Hi, this is my first post here, so hope there's enough information for you guy to help out. I've always been enthusiastic about computers, from the hardware to software and all everything works, so I've been playing with hardware for a while now, but still need to learn a thing or two ( or a lot xD) Right now, I was hoping to get some help improving my build, which I assembled. I think it's getting bottlenecked because I might have some air flow issues. In the summer, when I was gaming sometimes it crashed due to high temps, which I suspect having two reasons. 1st would be the case is too small or I overkilled it with the CPU Cooler and the 2nd would be because the room where I was (an attic with small window) would get really hot. Because its cleaning season, before I started I was hoping to have some tips where I could improve this system and why. (It definitely needs some thermal paste right now). Hope you guys can understand the photos. Country: Portugal Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Overwatch, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, Service Studio - OutSystems (Programming Tool, very CPU/Memory demanding Chrome style), VSC My Build Thanks a lot P.S. Sorry about the cable mess. I suck at cable management...

I would liek to get some advice on OC the i5.7600k in my new mITX PC. My motherboard is the MSI Z270i Gaming Pro Carbon, and my cpu is cooled by an Corsair H100i v2 AIO cooler whcih gives it idle temps between 27 and 30 C while laod is usually around 40 C (with custom fan curve at 3.8Ghz) but my GPU is teh MSI GTX 1080 Armor which i am planning to OC later and my PSU is the Farctal design Edison M 550W so i need to limit power consumption to some degree. Taking all of this into consideration, what kinda OC can i get out of my i5-7600k?

Hey everybody, So today i gave OC'ing a try. this is my setup. (GPU upgrade coming in summer 2017) I used Prime95 to test my stability. I reached a stable 4.8GHz at 1.325V with a max Temp of 74 Degrees Celcius. (after 30 min, will let it test longer tomorrow) However, one thing bothers me a lot. when is start the prime95 Blend test, it says that he is starting all workers, but he also says Unknown Intel, and than the Cache memory's. Does this affect me when trying to reach a higher OC since prime95 compares your cpu with other cpu's of the same kind that already have been tested? I never had any trouble being able to boot Windows, even with 5GHz and 1.3V. Also, what test programs do you guys recommend me to use? Thanks for reading and your advice!

i3-7350k i3-7350k (OC) vs i5-7600k (no OC)
pauliunas posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have an old desktop with i3-2100 and GTX 660, and I'm thinking of upgrading the CPU. Overclockable i5 is out of my budget, but I want to get the most out of my money. I use the desktop for gaming and development (studying software engineering, so I'll program pretty much everything from A to Z), so I'm not even sure whether I should get better single core or multi core performance. For the same price I can get either: i5-7600k and a cheap motherboard (yeah yeah you won't suggest me to buy a cheap one but I really don't care, I'll just get the cheapest ASRock that has the right socket. If I choose a more expensive motherboard that means I'll need to buy a cheaper CPU, which I don't want) or i5-7350k, a 30eur cooler (I think that's a decent amount) and a 170Z motherboard - then I could overclock the CPU But is it worth it? Can this new i3 beat the i5 with proper overclock? At least in single core performance? From what I've read, it can't, but then who would buy it? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything... By the way, if they give very similar performance, I think it would be fun to just play around with overclocking. -
NB! I've made the purchase so no further conversations needed I already have a gaming PC, which i got 1 1/2 years ago, but i wanted to keep it and build a mor eballer mITX Rig, which is relatively portable. I live in Norway so what i can choose from is more limited due to smaller retailers. But id like to hear second opinions on the build before i press the purchase button. Specs Intel i5-7600k (6% sale) CM Seidon AIO CPU Cooler (Going to take it from my other PC and not included in total price) MSI 270i gaming Pro Carbon AC CM G550M 550W Psu (19% sale) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2x8GB 2133Mhz RAM | Changed to 2400mhz variant EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Gaming (15% sale) Case Bitfenix Prodigy mITX Total price at current exchange rate: 11 784 NOK/ 1400,96 USD

The plan is... Run the Intel Core i5-7600K at 5.0Ghz(O.C.) constantly. Run Corsair Dominator Platinum Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz at 3200MHz Use 2 x Corsair Force MP500 Series M.2 SSD 120GB in RAID 0.

I'm looking to upgrading from my fx-8350. I'm looking into the i5-7600k, and the i7-7700k. I'll mainly do gaming, but I will do some light game development. My main concern is if the i5-7600k will bottleneck my 1080ti. If someone could help me out with picking the right one that would be great, thanks for the help.

