So, in a couple of weeks I am upgrading from my old S5 -- and thank god for that. The Snapdragon 801 inside has aged quite badly, with slowdowns constant with newer apps. My choices were down to three models at Verizon: the Kyocera DualForce (Which I ruled out due to my personal distaste for the phone and its lack of power), the Motorola Z Play DROID Edition, and the BlackBerry Priv. Specs you can find anywhere of course, but due to the phones using different Snapdragon lines the comparisons are a little fuzzy. What is better, the 808 or 625? I'd like some opinions and recommendations on the two, to help me pick. If you choose to add your thoughts on the two, please do not bring up price or MotoMods: they cost the same where I am and the Mods are useless in my "case" (*rimshot*). Build quality alone is also not something to point out: I know about the Priv's bendy back, but both phones have quality on a whole other plane of existence compared to my S5, who's cheap plastic is chipping like crazy at this point. Fingerprint Sensors also don't matter, as I don't use them. Either phone will be equipped with a case from Incipio for protection. What I've noticed so far: The Priv has a physical keyboard and many software additions, but suffers from a 2MP front camera. The Moto has great build quality and an excellent camera, but has very few accessories for such a mainstream phone and doesn't pack very good speakers. Tasks that I do include regular gaming (Not too intensive, Clash Royale, Uno, a couple indie driving sims), regular video watching, and regular browsing. I think the most tabs I have ever had open in my browser was 40 in Opera Mini. Can anyone help me out? I absolutely love the Priv's design, but if performance is really bad, of course I'll live with a Moto. Thanks in advance!

Okay, Hello everyone. Recently I've flashed a custom rom (this one) on my Galaxy S5 (G900F). Everything works fine (except swiftkey for some reason), but when i try to make a phone call it just ends it and then its like nothing happened. You can see from the video what happens with in the status bar. I've tried wiping cache, I checked the block list, I've tried downloading another app from calls/messaging, I've tried another dial app and it doesnt help. Messages work fine tho, and it seems im the only one with this problem. I wish it would get resolved as i really like this one and dont find CM or Lineage as nice Little bit of an earrape at the end so turn your volume down

How do i unlock this phone? I bought this phone from somebody who said that it was unlocked. When I put my sim card in it, it asks for a "SIM network unlock PIN". Is this normal for an unlocked phone? If so, how do i get this unlock pin? The phone is originally an ATT phone, so i went through their network unlock claim service and they said that this phone wasn't eligible because its device payments had not been fully payed off. Isn't there a tool I can use on my computer and unlock the phone via usb like when you root a phone?

This may not be the right section for the type of problem i have, but whatever, its a display problem anyways. So, recently i traded one of my subwoofers for a friends S5 that had shattered both - the digitizer and the amoled display thingy itself. As the displays are pretty cheap on ebay and aliexpress, i had an idea to order one from there, but almost all that i see have the words LCD, not AMOLED, cause originally this phone came with an amoled screen ofc. If it is actually an LCD not a amoled screen, will it still work on the phone ?

My dad is going to gift my mother a new smartphone next month. He is looking for a significant upgrade. Her S5 is running slow, so it needs to be something fast. Nothing fancy, with quadtrouple cameras, dual sim or 4k display is needed. Something Slim, fast and affordable. She defenetly wants her to stick with android, so no Apple. His Budget is around 300-400 Euros. Please recommend everything. Thanks folks!

So, I'm not big in the mobile department, but I recently had my phone ran over... -and I was wondering what exactly I need to replace. The problem is that the screen is completely black. I took a look around for places that could repair it, but any place is ridiculously over-priced*. So I thought that if I couldn't find any local techies to do the job for me, and push came to shove, I would do it myself. The touch input seems to be working (as I was able to power down my phone without pulling the battery), and the buttons are working. As I am aware: the digitizer is in charge of taking touch input, and sending it to the system the polarized screen changes the way the light comes out so that it can be seen correctly and the LCD screen is the thing that produces the light I couldn't find any LCD screens to order, so I was hoping either I could be corrected in my understanding, or sent to the right place to purchase what I need. *Seriously who would pay $124 to replace the back cover?

As you all know, New Years just happened and I was celebrating with my family. I also currently have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (Original). Once it turned midnight, I go on my phone to check if it was actually midnight, but it turns out that my decided to glitch out and say "An error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device.". It also asks me for my password as that could also get into my phone, and I though that it would only happen once. 30 minutes later, and it's still happening, I thought it was a minor bug and it would fix it's self. 8 hours later (The time I'm posting this), it's still not working. Maybe I will try restarting. Welp, it finally works, anyone have any idea why it does this? The S5 isn't a potato phone.

Hey guys, I'm currently looking to update my Samsung Galaxy S5 that I've had for a few years. However, the reason why I've held on to it for so long is that it's one of the few phones I've seen that has an infrared LED built into it. This feature has been a great help over the years for my various robotic projects, as I can use it as a universal remote control. The problem is, it's starting to get old; the battery is dying, it overheats, it crashes frequently, I'd like to update to the most recent android version and be able to watch full hd videos without my hands melting. And so, I'm looking for a new, modern phone that has IR emission available. Thanks for your advice.

