I have no idea what I did wrong. I originally bought an ASUS Prime X370 Pro MB, and hooked up two EVGA GTX 970s in SLI. I ran this for about a week before returning the board because of other unrelated issues, but just for fun while I had it, I ran Cinebench and got an OpenGL score of somewhere in the mid 90s I remember. I also tried out a couple games and got somewhere around 90-100 FPS in PUBG, 68 FPS roughly in Hellblade, and about 85 in GTA. Fast forward, and I now have the more expensive Asus ROG Strix X370-F Gaming MB. I noticed my FPS in games wasn't nearly what it use to be with the old board, and I had only changed that. I did reinstall Windows, but SLI is set up (Auto-detected in NVIDIA Control Panel). I am getting anywhere from 79-84 FPS in Cinebench, ~60-70 FPS in PUBG, and ~40-65 FPS in GTA. I've also noticed a lot more stuttering and some freezes in games. While playing GTA, my whole system will freeze for about 20 seconds then catch itself. At some points (only in GTA) I had this weird drop to 9 FPS for about 5 minutes every half hour or so. GTA also has been crashing randomly. So I don't know what I did wrong. Any thoughts? Geforce Experience reports the latest drivers are installed, as far as I know SLI is configured, and I reseated the cards and even switched PCIe slots. It's also worth noting that when I disable SLI and run only one card through Cinebench, I get ~85-87 FPS. How does that work?

I currently own 3 video cards, 2x EVGA 970's, and 1x R9 390 8gb. And I'm trying to up my graphics/gaming output. Given the build below, do I effort and obtain a new mobo that can run SLI for the 970's? Do I keep the R9? OR do I sell all three and attempt to obtain a newer card? (Titan / 1070 Ti / 1080 / 1080 Ti) Given that hwcompare can give the direct comparison of 1x 970, but not 2x, I have troubles finding answers on if SLI is even worth it. But overclocking the 7700k is! But I'm new to overclocking (never had the hardware for it until now) Halp. I can't seem to find a solid answer on any of this. Any suggestions are welcome. Also if anyone can help me overclock the beast 7700k? If I can hit 5.0Ghz that would be pretty diggity dope. This mobo has over clocking options, but as far as *I* can tell it has no "core voltage" setting which Im pretty sure is needed for stable over-clocks beyond what's currently running. If a new/better mobo is needed, which one do I get? Currently running: I7-7700k @4.5Ghz MSI Z270 Tomahawk Arctic 8 gb (1 stick) Vengence DDR4 RAM (white) 2x EVGA GTX 970's (reference clock) 850W psu (forgot the brand but tis decent)

Alright, as the title says, Who has received a GTX 1080 and was it worth the upgrade? Mine should be here Tuesday if NCIX estimates are correct. What are upgrading from? Are you happy? Wanting some info from real people using this card. I have a 5930K with 980 SLI and a I7 920 with 970 SLI. From EVERY thing i have read, i maybe wasting my money buying a new card. (but i like shiny new toys and with get a second when the funds are there) Seems that, if the games you play are good with SLI. I will notice 0 difference. For games that don't support SLI, it will be a giant improvement. Now, VR, which i do plan to get this year, is where the difference will be, lower latency with out SLI. That being said I put out some ads for selling my 970's and 980's. Asking $300 for the 970 and $350 for the 980. And wow. Low balls from hell. Everyone was saying, the new cards are out, so how about $200 canadian rupees for your 970, or $250 for the 980. The GTX 1080 are $909-$989 Canadian. The GTX 1070 will be $750ish Canadian. What are these people thinking. I thought about like this, you go looking to buy a used car. A guy is selling a Camero for $30,000. And you say to the guy, well the new $100,000 Corvette is out so your Camero is only worth $10000. They are not marketed to the same people. Am i being ignorant, over valuing my hardware or what? Not looking for fights. Just good conversation about expectations on the new and selling the old. Thanks for reading.

Hello Guys at the Forum, so i need some help with my new rig that i will build soon. My general plan is to build my pc with one gpu first and then buy a second one later on.... So i choosed the gtx 970 over the r9 390 for several reasons. Mostly because of the hilarious power consumption and heat output of the r9 390 and the better driver support on the nvidia side. But i do not know if a core i5 6500 is enough for those sli 970s at all. The 6600k would fit all the way but it is more expensive with the aftermarket cpu cooler i have to buy too. So do u think that this works? BTW 1080p gaming only! so far....

