Hi, my old GTX 1060 3GB has recently died, and I got a great deal on an almost brand new GTX 1660Ti (for 120 bucks, with still valid warranty...). When I bought my PC, I knew very little about the hardware, that was 4 years ago. The previous 1060 was powered by: MBD->6-pin Pcie->SATA->MOLEX->6-pin Pcie on the GPU. The SATA is also split into two more, in which the SSD and the HDD is plugged. The max TDP for both the cards is 120W. Only one yellow wire (which I assume is +12V) goes out from the motherboard itself, along with 2 ground (black) wires and one 5V red wire. All this was (and is) powering both the drives and the GPU. Since this is an upgraded HP tower 800 G1, the PSU is OEM, and does't have any GPU outputs by default. Currently, the new 1660Ti is being wired up like this: MBD->6-pin Pcie on the MBD->SATA->MOLEX->8-pin. I bought a MOLEX to 8-pin adaptor, but there are 2 molexes and just one is connected as of now, which means there's only 3/8 pins really connected into the GPU, which seems to be running just fine. The max Pcie slot output on the MBD is 75W, and the rest is being supplied by the 8-pin, which is running from the SATA->Molex (SATA's max wattage is 54W). I dunno if the Pcie slot supplies the maximum and the rest is being drawn from the 8-pin, or if the 8-pin draws the most, and the Pcie slot is jsut an additional power source. Now, I ordered a 1 MOLEX->2 MOLEX adaptor, which I wanna put inbetween the GPU and the SATA->MOLEX cable, to have all 8 pins on the GPU utilised, so the wattage will be split inbetween all +12V pins, instead of one (that's how it's now). The second idea was to buy a 1 SATA->2 SATA, which will power the drives, and I will buy a 2SATA->8-pin which will power the GPU. Schematic 1 is the current wiring; schematic 2 is how I'll wire it later today once the reduction gets delivered; schematic 3 is the idea with the SATA->8-pin reduction. All the color and wires are 1:1 how it is (going to be) in real life. I'll also add pics of my PC and the current wiring. Thanks so much for help, everything is really appreciated.

Hi there , I've got hp omen 2020 it has got integrated amd radeon graphics and nvidia gtx 1660ti, My concern is when I play fortnite my gpu utilization is 95 or 100 % which is I guess healthy...but when I play fifa 21 or doom eternal or other games my gpu utilization shows 66 or around 70 % Is it normal? Cause I read somewhere that your GPU should be utilized at least more than 90%. Thank you

Just this weekend, I received an MSI GF65 Thin 9SD-1028 from newegg. As configured: Intel i7 9750H - 2730 Cinebench r20 nvidia GTX 1660Ti Mobile (6GB GDDR6) - 5007 Furmark 8GB RAM, Samsung DDR4 3200 mHz 512GB Kingston SSD 15.6" FHD 144Hz IPS-Level (someone tell me what "level" means here) Shortly after letting Windows Update do its thing, before updating to windows 1909, I installed Valorant and ran it as I wanted to quickly test the device. (First gaming laptop, upgrading from a crappy HP i5 7200u + amd radeon 520 i had for 3.5 years) Based on 1660Ti mobile benchmarks, i expected around 150-180fps in Valorant at high settings. Frames never crossed 140, and were never stable, not even when limited to 90. MSI Afterburner's overlay showed that both cpu and gpu were under 80C at all times, and the i7 was running at its base frequency of 2590 mHz while in game. Oddly enough, the moment I'd leave the game it'd boost up to 3.7GHz or so, still staying under 90 (the cpu throttles past 95 mostly) CPUID Hardware Monitor showed a peak cpu power draw of 60w, (it has reached 72w in Cinebench r20) and GPU-z showed max GPU draw of 43w, while Furmark has made it draw more power. I have reset using MSI's factory image already, results remain the same. The system also hit BSODs multiple times while messing around in throttlestop before I reset the thing, including but not limited to: IRQL not less or equal, Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap, and, PFN List Corrupt. I reseated the RAM, and ran memtest86, no errors detected. I cannot understand this behaviour, and since the seller was based in the US (I live in the Middle East) it would be an absolute nightmare to have it returned after waiting for 3 weeks. tldr: cpu won't boost while in game, boosts happily w/out throttle outside game with game in background. Unexpectedly low FPS. I will be oh-so grateful to anyone who can help or offer any advice, will add screenshots soon.

