Is there any point overclocking FX-8300 with Asus M5A97 r2.0 .. was trying get some more perfomanc and Ghz boost but it was unstable .. not stock cooler .. maybe i has a bad sillicon cause Fx-4300 was working at 4.6Ghz .. thx

I am going from a fx-4300 to an fx-8300, however, I want to try and sqeeze a little bit more juice out of the processor. The mother board I have currently is a ga 78lmt-s2, which is definitely suitable for overclocking. My question is thus what is a good budget board that I can pair with that chip to get some good results?

What overclocking potential would I be looking on a fx-8300 using at evo 212 on a asus uatx with the 760g chipset?

Fractal design define r5 3x be quiet pure wings 2 140mm 7volt (tomorrow im gonna hook them up to my nzxt zentry 2 fan controller, since my mb with my old 4 pin fans couldn't get lower than 650 rpm= not being able to run them at any of the rated rpm that was down to 200-300 and up to 1200rpm,at 5 volt my new be quiet 3pin fans are quiet,atm i use the case fan controller rated at 5,7 and 12 volt) Asus pro 970 gaming/aura, a fx 8300 at 4.2ghz and a Noctua Nh-d15 standard rpm (ai suite 3) is with high voltage idle 1.368-1.380 and load 1.332 volt (140-150watt) around 500 rpm and is quiet and load (prime 95 small fft) is around 900-100 rpm not loud but noticeable,but it's only at max load so i won't reach that speed,noise under 100%, unless it's summer My limited is 4.2ghz, not because of my cpu or mb, but because of temps Because i want to run at 4.3,4,4 or 4.5ghz (felt 4.2ghz made a difference compared to 4.1ghz in games) i would like to have some surgestions for a serious cooling for my fx 8300,i do run it with no power saving enabled so it's power all the time on all cores I can afford to buy a corsair h100 but the stock fans are to loud and it would cost me atleast 40€ morefor better more quiet fans (live in denmark) and that is over my limited I would like to have the top closed and either use a 240mm in the front (don't use the bottom drive cage) and use one of the 2 be quiet fans at the bottom if theres space for the fan, depending on the thickness of the fan and radiator Last options i might consider as the best option is a 140mm aio, could be something from Alphacool or mabye Swiftech (or what you surgest), with 1 or 2 fans inside of my case, 2 fans of course in push pull configuration like the alphacool eisbear 120 and use the rear exhaust fan in the bottom closest to the lower front fan as a exhaust fan (no space under my gpu since i have a long evga supernova 1000p2 psu) What would you surgest med to look at? my limited is 120€ (the price of a corsair h100 in denmark) and im NOT look for something that sounds like a hair dryer on speed

Hi guys, I've got an FX-8300 (3.3 GHz) to OC. I've got a stock cooler, 500W PSU, a 78LMT-USB3 R2 motherboard (for FX and socket AM3+) and 8GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz. Questions: - Should I get a new cooler like cool master hyper evo 212 or is the stock cooler fine? - Is OCing it from 3.3 GHz to 4.0 GHz a good move for my hardware? - I've never OC'd so is it safe (will the PC last at least 2 years) - Do you guys turn off the OC whilst not playing games, or leave it on all the time and when you get off the PC, you shut the PC down? Sorry for a bunch of questions, thanks a lot in advance!

Hi guys, I've got an FX-8300 (3.3 GHz) to OC. I'm getting a cooler master hyper 212 evo, 500W PSU bronze rated, a 78LMT-USB3 R2 motherboard (for FX and socket AM3+) and 8GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz. I haven't got the cooler yet, but if there is another budget cooler that's better, I am welcome to recommendations. I am posting this thread in preparation if that is ok. I don't want to overdo it, maybe a max of 4.0 GHz really, but if I can't reach that, what core multiplier and voltage do you recommend? I am new to overclocking, so I'm not too sure yet. Thanks!

i saw a video on yt that helps on the fps on some games and i saw that if you are using all the cores it would have a better performence but after doing it and seen that my performance was worst i get back to only one core and now am seeing some errors that it cause on the windows like the clock now have a square on the middle the Letter font is changed to worst i would like to know if have a way to fix it without re installing windows (thats the only way i found on a lot of sites that show how to get windows to the fabric state) ps:am using windows 10

Hi all, new to these forums, and planning my first build. So, should I get and AMD FX-8350 (4ghz stock) for 220$ or an FX-8300 (3.3ghz stock) and attempt to over clock it to the 8350's speed? if that's at all possible on a 212 evo. The FX-8300 is a full 60$ cheaper. I plan on going with the Vishera line for the 8 cores, as I do lots of video and picture editing, 3d rendering etc. And I'm on a tight budget : )

Hello! I need some help with my prebuilt system (Don't hate me) I don't know if my specs matter but i have an ASUS M51BC computer. I want to overclock my CPU (FX-8300) but i'm afraid that my PC is going to get too hot, or that i simply don't have a good enough PSU. So I was looking to upgrade my CPU soon, as the one I have currently (FX-4300 @ 4Ghz) is kinda holding me back. I'm an AMD guy so I've been looking at The FX-8350 and Ryzen 5. Here are the pros and cons for both: FX-8350 Pros: Won't need new mobo Won't need new RAM Familiar with current mobo's BIOS Good experience with FX processors and overclocking them. 2x the Amount of cores and threads. Cons: Still AM3+ Still DDR3 Getting slightly old. May need new cooler if I get the CPU only deal. (This only applies if I have to buy it instead of getting it for Christmas.) Ryzen 5 Pros AM4 So better performance More L1 and L2 cache. Would upgrade to DDR4 Comes with Wraith Cooler Newest Processor around from AMD Cons: A bit more expensive. Need to buy DDR4 which is still expensive. Need AM4 mobo, which again is expensive. I'd have to completely disassemble My PC to get the mobo out. Not sure if AM4 is as reliable as good old AM3+ is. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm Really tight on budget so the max I could spend is $400-$500. Any thoughts?
