  1. So I had a problem recently. I have constant input lag or mouse delay. Tried different mice, still same. Can the problem be that my gpu are getting old and since my main monitor is connected to my gpu it can cause latency or delay?
  2. Recently, I have been experiencing high latency (around 10k ms according to in-game diagnostics) when playing on a private server. But I get normal results when I ping test the server (~200ms). I have contacted my ISP regarding this matter and since the results from my speedtest is normal, they only assured me that "We will look into it". The odd thing about all this is I have only experienced high ping on the private server. I checked my ping on other games; Dota 2, LoL, ESO, GTA V, and there are no issues. I also asked my friend who was using the same ISP as me but his ping on the private server is normal. Troubleshooting methods I have tried: 1. Restarting modem. (Turn off/on) 2. Resetting modem. (Reset button) 3. Connecting via WiFi or LAN cable 4. Turning off Firewall 5. Turning off Anti-virus 6.Uninstall/Re-installing the game 7. Using a different PC 8. Assigning a DNS to my network driver Ping test results on Google DNS: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Rh5wGFoIyFwZ3ZbOIxOIRw2k0zU3HHXC/view?usp=sharing Ping test results to the private server. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mQHeYh0RpU6QOiDPmonqE13FCJkt0fhZ/view?usp=sharing Edit: Sorry forgot to add. The game is a private server of Wow hosted by Warmane. Specifically the server Icecrown.
  3. While playing any game or movie, my frames gets freezes for while with creepy audio freeze. I'm unable to solve the problem. i followed many youtube tuts by putting registry for HIPM/DIPM AHCI Link power management and making it active. still it doesn't work. Please help. This issue occurs every 45min to 1.30hr. Thank you in advance.
  4. hey so i have recently gotten my first desktop and i go to play some games and bam! the games are super laggy and damn near impossible to play so i go onto speedtest.net and check my ping and speeds and i have all around great numbers, so i turn on the latency tracker in game and i will go from 32ms to 1000+ms, this is consistent across all games and i even did some things in command prompt to see packet loss and i get 100% drop rate. I use a wired connection and am baffled at what to do next, any ideas? (i know this video is super low quality but here are some examples of the lag https://youtu.be/5aWR84FF1S4 )
  5. A while back I got a pair of Sony WH-1000X M3's and I've been really into the sound quality. Naturally I've been wondering if I can somehow turn them into my main gaming headset. The only problem being that sometimes the latency on the sound drags a full second behind the visuals. Is there some sort of adapter or dongle I can get to speed up the audio transmission? I'm looking to play mostly on PC, but it would be a cool little bonus to be able to get this working on PS4 and Xbox.
  6. I'm undecided whether to buy which 16GB RAM Kit. I'm going to pair it with an Ryzen 3600 or 3300x. The options are: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory CAS Latency 16, Timings 16-18-18-36 69,90€ ~ 76,65$ or G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory CAS Latency 19, Timings 19-20-20-40 71.90€ ~ 78,84$ Both are the cheapest RAM Kits at their Speeds in Germany. Which should i choose and why? From looking it up I only found some people saying that you should first look at the speed and then at the CAS-Latency when comparing kits of the same speeds. But that seems too generalized for me. Thank you in advance.
  7. So, I got a new router about a month ago and I initially had some really high latency spikes, but figured out that it was because the extender I was using to connect my computer to the router did not support ac wifi. I got one of those cheap usb dongles to replace it and it has been working fine for a few weeks now, but all of a sudden I have been getting really bad lag spikes while playing CS:GO and I pinged my router first to make sure it was not a problem between the router and the usb dongle. It turned out that my computer would just occasionally lose contact with the router. It would gain connectivity the next time it got pinged and the latency would be high for just this ping but then it would go back to normal after that. Please help!
  8. I need help with choosing the right ram kit for my new gaming rig. I want 2 sticks of 8gb but I don't know what latency and mhz I need to go for. Please help!!! PS: my cpu is a ryzen 5 3600
  9. Hello there, I have the following issue with a ram upgrade: I have the following pc: HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0017ns, and in terms of RAM this machine has Dual Channel (16gb cl19 2166Mhz), and I did the upgrade to the Corsair 32gb cl16 3200mhz. When installed in my motherboard, they run at 2133mhz, and because it is HP, there is NOWAY to find any ram settings in the BIOS neither the XMP Intel. I would like to find any solution that would allowd me at least (if I cannot enable XMP porfile) to let the at the default speed (2666Mhz, wich is the speed of the ram that was in my machine from the factory). Thanks.
