Hello, I have just recently noticed something strange is happening when trying to charge my phone with a type c cable to type c from my motherboard. My phone is a samsung and It's displaying "x" amount of battery and "x" amount of time until it's fully charged. Whenever I plug it in it will not go up / down and just stay at the same amount of battery percentage. I'm not sure what is causing this and all my usb devices are up to date. I wonder if this is just something wrong with my motherboard. or the cable. Another thing to note is that I don't hear anything on my windows when i plug it and isn't detected in file explorer "This PC" which it did used to. If anybody knows why it's doing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Motherboard: B450 GIGABYTE AORUS PRO (non-wifi)

Hey there, hope you're having a good day! I definitely had not, but let me give you the situation first: I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 that has been opened up before (Battery replacement). Therefore it was not watertight anymore and I got it liquid damaged. I dried it completely, discovered that some parts of the motherboard were corroded and wrote that off. On a local site for used items I bought a Note 9 that had its front and back glass completely shattered but worked fine all other ways. I took the motherboard and battery of that and put it into my phone, which worked perfectly for an evening, charged perfectly normal for one night and now does not anymore. (Using Ampere) It shows me that its discharging about (-) 200-220 mA, but when plugged in only gains 100-160 mA but stays very consistantly at 150mA for the most. When opening Ampere for the first time, it showed ~600mA, but quickly dropped to the aforementioned values. I use an Anker 25W Dual Port Charger (12,5W per device). I immediately thought of two things: further corrosion on the old parts (i only replaced the motherboard and the battery) or a mistake on my part putting it together. While both would be possible, it did work perfectly for a night so..?? Anyway, I replaced the charging port with the one from the "broken" phone i had bought as well as the battery with a brand new one. Same thing, ~150mA when charging. What I also noticed was that the wireless charging didn't work since the first repair. I thought the contact pads (no connector, its just Pads pressed onto the MoBo) were corroded from the water too, but I changed the coil and therefore the contact pads to the one from the "broken" phone which also looked very clean and the receiving pins on the mobo were changed with the MoBo anyway. When placing my phone on the wireless charger, it detects it but flashes, meaning it cannot charge. (Also, while writing this, Ampere showed "cold" (plugged in, but not charging) for a few seconds, but it went back to charging ~450mA and then quickly down to 150-220mA again). Now, what could be causing this? With some googling, it seems like most Samsung phones like do just stop cahrging, but I have not found a "charging, but not gaining battery percentage"-problem like mine yet. What could be causing this issue? What more could I try to fix it? Thank you for your help and time! -Jonathan from Germany

My brother just got back from uni and told me his phone started not charging for over a month now. When I tried to charge it, it shows this. My theories are fried mobo, broken battery or malfunctioning USB C port. Any ideas on what is it and could I repair it myself?

Hi, I recenly got a laptop from a friend of mine. It was all good to the last moment but all of a sudden it stopped charging. Even the little LED signaling the charging doesn't come on and the power supply is not the problem because I've tested it on a few different ones. Any ideas? I can solder and I do a lot of DIY stuff so I can disassemble it. EDIT: IT CAN'T TURN ON I FORGOT TO MENTION LOL

Hi, my friend has a dell laptop and it is not charging from any charger at all. we have tried 20 different chargers and even chargers that have been verified working and that charge other dell laptops. we have tried different batteries as well and the same result. on startup it keeps telling us that it is unable to determine what charger we are using and it also tells us in Windows. i am starting to think that the charging port or cable connecting it to the motherboard is to blame or possibly the the charging controller on the motherboard. whats your guess on the problem? i feel like the charging port or cable is to blame mostly because we have tried 65W, 90W chargers and they charge other dell laptops fine but wont charge me friends.

