I need : - Which thermal paste ? - Which spray not to make heatsinks overheating ? - What to use to protect the "Asrock" and "Z97" in Silver ? - What to use to protect the componments while painting the ram slots ? Painting Forewarning: I'm aware this is quite a large post so I've tried to make the layout as easy to read and concise as possible (it's also my first ever post/thread so go easy on me ) Okay so I've been wanting to colour match my PC and accessories now for a while, luckily a few of the items are already colour matched and look amazing but there is quite a few bits that look very out of place. A few things that don't really need it may also get a make over . The overall theme that I'm going for is black with blue accents. I'm planning on using Plasti Dip Blaze Blue as the colour difference between the LED light seems negligible (standard blue is also an option). Standard Black for the bits that require it. Items that are already in line with the theme include; Case: Thermaltake A31, has blue accents and also has a 120mm blue LED exhaust fan. Keyboard: Ducky DK9008 Shine 3 (Cherry Red MX Switches), blue LED. Bits that definitely need work; Is black and yellow themed which looks extremely ugly in contrast to everything else. This is probably one of the hardest items to paint IMO as both of the bits I'm looking at colour matching is extremely small and detailed. The mouse wheel (I guess I'll have to take the mout and the Zowie logo (although I may just paint the whole surface black). I may also do the bottom depending on how thick Plasti Dip goes on (its feet are fairly thin and I don't want to compromise the integrity of the smooth feeling, but damn its ugly) Motherboard: Asus Z87M-Plus Is also black and yellow themed (ughh how did I somehow manage pick this colour theme twice....). Wanting to get rid of all the yellow parts so the north/south bridges, SATA slots x6. One of the main problems I see is my wanting to paint the yellow RAM slots (luckily two of the four are already black) as well as the 3 yellow PCI-E slots, I'm not sure if these cant actually be painted but I really, really, really.....want to get rid of the yellow. I'm also considering doing the whole IO shield but I'm still tossing this up. RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident-X 1600Mhz (8GBx2) These were originally the reason why I wanted to get painting, the gaudy red mixed with the yellow clashed a lot against the blue. I know the fins should be fairly easy to do. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do about the sticker along the side of the sticks, I may end up just removing it and painting it black (i f its not already underneath) or possibly do both sticks entirely blue. Not so important bits; Fairly happy with how this looks (partly because its upside down orientation means you cant see much of it anyway) but considering taking the metal shroud that encases the 3 fans off and painting blue. Monitor #2: DELL SE197FP Wanting to get the bezel to be the same matte black finish the the monitor on the right (BenQ XL2411Z) and obviously the stand. I'm not sure if it'll be possible to do the menu, positive/negative and power button but that doesn't bother me so much. The only worry I have is getting around the dell logo (I don't necessarily want to compromise that). I'm not really sure how to tape off something that small for example inside the 'D' and the 'E'. Sleeving/Cable Management My PSU (Corsair GS600) is obviously non-modular so is sleeving still an option? I would want to eventually sleeve all the cables from the PSU blue aswell as the few SATA cables I have (can SATA cables be sleeved?). Opinions on what brand (ease of use/quality) etc would be welcome. Also I had to get a plain white/semi see-through molex adapter because the 8 pin connecter to the GPU couldn't reach as is, so I guess I'll need to get a custom one either blue or black to match the rest (most probably black). My cable management seems fairly tangled and messy, I had to try and get every last little centimeter out of the cables just to get things connected. As you can see with the 8 pin CPU cable, I had to route it under the gap between the motherboard and GPU because I had no chance getting it up and around the back and then the impossible angle to actually get it in the socket). Do I need to get cable extensions or something? Here's a picture of the internal's: Liquid Cooling ​I'm hoping to one day very soon, get a Corsair Hydro H105 and replace the two SP120L's for two SP120 Blue LED's to help complete the look as well as adding four AF120 Quiet Edition Blue LED's, replacing the existing case's stock exhast and intake fans and supplementing another intake at the front and another exhaust at the bottom. Corsair Hydro H105: SP120 Blue LED's: AF120 Quiet Edition Blue LED's: My one question regarding the H105 is I have no idea on the power draw of the cooler, can my Corsair GS600 take that along with the rest of my system?