I just built a new system in Brisbane, Australia and I have no idea whether I need to water cool or not. System specs are as follows: Skylake 6600k @4.1Ghz Idling at around 32C (maxes at around 65-70C) 2X GTX 970 Asus Turbos Idling at around 34C for the bottom card and 36C for the top card (maxes at around 80C) My issue is that I just have stock fans and I have added another 2 fans to just blow outside air to my GPUs. The issue is taht my house has no air-conditioning and is normally around 25-28C. I have been looking at getting liquid cooling for the GPUs because they seem to be hammered the most. I can play Witcher 3 at Ultra settings with 40-50fps and High at 60fps which is awesome but I keep Afterburner open in the background, constantly checking to see temps. They always hover around the 79-80C mark for my GPUs and I feel that's just because that's the temp limit that's set in Afterburner. One thing that seems to work is throttling the fans up to 80-100% but then they start to make a sort of 'my computer is taxiing down the runway' sort of noise and that scares me lol. A few IT shops I've asked this question seem to think that there's no point in liquid cooling because the temps can never drop below ambient temps anyway, which makes sense. I've never done any sort of cooling, be it big after market air coolers or liquid cooling. Any insight into this would be awesome and I will give cookies

Hi all So this is going to be my first build, I'll use it mostly to game (4K in the future) with but I'll also do some photo and video editing. System CPU - 4790K Motherboard - Asus Maximus Formula VII RAM - Corsair Vengeance 2400 2x8GB - CMY16GX3M2A2400C11A GPU - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 OC Windforce - I'll add another later PSU - EVGA 850 G2 - overkill I gather but I want to have more juice up my sleeve HDD's - Crucial MX200 250GB - OS and Game storage - Crucial M4 512GB - Quick storage for large Vid files I deal with (I had this for a Blackmagic Hyperdrive that I don't use, so it's going in the rig now) - WD Black 3T x 2 - for long term storage of photo's, video, etc. I may RAID them and will probably add more later Case - Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, white Monitor - HD at the moment but will upgrade to 4K or a 3440x1440 when I have more $ Cable mods cables red, because they're super cool Cooling - Water? Air? suggestions please So I bought my motherboard and RAM online at the same time and didn't realise that there is a list of compatible RAM configs for the motherboard and my sticks aren't on it. What would happen if I use them in the build, I've not had the time to start building it yet so haven't tried it out to see if it they would work. Partpicker seems to think they are compatible but I want some real person advice. Cooling - I'd really love to build a hardline water loop just because they are so damn cool but is it really going to be worth it for me? I'm not intending on OC the system for a while if ever so I'm pretty sure it's way over kill. Any suggestions would be great.

Hello guys and gals, I have a low FPS (for my setup) problem on BF4. My setup (see below) should be getting 120+ fps, with dips into the 100s on BF4 on max settings at 1080p with 2X MSAA. Problem is I get about 80-90 fps with dips into the 60s which is about the same that I got with one GTX 970. Same thing went for Far Cry 3 with max settings except with 2X MSAA and no FXAA. I looked at my GPU usage and the GPU usage for both cards in SLI were around 60%. This is bothering me because, I didn't pay $700 to use 60% of my cards. I think it could be a bad NVidia SLI profile. It also could be a motherboard? Z87 seems to not work well with Devil's Canyon. People with similar setups on FPS videos on YouTube are getting much higher FPS than I am. Benchmarks are getting much better FPS than I am. Lastly, when I restart my computer, my computer black screens. So when I want to restart, I have to hold the button and then turn on the computer again. So I am reaching out to see if I can get some good input here and hopefully this can help someone else out in the future. What I tried to help the problem 1) Clean Install of Windows 8.1 2) Used all recommended profiles with Nvidia Inspector 3) Updated my Drivers 4) Checked temperatures. All were below 60C 5) Went into Nvidia Control Panel and checked Max Power Usage, Max Frames Rendered 1, Threaded Optimization on, V Sync Off and Single Display mode. 6) Tried new SLI bridge 7) Unparked Cores 8) OCed GPU slightly Specs CPU: Intel i7 4790k @ Stock with Turbo up to 4.4 GHz. Cooled with Corsair H105 with FM121's in Push Pull on High settings. GPU 2X MSI GTX 970 Gaming Motherboard: MSI Gaming Z87-G45 PSU: EVGA Super Nova 1300 Watt Gold Memory: Corsair Vengence 8 GB 1600 Mhz Black OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit HDD(s) 1 TB WD Blue 500 GB WD Blue 240 GB Kingston SSD Now Case: Cooler Master HAF 932

So I have a question about my 970 SLI setup: As you can see I have two different cables, one for each card, however each cable has two 8-pin connectors. Should I use just one cable for both cards?

Hey guys I want to buy an AsRock Z97 Extreme4 motherboard, but I'm not sure if it's capable of SLI. It sais, that the PCI-E slots are 8x/8x is that enough for two GTX 970s in SLI, or do I need full 16x/16x? I don't really understand what 8x/8x means. Sorry, my english isn't the best.

Gtx 980 sli vs Gtx 970 sli what's the best way to go? I do not want to spend extra $ for few more 10 or 15 fps. I tried to search about this but I couldn't find any result. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Maktoob5/saved/vQjBD3 This is the pc I'm trying to build. Should I go for I7 5930k if i'm trying to go for sli? I'm using 1080p monitor that support 144hz Computer is for gaming and workstation. How much fps will Gtx 980 sli get from Battlefield 4/ Crysis 3 on ultra 1080p/1440p? How much fps will Gtx 970 sli get from Battlefield 4/ Crysis 3 on ultra 1080p/1440p? Also, any recommendation for great headphone under $150? Difference between WD black and blue? Can you pull out a spec if you have time to do so? Budget is about $2000~$3300 $2400 will be better. I was thinking about http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Maktoob5/saved/JtRwrH this build at a same time but pretty sure it will be outdated really quick since technology these days are increasing fast.
