Hey, I have experience building PCs, and I have worked with them for a few years now. I am in need of replacing both of my main workstations/gaming machines. I have had in mind and idea of what I want for each machine and would like to get opinions, ideas, possible part lists, whatever comes to mind. Build 1 (Main Priority, Full Gaming PC) Budget (including currency): $3000 - 5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Video Editing Unity Engine Unreal Engine Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 7+ years old. Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) I have look into the following prebuilt from Origin PC as my base idea of something I would want: https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is merely intended for gaming purposes as well as being used for occasionally work on Unity and Unreal engine making video games. It also needs to be capable of smooth video editing. Build 2 (Less Priority) Budget (including currency): $3000 - $5000 US Dollars. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Play any game 60FPS+ at Min 1440p Unity Engine Unreal Engine Microsoft Visual Studio VS Code Rider (https://www.jetbrains.com/rider/) Streaming Video Games (ideally being able to stream any games without issues) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): From my current build the only piece of hardware that I am planning on keeping is my Game Capture 4k60 Pro from El Gato https://www.elgato.com/en/game-capture-4k60-pro No other existing parts for this new build as this is supposed to be a replacement for a computer 5+ years old. (This computer has been refurbished by me so it has many technical issues and quirks that I would like have addressed with a new build) Ideally to buy ASAP Ideal Resolution 1440p Ideal Refresh Rate 60hz + MUST BE SMALL (Constantly moving around the USA in the last few years and relocating to different cities, the idea would be to have a small tower that I can easily put in my car and move from City to City) HOWEVER, since I am planning on keeping my Game Capture 4k60 I know I can't go with a Origin PC Chronos V2 choice as it does not have enough space to fit this extra PCIe card. https://www.originpc.com/gaming/desktops/chronos-v2/ This built is intended for gaming, video game development, coding, and game streaming, similar to the previous build but it will see more usage on technical stuff. Thanks for reading! :)

The screen goes black for 1-2 seconds and comes back on. And on the top left it says "Displayport 1" or "HDMI 1" or 2 depending on the port I'm using. This happens completely at random whether it's in game or on the desktop screen. -The entire system has been replaced -the gpu has been RMA'd three times. -windows 11 has been reinstalled numerous times. -I reinstalled the graphics drivers countless amount of times. -I've kept the drivers up to date. -I have replaced the displayport cable 4 times, each time with a new cable. VESA certified displayport 1.4 cables, once with a displayport 2.0 cable to see if that would work. -I have gone through 3 NEW monitors. -I have used different displayport ports on my gpu. -I have turned off gsync. -it happens with hdr on and hdr off. -it has been plugged into the wall, and into a 1000 watt uninterruptable power supply. My PC is an Origin PC with an RTX 3080, AMD Ryzen 9 5950x with an ASUS B550 UNIFY motherboard and 32 GB of Ram. This same problem persisted on a completely separate machine. I've experienced this issue for a year and I'm at my wit's end. This issue has caused me immense stress and anxiety that I've been getting ready to give up so I'm posting this out of desperation.

I've heard they have the safest shipping with the crate option. and the combo i decided to go with was a 5600x and a 3060ti. my question would be is this combo (as well as 32gigs of ram) pretty safe for the next 2 years at least? i play on a 1080p monitor. would this be enough to "future proof" upcoming games? I'd like to be able to play high settings even ultra 60fps min for a couple years

I placed an order about 3 weeks ago for a pretty nice Neuron, and have been looking forward to it. What should have been a great experience has turned into nothing but frustration and a lost customer . The crux of the issue is delivery. I work, not from home, and can't be there for delivery. Common issue, and I have always been able to have the package held at a UPS facility for pickup. But apparently OriginPC has a new policy, not documented anywhere in the purchase process, that disallows this. They can *only* deliver to your house - at whatever time UPS decides they want to stop by. When I called in the message from customer service "yeah, this is a common issue since we started this during the holidays due to theft. Wish we could do something about it, but accounting won't let us". After trying to escalate I just got the same story - and no willingness to budge on the sender UPS instructions. So I ask for a refund, since I haven't taken delivery of the package, and to their credit they went ahead said they issued a return to sender request. But they won't issue the refund (even though I have never taken delivery of the PC), because they need to "inspect for damage first". Their terms and conditions ( https://www.originpc.com/legal/termsandconditions/ ) apparently make the customer responsible for any damage in shipping - "Title and risk of loss to all products will pass to customer upon shipment from ORIGIN PC’s shipping location, to the extent permitted by law". Way to sneak that in there as well, guys. You got another one over on the little guy, well done large company. I guess the silver lining is I learned a bit about what customer service looks like at Origin - "we'd like to help but accounting won't let us" before I took delivery (here's hoping UPS didn't damage anything) -- but this is not at all what I expected from a company that supposedly prides itself on customer service.

Here is a question that some people will find useful. Should you buy a iBuyPower Rig, or a OriginPC? Both brands are popular and make great rigs. But which one is better?

