Hello, good afternoon. I've just upgraded from 3570 to 4790k along with the H97M-E motherboard as I only have a M-ATX casing. It was one week ago that I upgraded it, since then I'm already receiving the high temp on the motherboard but never took it too seriously untill now. It was already 120 Celcius right after I installed it however in the ASUS bios it's only showing 41 celcius same as ASUS AI Suite 3. But in Speccy, HWmonitor, HWinfo, Speedfan they are all saying it's 120 celcius. And speedfan says that the main motherboard is 41 celcius same as ASUS bios and Suite 3. I got the motherboard second hand, not sure if it's because of that Thank you in advance and any helps are appreciated

Hello my Friends, today i Overclocked my i7 4790k from stock 4,0 to 4,8GHZ with my H97 Mainboard, the Question is, why it is possible, i just adjust the Mulitplier and it worked. with 4.9 GHz the Cinebench Run will Crash and everything above Windows don't wanna boot. i thought Overclocking Via BLCK is impossible with H Mainboards

Hello guys! I just need some help in determining whether my motherboard is able to support the full speed of Samsung 950 Pro. Here are some info about my motherboard: Intel® H97 chipset : 1 x SATA Express port, compatible with 2 x SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports1 x M.2 Socket 3, , with M Key, type 2260/2280 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)*2 *1: When PCIEX1_1 or PCIEX1_2 is occupied by x1 device,PCIEX16_2 will be at x2 mode.*2: M.2 Socket 3 shares bandwidth with PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2(in PCIE mode) & SATA6G_4(in SATA mode), and supports M Key and type 2260/2280 storage devices. (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97PRO_GAMER/specifications/) Samsung 950 Pro stated that it can reach up to 2.200MB/sec and 900MB/sec (256 Gb version) (http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/950pro.html) Will my motherboard support the full speed of the SSD? and also I have a wifi PCIE adapter hooked up to the PCIEX16_2 is the performance going to be affected if I install the 950 Pro? Thanks before!

Hello everyone! I will be building my first computer some time soon, and I will probably get a microatx case. My cpu will be the g3258. Now I know that I can overclock this cpu on the H chipsets, but due to future proofing I was thinking about getting a Z board, because the first thing I probably will upgrade it the cpu, but not sure if I want an unlocked. Should I get a Z97 board? And if no, should I just go with a h81 board or get a h97 board? Thanks

Hello, Currently i am running the following configuration: Mainboard: Gigabyte z87x-ud3h Gigabyte mobo link CPU: Intel xeon e3 1241-v3 RAM: Kingston HyperX beast 16GB 1600MHz GPU: MSI GTX980ti Gaming 6G Now I want to change my System to a mini ITX Form factor. I already have Chosen the new mainbaord and it is already ordered. It will be a MSI h97i ac MSI mobo link Why I choose the h97 chipset? - The features are almost the same except for the Overclocking. - I am going to keep the z87 mainboard for a possible future build. - It has Wifi already installed. - I don't need the OC feature for the xeon. Now I would like to know if anyone has any experience when switching to another chipset. Do I have to make new install of Windows? Switching from my i7-4770k to the xeon didn't require a fresh install of Windows. If you need any further Information please just reply.

Okay so I'm trying to overclock my 4690k on my H97 board (you heard that right) and I'm running into some stability issues. I can reach 4.3ghz @ 1.065v + 0.010v perfectly fine with good temps and everything, but I just can't make it to 4.4ghz. I even tried raising to voltage to 1.230 and no luck. Is it because of my m-board? (Asrock H97 Anniversary) Also I bought a MSI Z97 Krait off Newegg a few days ago so I'm not too worried. Is it a cpu or motherboard issue? Specs: i5 4690k Cryorig H7 Asrock H97 Anniversary 8gb Gskill Ares GTX 760 EVGA 650w Gold Ps: Sorry for this being so long, I just wanted to explain everything

This will be my very first PC that I'm building, with some help and perhaps during the last week of March Madness, it may come together. The build's primarily a Handbrake factory, pumping out videos and simple video-editing for portable devices, like a PSP or an ITouch 2015. Budget's at $850. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/29cqD3 1. With the Xeon, Asus H97I and 16gb RAM cards, will this be able to speed Handbrake's conversion rates to 200 fps, or less? (The 200 fps is based on Handbrake usage in a Dell Optiplex 7440 AIO with a I7 vpro core) 2. Do I need radiators for this build? 3. Should the option come around, can this build be upgraded to a gaming rig with appropriate parts to be able to play 2015-2016 pc games (Witcher III, Fallout 4, The Division) at minimum? Feel free to take apart or improve. Thanks.