Can I sell a 11 months old Gigabyte GTX 1660ti for $500? is the price reasonable? My reason to sell is I'll be moving out from my place so I won't get to use my pc anymore and I'm selling my whole pc. I'm planning on buying a laptop and use it from now on.

My PC is an old HP Compaq 6300 MT. It has a Q75 Express which has the PCI-e slot right below the CPU. I have a GALAX 1050Ti EXOC, I couldn't slot it in because the plastic shroud hits the CPU heatsink. So I had to unscrew the shroud from the GPU heatsink and just plopped it down on the heatsink diagonally. I couldn't even put the side panel back on because a small part of the shroud is poking out. I was considering a PCI-e riser and a vertical mount but this ancient case doesn't have a vertical slot. What can I do about it? Are there any weirdly shaped CPU coolers or some sort of magic bracket?

My Lenovo Y545 (laptop) has a GTX 1660TI, i7-9750H and 16 GB of RAM. From the past few days i have been noticing fps drops but recently I cant get any game to go above 20 fps. I looked into it and according to MSI afterburner my VRAM memory clock which is supposed to be at 6000MHz is at 810MHz. GPU temp max at 82°C and CPU temp max is at 85°C. I have tried undervolting and have used DDU twice but I was unsuccessful. I am relatively new to the PC world so I dont know what to do next could someone help me?

Hi all I want to install Tensorflow gpu on my PC (Windows 10, Ryzen 1700, GTX 1660 Ti) and for this I need to know what the compute capability is of my GPU. This should be listed here, but it seems like they forgot to list the GTX 1660 Ti. Does anyone know what its compute capability might be? Also I tried this a couple years ago (on a different GPU) and I think that by installing CuDNN, I broke my graphics drivers and I could not game anymore until I deleted CuDNN again. Does anyone have experience with this or can anyone confirm if it's possible to install CuDNN while still being able to game on the same PC? Thanks a lot!!

So, i'm noticing something not normal with my system, my i5 8600k is bottlenecking my 1660ti, but it doesn't make sense because it shouldn't be (I don´t think). I think the problem is low RAM (8gb), making so that the CPU can't keep up. I even tried OC, got it to 4.7Ghz stable, with no cooling problems, but it didn't seem to do much, so I turned it to stock. I just want some opinion on the matter. 8gb 2400 mhz CL15 i5 8600k GTX 1660ti Thanks.

was planning to upgrade my RX 570 8GB. Is RX 5700 over kill for 1080p 60fps? should I just go with 1660ti? don't really want to upgrade monitor yet to 144hz unless it's IPS since I do digital art stuffs and an IPS with 144hz is very expensive.

Hello to everyone, I am in a dilemma. I want to buy a new gpu around 270-280 euros (1080p gamer). My options are the MSI GeForce gtx Ti 6GB Ventus XS 6G OC (281,31 euros) and the ROG Strix RX VEGA 56OC edition 8GB (281 euros also). I know that the rx vega 56 will perform better in most games but I don't like the temperatures and noise that will come along (not to mention the power consumption). I also play games like World Of Warcraft which I know the Gtx 1660ti will perform better at. I want your opinion. Do I go for better performance or for better cooling and noise. Also, is it the right time to buy a new gpu? Thank you in advance. My components are: CPU: Intel Core i5-8600k Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370P D3-CF RAM: 8GB 2133 MHZ OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Hi, I recently got a gtx 1660ti and have been experiencing low frame rates. I have looked at reviews and tests done with the same gpu and cpu that I have and they were getting much higher frame rates than I am. Someone did say that it could potentially be my power supply? I'll list my specs below. I'm really not sure what to do so any help would be amazing! Gtx 1660ti Ryzen 5 1600 32gb DDR4 ram Asus B-350f motherboard Corsair VS550 psu

One of Asus’ new TUF models, FX505DU, is probably the strongest variant in its Amd + Nvidia models. It comes with a Ryzen 7 3750H and a GTX 1660ti 6GBvRam. Upon research, it seems that the AMD processor is a near equivalent of the i5-8300H. But i was wondering, wouldn’t this processor be a tad bit too weak for this strong graphics card, and cause some bottlenecking? I don’t see that much people addressing this topic so i’d like to hear your thoughts on it.

