Source: https://www.shroutresearch.com/blog/2017/2/24/anecdotal-early-amd-ryzen-pre-orders-show-exceptional-demand This is very interesting... Ryan Shrout stated that in launch day their amazona affiliate orders were over 100x higher than average, indicating that normally they only get about $3000 a day but on February 22nd they got $300,000 worth of sales through their amazon affiliate account. If we just do some quick math, we realize that goes to about $60,000 in sales of Ryzen CPUs or about 150 or so Ryzen CPUs. While that may not seem like a lot, you have to take into account that this is one tech youtuber on one website. If we take into account it seems like on day one in pre orders alone amd has probably had at least a few thousand sales in desktop CPUs for a CPU that has not even been released yet! This is very impressive. And the most interesting thing is sales of other components went up a lot as well, which indicates people are building brand new systems and/or doing huge upgrades to their pc, all because of Ryzen. Everyone knows the desktop pc market has been shrinking but perhaps with Ryzen this could be reversed. As well, seeing as pre orders already saw at least a few thousand Ryzen CPUs what could this mean for when Ryzen reviews are out? And this is only their 8 core CPUs! These are astounding numbers and exciting times for pc users. I'm honestly stoked to see what this could mean for everyone.

The final pcper review is here: https://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/Radeon-Vega-Frontier-Edition-16GB-Air-Cooled-Review Very Interesting and worth a look! The Fallout 4 Benchmark was corrected everything else seems to be the same. And finaly from the professional standpoint it looks a bit better. Professional Benchmarks: Bonus: Nude Vega https://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Radeon-Vega-Frontier-Edition-GPU-and-PCB-Exposed ----------------------------------------------------- Old Post ----------------------------------------------------- Today pcper gave us a behind the scenes Livestream of their Vega Frontier Edition benchmarking and at the end we got a sneak peek of their gaming results. Please visit pcper.com tomorrow to get the full Story. I will link it here when it goes up! Here are some early gaming results. The benchmarks are not 100% done and more cards & productivity benchmarks will be added. Gaming: 2560x1440: Gaming 3840x2160: Source Video with some timestamps: 1:19h ethminer 1:36h excavator mining 1:42h gaming benchmark results 1:44:45h Ryan Shrout's closing thoughts The first half of the stream is missing. In my opinion the gaming results are not great. It will be hard to price Vega FX competitivly if it uses HBM and only performces a bit better than a GTX 1070.

So Jim over at @AdoredTV has had a rocky relationship with PCPer over ethics and review methodology in the past. This time Jim calls out PC Per for outright journalistic ethics violation. The issue surrounds the founder of PC Perspective: Ryan Shrout, who has launched a new company called Shrout Research (https://www.shroutresearch.com/). A company making paid white papers and other things for tech companies. An issue with availability of Intel Optane drives, that Intel paid Shrout Research to make a white paper for, concluded in a favourable review on PCPer. A review of 4 drives at a time when other larger review sites had less availability. To put it into perspective, LLT just uploaded their youtube vid of the 900p, and they where only given 1 drive: Whereas PCPer had a 4 drive setup back in October 2017. (Image seens been removed, now only 2 drives). The issue here, is of course, conflict of interest, which can result in massive bias and favourable reviews, which goes against the basis of journalism. The video also points out anti Freesync nonsense that was never corrected. Enjoy. It's important to note that this is just an accusation. I personally like PC Per and enjoy their reviews and podcast a lot (specifically the SSD reviews ironically). However, this is clearly a conflict of interest. I don't blame Ryan Shrout for making a research company in tech, but he can't do both at the same time. And he cannot have Allyn Malventano do both jobs and still be objective. Well, I guess he could, but it's simply too easy to question objectivity. Update: Jim did not ask for a comment from PCPer before uploading the video, and has closed it down until he gets a response. https://twitter.com/AdoredTV/status/956983524002852866 Update 2: After having made the original video private a few times, it looks like it's up again. @AdoredTV has uploaded another video with PCPer's official responses. A full retort from Ryan has been published on reddit: (Thanks to @Taf the Ghost for the link). Do bare in mind that AdoredTV's videos are banned on that subreddit, so massive bias might be a thing. I don't know if Jim's profile is banned on that subforum. Apparently, there has been some doxxing and threats towards Ryan from PCPer. This is both appalling, and well... irrelevant. That is for the police to handle. No one is free from critique under the guise of personal safety. But doxxing and threats are unacceptable and, of course, illegal. At the end of the day, this is a case of journalistic ethics. Some believe laws and journalistic ethics are the same, but that is not necessarily the case. It has a lot to do with credibility and especially transparency. Most of what PCPer has done is fine, as long as they are transparent about it, and make it clear to everyone. That is something they have ignored and even with their new changes, it is clear they are adamant about it. That being said, I think Jim from Adoredtv is overreacting about the perceived threat to him. source: https://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/GeForce-GTX-1080-and-1070-3-Way-and-4-Way-SLI-will-not-be-enabled-games the original story was that nVidia will only support and encourage people to use 2 way SLI; and at request they will provide a driver key to unlock 3 and 4 way nVidia statement on the GTX10xx SLI matter: nVidia is backing away from the special driver key, but 3 and 4 way SLI will have a limited use and gaming is no exception even Ashes of The Singularity is limited to two cards, MDA mode

