Hello, I was just told that Infinity fabric instability shows up as performance degradation, so I would like a benchmark (preferably fast) that will be able to convey this information.

My set-up right now is a ROG Crosshair VIII + Ryzen 5900x + 4000mz RAM CL18 (I know, I couldn't find anything better that was in stock) (G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 64GB (2 x 32GB)). I recently just watched Linus's All White Build and he said AMD's infinity fabric can't run 1:2 without going at even higher speed than 4000? Should I just return the RAM and get something slower and get the NEO series instead? The Crosshair says it can OC up to 5000hmz but apparently the limiting factor is the CPU's infinity fabric but AMD also says it can OC to 5k. Would I still be able run at 4000mhz if I OC the CPU or would it be worse if I set the speeds to lower? Additionally, how much is this going to affect the overall lifetime of the CPU/Mobo/RAM? I haven't built the PC yet but I want to know how much this would affect speeds because the reason I got the 4000mhz was to run it at those speeds. Thanks.

Hi guys, I recently bought new parts, but I can't get them to work properly. The Rig: MB: Asus ROG Crosshair Hero VIII Wi-Fi CPU: AMD 5900X RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws - 2x32GB 4000MHz CL18 PSU: Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 1000W So the problem is that when I enter the BIOS and load the D.O.C.P the computer becomes unstable. I only managed to start the system with the D.O.C.P twice out of at least 20 times. What I did is I lowered the memory down to 3800MHz instead of 4000 and the FCLK accordingly to 1900 MHz. The thing is that there are so many options for overclocking this thing that I have no idea what to do to make it run as it says on the box. So any pro advice is welcome! How do I make this thing work, be stable, compliant with infinity fabric and everything else? These parts should be capable of achieving something good, right? Thank you in advance!

Thats my configuration right now: Slot #1 & Slot #2 = 2* Samsung 8GB 2800MHz 1R CL14-36 G.Skill Slot #3 & Slot #4 = 2* SK Hynix 8GB 2800MHz 1R CL14-36 G.Skill I wonder if it would "decrease" Performance or "async" the Infinity Fabric if: 1. I would Overclock Slot #1 & Slot #2 (with the "better overclocking capable" Samsung DRAM) to something like 2800 MHz CL12-34, but keep the Overclock of the Slot #3 & Slot #4 (with the "worse overclocking capable" SK Hynix DRAM)? 2. I would further overclock all Slots to 2400MHz CL12-34? 3. I would overclock the Infinity Fabric to 1800MHz but keep the DRAM at 2800 MHz CL14-36? Thats my System: CPU = Ryzen 5 5600X MB = MSI B550-A PRO RAM = G.Skill 32GB 3200MHz CL16-38 ^^ 2* Samsung 8GB 2800MHz 1R CL14-36 G.Skill ^^ 2* SK Hynix 8GB 2800MHz 1R CL14-36 G.Skill GPU = RX 6800 XT Midnight Black 16GB 2400MHz@990mV MPT 345W max. Hi, So I have Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 paired with 5600X, I recently got Kingston Fury Beast 4x8GB DDR4 3733 C17. Setting the Speeds at 3733mhz and IF at 1866mhz or 3600mhz and IF at 1800, keeping latencies as is (CL18) makes the system unstable and all games will crash. I did 3200mhz and IF at 1600mhz, tighting timings with CL 14 made the system stable again, so its not timing issues. Yes I'm happy with 3200mhz C14 but I bought the RAMs for atleast 3600mhz C16. Doing test on Aida64, OCCT, R20...etc at 3600mhz C16, IF 1800mhz didn't cause any issue and passed all tests, however, in games I get almost instant crashes. I noticed that changing VDDG and VDDP in bios doesn't reflect correctly in windows (Zen Timings and Ryzen Master). tried each trick I can find on the web, every voltage, every setting... nothing works. any suggestions?

