I was helping a friend install a new ssd in her MSI gs65 laptop and while putting it all back together I knocked the connector for the trackpad off the motherboard. For now I closed it all up and she is useing it with a mouse, but I would like to fix it if possible. I have basic experience soldering, but a couple of the pads seem to have come off the motherboard with the connector, how would I go about fixing this? Any help is appreciated, and if there is a better place to post let me know

I bought a lightly used MSI GS 65 laptop for $800. RAM: 16 GB CPU: i7-8750H (6 core) Display Size: 15.6 inch Storage Size: 512 GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q My computer use as a classroom music teacher is very heavy. So I upgraded to a second SSD (+1TB) and RAM from 16GB to 32GB total (Amazon: Crucial Ballistix 2666 MHz DDR4 DRAM Laptop Gaming Memory Kit 32GB (16GBx2) CL16 BL2K16G26C16S4B) I simultaneously run native 1080p on the laptop and HDMI extend to a 4k monitor for extra screen real estate. Running many high powered apps simultaneously: 1.Reaper DAW, with EQ, compression, reverb, etc fabfilters on dual microphones, and a midi keyboard running virtual piano, through connected audio interface. 2. Zoom 3. Xsplit broadcaster 1080 @ 30fps 4. Brave with multiple tabs open, including google spreadsheets, and youtube video. 5. Tidal music app Problem: Blue screen of Death, with multiple different codes, mostly Memory indicated. 0x000000001 often, but also randomly others. Sometimes when I used to game (cities skylines, which is very heavy RAM usage with mods) and OFTEN, every 20 - 180 minutes BSOD crashes me out. This issue never happened before I upgrade the RAM. Tried solutions: 1) Windows memory diagnostic tool: zero errors 2) Memtest86: zero errors 3) changed XMP settings from profile 2 (default 2400 mHz) to profile 1 (2666 mHz [maximum]) No difference. Since it doesn't crash right away, but once it starts crashing, it does so consistently every 20-40 minutes, sometimes quickly back to back, I am theorizing it could be thermal issues. There's a buzzing sound coming from one of the fans. I hear this is a common problem in this laptop - the glue melts and you have to open it up and scrape some away. But the thermals seem pretty good for a thin and light. Most of the edges have venting and the internal solutions seemed robust when I had opened it to conduct upgrades. Otherwise I guess I'm just running too much stuff off of 6 cores. Or the RAM is bad or somehow incompatible, even though two diagnostic tools found nothing wrong... I don't really know. It's really aggravating to interrupt class at least once per class due to crashing laptop. The entire lesson usually depends upon it. Does anybody have ideas?

Hi everyone, I have an issue with my MSI GS65 8RE laptop. About 4 months ago I one of the fans (I believe the CPU one) started revving up and down randomly. Under no load it would go up to 6k RPM while the other fans wouldn't even spin or stay at a normal 2k RPM. I tried some quick fixes like updating drivers, restarting countless times, going through BIOS settings, changing power options, disabling hibernation, uninstalling software, disabling GPU, to no avail. Finally I decided to reset windows and see if it would fix the issue but unfortunately it did not. When I first got the laptop I tweaked some settings in Throttlestop for better performance but I haven't used it since and I doubt it is related. The issue tends to pop up mostly when I turn on the laptop or wake it up from sleep, but it goes away randomly, sometimes after hours of use, other times within minutes. The fan starts spinning out of control from the second the laptop is on leading me to believe it's not a windows or even software issue. It seems like everything works fine, hardware wise, most of the time so I am not sure that the fan itself is faulty either. I am looking to sell the laptop and I am afraid that the issue would prevent me from doing so, I would ideally like to fix it before I do that. if anyone has any suggestions or clues as to why it's doing this it would be much appreciated. MSI (as usual) have been no help and I have been reluctant to send it in for repairs as the issue pops up randomly and I'm sceptical that they would be able to fix it. Please let me know if there are any logs or screenshots that I can provide to give more insight. Thanks in advance :)

I bought my MSI GS65 last December and I registered the product. Last Thursday a friend spilled coffee all over my keyboard and I thought that I was done for. After doing a little research I found about the Accidental Damage Coverage from MSI. I called MSI and apparently I do apply for the warranty, they gave me an RMA numer and I'm sending it as soon as I can. Has anyone had any experience with the accidental damage coverage from MSI? Did you have to pay anything? I'm just wondering if this is too good to be true, I can't believe that MSI covers for accidents like these...