I currently own a Galaxy S3 (GS3) with Virgin Mobile (VM). VM coverage is on the Sprint network using CDMA, The ONLY phones that VM accepts (allows) on their network are phones that VM provides, they have the main stream phones like the GS7 (For $650), they also carry the newest iPhones as well. Plans transfer over to new phones for free, and I am currently paying $35 for unlimited talk, text, and data (First 2gb is high speed data, then its puts rest of data on the wood network, buts its still free). This is a VERY good plan as I got it over 8 years ago, and never stopped it. It used to be $30 but was increased to $35 about 2 years ago due to taxes/inflation. (No contract, VM only does prepay per month). I was really hoping to buy a OnePlus 3 (For $399), but I would have to switch to T-mobile or At&t, and their plans start at $50, and have extra fees if you use too much data. With those numbers I would be making my money back after 16 months of continuous service, and I plan to have me new phone for longer than that. I'v been using my S3 for about 3 years now. TL-DR; Are there any other coverage providers other than T-mobile or At&t that can provide anything close to my current plan ($35 a month unlimited everything)? Or should I just pay the big $650 and use my phone for a year and a half/more?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to replace my Galaxy S5 that I've had since 2014, and was wondering what's good on the market atm? I was actually looking around, and I came across the OnePlusThree? I'm not entirely too sure how carriers all work, but it would be possible to just buy this phone, and use my existing SIM correct? (I'm on T-Mobile btw) I'm not looking to spend anymore than 400$, and was wondering if anyone else had suggestions. Thank you all in advance!

I'm thinking of factory resetting my Verizon Galaxy S5 to try to remedy some performance issues and I can't figure out if my text message history is stored on my phone or on Verizon's cloud. I'd rather not lose it. If anyone knows where it's stored and if it is stored on my device, how to restore it once I reset that would be great.

I currently have a s4. It lags sometimes and has a cracked screen. Looking to upgrade. Thought of the G3 but worried abt battery life. Z3 is waterproof and has front facing speakers. M8 = boomsound but big size. S5 is decent but i dont particularly enjoy the design. I COULD consider an s6 second hand since it only costs abt $150 more than g3 or s5. Opinions?

So the S5's heartbeat scanner isn't s5 exclusive. All you need to do to get this feature on your phone is download one of the heartbeat reading apps from the Apple App Store or Google play store. And all the app needs is only a camera with flash All you need to do is place your finger gently over the camera and click the start button. It works pretty well too as far as I can see SOURCE: http://9to5mac.com/2014/02/25/jealous-of-s5-heart-rate-monitor-your-iphone-can-already-measure-your-heart-rate-with-these-apps/

Ok so, i'm going to be getting a new phone very soon as i just got confirmation that my LG G2 was not able to get fixed or replaced and now have a $500 store credit. I would consider myself a normal user, i barely play games if i were to play games it'd be something simple like "Dont Tap The White Tile" but i'm occasionally on facebook, snapchat and texting, etc. After a full day of hard use my LG G2 would be at 20/35% by the time i get home which is around 4pm. I did my research on these phones and honestly i'm having troubles deciding, apparently the Galaxy S5 has a better colour on the screen, but the Xperia Z2 has an extra 1GB of RAM, then the Xperia Z2 has a bigger battery which also makes it heavier, then its got the front facing speakers which is a good plus. I honestly don't know what to go for... please help me, ive also looked at the LG G3 which is a great phone a 5.5" is a turn off for me The website i'm looking at is http://www.kogan.com.au if you see something else on there website that you have had experience with or think will be good for me, let me know also it'd be great if you could tell me why you its better than my other options.

I know that the Nexus 5 is the fastest phone on the market with (2.3 GHz Quad-Core (Snapdragon 800) CPU, Krait 400). (Wikipedia : Comparison of Smartphones ) The LG G2 is the 2nd fastest phone on the market with (2.26 GHz Quad-Core (Snapdragon 800) CPU, Krait 400).. I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 'SPH-L710', with (1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4), but I want to get the best phone when we upgrade our phones. Does anyone know if Samsung is going to be announcing the Samsung Galaxy S5 supposedly Monday, February 24th 2014. 8:00PM CET, 2:00PM EST. Does anyone know if any of the new phones will have a Qualcomm SnapDragon 805 processor in it, or Exynos 6 All 5 of us in our house are gonna be upgrading our phones, from Galaxy S3 SPH-L710, to Samsung Galaxy 5. But if the phone isn't what I expect it to be, I'll just switch to a Nexus 5 in March or April, when we upgrade our phones. But it only says Snapdragon 800 with 2.5Ghz Quad Core.. So looks like Samsung isn't coming in swinging. Idk.. I'd really hope that they would of had the Snapdragon 805. What do you think abut it? Is it a good follow up? What do you think about it's camera, software, hardware? Also, what do you think about the new gear devices? IMO, the phone looks awesome( dat sexy chrome gold ) and I d love to own it The only thing that I would "dislike" about it it's that it has "only" a fullhd screen