I am having an issue with my 5900x build I just built, I can't seem to get my pc to post if I raise my FCLK clocks to anything higher than 1600MHz. Even 1600MHz I have had my pc randomly restart out of nowhere so I have to use 1500MHz. I am also having an issue with popping and crackling in my audio when I listen to anything. It seems to get worse the higher I go in FCLK clocks. I thought it was my RAM at first not allowing me to post but I am now running my XMP profile for 4000MHz CL18 and running the FCLK at 1466MHz since the crackling and popping isn't as bad as 1500MHz. I want to figure out if I need to RMA my CPU or if I am just not setting something up right in my BIOS. I have tried undervolting and overvolting my SoC and it hasn't really changed anything, I am getting a ton of WHEA errors in event viewer as well and don't know why.

Hi, I'm having problem setting up proper voltages in order to run 1800 FCLK (actually now it does not even run 1700). I used Ryzen Master to setup proper timings and voltages, but it seems like setting 1.2V for SOC in UEFI does not work. Hardware: 2x8GB Viper 4400MHz CL19 B550m Aorus Pro w/ ver. F11d UEFI The working settings so far (stable - Cinebench r23) are: 100 MHz BCLK 46.50 multiplier 1.25V Vcore What I've tried: Any ideas why setting up these timings does not work? As I've said I tried setting up 1.2V SOC, but it does not work.

Hey, can someone explain the high fps with low RAM speeds from this video? 1. Linus doesn't mention what CL latency the RAM tested at 2133 MHz with 1900 MHz Infinity Fabric uses. He just says it's "very low latency". Just how low should it be for that kind of performance? 2. Shouldn't Ryzens run faster at synced clock ratios? How is it possible that 2133/2:1900 runs as good as 1:1? And if that's the case, why would anyone buy high-clocked RAM? 3. Does high RAM clock speed matter more with Zen 3 than with Zen 2? (besides getting better performance with 4 sticks in dual-channel)

Source: Or alternatively, the picture from AMD: So basically, it seems that the clock speed at which the infinity fabric used to connect the CCXs in Ryzen is governed by the memory clock speed. People have noticed quite noticeable performance improvements from overclocking memory on Ryzen, and this could be part of the reason. I'm not too sure, but it could also potentially partially explain why Ryzen is having a hard time overclock past around 3600 MHz, though I'd guess that it's more of an IMC thing rather than the Infinity Fabric not being able to run at those clock speeds. If we do a little math, we find that the transfer rate of the infinity fabric between CCXs is 256bits*1066 MHz*1byte/8bits = 34112 MB/s or about 34 GB/s. However, if you just overclock the memory to 2933 MHz (which seems to be a popular overclock for Ryzen, not sure why), the transfer rate becomes 256 bits*2933 MHz/2*1 byte/8 bits = 46928 MB/s or about 47 GB/s. This is quite a substantial increase in bandwidth and I'm guessing that this explains some of the increase in performance from memory overclocking, and tells us that Ryzen may not be as memory bandwidth starved as we initially thought. Honestly, though, I wish they had made the two have been separate so that the infinity fabric could be OCed separately. What are your thoughts? EDIT: So courtesy of @Phate.exe and @VanayadGaming, here's a video and picture of benchmarks of a 1700x@4 ghz with memory speeds ranging from 2133 MHz to 3600 MHz: As you can tell the compiled picture is just a bunch of benchmarks from the video stitched together. As you'll notice, if you compare Ryzen on 2133 MHz to the 7700k it's pretty much the same results as we've been seeing for near.y a month now. HOWEVER, at 3200 MHz, Ryzen is essentially trading blows with the 7700k, and at 3600 MHz I'd say Ryzen is actually ahead! This is really interesting and with new bioses that support higher frequency ram better being pushed out to am4 motherboards right now if you're getting Ryzen you should probably at least be buying 3200 MHz ram to go with it. Unfortunately, 3600 MHz RAM is still quite expensive, with 2 8gb sticks costing at least $150, but 3200 MHz goes for pretty reasonable prices with 2 8gb sticks costing $110-$120 or so. I personally will wait for a bit more well known sources to test and confirm this but if it is true that Ryzen can trade blows with the 7700k when using higher frequency ram then Ryzen 5 could end up truly competing with Intel even in gaming when using 3200 MHz RAM.

