What Do people use as their inventory software? Looking for some good Options?

Hi! I'm here once again with a huge question. but to start off let me tell you why I'm posting this. Earlier today I've been looking at my not so old retired AMD guts of a rig that has been sitting in my closet for over 4 months now. So I began thinking of finding a use for it, so far nothing... But! A few hours after that, whilst hanging at at my dad's shop I began getting tired about my father talking abut people taking things and not having a way to track his inventory since he owns a business. So i told him i will see what i can do. My father is a mobile mechanic who caters to the trucking and Heavy equipment but at times he works on regular vehicles. what he needs is a way to track all of his inventory which can then be stored on a local system including a way to store important documentation . He owns; *1 LG GPadF 8.0 which runs Android *1 Snap-On Diagnostics Machine for Non-Commercial vehicles *1 Snap-On Diagnostics Machine for Commercial vehicles *1 Personal/Business Computer from 2007-09 and who knows whats inside hardware wise... *Galaxy s5 or lower He doesn't have: *A working system to accept Credit/Debit cards as all that he tried Quits working on him because a rarely gets those types of customers. but it gets frustrating when he does and he has to make a call on a weekend to a company who doesn't operate on a weekend about fixing the issue. *A server for all his important invoices, documents, and Diagnostic profiles for vehicles. *An Inventory system I have; *1 LG GPadF 8.0 which runs Android *Parts left over from my recent upgrade; AMD A10-7860k 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor with stock cooler Asus A88X-PRO ATX FM2+ Motherboard Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory *HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC F9J37UA#ABA *Galaxy s7 and a currently out of service Custom Build for Mid range Graphics design and Editing rig (Aka; Don's Rig 2.0) (Reason: DOA CPU from Intel and a already 4 week long pending RMA process...) Parts list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BlitzbriegDim/saved/WycbvK the RMA is approved but i have been waiting for the instructions so i can send it for replacement or repair... I just need to know what options I have available to me for mainly the Inventory part as that is one of the most important things on the list which holds priority. and since LMG isn't a Vehicle repair shop we are of no competition to them meaning it would't hurt them to tell me what there using as an inventory system, Using Google Sheets or any related Graphing isn't an option.I'm also planning on buying a scanner and a Label printer so i can make it more user-friendly when checking out items. I'd appreciate the help a lot as it is indefinitely needed. -Don Atkinson III, If you have any confidential questions please Private Message or email me, other than that you can reply to this post like usual.

Hi! I'm curious with what inventory system Linus uses to keep their assets in check. I remember I heard him talk about it in one of the Big Move videos that he did in the past. Does anyone know what software it is? If you guys can't, can you guys suggest to me a free or an easy to understand open source software that I can use to manage assets offline? P.S.: Anything other than Excel.

I work as a computer programmer, besides being a Paramedic. One of the tasks given to me by one of the departments that use my software is to add inventory management to it. Anyone have any recommendations for this? I know Linus Media Group uses a barcode scanner for their inventory management. I've seen Linus use it in one of the videos, with him saying "I hate inventory management." Are there any programmable barcode scanners out there? Is there something that can execute python or c or pawn on each scan? Anything out there that has IP connectivity? Something along the lines of API that we can use would be awesome.

Does anyone know an app for pc that scans barcodes and stores the data like put item in inventory and take item out of inventory.

Does anyone know what software Linus Media Group uses for their inventory management? I noticed in the 10gig WAN video they have some sort of bar-code check in checkout and was hoping its something off the shelf and not bespoke. around this timecode

Hey Linus! In your recent Amazon Basics video, at 6:09, you open a mouse and make the comment "you made poor Tyler inventory all this stuff" and on the bottom of the mouse is a small QR sticker. I've been looking for a good inventory management system for our production equipment at work and I'm very curious as to what you're using. Would be very grateful if you could share what it is and whether or not you like it. Cheers,

inventory suggestions for inventory software
Kung-Fury posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
Hi guys i need some advice. I work at an company that stores a lot of hardware from other clients, now its very hard to keep track of all the hardware items at the storage. Now i did some testing with Snipe-It (https://snipeitapp.com/) the program itself works but wtih an empty database snipe-it uses over 150GB just to run it. And Snipe-it is in my opinion to much because we only need to store hardware. so my questions to you guys is what do you guys recommend? i needs to have QR/barcode code support, a web interface, a mobile interface, and that we can self host on our own servers and it needs to be open-source or an one time payment software (no subscription software or pay per upgrade software) and how Linus does this? i have seen the orginisation vlogs but can't see what kind of software they use -
Hi, does anyone know what programs and scanners LMG uses for their inventory? They mention about buying the scanner here: It was used in this video to scan some RAM