  10. Hello! A few weeks ago I started experiencing high ping spikes that last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours. I currently have a Eero Mesh Router system with three pucks placed around the house. Normally my ping to games such as League of Legends or Rocket League sits at around 20-40ms, but when it spikes it sits at 280-340ms. I have Spectrum internet and have not changed ISPs recently. I built my own PC a few months ago and have no problems with the internet connection until now. I am using a usb wifi adapter because ethernet is not an option right now with where the router is located, however I was still getting very little latency before this started happening, so I do not believe this to be the problem. Another thing to note is that when I am experiencing high latency my download and upload speeds are not affected at all. I typically get about 100mb download and 11 mb upload and these do not change when my ping spikes to 300. I have done lots a research and have tried dozens of different solutions from different online videos, however my problem has continued to persist. I do not believe the latency is caused by my hardware, as when I ping my router from my PC using the command prompt window during a ping spike, it remains very low at about 6ms. The latency to Spectrum's WAN also stays very low at about 5ms during these ping spikes. Other PCs and phones within the house are experiencing this same issue, no matter how close they are to the router, so it is not just my PC having issues. One of the solutions I found online was to run a tracert in the command prompt, and when I do the hop to the router is fine, the second one times out (which I read is normal, like a safety feature, and not actually a reflection of my internet connection), and then the third line jumps up to 300 ms latency. Another factor that I know could cause high latency is using up all the bandwidth, which could easily happen during the day as my family has lots of devices on the network. However, during the day I sometimes have low latency for a few hours the high latency for a few hours, but then late at night when I am the only one up the high latency will still occur. This makes me think the problem is not on my side of the network, but rather on Spectrums side of things, but I have no idea how to proceed from here. Overall the latency feels completely random and it has left me extremely confused on what is going wrong. Let me know if you have any other questions, any suggestions or insight would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance!
  11. So recently from last couple of days i have been experiencing very high ping 150-300ms in most games i play, previously it used to be around 10-60ms depending on time of day. My neighbor has connection from same isp and same plan, but he has no issues, he is getting great results in ping. I have a 100 mbps connection, connected via ethernet, not downloading anything. I dont have much knowledge of networking, i did a bit search and tried tracert 8.8.8.8 command, heres the result attached, it is bad but what is the solution? Please help
  12. I've been fighting this for a while now without success: I experience audio pops and clicks accompanied by stuttering and sudden freezes in games, as well as stuttering in video playback on my machine. I've been able to narrow down the issue to being caused by high interrupt to process latency and hard pagefault resolution time as measured in LatencyMon. Here's a screenshot of the results after 5 minutes of running at idle: And here's the full report: And this is the same test on load (playing the game Flatout): And the full report of that: It may be important to note that the interrupt to process latency isn't at a high level all the time. It's low for a few seconds, goes insanely high for a moment and drops back to normal levels, so it's not so much a constant timing as it is (seemingly) random spikes that happen every few seconds. Oh yeah, and I'm aware that the DPC routine execution time got a little high on the load test. That's caused by my audio card (Asus Xonar DX) and is a known issue with many of those cards. I installed the low-DPC-latency version of the unofficial unixonar drivers to reduce the problem but incresed latency is normal and inevitable with those cards. Anyway, in the process of troubleshooting, I actually took the audio card out and removed the drivers. Made no difference to the interrupt to process latency spikes so that's not the source of the problem. The GPU doesn't seem to be the problem either. The issue persisted after having taken that out as well and using the integrated graphics instead. Also, I use the Madvr video renderer for my video player (mpc hc) and that has an option to work in GPU exclusive mode in which the video stuttering completely goes away. Also, I've noticed some peculiar CPU behavior while testing. When I use stress testing software (Heavy Load) and I stress both CPU cores, the interrupt to process latency drops to normal levels and stays there for the