A few weeks ago, I’ve decided to order an AMD 3900/3950x (eco mode) laptop. I don’t need it for gaming but for mathematical/statistical/engineering/graphics programs, some of which can utilize the multiple cores of these CPU’s. A few of these programs are very disk intensive. That is why I preferred PCIe 4.0 support for the storage. (e.g. Seagate FireCuda 520). Problem is that all (or most) machines on the market are Clevo laptops (under various names) using only the B450 chipset which does not support PCIe 4.0 for storage. (At least, that's what AMD claims). I’d like to share with you my good as well as bad experiences with the various vendors who offer the a/m laptops. Let’s start with the good guys: HiDevolution: They simply do not offer a PCIE 4.0 SSD at all. Their sales representative, Donald Stratton, told me, flat & square, that the B450 motherboard does not support PCIe 4.0 and that’s the reason why they won’t offer 4.0 compatible disks. 10 out of 10 in being honest with a customer. Bestware.com (Schenker Technologies GmbH) They do offer the Firecuda 520 with their Ryzen 9 laptops. Only after explicitly asking them about PCIe 4.0 performance, their sales representative, William Börjesson, admitted embarrassedly that “The Seagate FireCuda 520 works with PCIe 3.0 too, but it will not reach advertised speeds.”. 7 out of 10 for honesty. Now to the bad guys: Origin PC They do offer the Firecuda 520. I asked them: “You offer the 2TB Firecuda 520 NVMe which is a PCIe gen 4.0. Does the motherboard really support PCIe 4.0?” Their sales representative, Jacob Neta, answered confidently: “yes”. I was quite surprised, so I asked: “What chipset do you use for the PCIe 4.0 storage support? I know that the B450 does not support it.” Jacob Neta was not a person to be confused by facts, so he promptly replied: “Unfortunately we don't have those details, but it supports Gen 4 Fire Cuda's” I then dared to ask him: “I need to know the AM4 motherboard model for various reasons. I’d be grateful for this info. I’m certain that your technical staff knows the answer.” I never got any answer for this. Good Jacob has disappeared from the face of the Earth. 0 out of 10 for honesty. I leave you to draw yourselves the conclusion from which vendor to buy your next laptop.

Noob building a pc for 3D modeling/rendering

Budget (including currency): 3,500$ -4,000$ USD Country: Puerto Rico Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Lumion, Revit, Blender,Other Autodesk programs Mainly will be used though games will be played from time to time. Ive been jumping from site to site and forums trying to figure out a way to build a pc properly that can withstand and run my programs with ease, especially with Lumion. Until now i got this done in Origin since it will give me everything in one place; Case : MILLENNIUM Chassis Side Panels : Tempered Glass-Aluminum Interior Lighting : ORIGIN PC RGB Lighting Processors : AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core 3.8GHz (4.6GHz Max Boost) Motherboard : ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO WiFi Memory : 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 3000MHz (2x16GB) System Cooling : CORSAIR H100i PRO XT RGB Case Fans : ORIGIN PC Maximum Fan Kit Graphics Cards : NVIDIA 11GB GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founder's Edition GPU : 1 Operating System : MS Windows 10 Home Hard Drive Cage : 5 Bay Hard-Drive Cage Operating System Drive : 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus PCIe NVMe M.2 RAID : No RAID Hard Drive : 1TB Seagate BarraCuda SSD Hard Drive : 1 Power Supply : CORSAIR 850X RMX SERIES PLUS GOLD PSU Power Supply Sleeved Cable : No Sleeved Cable Audio : Integrated High-Definition Audio Networking : Onboard Network Port Now all this look fine but i dont know if its going to be efficient or even work. Tips about all of this is greatly appreciated. This PC wil be my precious and will be essential for my studies in architecture. P.S. first time posting in a forum, if i put it in the wrong place or something do tell. -
Dear Linustips team, I got my dream laptop for data analysis by OriginPC, EON-X 15 AMD Ryzen 3950X 64GB DDR4 3200Mhz RTX 2070. OriginPC added GELID GC extreme to both CPU and GPU (for a fee). However, the laptop was suffering from thermal throttling and I had to disable throttling through a group policy and through power settings on Windows 10 pro. Now the laptop runs at 3.8-4.0 Ghz and the performance is great. The problem is that now the fans are blowing so loud (at 80%+) and the speakers are good for nothing. I got a KLM laptop fan pad to get the temps down from 80's C to 70's C for CPU, and from 50's to 40's C for GPU. Still, the fans blow really loud. Is it worth applying liquid metal thermal paste to this rig?