Hey I was wondering if anyone could confirm (preferably someone who actually has one) that the GTX 1660ti / 1660 has the same or more encoding bandwidth in comparison to the GTX 1080. When I say bandwidth I mean bandwidth, not performance, I am aware that the Turing NVENC chip produces a higher quality image. What I would like to know is if it can handle the same load, for example, my GTX 1080 can encode 2 4K streams at a 288M bit-rate simultaneously no sweat, while the GTX 1070 and below do not have this capability. The GTX 1080 actually has 2 NVENC engines giving it 2x the bandwidth of it's like series brethren, see NVIDIA's Encode Matrix. You'll also see that the GTX 1070 is listed to have 2 NVENC chips, but for reasons unknown to me only one of them is active, so it still remains true that the GTX 1080 has higher encoding bandwidth. It's reasons like these that I ask and not assume, NVENC chips have in the past been very tricky to judge on paper. Basically, if I could get someone to encode a high bit-rate video in something like OBS and screen shot the GPU section of task manager while doing so I would be highly appreciative. Preferably a 4K60 video at a 288M VBR (variable bit-rate) bitrate, but a 1080p60 video at a 288M VBR will still theoretically work and give me something to reference in comparison to my GTX 1080. Also worth mentioning that something has to be going on on screen to get an accurate measure, the more fast paced the game the more stress it puts on the encoder, so something like Rocket League or Apex Legends works great. Really just looking to see what percentage the "Video Encode" encode section of task manager is at while encoding one of the aforementioned streams. I consistently encode 2 4k streams simultaneously so it's important for me to know that a 1660ti / 1660 can do the same before picking one up. If it can however, they're cheaper, produce a higher quality image, and consume less power, so there would be no reason not to make the swap. PS this is for a dedicated encoding rig, so the 3D performance of the card is inconsequential.

Hi, So I was playing WoW and my screen turned black (the pc stayed on and discord kept working). Weird I thought. But then I heard the fans ramping up to max insanely quick. My gpu was at 40 degrees and I've never changed the fan settings. What could cause this? I'm using the latest driver on geforce experience. P.S: I have another post about stuff wrong about my pc (link: I don't know if the problems are relayed. Any tips would be appreciated

Hello I'm in need of advice for a PC build. My budget is 1300€ with the monitor included. I would mainly use this PC for content creation, such as photo/video/audio editing and architectural rendering and some light gaming. For heavy gaming I gave a PS4... I want it to last and be reliable. Can you please help me decide on components and advise on certain areas? Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite - 190€ ASUS TUF Gaming Plus - 215€ CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (around 300€ in my country) GPU: I am a bit torn between GTX 1660Ti and RX 5500XT and RX 5600XT I found a good deal for Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500XT 8Gb Nitro - 275€ that's a steal... RX 5600XT 6Gb is around 300-320€ PSU: Corsair TX650M/EVGA 650GQ (between 85-95€ in my country) RAM: DDR4 16GB Kit (2x8Gb) 3600MHz I was thinking about Corsair Vengeance LPX? SSD/M.2: Samsung 970 EVO 250-500Gb ( between 80-110€ in my country) Seagate Barracuda 1Tb SSD (around 120€ in my country) CASE: no clue, but I'd like a case that has a glass door and 2-3 fans. MONITOR: curved, adjustable stand, at least 27" and maximum 200€ Thanks a lot.

I recently bought the "Acer Predator Helios 300." Specs: Intel core i7-9750H, nVidia GTX 1660 ti, 16Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, 256Gb SSD. Then installed Assassin's creed Odyssey and set everything on Ultra. I had expected this outcome: The resolution: 1920x1080 This is the link to the above website. Don't know why, but I am getting this as the result: Report_2019-10-27_6-47.html Is there a problem with the hardware? Did anyone get the same result on the "Acer Predator Helios 300"?