EDIT: Info OS: Windows 10 Pro: 64bit HP Elitebook 8570p Export of msinfo unsuccessfully attached(getting error -200) http://pastebin.com/dEuCbE0m So I have this laptop, I inherited it from my father (he got a new work laptop). Everything was fine until the AC Adapter shorted and I tried to fix it I had an old 2-pin charger with the right voltage and amperage but it didn't fit. After doing research on google I discovered the 3rd pin was only used to ID the adapter as being original(simplified). I cut off the 3-pin connector from the shorted adapter and found a diagram telling me which wires were ground and which v-out. I connected them and nothing... So I swapped the wires figuring I had connected wromsinfo32.txtng *facepalm*... After plugging the adapter into an outlet and hearing the distinctive noise of something being shorted and seeing my laptop screen go dark. I unplugged and tried turning it on again, nothing.... My dads new work laptop luckily used the proper adapter and I was able to see that the laptop was in working order... mostly The battery was not charging so I figured it was ruined and ordered a new one. (In windows it said "Plugged In, Charging, 4%" but it never gained any charge, not while sitting idle or turned off) My dad permanently borrowed some adapters from old laptops at work and I got on with my life expecting the new battery to fix everything. Only it didn't. I received the new battery today plugged it in and nicely surprised when it arrived charged to 34%. After playing for a couple of hours(plugged in) I checked the battery level and it was saying "Plugged in, Charging 34%". It hadn't charged, so I decided to see if I could play on battery alone and I could. Since then I have tried a variety of fixes: Uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager, then searching for hardware updates Uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager, then restarting Power off, remove battery, hold power button for 1min+ (to deplete an internal battery) Cleaning the battery connectors Trying different AC adapters Booting a Ubuntu Live DVD to see if it was a windows problem Disassembling the laptop to check the soldering on the battery connectors TL:DR; Tried to fix my laptop adapter - fucked up my laptop Next step, venturing into the BIOS Any suggestions appreciated

my laptop will not charge when it is open and running. I have replaced the battery and the charging port with known working ones. when I plug in the charging cable my computer recognizes and begins charging and with in 30 seconds it stops. I'm running Windows 10 x64 and I've uninstalled and reinstalled my battery drivers in device manager. the laptop will charge normally when it is closed and sleeping so I think this is more of a software issue than a hardware one but Idk. I'm out of ideas and my only conclusion is there's something wrong with my motherboard. I hope that's not the case, any assistance is much appreciated!

Hey all, I've been tearing my hair out with this laptop. I bought a used Dell XPS 15 9550 from eBay and I cannot get this thing to charge reliably. The AC adapter has to be plugged in juuuuust right for it to charge and it can take upwards of 20 unplugging and replugging attempts sometimes. If it isn't just right, I will see the charging indicator come on for a moment and then go out again. It will power the laptop, but won't charge the battery. I even purchased another OEM power adapter, but that exhibited the same behavior. I have also tried to go the USB-C route. I bought a cheap 87watt adapter and for the first day it was great and charged it perfectly. I went to plug it in again and it powers nothing, Windows will make a system tone indicating something has been plugged into the Thunderbolt port and it knows it, but no power. I tested the adapter on some other usb-c devices, but nothing. It's dead, and I don't know if it is just a cheap piece of Chinese garbage or if the laptop is somehow to blame for it, or some combination of the two. I'm about at my wits end. I'm considering putting it back on eBay and selling it at a loss (I don't want to go through Dell's out of warranty process since I've heard nothing good about their servicing). Does anyone have any experience with this machine? tl;dr: my laptop won't charge, pls halp

I purchased a MSI GS63VR during Amazon Prime day this summer and it's been great until about two weeks ago. Long story short, I have noticed that the laptop randomly "disconnects" from the adapter when the adapter is still completely plugged in. This started as rather infrequent in occurrence, but that quickly changed. Fast forward to the last 3 days, the computer has been a nightmare to deal with. I now have to situate the cord in such a way so that the laptop recognizes it and charges. Any bump at all and that connection is lost. I have tried to find different methods for a temp fix, such as propping the cord or having some simple tape hold it in place. However, even that no longer works. I few things I have noticed are:* The port seems loose. When I plug it in, I can move it up and down - when I lift the adapter up the connection is recognized and when I lower it down the connection is lost* The adapter and the charging port get VERY hot - which makes me believe that there is a bad connection some how between the two, which is causing an increase in the resistance in the connection and that creates more heat. * No visible damage is present on either the port or the cord throughout - again, it's only a semester old and I take good care of my devices. This leads me to believe that the problem does not lie in the cord but in the motherboard D/C female port. This has somehow become loose and no longer charges properly. The port looks something like the following: http://www.dcincable.com/msi-ms1757-ge702oc20c-ge702od20d-ge702oe20e-series-power-jack-connector-charging-plug-port-dc-in-cable-input-harness-wire-p-6389.html I am asking if this hypothesis is correct and what I can have done about it. It is still under warranty, so I will very likely have them do it, but they say that it will take upwards of a month before I get my computer back. As a college student, this is worrisome with classes resuming in 3-ish weeks. Also, would it be possible to request them fix multiple other minor issues when I send it in (the plastic clips holding the laptop back exhaust plate are nearly completely broken off and it can fall off with a simple lift with the finger.) Thanks,

