Hi Hivemind, So, basically I have been scouring the internet for months. MONTHS! *thunder* and I am slowly turning insane because as usual every corner of the interwebs says something different (mostly talks smack). I have bought a Ryzen 7 3800x on Black Friday and I am building a system around it. Because of my case, it has to be Micro ATX it can be whatever (read below). I assebled a PCPartPicker list of the parts I was looking at. With the exception of the second motherboard (listed below). Graphicscard isn't my current priority, I just want a better system than the one I have right now. Also no Watercooling, as I am absolutely paranoid about them and can't afford replacement parts for the pc in the forseable future. Country: Germany Budget: listed below, but in general kind of 100-200 Euro per part. Please be advised, the actual cost in terms of the numbers is higher in euros, so a 170 quid piece on part picker is 200 Euro on the german market... yay paying premium for premium currency... and no, because of international shipping and tolls, ordering over the US would not give me any decent profit margin. What I want to do with it: A bit of everything. I draw, I 3D model, I watch videos. But all of those as a hobby. My main purpose will be gaming. 1080p most likely, purely cause I am using an old gel LCD IBM monitor and my priority is rather to have the rig done (including GPU) before I look for anything outside of it. Parts in Possession: Ryzen 7 3800x with Stock Cooler VIBOX Commando Case Red (And Glowing red all round) (Can fit ATX & has holes for it, but that would push the Mainboard pretty tight against the Diskdrive and Harddrive Cage) https://www.vibox.co.uk/element 1x Diskdrive (installed in the case, I use it at times, question is if I should remove it for more space/flexibility. would potentially allow for more front fans, but the case has a closed front anyway so...indifferent) Palit GTX 960 4GB JetStream (old card from a friend, before that I had my beautiful Zotac GTX 650Ti Boost fighting to play Monster Hunter World. this will stay in until I can afford a Zotac RTX 2060 Super AMP! or 2070 Super AMP!) SanDisk Ultra 1TB SSD (I want at least another TB and if possible a 500-1TB NVME PCIE 3 or 4 M.2 for my boot) The old PC will be scrapped/used for emergencies. Parts that I have been looking at: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 3.9 GHz 8-Core Processor $338.99 @ Amazon Motherboard ASRock X570M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $177.99 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill Aegis 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $69.98 @ Amazon Memory Patriot Viper Steel 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory $84.99 @ Amazon Storage Sabrent Rocket 4.0 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $119.98 @ Amazon Storage SanDisk Ultra 3D 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive $119.99 @ Walmart Storage Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive $114.99 @ Adorama Power Supply Corsair RMx 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $179.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $1206.90 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-15 12:35 EDT-0400 For the mainboard, my decision fell on either the ASROCK X570M Pro4 as listed above, or the ASROCK B450M Steel legend. The reason was, up until I saw a picture while litterally writing this, I thought ATX would also get wider than microATX, instead of only taller... I have spent months debating this flippin motherboard and I could cry now... Fudge me... anyway. In this case, while ATX would mean it sits a bit tight against my PSU, I don't mind suggestions toward ATX mainboards. However the current board inside is Micro-ATX Same for the RAM it is either 3000 or 3600, or whatever is cheapest and does the job to be honest, after so many tests claim that the RAM speed has barely any impact? on the 3rd Gen Ryzen processors. I would like the powersupply to be modular if possible, but if that luxury costs me 50+ quid extra, I would be wiling to side with a semi modular one. 650 W was listed as enough (with another 100 W margin) even with a future gaphicscard according to PartPicker. With regards to further cooling, I wanted to get some of these: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B06WD5ZVRG/ref=psdc_430200031_t1_B00VRKVGUA?th=1 They seem to be cheep, get the job done, and are 18-21Db. I need quiet fans as the pc is sitting on my