Hey people, I've got a laptop keyboard problem. As the title hints, the problem is that some keys when pressed, they type the right letter, but also some other one. These are all I found so far. 1. Pressing A or J types AJ. Always in the same order. When I hold it, it types AJAJAJAJAJ etc. This applies to all the others. 2. M or Q makes MQ 3. 0 (right numpad) or N makes N0 4. Y or TAB makes Y and TAB (this one is especially a pain in the arse - the reason why I accidentally posted this lmao) 5. ; or 6 (top numerals) makes 6; All the others behave normally. It started yesterday when I was just browsing YouTube. The funny part is that it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes out of nothing it just comes back to normal again, but after a while it's back again. But it doesn't change fast, it is in one state for tens of minutes to even hours. The important part is that an external USB keyboard works perfectly fine, but I don't have much space on my desk so in the end using a broken built-in keybord is more comfortable for me lol. I already tried different OS (Linux) - problem persisted. I tried reinstalling drivers - nothing. I tried FN + Caps Lock and FN + Num Lock trick and for a second I thought it worked, but it was probably just a coincidence. I tried unplugging peripherals and stuff but I couldn't find any correlation. I even tried to take out the key covers and clean em but that did nothing. On the internet I stumbled upon someone who had a similar problem and they told him there could be something wrong with the pins and that he should unplug the keyboard cable and try to straighten the pins if they're bent or something. Sure, I repasted and undusted my laptop a few times so I have some experience with it, but completely removing the motherborard to reach the keyboard is like a whole another level for me. Let's say I wouldn't be exactly comfortable, so that is like a last resort for me. I also fear I'd have a hard time identifying a keyboard cable lol. Who knows, maybe this model has the cable reachable without removing the mobo, I don't know, couldn't find that info anywhere. My laptop is AJSUS ROG STRIX SCAR II GL504GW. So what do you pros think? Couldn't make sure if this is a laptop problem, an OS problem or a keyboard one so her it goes. Please re-locate if you'd like to. My laptop keyboard was damaged by lukewarm tea 2 years ago and it does not function properly ever since. It starts pressing "F" by itself continuously , spicing up the problem with other keys as well from time to time. I had been able to disable the internal keyboard via scrambling its driver to another irrelevant keyboard such as a Toshiba japanese one etc. Since the latest 2004 update of Windows 10 x64 that trick does not work anymore - there is practically no way of disabling this internal keyboard to keep using only the external USB one. Do you happen to know methods other than the not-working at all (1) Device Manager >> Right Click KB >> Uninstall or (2) Device Manager >> Right Click KB >> Update Drivers (with a totally bogus product) ? Just a shot in the dark, I know some of the people here are exceptional at giving advice and troubleshooting tips, so I figured its worth a try before just giving up. I have a MSI GX-70 laptop, its fairly old I know, but I still use it quite often as a guest computer, and now my daily driver while I go through a housing issue. Several months ago, I decided I was going to replace the keyboard, as many of the keys were worn out and some, like the S key, weren't even functional anymore. I figured this was just going to be a usual laptop keyboard changeout; crack it open, unscrew everything, unplug the old one, plug in the new one, put everything back together, and call it a day. Well, the laptop decided that this is not the way its going to do things. At a hardware level, the laptop decided to remap the keyboard. But not just the new ones not working (ones, yes, I bought 2 replacement keyboards, both are doing the same thing), the old one does the same thing as the 2 new ones do. The keys aren't even remotely correct. This even applies at POST, like hitting Delete does not go into the BIOS (whereas hitting Delete goes into the BIOS on an external keyboard). Things I've done, is reinstall all the drivers, reinstall Windows, update the BIOS, reseat over and over again the ribbon cable, verify that the rest of the laptop doesn't have loose connections, verified that language properties are set correctly, verified there are no other drivers available for the replacement keyboard, reinstalled Windows again, ran sfc /scannow to verify that nothing else could be wrong. I'm completely at a loss at this point. Maybe the motherboard is just shot now for some odd reason? Maybe theres something else I need to do to make it work? Thats why I've come to you, the LTT community to see if you can be just as stumped about this as I am. Here is the video:

I have an MSI gl62m 7rex laptop for two months. Lately the laptop keyboard started to go mad and certain keys don't work randomly (f, r, c, f1, backspace). It is working sometimesso I think it is a software problem which is better then a hardware problem. Also when I switch languagues the broken keys tend to change. Can someone please help me?!

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for cheap laptops (~$500 AUD) for school. My current one is dying and has a horrible keyboard and touchpad. Looking for something with: 13.6 - 15.6" display (idgaf about resolution or quality here, as I realize it will almost be shitty no matter what) Keyboard that is nice to type on i3 CPU performance level minimum (I like to hoarde browser tabs) Graphics performance good enough to comfortably play League of Legends at 1280x720 lowest settings at 70FPS minimum (not a big deal though) Decent build quality I couldn't care less about storage as I'll get an 128GB SSD for it. Thanks for any suggestions you guys have, hope this thread doesn't seem stupid and annoying like those cringeworthy youtube comments about whether people's builds are good enough for minecraft. I only ask this because the state of shopping for laptops in Australia is horrendous and incredibly time consuming at best.

Hi, So I spilled juice all over my laptop keyboard. The keys are now like glued and the keyboard is not usable. Is there anyway to clean this sticky stuff? I do not want to do more harm to the laptop. I didnt find any help on the MSI support center and no information at how to remove the keyboard or the keys to clean the stuff. Please help. Thanks
