Hi, I recently was looking around on hardware info and had noticed something. I noticed that the clock speed per 8 gb module is only 1333Mhz. The 2666Mhz clock speed that task manger is getting seems to be just 1333Mhz * number of RAM modules (which is just 2 in this laptop). The laptop I have is a DELL G3, and the specs are shown in the screen shot attached. Is this normal for laptops? I know that in desktops the RAM speed is normally just what ever the module is rated for, not the number of modules times the speed of the modules, unless I've completely misunderstood the way that RAM modules work in a computer. Also, is there any way that I can over clock the clock speed of the RAM, there's no way for me to do it in the BIOS. Thanks.

Anybody be able to help with this? Just finished my new build and enabled xmp in BIOS. Task menager reports 3200mhz as it should be, but hardware info and cpu-z show 1600mhz. For futher information, I have 4 sticks of corsair vengence rbg pro with (once again) xmp enabled.

I had 8x2=16 GB corsair vengeance RGB pro 3200mhz dimms operating in dual channel perfectly. Yesterday, I upgraded to another 8x2=16GB dimms of the same model, bus speed and latency and after installing all the 4 dimms, RAM frequency is now 2133mhz instead of 3200mhz. Though it's posting as 32GB. Can anyone help me with this problem? Here are the specs of my pc: Mobo: Asrock b450m steel legend CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G with stock cooler RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 8x4=32 GB @3200mhz SSD: Samsung 970 evo plus PSU: Corsair VS450

I currently have a Corsair 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3000 C15 running at 2933 C15 since my CPU (i7-10700) does not support running memory over 2933Mhz. I'm planning on buying Corsair 32GB (2 X 16GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 and running it alongside the currently running memory to make it a total of 48GB. I can't find the 32GB variant of the 3000 C15 so I'm looking at 3200 C16 instead and running it at the lower speed but better CAS latency. The actual latency of the retrieving the first byte of data would be the same 10ns for both but I don't know friendly these RAM sticks are to run at these slightly different settings. Anyone tried anything similar before?

My Lenovo Y545 (laptop) has a GTX 1660TI, i7-9750H and 16 GB of RAM. From the past few days i have been noticing fps drops but recently I cant get any game to go above 20 fps. I looked into it and according to MSI afterburner my VRAM memory clock which is supposed to be at 6000MHz is at 810MHz. GPU temp max at 82°C and CPU temp max is at 85°C. I have tried undervolting and have used DDU twice but I was unsuccessful. I am relatively new to the PC world so I dont know what to do next could someone help me?

Hey guys, ive been having some issues with my motherboard and ram. So ive got the ASRock X370 Gaming K4 (with a Ryzen 1700) and 8GB (2x4) of corsair ram thats clocked at 2400MHz. I just built the pc today, popped windows on it and all was good in the world. I was browsing through the bios when I saw that the memory was running at 2133 instead of 2400. I changed it to 2400, rebooted and... it wouldn't boot. Gave me a 0d error on Dr Debug (The 2 little letters/numbers). Ive cleared the CMOS via the header and jumped, and also removed the battery for a while. Both failed me and it still wont boot. The RGB on the motherboard is still doing what i set it to through windows so I have a feeling its somehow retaining information still. Any help would be appreciated, I'm stumped and this is not how i intended my first build to go.

`Hey there, so once again I am trying to build a new PC for a friend. Now I have not been that up to date regarding Coffee Lake, thats why I have to ask. With Kabylake it was rather clear, Z270 is a "dying" platform, better invest in Ryzen it will make upgrading later on easier. But now? I know that both the 8400 and the 8600k should perform better in games than any R5 (thinking of the 1600). But are they worth it? I mean a 8400 is 250 with a motherboard for at least 100€, the 8600k is at 300€ and a OC Motherboard for 125-150€. Ryzen on the other hand has more cores than a 8400, can be Overclocked and has a pretty good out of the Box cooler. Now the big Problem is that I dont have an Exact Budget, but I think it will range from 800-1200 with case, hard drive and psu allready owned. Thanks Paul/heulboje21

Hi I'm in the market for a specific motherboard the asus rog strix b350 or x370 and I want to make sure I'm using a high-speed RAM for my games. I saw a review that someone said the b350 did not boot with 3200 speed Ram and later said they got it working through overclock settings. I want whatever I buy to work Straight Out of the Box so should I be worrying about this or should I just buy a high-speed Ram with low delays and rest comfortably knowing it will work correctly

I want to buy the Intel Core i9-9900K or AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX 24 Core but under the specifications it says Memory Types DDR4-2666. I have DDR4-3600MHz RAM so would I be able to use the max speed of 3600MHz? Thank you.

