I have an RTX 4070 and I often need to game using as few watts as possible. I won't really get into the reason for the sake of the length of the post. Currently, when I need to switch to "low power mode," I use MSI Afterburner and just drag all the sliders all the way down (Core -502mHz, Mem -502mHz, Temp limit 65°, Power Limit 50%). This works very well for me. I play all of my normal games at 60FPS with the settings turned down to reduce usage further where possible. My problem is that when limited to 50% Power Limit, I find that many games will take just about the whole power limit regardless of FPS limits or game settings, which makes sense, because why would they not take advantage of all the resources available? Many of them (older games, indies, etc.) seem as though they would run without a problem at a lower % power limit if possible, but 50% is the lowest Afterburner will let me go. Interestingly, for my previous GPU, Afterburner had a lower limit of 35% (although it had a higher TGP). My main question is whether it's at all possible to easily go lower than the 50% power limit, and if so, how to go about that? I understand that performance obviously won't scale linearly, but I'd like to experiment to find a sweet spot because I know some of games I'm playing could definitely run on less juice and it would be pretty helpful for me if I could figure it out. Alternatively, If anyone has a reason for why the limit is there and why it's unsafe to go below it then that would also be great. It's not too huge of a deal, but it would help me out a bit. Thanks for the help.

Ive been having a few issues with cpu running a bit hot, case fans were inefficient. but i believe that's all sorted now. Out of interest i went to check on GPU temps and have found furmark/ open hardware / msi afterburner doesn't show gpu info. had a bit of a investigate and cant work out why. I also have lost the ability to overclock (not that i normally do) all apps are up to date, as far as i can tell all drivers are up to date, GPU in mounted correctly. i have attached open hardware / furmark / msi screenshots for reference any info would be appreciated pc gpu info.odt

Hi! I'ts my first time posting here. I recently built my first PC by gutting an old rig I was gifted and replacing most of the components with some parts I found on the used market. The specs are as follows: - Intel i5 10400f with OEM fan - PowerColor Hellhound RX 6600 - Corsair vengeance 16gb RAM (2400Mhz increased to 2667 with XMP) - Asrock H510M-HDV/M.2 - Kingston 480 GB SSD + Seagate 2 TB HHD - Talius 600W PSU (Not replaced) - Generic Mars Gaming case (Kept from old build) The PC seems to run quite well all things considered, but I have run into a slight issue trying to monitor my CPU usage while playing games. Using something more CPU intensive like RPCS3 only reports me a CPU usage below 20 percent, while clearly noticing my fan ramp up. AMD Adrenalin drivers seem to report a similarly reduced CPU usage percentage to MSI Afterburner, while task manager shows the processor ramping up to 100%, the other things seem to be OK. I'm not really sure what could have caused this difference, I haven't really touched BIOS settings apart from XMP (I think I noticed this issue before changing that). If you know anything that could resolve this issue (or any other issue I might have, really) I would really appreciate the help! I have attached an image below:

I have a Zotac GTX 1060 Amp! Editon. The fan control in Afterburner was working fine with it. Last month the fan started becoming idle and after restarting it worked fine. That became frequent. And now the fan control isn't responding. Not to the User defined Auto an not to the manual adjustments. at first it was at 45%, no matter what % I change manually, the speed stays same, then it got reduced to 25% and now it's 10%. No use in reinstalling Afterburner. Fan is working fine with Zotac's Firestorm, but there is no 0%. 10% is the base speed no matter how cool the GPU is. it's not as convenient as Afterburner. How can make Afterburner work normal?

Will overclocking my 590 make my gpu life span less longer? Or only if I touch like the voltage? I am overclocking it with msi afterburner and MSi kombustor.

I have been trying to use MSI Afterburner to overclock a new Gigabyte Aorus 3060 ti Master. When I run the OC Scan / Test I get a 0% confidence on the Test, and a Code 3 error for the Scan. Afterburner does not appear to be able to communicate effectively with the card. Card is currently it is running stock with the factory 1800 mhz overclock. When the test goes to run it's clear it just hangs and nothing is happening, has anyone else experienced this? I am running the most updated driver and downloaded the newest version of Afterburner I could find. Any recommendations would be welcome. Thank you!me.

Hey guys, I didn't think I would be able to accomplish this but I was able to max out the memory clock on msi afterburner on 3070ti at 2000mhz and the problem is I have more then enough room to push it further but msi afterburner wont let me. The reason I am able to achieve these high clock speeds without crashing is because I'm running my pc in my garage with tempetures well below 0c. Iv been using this cars to mine and that is why you may never hear me talk about the core clock as core clock speeds have little to no effect. Anyways with a 2000mhz overclock on the memory the gpu is only hovering around 27c with the VRAM around 50-60C. I also decreased the power limit down to 70% which significantly improved my efficiency. With all that and a 70% LHR bypass I was able to just hover around 60MH/S on daggerhashimoto. But I was wondering if anyone knew of a easy way to get around these msi afterburner limiters. So I can potentially squeeze 65-70 mh/s out of this card. I will try and get you guys pictures of msi afterburner later I'm not currently with the PC. Also if you guys know of any other over clock programs that may be better for what I'm trying to do let me know. But I will say msi afterburner is my personal favorite I really like the layout.

