Any recommendations for a portable monitor for around $100 CAD that has the following: USB-C DP-Alt mode Charging host device through its 2nd USB-C port Decent brightness Great color accuracy 1080p or 1200p @ 60Hz Planning on making my Steam Deck as full-time laptop replacement. Also, the $100 requirement is with discounted price. If there are options out there that aren't on sale, I'd still like to hear all the same.

Hi! I'm just curious, what would be the best portable monitors for a macbook pro?

I just ordered an Asus Tuf Gaming B450M Plus II motherboard. I looked at the specs and manual and all I can see is that the USB-C port is USB 3.2 Gen 1 with speeds up to 5Gbps. I'm looking at portable monitors and many of them use USB-C for power and video. Anyone happen to know if I could use this motherboard's USB-C for display output?

I'm a tech professional with a penchant for travel and I've been considering putting together a kit that would enable me to throw an entire workstation in a pelican case and work from remote locations. Downsizing my PC is easy with modern SFF stuff, peripherals are small, but from what I've seen portable monitors still seem to suck. For a user like me for whom "portable" really only has to mean "I can put two in a case and take them on a plane" $300 for a decent 15" portable monitor seems steep. Have any of you tried taking a smaller desktop monitor like the LG 22MK430H, rehousing the panel, adding a protective flap and a travel stand? Anybody have experience with something similar?

HI I want to by a portable usb type-c powered monitor for my laptop. Maybe anyone could suggest something. The monitor should be 15.6 up to 17.3. There are a lot of options but it would be great if it would be a touchscreen and even cooler have and active pen/stylus(or at least support for it as a additional purchase). I would greatly appreciate all suggetions on good options. Thanks

Hey, I want to build a portable secondary Monitor that I can use with my Laptop (I HATE working on a single Monitor.) Does anybody have a recommandation which screen I should buy to build one meself? I am looking for a cheap Model, about 12" to 14" would be nice, also 1080p resolution, though 720p is probably better for Battery life I guess. I need a controller Board for using the Screen too, so that would need to be cheap too - I already got a screen, but a controller board would cost like 50€, so I would be interested in a cheaper way.

If you want more info on the laptop go here: Now for the interesting part:I have an external GPU (over expresscard) for my Precision M6700, I was looking for a way to use it somewhat as a portable ish self-contained unit without needing to carry my 24" monitor and corsiar keyboard around. so I stumbled across these little display controller boards from eBay (China.. they are from China.../). For over a month I searched for one that works with a LTN173HT02-D02 (the screen I have because it's compatible with the M6700 and is 120Hz) and I could not find one so I resorted to messaging random sellers of boards similar to what I need and seeing if any of them have a board that would work, after a back and forth conversation with tenwings2007 on eBay he not only modified the power circuit to support 5V backlights but apparently improved the driver to get it to work (HUGE shoutout to that eBay seller for doing this, I'm so thankful for him finally ending my search for a board). But now that I found one I needed to attach it somehow and get it all working. (well the attaching part was pretty easy, the board is super slim so slapping it on the back of my laptop with double sided adhesive works perfectly.) My original plan was to use a super short HDMI cable from the port ont eh back of the laptop to the input on the board but it appears the HDMI inputs only work once a video driver loads so I ended up just scrapping that Idea and using a mini DP to DP cable for the eGPU and laptop, I just swap the cable once windows loads and the eGPU display out works. I only just finished setting it up and as you can probably the it's power setup is kind of jank (well all of it is jank, but the power setup is SUPER jank), it's just a spliced molex connector twisted to the barrel jack (the PSU they supplied only supports 180V-220V input and i'm in the US so that wasn't an option.). the eDP cable just runs from the inside to the outside through a little slit I cut in the plastic bezel around the display. If you have any questions feel free to ask, Ill link the board I used but keep in mind they are display specific as far as I can tell, so MAKE SURE YOU FIND THE ONE FOR YOUR EXACT DISPLAY if you plan on doing something similar.

I have an AOC I160FWUX portable USB type-c monitor. It works with my Huawei p20 okay. Any windows 10 device I try fails to use the display. It detects the display as a billboard device. The driver came on a CD and like who's laptop has a CD drive these days! I have put the drivers on a USB and installed them on my laptop but still when I click on update drivers and go to the folder where they are they do not show up as selectable. Would anyone be able to propose me some great usb controlled portable monitor for day by day use? I have been utilizing ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC 15.6-Inch 1080p IPS Monitor for a significant long time however now thinking for a change. Also i have read this article but couldn,t able to make any decision.

I use my personal laptop at work more than I probably should. I also use my computer for a lot of projects while on the go. I travel a good bit and it seems I always have my laptop. I need a second monitor to be able to work on the go and one that can fit in my laptop backpack. I am currently looking at "ASUS MB169B+ 15'.6" portable monitor but I notice some people seem to be having issues with windows 10. My laptop is a windows 10 home edition with a GTX 960M and a core I7-6700K. I also have 2 USB 3.0 ports and a type C port. I am wondering if this is my best option in my price range and if not can someone help me out. I am not looking to spend more than $250 on a portable monitor but I would like it to at least be 1080p screen. Thank you in advance for any help.

Hey guys! I have an old laptop that I don't use anymore, and I was thinking of using it as a travel machine to dump pictures I take on, but as I started to think about my idea, I realized that it would be nice to be able to use it as a monitor for my Nintendo Switch when I'm on the move (since the dock is so small anyway), but I found no ways to just get my HDMI signal to the laptop except for expensive capture cards. Is there a better option? Is my idea worth it at all? Am I just better off buying a portable monitor for that kind of thing? I'm pretty much just curious at this point. Solutions will probably be unpractical since I have a 720p panel on my laptop and an Intel core i3, but it's something I'd keep in my mind when I'll probably need to upgrade when going to college soon if there are any minimal requirements. So hit me up with your best options, even if they wouldn't work on my laptop, I'm just really curious!

Hi everyone this is my first topic so i hope it work So i have this idea of having like a portable monitor that i could bring with me to every place and see like if be in my room, for doing some taks outdoor, see videos, etc. the things that i need is: PC (check) Portable Monitor (i do not know if there is like a HDMI + USB for charging with a baterry bank) $200.00 maxs (but if i need it to i could think the price) HDMI WIRELESS $? max baterry bank $40.00 max (thinking in the Anker 20100 of amazon) any cable necesary for this to work! so as you can see i need a lots of help so if you know what is the best wireless HDMI or have a portable monitor that you can recomend help me plz and if you thinks that this is impossible let me know as well (SORRY for my english my native lenguage is spanish)

Hello. I am building a "LAN style" Portable PC for my friend. Everything is very portable so far except the monitor. I looked on google and found a few options but they all were too small. Minimum resolution of 720p, He really dosen't care about high res, he just wants 60fps Anyone know of a good one? He can't spend over $120 or so USD.

If I was to do an ITX build, on to carry around at play with at some friends houses. One that would've basically work like someone bringing his console over... If so... I would need a monitor for it. Doesn't anybody know about such builds, has done one or just has a general idea what to look for in monitors. It seems kind of complicated to me since monitors I know are big and bulky standing on your desk. I would need something like a 17" and lower size. Resolution of full HD is desired but not necessary, it just should not be ... Garbage . Any ideas. Please too not suggest a laptop with an external desktop hip like the MSI ones or Alienware ... To expensive.... And so forth.