this is pure SPECULATION based on the information i've read/heard. Will Navi actually use the Infinity Fabric? Based on their roadmap, I have a feeling it really is the I.F. It would really be cool to have 2 smaller GPUs work as one. Should be cheaper to produce and should allow AMD to catch up to Nvidia. Hopefully Navi can fix the imbalance in the GPU market. What do you guys think? forgive me for my paint skills

So i saw LTT's new video and i were really impressed that u dont need top notch ram speed for good performance. I personally are one of those persons who only had enough money for 2133mhz ram (which i soon were able to OC to at least 2666mhz or so), so i were wondering How do you exactly overclock the infinity fabric or whatever its called? if the mobo type matters its an a320-hdv r3.0 with an ryzen 3 2200g. I might have missunderstood what he meant in the video but im pretty sure i got most of it right. I also changed the ram timings to 19-19-19-43, but my system automatically changed it to 19-19-43-62. I tried changing the ram timings once again but then it automatically changed to 19-19-43-69, so i gave up and just keept it at what it was. If i do OC the infinity fabric should i restore my ram to the normal timings and/or ram speed?

Hi’ I’ve seached all over the web, about Ryzen 3000 and which RAM that works well with the the processor. I found this thing called “Infinity Fabric” which is some thing AMD uses to determine “the sweet spot” in terms of RAM frequency and Cas Latency as far as I’ve understood. I saw this picture AMD released for their Ryzen 3000 series, where it said that the best price/performance spot was 3600MHz and CL16. So I went at bought these g.skill TridentZ neo DDR4 RAM (F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC) with CL16-19-19-39 1,35V. It specially says on the box, that they are “engineered to provide premium performance for the latest AMD Ryzen 3000 series on the X570 chipset platform” I have a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and Asus Rog Strix X570 F-Gaming MOBO. NOW I’ve updated the BIOS and suddenly options appear, like FCLK frequency. But I don’t know what i should fiddle with, I don’t want to kill the electronics. Under the tab “Ai Tweaker” (inside the bios) Memory Frequency is set to ‘Auto’ and it says the target DRAM (which I guess is RAM/Memory) frequency is ‘2133MHz’. I can in here (the BIOS) set the Memory Frequency to some values between ‘DDR4-1333MHz’ and ‘DDR4-6000MHz’ instead of ‘Auto’ (3600MHz is one of them). FCLK Frequency (which is something to do with infinity fabric I think) is set to ‘Auto’ as well, where the Target FCLK Frequency is ‘1200MHz’. Like the Memory Frequency can I instead of ‘Auto’ set some values. Here between 666MHz and 3000MHz. Target CPU speed is 3800Mhz (it has gone over 4,2 MHz, when using the computer though - I don’t know if it has something to do with “AI Overclock Tuner” or “Perfermance Enhancher” being set to ‘Auto’). It says DRAM voltage is 1.2V i don’t know if it has to be 1.35V as it says on the TridentZ neo box. But I can’t change it - it’s not an option to change ‘auto’. Under a sub folder “Ai Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control” The DRAM CAS# Latency is 15CL and is set to ‘Auto’ - can’t change it. I’ve noticed that Increasing the DRAM frequency to 3600MHz increase this to like 25CL or something. (Which is what I don’t understand, when the RAM says it can do 3600Mhz and CL16 - specifically for the Ryzen 3000 Series in order to get infinity fabric 1:1) Don’t know if I have to check’ something, if I am to change these ‘auto’ values. What should I do, in order to get maximum out out my RAM?

So I was trying to OC my ram kit, but when I checked in the bios for fclk I couldn’t find it. I have a ryzen 5 3600, so it’s supposed to work. Maybe the mobo bios wasn’t intended with that in mind? Then what can I do to OC ram? I wasn’t to do any heavy OC, just a wanted a bit more performance. Also, my ram is a Teamgroup Dark Z Cl 18 3600mhz.