Hello there, Recently, my somewhat old computer has been slowing down recently (2015 build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Prezeo/saved/#view=xrTcCJ) and believe I am due for an upgrade. I am coming to LTT to ask a couple of questions about what my next move should be dealing with a new computer. First things first, as of February 2018, should I even consider building a new PC? Like is it worth it with bang-for-buck? I am aware that the whole bitcoin situation seems to be slowing down, or at least what the stock prices look like. I built my first PC and had a lot of fun with it, and I would LOVE to build a new PC, but I am not wanting to waste a dime if I have the choice to go with an alternative option. Secondly, if I were to go with the prebuilt route, where would be a reliable place to get one (Online, such as CyberPower, iBuyPower, OriginPC, etc.), and what I should be looking for when searching. I am looking at this option due to being able to pay monthly for the computer itself over a period of time instead of having to haul the $1500 I am wanting to spend all at once. I'll ask more questions once I get a feeling of what I want to do. Thanks all! Matthew

Hey Linustechtips Community, recently i discovered the website originPc dot com, where u can build a Pc. You can choose out of certain selection of products and after that you get your fully customized pc send to your home, already build together. What do you guys and girls think about the website? and do you think it's overpriced or fair for the user? Thanks in advance -Flonsen

custom pc Should I buy from OriginPC or build one myself
sakibsadmanshajib posted a topic in Off Topic
I want to have a gaming rig. Should I buy from OriginPC or build one myself. -
I am a Digital Designer, and I've been working with a Apple computers for more than 5 years now. It's time to invest in a new more powerful computer, and I don't live in the US, so I've been researching computer building companies like Xidax, Origin PC, etc. Xidax seems to offer the best deal, specially because of the Lifetime Parts Warranty and their customer service has been great so far. They've helped me with my build and answered all my questions. I wanted to ask around if anyone has any reviews or experience with this company, specially because I am ordering from another country I want to make sure I make a good investment. NOTE: This is intended as a workstation build, NOT a gaming rig. I use the Adobe Suite and mostly work creating motion graphics, video editing and 3D (I use C4D+Octane Render but still have to use C4D's render from time to time). Also, I am NOT considering building the rig myself for a main reason, and that is that I live in Venezuela, and having parts (or anything for that matter) shipped here is already very expensive, a huge hassle (shipping and mail don't work here anywhere near as good as they do in the US). So ordering all the parts, have em shipped all the way here and then having a part not working correctly or something go wrong, I can't just return the part because that would mean more money spent in International Shipping, plus more time to wait, and more hassle, so I decided to go with a company that can build the computer for me, test it and guarantee that it will work as soon as I plug it in. Here's the build that I am planning to buy: MSI Z179 Krait ATX Intel Quad Core™ i7-6700 Processor - Liquid Cooled 32 GB DDR4 RAM Corsair 750W PSU 24x Asus DVD-RW combo PCI-Express Wireless-N Adapter NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980ti 6GB - Overclocked 240Gb SSD + 1TB HDD (x2 in Raid 1) Windows 10 Home Premium 64 bit FREE Rise of Tomb Raider Game FREE Lifetime Support _______________________________________ $2,634 Total Keep in mind that a build made at Origin PC with 16Gb of ram and a GTX 970 came to about $2,800 so this is still a better machine and at a better price. I was suggested to make a Xeon based system in another forum, but to my understanding those are WAY more expensive and apparently Xidax doesn't offer Xeon based systems, OriginPC does, but they start at more than $2,500 and my budget (including shipping) is $3,000. Of course I want this system to be future proof, as I would like to be able to upgrade this to better CPU's/GPU's/RAM as time goes by and technologies advance, but I am talking in a few years. Here's the link to the configuration I have going at Xidax > https://www.xidax.com/desktops/x-6/?saveconfig=86160, feel free to edit anything, and to save the configuration just hit the button at the top, enter your email and then copy that link from your email and paste it here. I really appreciate any help from anyone on this! Thanks!

Basically, I don't have the time or the room to build my own custom PC. Also, I'm kinda bad at it. That being said, I'm in the market for a high-performance desktop and sourced one through Origin PC. Attached is an image of the build (the screenshot is cut off, but shows all the components). I'd love the communities suggestions on the components, if you think of something better for the price, please let me know! I'm showing the price they charge as I'd like to know if anyone could source a good custom PC with similar specs for less. Please note the ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ is included in the price. Let me know if you have any suggestions or edits you can recommend! So as many (if not all) of you know PAX Prime 2013 was a few weeks ago, and i was able to go. I attended a HyperX raffle and won a great prize, a HyperX system built by Origin PC. Here are the Specs: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600MHz Memory Kingston HyperX 120GB 3k SSD Intel Core i5 3570k Processor ASUS P8Z77I Deluxe Mini ITX ASUS DVD Optical Drive EVGA 500w PSU EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Graphics Card Origin Prodigy System Chassis Origin Frostbyte 120 Liquid Cooling Windows 7 home Premium I know it isn't the best build but i am extremely grateful i got this, especially since it is better than the build i have now. Origin is shipping it to me so as soon as it arrives i am going to do an unboxing of it and take video/pictures for the forum! Thank you all for taking the time to read this post!