table with the "look inside" panel, which has a fan (feels like output, not sure) is facing toward me. Which currently makes it slightly uncomfortable to play highend games when all the fans ramp up. Like "I need to speak louder so my folks can hear me in discord" to "I can't hear anything outside this room" kinda loud. 2 on the top of the case (output) and maybe one on the back as input. Reason being, as can be seen on VIBOX website, the front panel, while it can be folded open, is mostly solid. The only input is two small areas toward the bottom front. I have a phobia of watercoolers, as I don't think that damage is in the warranty for all of the other parts and depending on if I get back into a future Uni course or not, I will not be able to pay for replacements if the watercooling decides to duck me over. Anyway, That is all, for anyone that read this far down, thanks so much for any insight or advise, Take care and hope to hear from yous all soon, I'd like to get this done before the lockdown lifts, if possible. Kind Regards and stay healthy, Daniel

Budget (including currency): 3500 USD Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Work – Remote Software Support, Coding, Zoom Meetings, small amount app development, graphics editing Play – CAD (Sketchup, Blender, Fusion 360), 3d Scanning (Meshmixer) Games – MMO( WOW, AA, Ashes of Creation (eventually),Elite Dangerous, FPS Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I used to be a heavy gamer, I still play but more casually, I work in software support and development and I indulge in 3d rendering, CAD, and printing if I ever have free time. I haven't built anything since my last PC in 2016 and while I have kept my eye out here and there on new stuff coming out I really haven't paid close attention. I have been wanting to update my system and have been waiting for the new 3000 NVIDIA's before pulling the trigger. Looking for the most bang for my buck, I only update every 3-5 years so I want to get the best value I can. My total max budget is $3500. I forgot Storage, lol. I currently have a 970 evo 1TB, 3 - 1TB Samsung SSD, and 4 - 4TB Seagate Barracuda HDD.

I put this build together in the last week. I got a Mechify C because I liked the balance of price, look, and thermals, and a single Cooler Master Halo fan to mount in the rear (in pics of builds I liked the look of it most when mounted as exhaust). CM Halo fan got lost in the mail, so I ended up building the rest while waiting for the replacement, and put the two stock fans in the front anticipating the CM fan to go in the rear spot, so pure positive pressure. Everything was running fine (eg: Modern Warfare on basically max settings with ~120 - 140 frames at 1080p; no thermal issues on longer play sessions). Replacement CM Halo arrived yesterday and I installed it as the exhaust. At the end of a shorter play session right after the fan install I noticed the fans were getting LOUD. Like, reved up and wooshy, but in a rise and fall pattern like the temps would lower at max fan speed so the fans slowed down, but that would cause the heat to rise so they'd spin up again. Turns out the CPU was getting up to like 70C, and after tinkering with the fans in the bios, I realized it's the CPU cooler fan that makes the most noise when cranked to max. Also noticed the stocks fans are DC and max out at ~1200 rpm, while the CM Halo and CPU cooler hit around 1800 or so. So...now that story time is done...questions: 1) I cannot for the life of me think of why adding the fan would make the temps higher. I need to do a few more play sessions before I get actually worried, but I'm starting to notice the CPU cooler "sags" a little. It's got one of those replacement mounts where the screws are left/right. Basically it's making me paranoid that there's a small gap between the CPU and the heatpipes. As an aside I'm worried I might have put a tad too much thermal paste on, but I'd think that'd would've been an issue right away if it was going to be an issue, and if anything it would be a benefit in this situation. So yea...please just tell me I'm being paranoid...lol As a bonus, the CPU cooler is fairly new on the market, and besides a few favorable reviews I haven't seen much of it, but I really like the aesthetic so I thought why not give it a try. Anyone happen to have thoughts on it? 2) When the replacement fan showed up the fan that was originally lost did too (go figure...), so I now have a fourth fan. I'm thinking of moving one of