Is there any way to make an external keypad work as a macropad? Or are there any cheap macro-pad controllers that can be used for the same purpose? I would use something like this to open certain applications or put the computer to sleep, etc. I'm using windows btw... Thanks for any help!!

I was watching this video And on 6:44 We can see a really cool and useful little keypad, that a guy did by himself. I think that'll besuper useful for people with super-small keyboards without macro keys and, maybe, video-editors. I found some resembling keypads, but they're priced like a whole cheap mechanical keayboard, but with only 8 keys .-. I know where to buy switches and a plate, but how to do other stuff like programming and circuit (maybe?) Sorry for my bad English

I'm looking for a keypad. The problem is, I have no idea what I should buy. I'm going to be using it besides my regular keyboard, which has a numpad. I would like some suggestions. It should be able programmable to function apart from my main keyboard/numpad (All keys need unique functions). I'm mainly going to be using it for non-primary functions in games, or toolbinds in photoshop. So I don't need a high-end gaming keypad like razer. It should have atleast 9 keys. I don't care whether it's wired or wireless. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

I'm looking for a keyboard or keypad under $40. I want to type special characters like these ° ¢ Ʃ Δ £ ‽ © for work using a small programmable USB keypad but all I can find are number pads that aren't programmable or expensive crazy looking gaming macro things. I can't code and don't want to have to memorize alt codes or install software that I'd have to open or go to a web page and copy paste I just want to tap a single key and have the symbol I want. Being able to label the keys and have double the use by holding shift or something would be bonuses

Hi All, Some background for those interested: Following on from a previous thread (forum link), I've been through a PCB revision, thrown out the NXP stuff and gone over to Microchip, and now have a second revision of my custom keypad project. This one consists of a dongle that does all the USB, and several keypads of different sizes. The keypads will all have CPLDs on them to talk to the dongle and handle the keypress events on the keypad. This allows me to keep costs down by only having a small 4-layer PCB, with all the keypads being cheap 2-layer ones. i.e. I'll plug the dongle into a full-sized keyboard and it will behave as a keyboard, or I could plug it into a smaller keypad and it will act as that. The dongle will have different profiles and such on some EEPROM on the dongle. The actual question: The first keypad I'm doing is a 4x5 switch layout, like a number pad, but with 20 keys instead of 17/18. I'm getting a friend with a 3D printer to do a proper encolsure, but need a plate to mount the keyswitches on. See attached photo for a rough idea of this. I know there's pre-made plates for standard keyboard layouts: https://mechboards.co.uk/product/universal-alu-plate/ but they don't give thicknesses, drawings, or other useful info. In order of preference, does anyone know: If anyone makes exactly what I'm after (4x5 cherry keys with some border around the edge so I can mount it to something). Drawings, dimensions, or any info I could use to speed up designing a plate myself. Specifically the thickness of plate required, as I already have the switch dimensions since having done the PCBs. A product like this that I could buy and then measure myself. It would also be helpful if anyone knows of any places in the UK that do cheap sheet metal machining if I can't find a COTS part. Thanks in advance. When all this is done I'll post code and build log stuff on the forum if anyone else is interested. The final version will have macro functionality and other fun bits.

Hello, (This is my first forum post ever, sorry if anny mistakes were made) As most know, PC is the way to go for shooters etc. due to supreme aiming accuracy, consoles with their controllers however are still better for movement based games such as racing games and the more Assasins creed like games. As I really enjoy fps games such as Siege and BF4 and also occasionally play racing games, I am really interested in purchasing a keypad such as Razer Tartarus or Orbweaver. The thing that interest me most about them, is that they seem to have a thumbstick such as found on controllers, making them better for movement. I've tried to look up both products however I couldn't find out how the thumbstick is supposed to work, most users seem to use it to only select firemodes etc. therefore I asume it doesn't really work like a thumbstick would. (what would be a shame) this far i have never purchased annything Razer and haven't really been fan of them, however they seem the only one to really offer these. Is there annyone that has a Razer Orbweaver or Tartarus? (or perhaps you know a better alternative to these products?) If so please let me know what your experience is with it, would the thumbstick be usuable as a controller thumbstick? Would you recommend it?

