I have an i7-4790k, 32gb of Corsair Vengeance ddr3 RAM, 1 ssd, 2 HDDs (all 3 SATA) a bluray drive, a GTX 1080, and both motherboards.I am aware that the VI is of the z87 chipset.I need 7-8 usb ports (I have a 4 port adapter if necesary) and I prefer more 3.0 or newer ports over the others. The issue is that the Z97-a has 2 nonworking 3.1 ports, and they can't be fixed, and busted 3.0 (front panel case usb port) pins. So I only have 4 working ports (7 with the adapter)I won't be upgrading my cpu in any way that won't require me to get a completely new motherboard due to a new chipset, so I'm not concerned with upgradeability.I game in 4k, and want to overclock, as well as create content for youtube.Which board meets my needs more?

Hello! First of all, I apologize for lumping all my questions into one thread, I just didn't want to clog up the forums. My biggest issue is that the temperatures on my cpu seem to be slightly higher than normal. I've been overclocking lately, and I've reached 4.2 ghz stable at 1.113 volts, but I can get higher frequencies stable quite easily. The only reason I can't is because of my temperatures. I'm running a h100i with Noctua NF-F12s in a push-pull setup, with the fans currently maxed out at around 1500 rpms. My idles are in the low 40s, and as soon as I run small ftps in Prime95 or stress fpu in Aida64, my temperatures skyrocket to the low 90s. I feel like this is higher than normal, even though I know the stock fans can run 2000+ rpms, but since I'm running push-pull with higher quality fans I feel like my temperatures should be lower. My second issue is with my custom fan curves. I'm currently running 8 fans in my case, 4 for the push-pull radiator, 1 more intake, and 3 exhaust. I have 4 fans plugged into the motherboard header, and the 4 radiator fans plugged into the corsair H100i. My fans that are running off the motherboard header I have set curves with in AI suite, and they seem to work just fine. However, the fans I have plugged into the H100i seem to ignore the fan curves I set in Corsair Link. They just run at around 1000rpm, and the only way I can change that is by setting a fixed rpm%. I read online somewhere that there's an issue with the sensors getting directions from two separate programs at once, or something. Is this true? If so, is there a way I can control all of the fans from one of the software (preferably AI suite)? Is there anything else I can use to control them all? Or should I unplug them from the h100i and use fan splitters to plug them all into the motherboard? Finally, I currently only have two 120mm fans in the top exhaust bay of the case, but I would like to populate this with a third fan (or replace these two with 140mm fans) to improve airflow. I would like to have positive pressure in the case, however. I have 3 bays in the front as intake, although 2 of the bays are my radiator (even though there are 4 fans there), my two 120mm fans and a 140mm fan in the back as exhaust. Is there a good way of doing this anyone can think of? How does a push-pull radiator set up affect the pressure ratio? Thanks for all the help guys! Hey all, I just got my Corsair 780t case (black/red) and I love it. I'm looking to fill the 2 front bays with some type of fan controler or display, mostly for asthetics, but added functionality is great too. Originally I was going for the asus front base, but upon reading, it is not suitable. Apparently there are numerous issues with it and my mobo (maximus vi hero). As well, the fan controllers just adjust the fan controlers on the mobo itselt. As I have 6 case fans, this doesnt help me at all as I am currently using the 3 on the mobo, plus 3 on the case stock fan controller. I have been looking around to no avail. the NZXT sentry 3 looks like a great product, however I just can't break my red/black build theme for it (blue? I dont think so...) So any other options? Priorities: 1. Look Cool 2. Fan controler 3. I/O 4. whatever. cheers

I want to buy a corsair H100i to put in my Corsair 300r case and want to be 110% sure it will fit with a Maximus VI Hero Motherboard and Vengeance Pro RAM before I buy it. Does anyone have the same setup in use? I also don't want to mod my case or any components.

I'm honestly not too concerned about whether or not anything is "overkill" in this build. I do a lot of gaming and ProTools work, so it'd be nice to not have to sacrifice any performance for price. HI, I recently upgraded my rig to a Asus Maximus VI Hero and a 4770K and after i had installed Windows and Asus AI Suite 3 in noticed that the MB (Northbridge) is becoming around 60 degrees Celsius in idle. So i asked my friends what their temp was and they all said around 25 - 35 degrees. I even exchanged the MB for a new one but i still getting the same results. And when I point a fan on 50% speed the MB goes down to around 47 degrees. I don't think that the MB will break but I want it do be on a normal temperature. Hey guys, So i just builded new pc (build log probably coming soon) i'm little confused by the temps i get running prime95. Current specs relevant to this: i7-4770k, swiftech h220 and Asus maximus vi hero. So the one on the left is HWmonitor(Temps by motherboard) Middle is HWmonitor(Temps by CPU) and the right one is Asus: AI suite III. As you can see the temps are very different and some of them sound very bad, Appreciate advices. Count

What do you guys think about buying open box items, especially a mother board? It's a nice price, no doubt about that, just wondering if I should take the risk and buy it. So I put my system together about a month ago and everything was running great until I noticed that sometimes when I shut the system down, she restarted instead. After some testing I found that she not only restarts when I’m logged in and try to shut down, but goes into sleep mode (computer running but no power to monitor, mouse or keyboard LEDs, and Q-Code 05 shows on the board, which the manual says signifies that sleep mode was initialized) whenever I shut down from the log-in screen. The only changes I’ve made to BIOS have been initially setting the CPU to Turbo (no OC) and the RAM to its suggested 2133 MHz, as well as a BIOS EZ Update from 0804 to 1102 after I noticed the issue. I reset the CPU and RAM settings back to defaults one at a time, and first after I changed the CPU setting the system shut down properly a few times when requested, then the problem came back. Nothing happened when I reset the RAM setting. Thanks for any help, since I’m completely at a loss. I'm trying to overclock my Core i7 4770k CPU to 4.5GHz but I need some advice on how to confirm it's 110% stable. I'm very much a noob to the Overclocking game so I need avice on what voltages are acceptable for a 4.4-4.6GHz OC. Can someone also reccomend the most solid and reliable stress testing software and how to go about stress testing. (Should I play BF4 whist I stress test to really put my CPU under duress. Also I have the Corsair H100i CPU Cooler so temps won't be a problem N.B I've heard Prime 95 shouldn't be used with Haswell chips and thats what I've been using so just need some solid advice, Thanks!

I have micro stuttering in almost every game...i noticed this when i got my maximus vi hero and 4770k, so could they be the issue ? I had an fx8350 before so i couldnt even hear the gpu buzzing becouse it was loud also it isnt realy whine its buzzing....in every game and always, i am going to rma it but i want to know if the stutter is gpu's fault or can it be something else.