duration of the test. However, if I only stress test the first core, the interrupt to process latency goes all the way up to crazy town and also consistently stays there. I'm not sure but I think it may be an IRQ address problem. Here's what popped up in device manager: It looks weird to me that some of the devices have the same numbers in the brackets. Or maybe it's perfectly normal. I don't know. Uhh... is it? Anyway, here's what I've tried so far to fix the problem (none of which made any difference): Putting on fresh thermal paste on both the CPU and the GPU Meticulously cleaning the internals of my computer to make sure there's no dust Resetting the BIOS settings, first in the BIOS itself, then with the jumper Updating the motherboard BIOS to the newest version Reverting the motherboard BIOS to an old version Fiddling around with BIOS settings (Yes, Cool&Quiet is disabled) Using older GeForce drivers Installing different versions of Windows and Linux Making a clean installation of Windows and NOT installing any drivers or software other than LatencyMon to rule out driver-related causes Unplugging every single thing from the IO ports aside from the monitor Unplugging every single non-essential thing from the motherboard and using the integrated graphics, no audio, no network etc. Pretty much disabled every component that could be disabled in the BIOS and still allow the OS to boot Running a full scan with Malwarebytes Taking out memory dimms, swapping them with other ones, swapping the slots Disabling the High Precision Event Timer in both BIOS and the OS Disabling the pagefile in the OS (in hopes that it would at least take care of the crazy hard pagefault resolution time but it made no difference) Moving the pagefile to another HDD Praying I'm out of ideas at this point so if you guys have any suggestions, they are very much welcome. System specs: CPU AMD Athlon 7850 Black Edition (2x 2.8GHz) Motherboard ASUS M3N78-VM RAM 8GB DDR2 5-5-5-15 @400MHz GPU ASUS GeForce 9800 GT (1GB GDDR3) Storage 1TB Seagate HDD PSU OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Cooling Stock Sound ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64
  13. Is there a difference between HDMI ports on a monitor? There are 2 HDMI ports on my monitor and is there a difference with latency or the resolution or refresh rate the monitor can handle? I have no idea about this kinda stuff so any help is greatly appreciated. I only wonder because my monitor is a 75hz 2560p x 1440p monitor and using the current HDMI port I have it plugged into it feels “rough” at 75hz with the native resolution. I either have to have it at 2560 x 1440 at 70hz or 1920 x 1080 at 75 hz for it to feel smooth. Any help is appreciated.
  14. About a week ago, I noticed short bursts of static in DCS, along with occasional hard crashes (sometimes application freeze, sometimes system restart). It seemed to improve when I had less open in the background (closing chrome/discord). It later occurred in other games and applications. Sometimes mouse inputs would be registered late. I had updated my chipset drivers (I don't remember whether I did so before or after I noticed the artfacting), and then updated motherboard audio drivers, as well as updating steelseries software. I used latencymon to check and surely enough, Highest measured interrupt to process latency was reaching 2000-3000 microseconds. Reported ISR and DPC execution time also reported high values and showed dxgkrnl.sys and nvlddmkm.sys as the highest execution time. So I updated graphics drivers, using clean install and only installing the two essential drivers. USB C, PhysX, and Audio drivers were not installed. That did not help. I tried modifying my ram OC, disabling PBO, and even resetting the ram to 2133Mhz. Nothing did anything except resetting ram to 2133, which seemed to lower the ISR and DPC execution times greatly. But the interrupts to process latency was still 2500 or so. I tried changing the power plan in control panel to ryzen high performance, and applied my ram oc again, along with enabling PBO. It had the same effect as resetting the ram OC. I used malwarebytes to make sure there isn't malware either. Relevant system specs: Ryzen 7 3700X, PBO 300 230 230 x5 Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite, bios is version F10, the oldest which had AGESA 1.0.0.4B. I haven't bothered to update since then since F11 and F12 reportedly only improve PCIe device and memory compatibility. 15. my question is that is it better to have lower latencies? if so then why? and is this applicable to all versions from ddr to ddr4? i would also like to know that which setting could prove to be beneficial in gaming and which one could be better for professional tasks(servers, benchmarks and shit). any help would be appreciated........
  16. Recently, I have been having issues with latency and sometimes high packet loss. AI have been having these issues for over 3 weeks, but I simply can't find the cause. The only solution I found is weirdly Speedify, which solves the issue (??).