I want something like a Razer Tartarus or Logitech G13 but they are too expensive.Any alternatives ? I looked up some but most of them look like they will break in 2 weeks. My budget is $15-20.

I'm using altium designer software i think if i buy a RAZER ORBWEAVER and config it as i need i can use it for altium designer like 3D mouse-SpacePilot- for SolidWorks If any one use the ORBWEAVER-or every thing like it- for any thing except game please share the experience about that and is it effective for your productivity

So I just got the Genovation ControlPad CP24! It has 24 macro keys, but can have 2 levels per key. I have set one of the keys as my level toggle key, which you can see in my screenshot. So what do you use your macro keys for? Here are mine:

TLDR; do I need to use wasd to progress my movement to the next level, or can I stick with thumb stick and mouse This topic is highly debated across the internet. Is it better to use wasd, or thumb stick for movement? I already know the "mouse and keyboard is the most precise input instrument." the pc master race told me. I will not doubt the mouse. the keyboard is where I have questions. I believe a thumb stick for movement is better. 1 all movement controlled by one thumb vs three fingers 2 More intuitive to a console peasant like me 3 with practice you should become efficient (I can do Guile's ultra combo in sf4) Problems with thumb stick Analog (tilt for walk, tilt more for run) while more intuitive. have dead spots and are imprecise. A Dpad like stick (sorry don't know the term) that has 8 positions and idle, is much more like wasd. No one make reliable thumb stick peripherals, Like there are probably hundreds of reliable keyboard manufactures. Every pro gamer, every youtuber, every streamer is using keyboard, I'm not trying to be like my favorite pro, but there are so many tutorials just for wasd users. BORING PARAGRAPH ABOUT MY BACKROUND When I bought my first gaming PC 2 months ago. I came straight from console (I used to play 360, then bought a wii u and never played it but still have it, then bought 3ds) I used to play fighting games mostly Streetfighter 2,2alpa, 3rd stike, and 4.... and smashbros. So I'm into frame data, block strings, meta game, hit boxes and fun stuff like that. ( I'm a console gamer but no scub, when it comes to game knowledge) So knowing kind of what competition based gaming is like (Pvp is competitive) I wanted to have an edge over a complete newb ( I am new to a mouse and keyboard but can use thumb stick)So I did research and got a keypad with thumbstick http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-orbweaver-chroma (I don't recomend buying as mine is kinda broken, and doesn't work sometimes) when it works I am like a duck to water, I can move stop, couterstrafe. I basically know what I'm doing.when I got my PC I intended to buy starwars battle front. I got my PC after beta was done but before the games release. In the meantime I bought CSGO. When Battlefront came out I bought it, played for 4 hours, then returned it, so I could play CSGO. I have been playing so much, that if I had a family they would be worried. I want to take my game to the next level and start being good. I can easily counterstrafe. Sometimes have problems with things like, jumping on xbox from doors side mid dust 2( Surprised if anyone knows what I am talking about)I have started learning advanced movement techniques like airstrafeing, bunny hoppin, and surfing. The struggle is real. Is it my thumb stick holding me back, or do I need to just practice more. TLDR; do I need to use wasd to progress my movement to the next level, or can I stick with thumb stick and mouse

Hi guys i'm about to get a new build and i'm getting a gaming keypad because i can't play on keyboards (console gamer) so i want to get the logitech g13 i think it's a perfect pad for me but my only consern is the joystick. It seems so tiny and i have no opportunity of testing it before buying it but i have a ps3 controller (dualshock 3) that does'nt work and that i had turned apart a few days ago. I'm wondering if i could mod the ps3 joystick to replace the logitech g13 thumbstick. I also have a xbox 360 controller but i don't really want to take it apart because it still works (i will do so if the ps3 thumbstick can't be used) So have anyone got the g13 and have modded it with any joystick? I saw plenty of videos and threads about g13 modding but never with dualshock 3 joysticks

