Hi guys,i currently have a budget pc i installed with used components except the psu the build is : i5 4590 (stock cooler) z87-k mobo 8gb ram 500gb hdd cx450m psu intel hd 4600 and a cheap old antec sonata case with a 120mm exhaust fan at the back. i was thinking that i should get a cheap dedicated gpu even though i'm low on budget so what i found was a used gtx 570 or used gtx 560 ti or hd 7750. or i could just keep using integrated graphics until i have enough money for something better(going to be a long time). so i was hoping to get some advice on this 1.should i get those used gpus or keep using the integrated one? 2.is the cx450m enough for the gtx 570 ? 3.And if i use the igpu for some older games with lowered settings would i need a better cpu cooler to not fry the cpu?

Hello LTT Community, The gaming rig I built has flat out refused to post recently and I could really use some help in solving this problem as I also use it for my CAD schoolwork, and class starts on 9/6 (4 days) SPECS- Asus P9X79 DELUXE Intel Core i7-3820 EVGA GTX 560 Ti 16gb 2133mhz G.Skill Ripjawz X Fractal Design Define R5 Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm HDD SeaSonic 760XP2 Cooler - Xigmatek Gaia So this all started when I noticed I was getting unusually high GPU temps (into the 90s C) and it was crashing occasionally during folding@home (im on the LTT team). So I took my card out to do some basic dusting and ended up replacing the thermal paste. I put the card back in and after a few failed boots get into Windows. Since that I haven't been in Windows for more than 10 minutes without a crash of some sort. No BSOD yet though. I have gotten what I believe to be graphics drivers failures (screen randomly blacks out and stays that way) and full system failures. They have gradually gotten worse and now the system doesn't even post 90% of the time. I have gotten a combination of B2 and A2 errors (Legacy ROM Initialization and IDE Detect). I have switched the PCIe slot my GPU is in, switched the SATA slot my hard drive is plugged into, rechecked all the power plugs, and switched SATA cables, reinstalled and updated GPU Drivers, and mobo drivers, and BIOS, and I'm completely stumped. HALP! Thanks so much.

Hi guys, I am having some PC trouble. I started seeing some trouble after I moved my PC to another country (just took motherboard, cpu, gfx, hard disks, ram and bought new case + psu) At first it was working great and all was a-ok. Then one time artifacts started showing up on the screen and windows froze. after restart it worked fine. however after I moved to another the pc to another flat, it keeps showing artifacts and freezing whenever i'm using the browser watching streams/videos or opening any game. watching streams works for a few minutes up to 20 or 30 even but then always windows freezes however games cause this to happen much quicker, almost immediately. Also after I restart from one of these incidents and try again it happens much quicker. unless I leave it be for an hour or to. I naturally thought it was a heat problem, but the temp tool shows all normal temps with max 65 C on gpu and 50 on CPU as i'm not overclocking or doin anything intensive. I also ran corruption checks on the windows using sfc command but that came up clean. I ran norton anti virus to check for malware but nothing came up as well. One time windows recovered from being frozen and shut itself down showing this error video_scheduler_internal_error Unfortunately my MB doesn't have on-board video so I can't test without the video card. Is there any way to confirm if it's a hardware issue with the GFX or an OS issue? preferably I wouldn't have to reinstall windows. this is my setup MB: Z68-UD3-B3 Cpu: core i7 2600k ram: 8 GB GFX: Nvidia GTX 560 ti PSU: 650W Corsair vengance OS: Windows 10 Any help would be highly appreciated. I'll upload a pic of the freeze later today thanks

Hi everyone, I'm having some troubles trying to overclock my CPU. When I had my Radeon XFX HD5870, everything was fine. I was able to overclock my Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 from 2.66GHz to 3.20GHz without any problem such as BSOD or crashes of any kind. But then, my HD5870 suddenly died due to overheat (I believe). So I've purchased a Gainward GTX 560 Ti 'Golden Sample' since it's more or less the same power of my old card. I've decided to purchase this specific card because I didn't want any bottleneck. But then, after a couple of tests such as benchmarks and games, I've tried to overclock my CPU again to the same frequency (3.20GHz) but it wasn't stable at all. No BSODs actually, but basically all the games was crashing after a couple minutes. Google Chrome's Flash was crashing too. So I've tried to lower the frequency but no luck at all; it's stable at default clock only. I also want to say that I own an ASUS Rampage Formula x48 motherboard which have its own built-in overclocking profiles, hence I've used them to overclock my CPU (no manual overclock whatsoever). Then I've discovered that some Source engine games was definitely less performant with the 560 Ti than my HD5870, reaching a minimum of 35fps on CS:GO and 40fps on L4D2 (minimum values with my HD5870 was 80 and 90fps each). So I've decided to check the GPU usage on such games, and it couldn't go over 60% usage, with a minimum of 40% and an average of 50%. I also tried many different drivers (no beta, just WHQL) but no luck. So my questions are: - Is there a way to overclock my CPU? - Is my GPU bottlenecked by my CPU? - Is it a driver problem? My rig is on my signature if you need it. Any help is appreciated. I'm sorry for my english but I'm not a native english speaker. Thanks everybody.