Hey guys, I just swapped out my H97-Gaming 3 mobo to Z97-Gaming 5 mobo (both Gigabtye) and now my CPU is running at full speed 3999MHz even on idling. It also produce tonnes of heat while playing Skyrim on SLI (Highest core temp reaches 91 C) which is significantly higher than both of my GTX970 G1 Gaming. (77 c & 72 c respectively) And the clock speed went up to ranging 4009~4063MHz which I think it's supposed to be capped at 3999MHz for 4790 non-k CPU May I know is there anything wrong with my bios or is it normal? Thanks in advance
-
Short intro: new build for a family member, it's workstation PC for Web Development/graphic design. Everything is working normally, got Windows installed and drivers going, blah, blah, blah. I was doing normal stuff and noticed that HWMonitor reported that the mainboard temp was at 115C (CPU, TZ00, and TZ01 Temps all between 25 and 30C, GPU temp 37C)). First assumption was that the program was wrong, so I tried a different program (Speedfan) just to see the same thing. Booted to BIOS, and in the BIOS the mobo temp in the Monitor tab says 30-31C. I popped open the case to check physically for heat. The only heatsink on this mobo is the gold one over what I assume is the Southbridge. It feels slightly warm. Definitely wouldn't be boiling water on it. Plus, there are no airflow dead zones in the case. Corsair 350D, x2 140mm intake fans in the front, h100iGTX exhasting out of the top, and the 120mm in the back) Figured I would update the BIOS to see if that would help (it didn't). Oh and I also tested for bit without the GPU installed on the off chance that it was putting heat towards the mobo. So, I don't think I have a reason to be worried. I am assuming it is a software issue with how Windows is reading the sensor because the BIOS says it has normal temps and the mobo has no parts that are hot to the touch. I was hoping that maybe someone else here maybe has had a similar experience for I email ASUS directly. I would obviously prefer to not have to RMA the board lol. Mobo: ASUS H97M-E CPU: 4790k (cooled by h100i GTX) RAM: 16 GB Mushkin GPU: EVGA 970 SC PSU: RM850x SSD: 250GB 850 EVO HDD: x2 4TB Seagate (RAID 1)

NEED HELP! I just build this brand new PC and I can't seem to overclock. (or I just don't know how). First-time build and first time overclocker.. So far BEFORE everything I tested with memtest86 and Aida64 just to check stock stability. So far so good. Now I don't know what to change in the UEFI BIOS.

Okay, so recently I lost my work/play PC due to a unfortunate house fire on Christmas eve! Yay! Excellent Christmas gift, I'm blaming santa! I'm wanting to build a system that don't draw as much power and can still run games with a little headroom. I am aiming to get a i5 4460 refresh when I am able to afford it but I am at a loss here! When using PC part picker I noticed that due to the haswell refresh a lot of the older motherboards that just might be in my price range may require a bios update. Oh man, you know the feeling. . . Just got that new box of PC parts in the mail and you get a no-post just to find out you need to buy yet another chip JUST to do a bios update?! No thanks! That is something I would like to avoid and due to the repairs and redneck remodeling I really, really need to save as much money as possible on this build. I have attempted to do my homework and check with motherboard MFG's to see what Bios they ship with their boards that I was interested in, this proved to be a waste of time and next to impossible, even contacting the seller directly like Newegg or Amazon they were unable to tell me which bios I would end up with. I do use my PC for work too but the requirements for that are next to nothing just basic VDI software. I was able to Salvage a Corsair VX 430 PSU, My brother gave me 8 GB of RAM and a MSI GTX 960 4GB OC. Anyone have any suggestions on a good motherboard to pair with the 4460? I cannot afford $100.00 on a board, I honestly can't even afford $75.00, $50 to $60 would be my max so please keep that in mind if helping, I'm NOT picky and almost don't care if it includes USB 3.0 but that would be nice! I am also most comfortable with MSI products but would be open to any suggestion especially if it is in my price range and it's guaranteed to work with a haswell refresh. Also for all of you intel peeps out there, is there a cheaper i5 that I can buy that will run most games? I want to make sure its a quad core because I don't want to have to do any work around's to run games like farcry 4 and whatnot. Thank you for reading my post! Any help is appreciated!