So I've been working on reorganizing and restructuring my inventory management system at work for all of our IT equipment, and it is turning into a nightmare. Ideally, I'd love to have a barcode scanner where I can print off barcodes and assign them to individual assets, and also place them on shared equipment so that users can check out equipment and I can keep track of who was the last person in our department to use it. Now granted, our IT department isn't huge, and I'm looking at about 500-700 total assets. Right now they have physical asset tags with a number, and I have to search that item based on that number in an Excel sheet. I'd really like it if I could have everything in a SQL database or something similar where I can add detailed descriptions of some of our more complex assets (like install date, last service, item specifications, etc), such as our desktops and servers. I was wondering if anyone knew or had experience with any low cost options so that I could better organize my system.

I do tech for my college's radio station. We're implementing cataloging system. We have barcode scanners and the proper software. We were discussing how to manage vinyl, and I remembered some LTT moving vlog where they showed some scanners and QR code stickers. Considering the variability of databased records of vinyl and how often vinyl lacks barcodes, I think affixing little stickers like LTT's inventory system would be good to try out. Only problem is, I can't find where they got those stickers, or if they made them themselves then how. My google-fu has proved ineffective. Does anyone know about this sort of thing? Finding standard barcode stickers is easy enough, but those little QR code stickers seem ideal. Even general tips about cataloging and inventory are nice too, but those QR code stickers are the goal here. If I've created this post incorrectly or in the wrong place, please let me know. It didn't seem to fit elsewhere.

Hey guys! I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand. A friend of my father's has a small business and he wants a way to manage the inventory. I've developed an application on VB.Net that accesses a local XML database (which, I know, is probably not the best solution performance-wise), and I'm in the process of optimising it. During this process, the client said he would like to access the inventory remotely, so as to be able to sell off-site, perhaps during business trips. Anyway, bearing in mind that the application hasn't been deployed yet, therefore no real data has been written to the database: do you think it'd be a good idea, if at all possible, to build a server and have it store the DB there? Maybe using SQL? I am definitely not a pro, so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful. P.S., I've tried using a MS Access DB on my app, thinking I would gain performance, but I simply couldn't get it to work.

The Rantopad H1X Large is a fabric mouse pad with a great focus on quality and also quantity, making it the perfect mouse pad for a pc gamer. "In March of 2015 year, the domestic game mouse pad leading brand of "Rantopad" launched a new H1X fabric mouse pad, the revolutionary H1X brings a great progress of the fabric texture, is no longer the horizontal and vertical lines structure simulation, but similar resin matte texture, the horizontal and vertical direction of resistance is very uniform, slightly more than silk series, improve the handle feeling stability in the process of using. Especially in the fast-moving emergency stop and precise positioning is greatly beyond the traditional horizontal and vertical lines cloth, and greatly enhanced compatibility on the laser mouse." -Rantopad I have tested the Rantopad H1X Large for a week now and therefore shall review it based from what I have experience during this week of testing. Although not being very well known, Rantopad offer great features with their products. Surely not one to be missed by gamers. Build Quality : It is made out of fabric and offers great comfort for the mouse to slide on aswell as for the hand to rest on. Apart from its great quality of fabric, it offers a grippy texture on the back of the mouse pad to keep in place whilst gaming. One has to note that this texture is more grippy than other mouse pads. Personally, it was the best mouse pad I've ever tested with a grip that will stay put. The fabric used for this mouse pad makes it really easy for a gamer to be more accurate in-game as the fabric is specially designed to provide a balance between control and speed, and also to last. Features : Approximate Size : Approximate Weight : Rantopad Logo on the Mouse pad to make it aesthetically pleasing. A cloth border around the mouse pad to make the pad last longer without damage occuring throughout the years. Built to last. Conclusion : This mouse pad is ideal for every gamer, but more specifically to those gamers who attend lan events, as its size is designed to be used in environments on the fly and also to be comfortable at home, to provide the quality the gamer needs at all points, also its weight makes it more easier to carry. One must keep in mind that the mouse pad isn't expensive at all. Rantopad do a great job of giving quality in their items for a valuable price. Certainly an unkown company, but surely if found by gamers and utilized by them, they will now that Rantopad are taking it to the next level. I have all my cables in one overstuffed small box. Three hard drives lying on the desk. USB drives in the bathroom. How do you store (and keep track of) all your hardware? My best attempt was when I moved a lot of stuff down to the basement, and kept inventory in a Google Keep note. Not very practical. Looking for inspiration.