Hey there guys. I have a slight problem with my RX 580 Sapphire Nitro +. The problem is that the memory clock always stays at 2000mhz which is the stock max clock for the memory. I'm also using overclock profile for 2100mhz which will sometime trigger the fans and they will ramp up for a couple seconds and then stop. My case is well ventilated, but still my GPU is staying at around 50 to 53 degrees at idle with fans stopped which is a little bit high knowing that i have direct airflow with 200mm fan on it. I'm currently using 2 monitors. 27 inch asus 144hz 1ms 1080p and 21 inch Philips 60 hz for monitoring temps and facebook. Asus is connected through HDMI and the Philips through DVI. Whenever i disconnect the HDMI cable and leaving only the second monitor on the memory clocks will return to normal idle state at 300mz and the GPU temp will drop to around 37 to 40 degrees. (The cooling block is also making contact with the memory modules so when they heat up it heats the gpu even tho it is not used) I've tried lowering the refresh rate although that if it even works it's not a permanent solution cuz i'm not willing to sacrifice 144hz,but it didn't work. For now only completely removing the HDMI cable from the Video Card works. Any ideas? Should i switch to display port instead? And i've just bought the Asus monitor, but before that i was using Panasonic 32 inch TV and the clocks were the same 2000mhz all the time... also using the HDMI for it. So maybe it is the HDMI that's causing this problem after all?

Ok, so i need some help here... I got a R9 3900X and a X570 board on order to retire my 7700K. And i need more ram (i do alot of photoshop with very very high res images, and my Photoshop program keeps complaining all the memory is used up), i currently have 16 gb ram with the 7700K that got 3000mhz speed (easly stabile OC`d to 3466Mhz) with CL15 timing (i think saying timing is correct right?), its the Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR4 16GB kit 8 i plan to not keep that kit, but sell it with the 7700K and Z270 board). i wanna buy a 32gb kit (that hopefully also has RGB, like trident Z or some), thats around 3200mhz and OC it to whatever it can go to, (hopefully 3600mhz or some around there). How much does timing matter? Should i go CL14 or CL16? I also see a CL18 option... But i feel like thats not good at all...? Thanks for all the answers guys.

I have upgrading questions for my laptop. It's the MSI GL65 9sdk-039 with an I7-9750h, 16gb of ddr4 2666 cl19 ram, gtx 1660ti 6G GDDR6, 512 nvme m.2. Everywhere I look for upgrades for the ram on this laptop say nothing above 2666mhz on account of the processor, but I've also seen a few reddit posts that I could use 3200mhz using intel XMP profile and get up to the rated 3200mhz. I need to know for sure if my laptop can handle it and actually achieve this and also most of the ram in that range is 1.2v and one with 1.35v with a CL of 16, but I don't know if my cpu can handle the higher voltage or if i should stick with the lower 1.2v. I'd appreciate input on this topic

Hello, I am trying to buy additional RAM for a Dell Precision Workstation (3441 SFF.) It has Intel Xeon W 1290 processor. As per the product page it support Memory Type: DDR4-2933 with 2 memory channels. Original system configuration has 8 GB DDR-4 2933 MHz non-ecc RAM. Hence my questions: Will DDR-4 3000 MHz RAM work in conjunction with the 2933 MHz RAM stick (8x1.) Will combining different RAM speeds cause system instability? Is there possibility of damage (life) of the system due to varying RAM speeds being used. Thank you very much.