Hey guys so I had to uninstall MSI afterburner the other day, and ever since then, any game that dosent have a toggle to change the FPS makes my graphics card run at thousands of frames per second. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, Just managed to get an Asus TUF 3080 OC at $100 over MSRP/INR 74000(MSRP is INR 66000) I agree its a spur of the moment decision as I've not seen cards hit prices so close to MSRP and like many i have been waiting for nearly 2years now I have a 650W power supply(Corsair CX650F) and i know technically it should run fine even tho recommended PSU is 700/750W. Anyway, I was asking if its too much for my PSU, can I run the card at lower power by changing any of the settings in MSI Afterburner or ASUS's GPU Tweak software. Is it possible to run the card normally with the Power Target set to 70% or similar? Any other methods? I am unable to test this at the moment since the card hasn't arrived yet(2-3more days). Yes I understand this isn't optimal and as a matter of fact is not permanent either. I'm just looking to run the Card with current PSu for a couple weeks before I can get a better PSU(preferably a 850w one) Thanks in advance

Hey everyone, so I installed an Arctic Accelero IV cooler on my GTX 1080 Founders edition. The temps under load will get the card to at most 45-50C. Now I’m trying to overclock it. I have msi afterburn and I used the OC scanner option that it offers. It added an additional +195 to the core, but nothing to the memory. I’ve been watching a fair amount of videos and I see people adding to the memory as well but the tool here just keeps it at +0. Is that fine? Also if you guys have any experience, what numbers did you guys get your gtx 1080 up to? I don’t know what is too much or too little. Many of the vids I watch only have the cards without sufficient coolers on them.

I'm overclocking my Asus tuf 1660s 6gb oc but as soon as I hit around 70 degrees it stops heating up. In afterburner, I've set the Temp Limit to 90. I've read on other threads that a 1660s should go up to around 80-90 when used to its maximum

Hello, I sometimes have a problem with MSI Afterburner where the manual and custom fan curve of my GPU don't want to work for some seemingly inexplicable reason and I can't figure out how to solve this problem. GPU: MSI RTX 2080TI Gaming X Trio Motherboard: MSI X570 Godlike The problem would normally occur ONLY with games such as Borderlands 3 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint (this has been happening for a while now). If I would start up MSI before I start up these games the fan control will do exactly what it needs to do but as soon as I actually start one of the aformentioned games, MSI crashes and restarts which results in me being able to adjust everything except the fan slider (manual or custom). I figured this had something to do with a file within the game directory somehow preventing me from adjusting my fan slider (or custom fan curve). I could not exactly find a solution on Google regarding the GPU fan control problem with those games. Normally the GPU fan controls would work with any other game. However, I got the fan error last Monday (July 6th, 2020) when I started MSI. I wanted to turn on my OC and I hadn't even started a game yet. MSI didn't crash like Borderlands 3 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint but the slider simply didn't react the way it should have. I've never had it happen in that way before ONLY when I started the above mentioned games. All of my GPU drivers are up to date. What I have already tried to do: - I downloaded Precision X1 and checked if the problem would persist there as well. Unfortunately the fan slider would not work here either. - I reinstalled MSI Afterburner but to no avail. - I downloaded a different program that would let me control the GPU fans called 'Argus Monitor. It unfortunately acted the exact same way as Afterburner and Precision X1 To check how the fans would react to a synthetic benchmark I launched Kombuster (last Monday July 6th, 2020). I set a custom fan curve in the hope the fans would react as they should based on my fan curve. In Kombuster (with different kinds of Kombuster bencharks) the fans would ramp up and would almost immeditaley die down to a certain fan speed (like 20ish %) and then ramp up again as if something was inhibiting the fans from increasing its speed. This however, does NOT occur when playing a game. In games the fan speed is more constant but usually does not exceed a fan speed % estimate of 55. Note: My issue is NOT that the fans won't spin at all when playing a game. The issue now is that I somehow do not have control over the GPU fan slider wether I play a game or not as of yesterday July 6th, 2020. This problem used to be more contained with games like Borderlands 3 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint but now it is constant. Something else is controlling my GPU fans. For the first time today, I started up my PC 45 minutes ago (as of the time of this post) and the first (and only) thing I did was to check if MSI Afterburner somehow had restored my control over my fan speed. Unfortunately this was not the case and the problem still seems to persist. This video I found on Youtube shows my exact problem: As of today July 24h, 2020 I am still struggling with this issue I was wondering if someone could make anything out of this and help me figure out a solution. Thank you in advance!

Hey guys, I wanted to install msi afterburner so I could have something to see my temperatures and so on. But afterburner does this weird thing, it shows the temperature, core clock and VRAM frequency for like 2 seconds and then it disappears. I've tried reinstalling and I have tried using evga precision but that doesn't work. My laptop is the lenovo y50-70, i7-4720Q @ 2,6 GHz, GTX 960m 4GB, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 4k screen. And I'm running windows 10 home edition but I had the same issue with Windows 8.1.