Hello everyone!i'm new on the forum, nice to meet you! i'm searching for a new laptop for graphic design and 3d modelling work after my loyal Asus X555 started dying on me, hope you can help me! My budget is around 2000€, i'll be purchasing from France I'm looking for a thin and light 15.6" laptop, as i would be taking it with me to college very often Full HD (1920x1080) with good sRGB coverage (min 90%) 512GB of storage or more 16GB of Ram or more I mostly use the adobe suite (PS/AI/ID/XD/AE) and cinema 4d (sometimes 3ds max too) I also plan to use it for some casual gaming (say AAA rpgs like witcher, assassin creed or the upcoming cyberpunk 2077 at med-high settings with decent fps) Can last at least 4h on casual web surf / writing text on MS Word and streaming netflix on say 75% brightness i did some research on thin and light gaming laptops on my side, and managed to narrowed it more or less to the Razer blade 2019 and MSI P65/GS65 8RF , i found both at a local re seller for ≈2000€ (for the Razer blade 15 Rtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB) and 1730€ (for the P65 8rf (Gtx2070 Max-q,16GBRAM,512GB), but i read some pretty terrible thing about both on reddit and such (poor build quality for the msi, and poor QC that may lead to random failure and pretty high temps for the razer).i would be really grateful if you helped me choose between the two or if you can suggest to me another recommandations that would fit my needsThanks!

Hey guys, So for the last entire week, i've been thinking to buy MSI GS65 with GTX 1070 Max-Q on it because it has the best value than other thin and light gaming laptops like Razer Blade 15 (which is overpriced), Gigabyte Aero 15X (which is rare to find in Indonesia), and ASUS Zephyrus (the battery life is just horrendous). I'll probably but it this summer and hope the newer laptops can bring this laptop's price down. And if you think there are better laptops than GS65 for my needs (which i'll put below this) just give me a shout. My needs: - Must have at least GTX 1060 in it - CPU is at least an i7 (U-series or H-is not really matter even though i prefer H) - 16 GB of RAM - The accuracy of the display is at least 90% sRGB for video editing or photo editing (not really care about Adobe RGB), not really care about the refresh rate because i prefer quality than quantity - Less than 2kg (that's 4.4 pounds for Americans / British) - Have Thunderbolt 3 - Thin display bezels - Good build overall - Can be seen in under the Sun (Not a primary needs / just my niche) And i'll link my previous forum about searching my new laptop;

Hi everyone, I've recently bought an MSI GS65 se (rtx2060). Very pleased with it so far! getting pretty decent FPS @ 1920x1080 resolution with very high settings with the integrated display. I am back to PC gaming after a few years on consoles, so still catching up with all of the changes and advancements... I want to buy an external display and was wondering if anyone had any experience with driving QHD (2560x1440) displays with this setup or with an equivalent gaming laptop. I've seen the FPS benchmarks and it looks like the most GPU intense games will demand lowering some settings to keep the FPS smooth at 60, even more so if I want to hit higher FPS... From what I understand, playing at 1920 on a 2560 display is not advised, so my options are- 1. Get a 144hz 1920x1080 display 2. Get a 144hz 2560x1440 display and probably lower settings dramatically 3. Get a 60hz 2560x1440 display I'll appreciate any thoughts or first hand experience with this - have you tried driving a QHD display with this setup? what is/would be your preference and why? is it really that bad to run a QHD display at FHD given the trade-ff required? Thanks!

hey guys, i have a MSI gs65 8SE, the 2019 RTX 2060 model, When i first bought it have been having this issue but when on battery power it keeps crashing/lagging very hard, also the battery life sometimes isnt that good ~4 hours, only when the GPU indicator is suck on the dGPU Should i just RMA it? i have reset it so many times, only have league and Apex installed as this is just my spare laptop and have a gaming desktop, i finally cracked it when it crashed on me when i was at university, super sick of this laptop. ive installed every update possible, (havnt tried bios yet, but i doubt it as no one else seems to have this issue). - it would only crash on battery power, word document/ 2 chrome tabs - error code would vary sometimes, usually tdr_video_failure Would love suggestions and tips, Thanks guys.