Note to all readers: I've altered the topic instead of creating another one due to the fact that this thread has a short amount of good replies and a short start; I want to thank all those who responded to my previous topic question. The topic of this thread is now about analog stick on Logitech's G13 keypad. The question is very similar to the one I asked about the Razer Orbweaver Elite. And in case some of you newcomers haven't read it yet, the question goes to especially anyone who own's a G13 and The Witcher 2 & 3. I played the Witcher 2 using an Xbox 360 controller using the left analog thumb stick to move Gerald. With that thumb stick, it gives me 2 levels of movement control: walk and jog depending on how far I've tilt the stick. Going back to the G13's analog stick, can it do the same as I've mentioned for the thumb stick on the Xbox 360 controller for both Witcher games? Another question, can you use both the G13 and mouse? I would like to use the mouse for looking around while using the analog stick to control Gerald's movements.

So I've had the Razer version of the Nostromo for over a year now. And just recently, when I plugged it in my PC recognized it as a "Razer Bootloader," and shows up in the safely eject device option of the desktop tray. Synapse no longer recognizes it, and as a result, no longer offers system input. I can't really afford a replacement, and I rely on this thing a lot due to comfort reasons during long work and play sessions. Please help. Is this a driver issue? Something with Synapse? Problem with the device itself? Did Windows update do something wrong?
-
So in the update that just came out today for Razer Synapse I found something interesting. It mentions a Razer Tartarus Keypad in the update notes from the keypad software to my knowledge this hasnt been announced or released in anyway. Any one have any ideas?

I am very curious about these products, and I just want to hear your opinions or even if you have past experiences with these products below. If you had/have experience with the keypads, I would appreciate a little pro and cons. Thanks ! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823114033 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823114015

i just searching for this kind of stuff and wondering what to buy, i sometimes play games like DoTA and some games that require many command, i have looking for Razer, i wonder if there any good keypad you know?

So im looking for a mechanical keyboard mostly for gaming. I've been thinking of getting corsair k70 keyboard or the razer orbweaver keypad. I haven't had any mechanical keyboards yet so i need help. Which one is better or if they both are bad then what is better. Any help appreciated. Some examples for the games its used for: counter strike, league of legends, smite, guild wars 2
-
So I'm posting with a question for the community. This is my first post here, I apologize if I've put this in the wrong sub forum. I'm looking for opinions from some other mechanical keyboard users. Specifically anyone who has used a Razer Blackwidow 2014 and a different brand board with Cherry MX switches. I've been looking into getting a mechanical keyboard for myself after just finishing my new gaming rig. My dilemma is currently I primarily use a Razer Nostromo in place of a conventional keyboard and I was debating on getting the Razer Orbweaver instead of a standard mechanical keyboard so I just upgrade my keypad for a better one. But they've just revamped the Orbweaver with the special Razer gaming switches which they've been using in the Blackwidow 2014. I'm wondering some opinions because I can't decide if the new switches are worth it, or if I should should pick up the, currently on clearance, 2012 model of the Orbweaver which still had Cherry MX Blue switches. [The only differences between them are the switches and the 2014 model has a braided cable.] Or, should I just get a conventional mechanical keyboard for around the same price and just keep using my Nostromo for now.

While I'm far from full of cash at this time, I know that, if I play my cards right, I should be able to get enough stuff for improving my kit. I am currently running a Rival and a Rapoo Keyboard in my main setup and I do wish to consider an addition to it to improve my overall experience. With that being said, which would you recommend between the Razer Sabretooth and the G13? I specifically state the Sabretooth due to programmable buttons and between the Orbweaver and G13, I'd rather go with the cheaper G13. I play a good amount of Shooters (TPS and FPS), I currently have several Platformers on my Steam Library, I am interested in picking up the PC version of GTA V, and I do play some DOTA on occasion.