So my friend has this weird problem after purchasing and installing an ASUS GTX 970 STRIX OC on his P67 AsRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 mobo. He's running a 2600k, 8GB 1333Mhz G.Skill, 750w Antec psu, etc.etc. So initially there was no display from the 970. Then troubleshooting began and to no avail. About to give up and call it a DOA, we tried flashing the bios, uninstalling the driver for the 560 Ti, etc. and for some weird reason that I can't even fathom the 970 will only work if the 560 Ti is in the second PCIe slot.... and if the 560 Ti is removed while the PC is on (I know that's probably not the best thing to do but fuck it) it still displays but when the PC is restarted there is no display again until we turn it off and reinstall the 560 Ti and turn it on again... the 970 works flawless but it's as if the motherboard won't accept it unless it has the 560 Ti in there with it... I'm almost dumbfounded but I'm assuming it's a bios issue with this older chipset. This still doesn't make sense though..

Hey Guys I have installed a GTX 560 TI (Asus Direct CU II TOP "Overclocked") for ca 3 1/2 years now, and suddenly my friend stopped by me with a new MSI GTX 560 TI. So he wanted me to have it and install SLI in my computer. So we tried first by just installing the card and SLI bridge and turn it on, but we could not set in SLI in Nvidia Contoll panel. Just the GTX 560 TI (1) and GTX 560 TI (2). Then we checked what the internett said (link down below) And it didn't work. (It might be the SLI bridge, and i only have one, so wanted to ask here) So I hope i can get some help from you guys Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 - SLI and Crossfire enabled Asus Graphic card (1 Way SLI "output") MSI Graphic card (2 Way SLI "output") Also tried to set the card the other way ( Asus on top, MSI on bottom - MSI on top, Asus on bottom) OS: Windows 8.1 Links: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1716215/set-sli-config.html http://www.wikihow.com/Establish-Nvidia-SLI (Failed at step "Part 2, Step 3")

Hey guys, so a couple days ago I asked if anyone would be interested in seeing me put an ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV onto my Nvidia GTX 560 TI which has had a few issues. The majority of you said it'd be interesting to see so here we go. First off all, the problems I wanted to address from the stock cooler was: 1. Insanely high idle temperatures normally around 80c 2. Extremely loud fan even at idle 3. Fan ramping up to 80% during gaming and being incredibly loud. Louder than my game volume at most points (I use speakers) Now I did have a few different options for VGA coolers, certainly ones that cost less. However, I figured, I'm probably going to get a beefier GPU in the upcoming year, might as well go with something big and people know works well. Now I'm aware of the VRM problems that this cooler has been said to have, but that's mainly with the R9 290, 290x and Nvidia 780 ti, graphics card I don't expect to get for a WHILE if at all. As well, if I do have VRM problems, I can always buy aftermarket heat sinks. When buying my new GPU, I can even save some bucks by buying a reference design card and swapping out the cooler and overclocking it myself. So it came in the mail about 2 days ago and I found myself having to make some minor modifications to my case as it was too big (Removed the hard drive cage that was bolted in) Once that was squared away I was able to get started. Here's everything that came in the box. As you can see, there's some thermal padding and a protective film for the back plate, so if you do choose to put this cooler on a different GPU, I guess you'd have to request more thermal padding and protective film as you do have to cut the protective film to make holes for the padding to make contact with the metal back plate. So here's my GTX 560 TI with the old, crap, cooler on it. It is a reference card, which the Arctic is designed to go on. The fan on the end pushes air through the card, through a heat sink on top of the processing unit, then out the back of the computer as you can see in these pictures. Look at all that dust on that heat sink. No matter my temperatures were through the roof. Of course, the second monitor doesn't exactly help matters either. Both heat sinks had to be removed. The one on the right was waaaaay too tall and the Accelero was not going to clear it so I just cut off the plastic bits holding it to the PCB and put thermal padding on the back for the back plate to cool it. I cleaned the processors and the chips off with some 91% isopropyl alcohol. And here's the completely stripped down board. Rather small without the fan at the end. Definitely small compared to the cooler. So here's all the thermal padding put underneath the VRMs and the RAM chips Each side had a piece of film on it that needed to be peeled off to reveal a sticky surface. Wasn't till after I cut it did I realize it was pre-cut. Oh well, should still work completely fine! There were 4 double sided screws that had to be put in with some washers. My card called to use both sized washers, some only need 1 size. At the time I too this photo I failed to realize that 2 of the screws were not put into the right hole, so please take a note, this is NOT correct for the GTX 560 TI Now here you can see the CORRECT placements. Since the cooler had pre-applied thermal compound, I just placed the PCB on top of it. You can also see my pretty piss poor job of cutting the protective film, but hey, as long as the back plate doesn't touch any components and short anything out, it's fine. I started scoring it with a knife till I realized I could just used scissors. So I did! Then a piece of foam goes in the middle right underneath the processor. Now the back plate is lined up and attached with 4 nuts as well as 4 metal washers to make sure nothing moves around. Clips where then put onto both sides of the PCB and back plate to secure it even more and to have a place to screw in the graphics card holder. And we're done. Look at that beast of a cooler. Can hardly see the graphics card in it! Absolutely huge, but amazing looking. Runs very cool, very quiet. Even at 100% my CPU cooler is louder than it. Idle temps are much much much better now, even while under load, my GPU never goes higher than 65c now and it's absolutely amazing. Thank you for reading my thread on my most recent project, any comments, feedbacks, and opinions are always welcomed and encouraged!