the stock fans (probably the lower one in the front) to the top and replacing it with the CM Halo. Unless there's something I'm not considering (PSU is mounted down, btw) I'd think this would create neutral pressure, which should help with heat ever so slightly and should make the fans run a bit slower, no? Thoughts? Also, the mobo only has 3 headers explicitly for case fans, so I'd need to attach the 4th fan (whichever I decide that is) to the CPU_opt header (or I suppose AIO-pump header, but I'd rather not have wires to the middle of the board if possible). Can anyone think of a problem with doing that? To get a bit more creative with the aRGB I'm starting to entertain the idea of a controller (solo aRGB header on board = sad face), so maybe this won't be an issue... Hello everyone, I was planning on getting an AMD based computer with the following components http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Alejo_47/saved/8GfV3C My intentions are, Livestreaming, Gaming and having a LOT of Firefox Tabs Open... My questions to all of you are: ·Do you think that I'd get a bottleneck? ·What's your opinion on the MoBo(I'm not very good at it but I was told that any 990 is recomended for an FX CPU)? ·How long do you think this will last until I've to play games in Low just to get 30-45 FPS? My main games are/will be HEAVILY modded Minecraft, Source Based games(L4D2, CS:GO, etc), Grand Theft Auto 5, DayZ, BF4, TESV: Skyrim, and more... I'd like to hear your opinions and know what you guys think Please, DO NOT post comments saying "Intel is better cause, BLAH BLAH BLAH", "Nvidia is better for BLAH, BLAH BLAH", etc. I'm hear to hear what you know, no what you faboy/girl on... I'm not an AMD Fanboy, but I already have an AMD CPU and it has been staying up for the lasts 5 years, so I just Trust on AMD... Greeting, Alejo_47 Edit: I forgot to mention that I play on 2 monitors, a 1080p as my main monitor/TV and a 768p monitor when I'm using my PS3 on the main one

Hey. How’s everybody doing today? I am writing today because I am planning to build a NAS soon and want to ask a few questions before I do. Before I continue, I would like to state a few things. I am planning to buy a prebuilt NAS just to do back-ups. The backups will be going somewhere else so I can have a safe backup. I don’t know what really my budget is for a decent NAS. How about somewhere between $500-600? What I will be using it for: HTPC and personal cloud so I can transfer things without having a ton of external HDD setups. What I have: 1. 1TB HDD (WD Blue) X1 2. 4TB HDD (WD Black) X2 Will be getting (before this build): 1.4TB HDD (WD Black) X 1 (for an extra NAS build storage. Will have (3) 4TB drives and (1) 2TB drive. These will be going into the NAS) 2. 2TB HDD X 1 (WD Black) (to replace the 1TB drive) 3. Synology DiskStation DS214 (for monthly backups) 4. (4) 4TB HDD (WD Black) (for the backups) 5. (1) 2TB HDD (WD Black) (for the backups) 6. 16GB USB flash drive for OS Questions: 1. What OS should I use? I don’t really know which one is the “best” for I want to do. 2. For the OS above, what are the best plug ins (for cloud and HTPC) 3. How do I set up the NAS and how to make the OS run from the USB? Can you guys recommend a good tutorial for newbies? 4. Can you build me a NAS? I don’t know which parts to get (this is my first build). If I can get a link to pcpartpicker. The stores I shop at the most (I will list most to least): Newegg, Tigerdirect, B&H Photo, and Amazon. Also, I already picked out a case I want to use (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352035) just for further expansion. 5. Do you guys recommending leaving the system on 24/7? Or consistent shutting off/on for each use? 6. What advice can you give me for first time NAS user? Is there anything to look out for?

1. Budget & Location Budget- $850.00, location Missouri USA 2. Aim Mostly gaming suck as diablo 3 while using spotify and chrome at the same time. Wishing to get into playing more new PC games that I've never had the hardware for. 3. Monitors I use an Acer model-H236HL, 1080p currently. 4. Peripherals I'll need windows 10 as well as a case no bigger than 9in. Wide and 18in. Tall. I won't need a keyboard or mouse or anything. I'd like some USB ports in the front on the tower as well as the back. I'd like an SSD at least for windows if at all possible. I won't be needing wifi. 5. Why are you upgrading? I've been wanting to build a PC for years, I now have the money to do so.