I have an MSI GS65 with 250GB for almost 6 months...(got with the lower storage because I was needing). and I need to make an SSD upgrade. Searching I found that I can do SSD raid 0 using the Samsung EVO 970 500GB but due to the fact that it increases the chance of corrupted data and I don't think that the motherboard can support that speed. Because of that, I decided to go for a single SSD 970 of 1TB but I also don't know if the motherboard can handle speeds of 3400mb/s read and 2500mb/s write. Motherboard: MS-16Q2

Hello everyone, I will list my requirements before writing a wad of text: GPU: Would highly prefer a 1070 in there Weight: Under 2.5 kg Screen size: 15' (unless there's a 17 inch that weighs less than 2.5 kg) Battery: While I'd love to purchase the Aero 15x for the remarkable 94 Whr battery I've seen a lot of bad reviews so I'm holding off on it - Any battery that can last at least 4 hours during surfing or movies is fine. Purpose for the laptop: Heavy gaming during travelling between work and countries, secondary pc for streaming, for my mum to use while I'm not using it (She's getting into photography so color gamut is important) Budget: Under £2500 Now my reasons for wanting a laptop and why I need your help: I have read for the past couple weeks a lot of information on laptops that I think I want, but then when I look at people's opinions or reviews I see different opinions and facts coming off from it. It is very difficult to discern personal judgement (possibly biased, either due to being given the unit for free to review and keep or idiotic fanboys and that make no real evidence as to their dislikes on a product) from actual facts that make the laptop better or worse than another. Also I think LTT's videos on laptops are pretty subpar and don't contain enough information to really form a valid opinion (not enough benchmarks and real life heat exposure to make it valuable to me) However, I do need a laptop as my life is becoming more about travelling around work and utilizing somewhat powerful applications when programming. I'm a heavy gamer and already have a pretty decent PC with a 1080Ti on there, but I would like some of that power to be mobile as well. I really like the thin and lite gaming laptops coming out like the GS65, Aero 15x and GM501 but they all each have people's feedback basically shitting on it so I don't know what to do lol. Any help and suggestions round these laptops would be amazing, I'd love to buy a laptop next week or so and this will influence my buying options. Regards, Digition Flux

I just recently got a gs65 and it seems to be reading so I temperatures normally but when I launch a game, in a less than a second the temperature spikes. Sometimes going from normal workloads to gaming it can go from around 60° to 90° and back down once I exit in less than a second. I know it's not actually that hot because the computer doesn't feel hot and temperatures don't change that quickly. I'm only worried about it because it seems to throttle my coy and make the fans run really high. I was wondering if anybody else had this problem and if they new how to fix it. Thanks!

After many days of looking at different laptops and figuring out which one would be best for me I ended up picking the MSI GS65. I ordered it from iBUYPOWER because they offered the specific configuration I wanted at the cheapest price. Something eventually led me to seeing reviews of the company and all I can see is nothing but negativity. There's everything from people getting incorrect parts to constant BSODs to terrible customer service. So I'm wondering: Did I make a mistake by ordering from iBUYPOWER? It hasn't shipped yet so I should be able to cancel the order at no charge. But if what I heard about customer service is true that will be difficult. If that's the case, can anyone recommend another seller that offers configurations of the MSI GS65?

So I bought a MSI GS63VR from amazon and a few days later, MSI released a newer version of the laptop, the GS65. (Worst. Timing. Ever.) So I need your opinions on this, is the performance increase worth it for me to return the GS63VR and get the GS65 instead? FYI, i bought the GS63 for 2,157.58 with shipping while the GS65 costs 2,657.00 with shipping, and the GS63VR that I bought has a 1070 in it And if this helps, i'm planning to use the laptop for mainly streaming + gaming without using a 2nd pc for streaming, doing app development (including running Linux VMs) and doing artwork (with GPU acceleration)

m gonna buy a laptop for the first time in 10 years since im going back to school. After I have done a ton of research I finally landed on the new msi GS65 with gtx 1070 cause of the portabilty and the gpu. But after watching and reading reviews, I have noticed that it throttels and I know the diffrent reasons why. After watching a youtube changing thermal paste Im sure this will eass or stop the throtterling! So instead of buying it from bestbuy, pop it open, take out the mobo, switch paste myself. I want a pro to do it. And gentechpc does it. But I do not know which of the thermal pastes/LM I need or should pay for. Can anyone help me here?