Okay, so I've tried looking it up online, but I cannot find a direct answer. Some people say yes, some people say no, most results are from a year ago. I bought this Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130787 The MSI Gaming 3 H97, thinking I was buying the Gaming 3 Z97. I done goofed. I'm getting the i5-4690k, and I was hoping to overclock to at least 4.0 or 4.2 with the CM Hyper 212 Evo on it. Is it possible to do, can someone tell me from experience? Or should/can I simply return in, and then buy a Z97 board instead? I'd rather not have to go through the process of returning it, but if it means I get a reliable overclock, I will do it Thanks in advance

Hey guys, I'm having some hard time deciding what MOBO to choose. I have an i5 4460, 16 GHz of 1600 RAM and a R9 380 4GB. I don't care about overclock (see the non-K CPU) and I am just a mid-level gamer. I don't know if I should go with ASROCK H97 Pro4 or the ASUS H81 Gamer (same price here). This is what I know: ASRock: It's a newer chipset, windows 10 ready and supports from the start the 4460 CPU. ASUS: it's a older chipset, windows 8.1 ready (not windows 10 ready -yet), it need a bios update so the 4460 can run and it has supremeFX audio. TBH, I was 99% sure that I will get the ASRock MOBO. But that blue color scheme is ruining all because I have RED rams and an MSI video card. So the only real reason I would pick the ASUS is the color and maybe the SupremeFX audio. Let me know what would you do? Thank you!

Like the title say's are msi motherboards good? I like Asus, but the msi (gaming edition) are more cheap and so far my asus mb have survive many esd, so i would like to know if the msi are as good as asus. P.S: Mb to choose- http://www.msi.com/product/mb/H97-GAMING-3.html#hero-overview - or - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97PRO_GAMER/-.

I'm building a pc for only gaming. I need help on which motherboard I should get. I want to be able to use an overclockable cpu in the future and use larger gpu's like gtx 970's. What's the best deal I can get for a mobo for these needs (preferably red and H97)?

...I went into my Gigabyte H97's BIOS and found the settings for the CPU multiplier and voltage. I settings are currently locked since I have non-K CPU right now but does this mean the mobo I have is able to OC unlocked Intel CPU?

Hello; I have a problem; my issue is that I'm going for a black/red color scheme and I've looked everyone and FINALLY found a MOBO that's red/black that is actually cheap(its 100, but $80 after rebate) I've even ordered a black keyboard with a red backlight and red LED strips it's awesome, my ram is also red/black! but there's a problem... its only a H97 :o I'm sad because I may want to overclock in the future but the z97 that are black/red, or even black for that matter are about $135($109.99 on newegg after $25 rebate) As of right now I can't even overclock my CPU because its a i3 4160, but I'm obviously going to upgrade to a i5 or i7 later and I may want to overclock and overclock my gpu, I really don't want to have to purchase a new motherboard later.. Should I just ditch the color scheme idea and just get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157508&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= Should I get the z97? Or does this sh*t even matter? lol. Thanks guise.

hey all, my friend has bought a intel 4690 (non k-series) cpu, he does not intend on overclocking. And was wondering if he should buy a h97 gamer pro or z97-k motherboard, as they are the same price from where he's purchasing them? thanks in advance EDIT: these are the exact boards http://www.msy.com.au/nsw/auburn/pc-components/13689-asus-z97-k-intel-z97-s1150-4xddr3-2xpciex16-hdmi-dvi-d-sub-glan-atx-motherboard.html http://www.msy.com.au/nsw/auburn/pc-components/14511-asus-h97-pro-gamer-intel-h97-s1150-4xddr3-2xpciex16-hdmi-dvi-d-sub-intel-glan-atx-motherboard.html

Basically I want to build a new PC after long 7 years . Motherboard: H97 Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3 CPU: Intel i5-4690 Graphics card: GeForce GTX960 MSI 2GB GDDR5 / Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X Tri-X (haven't decided on that yet) HDD: HDD SATA3 7200 1TB Toshiba RAM: DDR3 4GB 1600MHz Kingston HyperX Savage CL9 x2 PSU: 500W SilverStone SST-ST50F So the reason why I put this here is that someone actually told me to not go for anything below H97. Since in my country this H97 is almost the double price of ASUS B85M-G I was wondering what would I actually lose if I went with Asus mobo. Also when I used cooler master calculator it displayed 443W so after reading a review on hardware secrets and also johhny guru or something like that I found this cheap, but still good PSU and was wondering is it ok for this build? Advices are welcomed, but keep in mind this build in my country is around US$1050 so I don't have a lot of room for upgrades.