source: http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-Confirms-Clock-Speed-Power-Increases-High-Refresh-Rates-Promises-Fix two weeks ago, PCPer wrote an article that investigated increased clocks / power usage with certain refresh rates; you can read it here: http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Testing-GPU-Power-Draw-Increased-Refresh-Rates-using-ASUS-PG279Q nVidia replied to PCPer: --- thing is I read about this issue long time ago, about the time I researched the GTX970 as a possible purchase ok, they acknowledged it .. but, these things should happen sooner; there were already user reports on the issue, this is not OK when it's a reaction to a press article but, I salute the press that does it's job and points out flaws in the software and / or hardware

I think we can all agree that PC Perspective's review of the Logitech G29 racing wheel is way better than LTT's. pcper: LTT:

My YouTube inbox gets "spammed" with their videos, which doesn´t interest me because i dont enjoy watching the people doing it. But i realy like Linus and Slick! Watching them since 3 Years... PCPerspective's Ryan Shrout reviewed his own developer kit of the Oculus rift. this looks really awesome....He brought up some cools issues -low resolution being bothersome (mentioned higher resolution lenses being in the later versions) -motion sickness? -strange controls -light headset -realistic feeling of depth some things I noticed. the right and left eye will see two slightly different images (in optimized games) making it more immersive. does not seem good at all for FPS and other genres where you need to precisely and quickly aim/shoot. seems like it could be very good for simulators (racing games, flight simulation, etc) what do you guys think of this? Original story here : http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?481437-No-Man-Left-Behind "Twelve years ago I met this guy at work, who shared common interests in PC hardware & PC gaming so we became friends. I introduced him to this PC hardware enthusiast site which had a Gaming forum where a casual gaming group called the Fragging Frogs lived. That was Feb 2002. He joined the forums and the Fragging Frogs and has been a gaming regular ever since. The member I'm talking about is Tom, aka tlemaste or Kernal_Tom on the "Battlefield" Back then when many of us joined PC Perspective it was actually an AMD focused site called amdmb.com, and it was here that many of us got our love for AMD hardware. For me, I was always impressed with the value/performance AMD offered. Eventually the site changed to pcper.com and became a more generally focused PC enthusiast site. Over the years Tom continued to be dedicated to the AMD brand, while many of our members switched to Intel CPUs - we called that "going over to the dark side" In those days, like most of us, Tom enjoyed upgrading his rig to play the latest games. That's usually easy to do when you are working, but Tom was regrettably forced into an early retirement. Tom will be the first to tell you that being on a fixed and limited income doesn't allow for many of those system upgrades. Tom now has an aging rig that is just so-so at playing modern games like Battlefield 4, and Battlefield 3 before that. I should mention that the Frogs have a history of helping each other out passing around excess hardware when possible - in fact, Tom's current rig contains a video card, RAM, and a hard drive given to him by other Fragging Frogs. Being one of our more "senior" gamers hasn't stopped Tom from being a very dedicated member of the Frogs and to PC gaming. To this day he still games regularly every week and can always be found on TeamSpeak. Even personal hardship doesn't get in the way of his love for gaming. In 2011 Tom's house was flooded (the 2nd time his house was flooded in just 5 years) although fortunately his gaming rig was spared! While cleanup efforts were underway, Tom needed a place to stay so he and his wife lived with my family for a few weeks. I remember it well - his PC was setup on my kitchen table with a long network cable running to a wall port in the living room For those few weeks that's how he attended our gaming nights. I wanted to share some background info about Tom because I have some exciting news to share. As most of you know we have an offical AMD representative among us, Sam aka Warsam71. Besides his official duties here Sam also has a love of gaming and joins us occasionally to play Battlefield 4. I approached Sam about Tom's situation and he generously offered to help. Help how you may ask ..... ? In honor of Tom's dedication to gaming, the Fragging Frags and his ongoing devotion to AMD, our friends at AMD have presented Tom with a BRAND NEW custom built all-AMD high-end gaming rig !!! Check out these impressive specs: AMD FX-9370 8-core CPU Corsair H100i liquid cooling system ASUS RoG Crosshair V Formula Z motherboard AMD Radeon DDR3-2133 16GB (2 x 8GB) Memory Diamond Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB GPU Samsung 250GB 840Pro SSD Antec High Current Power 750W PSU Bitfenix Ronin case After several weeks of planning I was finally able to present the rig to Tom on Friday Feb 14 - making it a Valentine's Day gift from AMD It was a complete surprise to Tom. It took several minutes for the shocked look to leave his face. I'd like to specifically thank Sam for making it all happen and James at AMD for doing such a great job on the build of Tom's rig. Please join me in congratulating Tom on his new AMD rig and thanking our friends at AMD for making it all happen."