Not entirely sure this is right area, but hey if it's wrong it can be moved. Basically, currently have gtx 1050 and i3-6100 build with pretty crappy ram. It's an upgraded Dell Inspiron 3650 basically. But I'm getting new parts in the mail, enough to essentially only keep the hard drive and graphics card for new build. At the moment from gameplay and benchmarks, when the ram isn't raining on my parade in games like Player Unknown's, it seems like the cpu is the bottleneck. Yet I'm upgrading to i5-7600k and corsair vengeance lpx 2400 ddr4 8gb ram, and I'm quite sure the bottleneck at that point will usually be the gtx 1050. I'm just wondering by how much I can expect it to be a bottleneck, or if I'm oddly completely wrong.

I currently run a mini-itx system (silverstone sg13) and am watercooling the i5 7600K with corsair H80I V2 (push-pull), I also have a Zotac GTX 1070 Mini in there with an ATX PSU (modular, so that saved some space) so there really isn't much space. The cpu at 100% load runs about 60C currently (without modifying anything). I know that's a lot of head room but my concern is that the GTX 1070 mini running alongside it runs 90C at 100% load (air-cooled) and I'm afraid overcloacking the cpu would increase the ambient temperature inside the case and thus pushing that gpu temp (is it dangerous actually?) further up. My consideration for overclocking was to decrease video rendering time, and also gain a few extra fps in cpu heavy games (like pubg). So should I overclock? This is my first mitx system so I really don't know what to do. Before when I would use my full tower I would say heck yeah but now its quite confusing to me so if anyone could help please do. Thx!!

Hello all, So I built my first gaming PC this summer, prior to that I had always been a PlayStation guy. I am currently using a 1080p monitor that was a second screen for my laptop, it's specs are not quite up to snuff for gaming with a 7ms response time. So my question is should I jump up to a 4k monitor or stick with something lower? I'm running a i5 7600k and gtx 1080 in my PC. I know that most people don't want to play anything less than 60fps but I would be ok with running at lower frame rates in single player games like Tomb Raider as long as it was still playable. Like I said i am accustom to the 30fps from ps4. Thanks for any advice you can give or monitor recommendations, not trying to break the bank on some 144Hz, 4k, g-sync beast though.

Going to university to study Computer Science this year, graphics rendering and programs writing will be taught, meanwhile, I still want to play with my Steam library, which CPU, R5 1600X or i5 7600K is better to do the job? Or are there is any other options out there (budget ~$250)? Graphics card is GTX 1050 Ti 4GB, 3TB 7200rpm HDD, 8GB DDR4 RAM. Also, I have a 500W PSU, will it be enough to fire up the build or I have to buy a stronger one like 600W or 650W?

I am kinda new to overclocking and I just got a new computer so I wanted to overclock it just to see how it would work and the performance gain. The only thing is I don't know if it is safe. I've read intel cpu can go up to 1.3v max and I am at 1.296v. My specs are: -Intel i5-7600k -Be quiet! dark rock tf 220W -Aorus z270x gaming k7 -EVGA supernova G3 750W -2 case fans

After changing my mind on which CPU I want to get while I already bought and own an i5-7600k for my friends future PC build, and plan to get the i7-7700k instead for him. I plan on giving my brand new i5-7600k to my brother instead. His AMD A10 APU CPU that he told me about, takes forever to make videos. So I was wondering how good the i5-7600k is comparing with his A10 APU and the i7-7700k that is recommended for it. For video work purposes

I was about to buy a intel core i5 7600k on ncix.com but the product description say that the socket is FC-LGA14C. It is just a mistake from ncix or it is the wrong processor Thank you (sorry for the bad english) The link to the product page http://www.ncix.com/detail/intel-core-i5-7600k-processor-6m-29-137590.htm?promoid=1565

I will soon be upgrading my PC and I8 currently have a motherboard that supports my I5-7400 and a 1060 3gb I will be upgrading to a 1070ti and I was wondering if the about £100 increase in price is worth it for the I5-8600K since if I chose the I5-7600K I wouldn't have to buy a new motherboard. So the question is: Is the boost in performance worth it and will an I5-7600K bottleneck my GPU at 1080p normal gaming and Vr using the Vive (also streaming sometimes). If anyone could help I would be really grateful as I've given lots of thought to this and still don't have a decision.