The render is based on leaked information concerning the hardware but also the software of the device. It features an aluminum body, transparent TouchWiz on top of Android, the now familiar faux leather on the back and more. First off the device has a bigger display and even slimmer bezels, based on the claims of the Galaxy S5 having a 5.25″ screen. The panel will, supposedly, have a 1440 x 2560 (2K) resolution. The screen should be covered with Gorilla Glass 3, while the UI underneath should be the brand new, tile-friendly TouchWiz UI on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. The camera is taunted as a 20 MP unit although we’ve heard reports of a 16 MP ISOCELL unit. The battery could sport a capacity of 2900 mAh with rapid charging tech. well, IMO, it's nice to see that leather back, let's just hope that this time it's going to pe actual leather even if... I wouldn't actually like if the finished design would look like this. let's just hope that it will look a litle better in the real world Source

So, quite recently, I got the Samsung Galaxy S5 after my valiant S2 died after years of service (lest we forget), and I felt like sharing random stuff with you people about it. Basic Overview: I got the 16GB model with 4G, this comes with a Quad Core processor at 2.5GHZ, and the Snapdragon 801 chipset, and with 2GB of RAM. I cried because this phone is faster than my Surface... Anyway, the phone is IP67 Water Resistant, and comes with a 1080x1920 Super AMOLED screen. And, I got a 64GB microsd card from Kogan to put in it. woop woop Aesthetics and Build Quality: The phone is quite nice to look at, with the odd perforated back, which I have a love/hate relationship with, it's nice and grippy to hold, but horrible looking. The phone is built very solidly, however, the back falls off quite easily when dropped, which breaks the rubber seal that makes it water resistant. The phone has a chromey plastic around the sides, which a flap on the bottom covering the microUSB 3.0 port. Buttons/Ports/Connectivity: The phone has a volume rocker on the right and a lock/power button on the right, both of which are very clicky, it has a home button on the front of the phone, at the bottom, which Samsung has become known for, to the left of the home button, there is a multitasking button, which has replaced the menu button, but if you hold it down it still acts as a menu button, and to the right of the home button, a back button, which does what you expect. Both the back and multitasking buttons are backlit and are on the touch screen, and not physical. The phone has a microUSB 3.0 port on the bottom, but for some unknown reason, Samsung only provides a microUSB 2.0 cable in the box. There is an audio port at the top, and Samsung provides some excellent in-ear headphones with the phone as well. The phone has a STUPID ***** BUCKET FULL OF ****** ON THE ********* BACK *****.. Yes, I meant the phone has a speaker on the back. OH MY GOD SAMSUNG GOD DAMN IT PUT IT IN USEFUL PLACE ARGGHGHHGHGHGHG! The phone has an IR blaster on the top, and the smart remote app does work, and the heart beat sensor is right under the camera, but it's a bit iffy. Internet/4G/Call Quality: The phone has excellent reception, with crystal clear audio when in a call, the wi-fi works fine, but is a bit slow for my tastes, the 4G however... GOD DAMN THAT IS FAST. Everyday Usage: TouchWiz WAS horrible, but they've toned it down alot now, and with enough settings done... like DISABLING MY MAGAZINE DEAR GOD DOES ANYONE USE THAT CRAP!? It provides quite a nice android experience, and is very zippy. Android 4.4.2 KitKat still has Holo Blue, which I hate, even though they said that they'd remove it... oh well. The keyboard that comes with the phone... god damn. It's amazing, with the dedicated number row, and always registers correctly, and comes with Swype functionality, but I STILL DOWNLOADED SWIFTKEY LEL. The phone has a 2800MaH battery, and lasts for a good 2-3 days with normal usage, and probably 1 day with POWER USAAAGE. The screen on this phone... oh... oh yees.... words can not explain how good it is, it may not be 4K like the LG G3, but god damn, this screen just POPS, the screen has great color depth, and is crystal clear, and you can view it at any angle, and the brightness only needs to be at about halfway even in direct sunlight, but at full brightness.... DEAR GOD, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE AT FULL BRIGHTNESS. The heart rate sensor does work, but you need to be very still, and it's quite useless to me. The fingerprint reader is a two edged sword, when it works, it works pretty damn well, but when it doesn't... GOD DAMN IT PHONE RECOGNIZE MY FINGER! This can usually be rectified with a damp cloth though, and just a slight wipe then dry on the screen. Oh yeah, it is actually waterproof, very waterproof, i'm completely confident swimming with this phone. Camera: Amazing, just freaking amazing, this phone's camera is 16 Megapixels, and can shoot videos in 4K, and my god, the pictures it takes are AMAZING, and the selective focus works 90% of the time, and comes out beautifully, so this camera is extremely recommended, and proves you don't need some weird 41MP camera on some Windows Phone. Good Phone, 10/10 would steal again.