  17. So I built myself a PC a few months ago (full specs below), and the RAM I bought is the Patriot Viper Steel 3866MHz C18 (2×8GB). It is a bit expensive but the reviews were very positive about it. The units that were sent to online reviewers had Samsung's B-Die chip which is basically the best performing type of RAM at the moment. However, using Taiphoon Burner I discovered that the one that I received is actually manufactured by SpecTek, a cheap sub-brand of Micron that produces low-cost memory chips. The actual die type is unknown. This is probably just Patriot trying to mislead customers to sell cheaper RAM at a higher price. Their own website, in fact, does not mention the die type for that RAM model. Luckily, I was able to apply XMP normally and make it run at the advertised frequency, even though some memory sub-timings seem a bit high. This is what HWiNFO shows: Tcas: 18 Trcd: 21 Trp: 21 Tras: 41 Trc: 87 Trfc: 653 Also, UserBenchmark shows a RAM score of 92% and latency of 70ns which is worse than what some cheaper 3200MHz C16 RAM sticks can achieve. I didn't care at first because I mostly play Rainbow Six Siege and it was running fine. This week I downloaded CoD Warzone and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and both games stutter A LOT. The framerates are high but there are constant frametime spikes while playing (I checked using RTSS). I have a theory for this: since both games are "open world" environments, could it be that my RAM is slow at loading/unloading game data and therefore creating those stutters? This would explain why it doesn't happen in Siege since the whole map is loaded once before the game starts. Could this possibility be what's happening? Or am I on the wrong track? 18. Hi’ I’ve seached all over the web, about Ryzen 3000 and which RAM that works well with the the processor. I found this thing called “Infinity Fabric” which is some thing AMD uses to determine “the sweet spot” in terms of RAM frequency and Cas Latency as far as I’ve understood. I saw this picture AMD released for their Ryzen 3000 series, where it said that the best price/performance spot was 3600MHz and CL16. So I went at bought these g.skill TridentZ neo DDR4 RAM (F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC) with CL16-19-19-39 1,35V. It specially says on the box, that they are “engineered to provide premium performance for the latest AMD Ryzen 3000 series on the X570 chipset platform” I have a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and Asus Rog Strix X570 F-Gaming MOBO. NOW I’ve updated the BIOS and suddenly options appear, like FCLK frequency. But I don’t know what i should fiddle with, I don’t want to kill the electronics. Under the tab “Ai Tweaker” (inside the bios) Memory Frequency is set to ‘Auto’ and it says the target DRAM (which I guess is RAM/Memory) frequency is ‘2133MHz’. I can in here (the BIOS) set the Memory Frequency to some values between ‘DDR4-1333MHz’ and ‘DDR4-6000MHz’ instead of ‘Auto’ (3600MHz is one of them). FCLK Frequency (which is something to do with infinity fabric I think) is set to ‘Auto’ as well, where the Target FCLK Frequency is ‘1200MHz’. Like the Memory Frequency can I instead of ‘Auto’ set some values. Here between 666MHz and 3000MHz. Target CPU speed is 3800Mhz (it has gone over 4,2 MHz, when using the computer though - I don’t know if it has something to do with “AI Overclock Tuner” or “Perfermance Enhancher” being set to ‘Auto’). It says DRAM voltage is 1.2V i don’t know if it has to be 1.35V as it says on the TridentZ neo box. But I can’t change it - it’s not an option to change ‘auto’. Under a sub folder “Ai Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control” The DRAM CAS# Latency is 15CL and is set to ‘Auto’ - can’t change it. I’ve noticed that Increasing the DRAM frequency to 3600MHz increase this to like 25CL or something. (Which is what I don’t understand, when the RAM says it can do 3600Mhz and CL16 - specifically for the Ryzen 3000 Series in order to get infinity fabric 1:1) Don’t know if I have to check’ something, if I am to change these ‘auto’ values. What should I do, in order to get maximum out out my RAM?
  19. Hello i successfully overclocked my DDR4 Ram to 3800 Mhz from 3600 Mhz also overclocked the timings using the Dram Calculator 1.7 latest version however 1 part in the dram calculator it shows the TRFC Value default is 374 and the overclocked calculator value is 504. So my 1st question is in this particular timing is it better to have it lower or higher? Is it increasing to compensate since i'm overclocking the mhz to 3800 from 3600. As far as the TRFC value it gives me 504 but the bios also asks for TRFC2 and TRFC4 so do i leave it to auto in the bios? According to this article online your supposed to use this formula TRFC / 1.346 = TRFC2 and then for TRFC4 value you do TRFC2 / 1.625 so is it better to use this formula or to just leave it at auto? Where did the 1.346 and the 1.625 formula even come from and how is that formula correct? Can someone explain? In my case i did use that formula in the bios settings and it was successful but i was wondering if it would be better to leave it at auto or keep it the way it is. Which would be better performance?