Hi I was told that if i wanted to buy a memory i need to sync it with the Chip set Speed that i have. For example if my Chip set is 3.2 Ghz I was told to get a a ram With even number at the end (1600mhz or 1800Mhz or 3200mhz or 4000mhz) because it would sync or have better compatibility. In simple term its like 4 people going through 4 doors. On the other hand if i was to get a RAM that had odd number at the end Like DDR4-2133Mhz it would not be advisable b/c it may result some delay or even lost of the data or it would create a bottle neck for data. In simple term its like 4 people going through 3 doors. So I was told that Chip set with 3.7 Ghz would sync with the DDR4 - 2133Mhz RAM better since they both have odd numbers at the end. In simple term its like fitting 3 people in to 3 doors. Each would arrive at the same time through the door. I was told that it had to do something with the chip set multiplier. Which i am not sure what they meant???? I would like to know how true is this? Can you give a better analogy to explain what i was being told.

So I'm uppgrading from an old intel core2 quad with 6gb of something like 244mhz ddr2 memory to a brand new intel core i7 6700k with 8 or 16 gb 2400 ddr4. I chose this perticular sett of ram modules because they were white and it fits with my white and blue theme. I'm allso buying a msi crait motherboard because of the colours and there are two variants i can choose from: either the "MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X, Socket-1151" For 1600kr ($1 is about 10kr) wich has 2400mhz as a supported busclock. Or the " MSI E3 KRAIT GAMING V5, Socket-1151" for 1450kr this variant only has 2133mhz as the supported busclock. this is pretty much the only difference I can find betwen these motherboards so if there is something I've missed (other than a couple of more usb ports and usb C on the more expensive version) please point it out. but the main question is does the bussclock matter and will it work if i dont have the right busclock and from an overclocking perspective how important is ram speed?

3dmark software was used I did a comparison of the AMD FX 8300 running 16 GB DDR3 1333 GTX 960 vs i3-6100 8 GB DDR4 2133 GTX 960 and noticed the i3 won over the FX. Is there any way I can get the AMD FX to out perform the i3? Would getting better memory speed for the FX improve my performance?

Hi, I have just built my first PC and am noticing some performance issues that I was hoping you could advise me on. The main components of my PC are as follows: CPU: i7 5820K overclocked to 4.46 Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8GB at 2400MHz Motherboard: Asus x99-a/USB 3.1 CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken x61 GPU: EVGA 980 Ti Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 850W Gold fully modular SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB HDD: Seagate barracuda 2TB Case: Corsair 750D Here are my questions: 1. I notice that it takes around 10-15 seconds from the time I press the power button to post. Then it takes another 30 seconds to a minute to boot into windows. I have an SSD, fast processor, and fast memory so why would it take so long to boot, especially to post? Do you think there is a setting in the motherboard to make it load faster? 2. The memory I bought says it is 2400MHz. However, when I check the speed of the memory in the BIOS, or using CPU-z it says it is 2133MHz. Should memory be running slower than its advertised speed? Am I supposed to do something to get the 2400MHz? 3. I tried to follow Linus’s x99 overclocking video to overclock to 4GHz. However, after entering the new values in the BIOS the CPU is always running at 4.46GHz. It never turbo boost above that though. Is that normal behavior for overclocking, or should the overclock be the base and you then have turbo boost on top of it? 4. Lastly, my motherboard has two USB 2.0 headers, and two USB 3.0 headers. The case uses one USB 2.0 header and one USB 3.0 header. My Kraken x61 uses a USB 2.0 header to control the fan (and tell me that it’s malfunctioning when it’s not) leaving me with no more USB 2.0 headers. Is there a way to get more USB headers like a splitter, so I can add a media card reader? I know this is a lot of questions so thank you in advance for any help.

Still planning my new build . . . Core i7 5960X ASUS X99 Deluxe 2x GTX 980 (SLI) My question is how much of a difference is there in RAM from different suppliers? Corsair has some cool heat sinks for their ram sticks and so does G.Skill. Are they worth the price premium? Second question is will I really see much of a difference if I pay the premium for say 2800 MHz vs 2400 MHz?

how will i notice any difference between 1333mhz and 2400mhz? it is faster, but will i notice it ?

Hi all, I'm having hard time run a 128GB Kit (4 x 32GB) HyperX FURY DDR4 3200MHz, CL16, Black, DIMM Memory at 3200 mhz. Cpu is 3990x with a sTRX4 Zhenit Extreme 2 mb. I used Ryzen DRAM calculator to get all the timings and Voltages for a safe run but I failed every attempt. Here I attach few screenshots . If someone have suggestions or idea how to run them at 3200 or 3000 mhz is very welcomed to share the right way Cheers