I have heard great things about the I5 8600K but it is a bit out of my budget, wondering if i should go for an I5 7600K or a Ryzen 7 2700x. Any other suggestions? Leave them below please

Sooo, i been working on upgrading my pc for a while now. I started last year and upgraded everything but my gpu and psu, and then this year i finally got those parts aswell. And ever since i finished it i've gotten significantly lower fps than the benchmarks i've looked at. So what im curious about is if i need to get a new cpu again, or could it be something else? Im currently running the Asus 1080 strix, and a i5-7600k, along with a 750w psu and 16 gigs of 3000mhz corsair vengeance RGB ram on the Asus ROG strix z270E mobo. This is also the first time im posting on a forum, so be gentle

So I built my pc about 9 months ago mainly for work with the idea of keeping room for upgrades. I upgraded with a GPU about 1 month ago, a 6gb GTX 1060. Initially I was using it for a light work load, mostly web & office docs. Now I do some light gaming on it - nothing too heavy. I've gotten the modding bug and I am just obsessed with keeping up with hardware trends, and having the best. I want to build a new PC - but when it came down to it, I thought "Do I really even NEED a new pc?" Budget is not really a concern, although I don't want to spend a huge amount of money if I don't have to. It comes down to the fact that I figure the pc I currently have is actually not a bad build by anyone's standards. Maybe it can be upgraded? Here's what I currently have: I am running on two 27" Acer HA270 screens, an additional $320 combined. There are also about $30 worth of Corsair 120mm LED fans. So I put the rig up for sale for $800 - +$100 for windows + $250 for both screens. I actually got some hits, and one commitment to buy the whole set up for $1150 if I hold it for him for another week. I said sure - and took the ads down. I think my price was fair - about $300 less than what I paid for everything, and it's practically new - in mint condition. And if the buyer doesn't follow through then I can keep it or relist it. BUT - what would I upgrade to? I'd be happier with a mobo with bluetooth and wifi - but nothing an adapter can't fix. Do I need to get the i7-8700k or i7-8086k? Is it even worth going down the i9x & x299 route? Just for more cores and threads when mine is faster speed-wise? I don't think I absolutely need more cores & threads, do I? Aesthetically I would like a new case for sure the phanteks p400s tge or evolv x when it comes out in August, and better gaming monitors. I would like to have my hand at water cooling. Is it silly to do all that and spend another $2500 when the only thing that would be better / faster would be a 1080ti GPU and the newer gaming monitors to hopefully game at 4k. I don't know - what would you do? If you weren't rich but you had the money? Would you sell and rebuild or just upgrade? My fear is that I do it and then it becomes obsolete by next year. The upgrade option includes upgrading and waiting for the next gen of nvidia gpu's and intel cpus but who knows when that will even be? What would you rebuild or upgrade to? Share your thoughts and if you want to post a full build then keep it about $2,500 or less and make sure 2 or 3 quality monitors are included.

Hi everyone! Just upgraded my i3-7100 to an i5-7600k and a Cryorig H7. Now, when I turn it on, I get this (https://streamable.com/179yp) behavior. All the fans spin up, and all the lights turn on; it just doesn’t want to post. Any ideas? Thanks... EDIT: My mobo is a GA-H270M-HS3H, and my GPU is a GTX 1070.

So, today I went to load into R6S, and straight away the game was super choppy, with long frame times even when just scrolling through the menu. My CPU is normally the bottleneck in this game as it's quite CPU-heavy (runs 100% usage normally), but I still have to limit the FPS to 144 to match my monitor. Today, though, the CPU seemed to be choking a bit, plus the load times were extra long. The CPU was at 100% usage, and the GPU was only at 50-60% at around only 100 FPS, sometimes dropping to 20 or below, with incredibly long frame times. It was completely unplayable. At desktop the CPU sits around 20%, but occasionally spikes to around 40. Windows explorer animations are slow and choppy too. The CPU is OC'd to 4.5GHz at 1.305V, and it has been for almost as long as I've had the build (~6 months) without any previous problems. Possible causes: Windows updated this morning; AI Suite had recently been messing up a little, so I uninstalled it this morning, only noticed problems after uninstalling and attempting re-installation. AI Suite had changed the OC (I can't remember what to) and the GUI was buggy, re-uninstalled it; ASUS Z270E UEFI auto overclocking, tried to use that to fix a maybe bad overclock, CPU crashed when trying to boot, and the blue-screened after booting in safe mode, but booted after turning off the comp and trying again; Heat damage to CPU (?), friend suggested this, not sure about it though, hadn't heard any jet engine-like noises from the comp, but still viable. Changed thermal paste this evening, old stuff was like a salt flat :/; Something firmware/driver /UEFI related that I don't understand. I'm still new to overclocking, and computers in general. Things I've done to try to fix it: Cleared CMOS; Manually restoring OC to default; Auto OC'd using the UEFI; Defragged my SSD; Reapplying thermal paste. OS is Windows 10 Please help, I'm way out of my depth here and my computer is pretty special to me.