  20. I have just a hp prebuilt and have crappy samsung ram (8*1, and 4*1, at 1333 and cas 21 or 23 ddr3 laptop RAM). recently the latency of the ram went from like 100-200 ms response to like 700-900. Nothing really new happened... Help?s uggestions for new ram? I game on this, but plan on making a major upgrade, like 4950x and 3080ti watercooled pretty soon, maybe this time next year.
  21. Will there be any difference for Superior Timing Sensitivity abilities on CS GO Competitive playing between those CL 14 vs CL16 latency timings? Paired with i9-9900KS and RTX 2070 Super for pure gaming as well, and nothing else?
  22. Hello, I am building a new Gaming PC and I have selected the Ryzen 5 3600 non-x variant and the msi ventus RTX 2060. I would like 16Gb of RAM and i am stuck between a 3000mhz with a 15 CAS latency, or a 3200mhz kit with a 16 CAS latency; what is better? Or am i asking the wrong question?
  23. The problem appears, at least i assume, when i pay video games and browsing the web, like youtube, etc... The problem to appear may vary, it can appear in an hour or two, it can in a day or two or even in a week, depends on how much I'm using computer i think. How I know when the reset will take place? I can hear crackling sounds in headsets or speakers 2-5-10 seconds before the reset takes place. The time of how soon it resets depends on how high the latency is at that given moment. I also see the latency spiking with DPCLAT program. The latency has to spike over 7000-8000qs or more for reset to take place. When I built up the computer it didn't have those issues. Issue started appearing somewhere in mid OCT. I reinstalled GPU drivers (DDU), Sound card's (realtek - onboard) drivers, Ethernet drivers and it didn't help. I updated the chipset, also didn't help. Im running on Windows 10 latest updates, always. Last update of BIOS was made in mid SEP, 2019. ver. 1816. MOBO is ASUS B450 TUF PRO GAMING. Since then I did not want to Flash my BIOS, because of the random spikes in latency which causes random resets. If anyone is thinking that it is the CPU who is overheating, it is not. In some cases if i turn off the game and the browser -chrome and if the latency is not too high and persistent it may lower its self to a normal state at around 1000qs. 2 days in a row i left computer to run nothing at night and when i woke up the highest latency recorded was 2200qs~ CPU: Ryzen 3600 GPU: GTX 1070 Headsets: Steelseries Arctis 7 wireless RAM: Patriot Viper 16GB 3733MHz PSU: BIT FENIX Whisper 650W I really don't know what could be the cause, any idea is welcoming.
  24. Hi all! New to the forum but not to LTT (or finding tech answers via forum posts!). At a loss with this issue and wondering if anyone can help. I am currently trying to stream my desktop to an Android unity game using this plugin: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/video/ump-android-ios-56044 But I cant get latency under about 4 seconds, even when playing the stream on the host PC! So most testing I'm doing is PC to PC. I would like to get the lowest possible latency even if quality suffers significantly. Using ffmpeg for capture, encoding, and streaming: .\ffmpeg -threads 8 -f gdigrab -framerate 60 -i desktop -c:v libx264 -refs 3 -g 60 -loglevel debug -pix_fmt yuv420p -slices 8 -an -preset ultrafast -tune zerolatency -f mpegts -listen 1 tcp://0.0.0.0:1234 The plugin supports native android media player and libVLC, both seem to have same latency. I have adjusted the resolution and framerate WAY lower without any change to latency, which makes me think its not encode/decode. Tried TCP and HTTP with similar latency (native android and/or this plugin doesn't support UDP). I've tuned the client network cache to what *seems* to be ideal (~400ms), but still way less that the latency I'm seeing. The latency doesn't seem to get any worse over time so maybe its the initial startup delay? I am totally unsure what to try from here. If anyone notices a dumb mistake I'm making, has any ideas for trying different protocols, or ideas for hacking to get UDP to work I would love to hear them! Thanks all!
  25. Noob here, For a Ryzen 7 3700X, would 32gb 3600mhz at CL18 (18-22-22-42) or 32gb 3200mhz at CL16 (16-18-18-38) be better? Thanks in advance!