Hi everyone, I'm new to the LTT forums but I'm not new to their videos. I'm also relatively new to posting on forums so if I've made a mistake somewhere or if you'd like to tell me the norms of a forum (specifically this one) please tell me! So I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, it's about two years old, and yesterday when I unplugged the computer, from "100% available", and web browsed for about 5 minutes the laptop shut off immediately without warning and the battery/charging light was blinking orange. I plugged the laptop back in and turned it on. It booted up and everything was fine (the battery indicated "6% available (plugged in, charging)") and I left it plugged in and I finished my work. However, after about a couple of hours the battery still indicated "6% available (plugged in, charging)". The issue is that Windows 10 tells me it's charging when it really isn't. I looked up solutions online and here is what I've tried so far: 1. Leave it plugged in overnight (still "6% available (plugged in, charging)") Early afternoon the battery indicated "3% available (plugged in, charging)" and later in the night it indicated "0% available (plugged in, charging)" 2. Disconnected the battery, cleaned the contacts, tried again 3. Disconnected the battery, unplugged all chords, pressed and held power button for 30 seconds (I guess to discharge the capacitors?) 4. Deleted the battery charging driver (that thing) in device manager, reinstalled it At this point I'm thinking the battery is faulty but I just want to make sure since I've never really had this problem before and I don't want to drop about $75 on a new battery. Also it may be important to note that I've had this laptop plugged in for about 3/4 or 2/3 of a year now. I don't move it around a lot but I'd still like the option to do so. If you have any suggestions or explanations as to why this happened it would be greatly appreciated!

Today my Galaxy S6 stopped being able to charge from the wall adapter and cable. I tried using a mix of 4 different USB cables and 4 different wall adapters, neither seemed to charge the device. The device now only charges through the USB ports on my computer with any of the fore-mentioned usb cables. I cleaned out the USB port of the device to receive no results as well. Also, when my device is plugged into my PC to charge (I am running Windows 10 and used USB 3.0 port(s)), it comes up with an error message every other time randomly, either stating that: "The last USB device you connected to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it.", or simply bringing up the device on windows explorer as "Name's Galaxy S6" with no files inside (even though clearly it has files/folders etc. Any help re-guarding this will be greatly appreciated. Update: The phone also charges EXTREMELY slowly on the PC's connection.

iPad Mini 2 not powering off, not charging, connecting to wireless networks and not being recognized by computer. My older iPad mini is not charging, is not powering off (however all other functionality of the power button is fine), is not connecting to wi-fi (going into settings and selecting Wi-Fi freezes the app), is not being recognized by my computer (the cord works) and assistive touch works (other than power off function). Any ideas?

Hi LTT forum, Hey Crapple (Apple) Fans I need help. Because I have seen that Android is indestructible. I have a clients iPad mini that will not charge, turn on or be recognized by a PC. I have tried holding down the home and Sleep/on off buttons, and nothing happens! I might think that its dead.

Battery 0% Plugged in, Not Charging - Laptop ASUS-X550DP
ZeferiniX posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Was all fine this morning but after some googling, I discovered that the Wear Level is 61.77% and I think I should be worried. Can this still be fixed? At least make the battery last a few minutes? Can someone enlighten me about batteries? This is a Li-Ion battery btw. Any info is appreciated, thanks
