  1. Hey guys, This is my first attempt to ever build a computer. I’ve upgraded basic stuff on my pre-build before but i’ve decided to take a jump into building my own pc. I’m looking to build a gaming/editing hybrid pc. I’ve done some research but my knowledge is pretty minimal in terms of building so i’m hoping someone can check my work and see if there is any potential issues with my planned build CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X MB: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite ATX AM4 (or other options?) GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 2070 Super (White) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower PSU: Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold ATX Fully Modular (or other options?) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB (2x16gb) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 1TB M.2 2280 NVME SSD (or other options?) Cooling: NZXT Kraken X63 98.17 CFM Monitor: LG 34GK950F Ultrawide (3440x1440p @ 144hz) I think i’m pretty set on the CPU/GPU, but i’m open to options for the Motherboard, PSU, Storage and Cooling. I’ll probably get a mechanical hard drive at a later point so exclude that. Thanks for your help!!
  2. I'm a first-time builder looking for advice and opinions on the parts I've chosen. I'm currently working on building a desktop PC that will primarily be used for gaming, live-streaming, and video editing. I want to be able to live-stream at 1080p at 60fps while making full use of programs, and plan to edit video footage starting at 1080p but potentially moving up in resolution in the future to as much as 4k. I also want to have the capability to do 3D modeling and design work in the future, as that's something I have interest in doing. I have two old office-type 1080p monitors at the moment, but I'd like to upgrade one of them in the future to a higher-refresh 1440p or above monitor. My total budget for this build is about $1,300 USD; this is about the highest I can justify going at the moment. My ideal aesthetic is monochrome black and white with few highlights. I believe I've covered everything I'll need below, but if there may be cables or items I haven't considered. I'm really just looking to make sure everything I have will go together well and work before I buy. As I don't yet have the experience to know a lot of this stuff on my own, I'm hoping to find help here. If anyone has revisions they think would be more optimal for my core parts or information I might not know, please let me know! Any help would be appreciated. ? Here's what I have so far (pcpartpicker list here): For my CPU, I've chosen the Ryzen 7 3700X. From my research, it seems to provide more than enough power for anything I'd regularly throw at it while still having enough in reserve for multitasking and running future programs. It's a recent and very well-rounded chip that lies at the threshold of my budget. CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X (~$300 US) For my CPU cooler, I chose one that got fair ratings for the price point and matches a black and white aesthetic. I think it should be able to handle the 3700X's 65 watt TDP. ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler (~$50 US) I wanted a graphics card that would be able to handle most loads very well but not destroy my bank account. For a moderate price and good looking specs on paper, I chose to get a variant of the GTX 1660 Super. GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB DUAL EVO OC (~$240 US) I figure 16 GB of DDR4 RAM should be enough for now, and that's an easy upgrade if I ever feel I need 32. I've picked out a well-priced kit with a sleek look. The only thing that gives me slight pause is the lack of reviews for this product, so any opinions on this choice would be appreciated. Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory (~$95 US) Since I'm going into content creation, I know I'll have to work with a lot of large programs and heavy files. I've chosen a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 NVME drive to act as a boot drive and to store programs and frequented files. I'm also going to add a large hard drive for storing files I'm not currently working on. I'll add extra storage and backup drives if my plans work as intended, but can't afford to purchase them now. Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (~$90 US) Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (~$90 US) Knowing what I want to put on it, I chose my motherboard. I'm not very experienced at picking these, but I wanted to choose one with future upgrades in mind. Due to that, I thought it would be best to go with an X570 board. I also wanted one with a mostly black and white aesthetic and without too much RGB or colored highlighting. I thought that this Asus board would fit well. Asus PRIME X570-P ATX AM4 Motherboard (~$145 US) Since I'd found myself favoring a black and white clean aesthetic, I wanted my case to conform to that as well. I also wanted one with solid airflow and sleek design that could make a statement but not be obnoxious whilst sitting on my desk. The Fractal Design Meshify C in white ticked all of those boxes. Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case (~$90 US) As for my power supply, I wanted something at least semi-modular but not too pricey, since my build was beginning to stress the budget I had set forth. I chose this one, which seemed to be a good deal, but I'm not sure how ideal it is for this build. I think this is the one item I'm most likely to change out if a better option is found. EVGA BQ 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (~$85 US) Add on a Windows 10 key (~$100 US) and a tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (~$8 US). In total, the build is looking to cost me approximately $1,282 before any sales tax. This is right about the threshold of my budget, and I don't think I can justify going any further at the moment without good reason. With that said, please don't hesitate to tell me if there's anything I'm missing here. Also, please let me know if there are any obvious ways to save money that I may have missed. I'll shop around for bargains once my parts list is finalized. Cheers!
  3. Greetings, I want to build my first pc from the ground up. I already did some modifications to a previous all in one, but now I want to try and assemble one myself. I already have a decent GPU and storage components. I choose some Corsair DDR4 3200Mhz RAM because of one of the videos of LTT where they showed off that Ryzen 3rd Gen is dependent on good memory clock speed and latency (?). Sadly I am not quite sure whether the parts I choose really fit together. I believe that the CPU and Mainboard should be fine (x570 is for Ryzen 3rd Gen and AM4 socket), but mainly I am not sure whether the case's front IO and the mainboard pins (or connectors?) fit together and whether the PSU has all the power cables that I would need. The budget I have for these parts (CPU, mainboard, PSU, Case) is around +-900$ USD. Also I'm not sure if I need extra fans and if yes how many? https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3900x-Cache-Wraith/dp/B07SXMZLP9 (its price fluctuates a lot between 500 and 600 USD) https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-RM850x-Certified-Modular-Supply/dp/B079H5WNXN/ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M35FI12 (that one is available in my local country store for ~70$, not on the .com one though?) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T8HJVY8/ (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07T8HJVY8/ local one has more info) All these parts are not finally chosen or anything from me and I would be very happy about suggestions about which components I should choose, whether they work together well. Thanks in advance! (Disclaimer: Sorry if it is bad/weird to read or something, not a native speaker)
  4. Hey everyone... I'm Yoga and I just finished my studies... currently trying to build my own PC but I'm kind of stumped when it comes to cases, fans, PSU and the whole lot. I'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The prices for pc parts are extremely high and I'm trying to build something within my means. That being said I'm looking to build an Intel system with i7-9700k paired with a MSI GTX 1660 ti Gaming X. Planning to use the rig for gaming only and maybe streaming in the distant future. Please do suggest a set up that would work... thank you. Below is something I came up with could any1 complete the rig or help suggest something different all together?
  5. Hi all. I am looking to build my first gaming PC and wanted you feedback on the selected part. Will be buying components mainly from Finland or Amazon.de. I am looking for good performance in an affordable price ( apprx. 900 EUR). Ideally will be using a 1080p monitor. Do let me know your thoughts on this build. 6. Im in search for a monitor for my first build, I want it to be a nice monitor but not too extreme, I don't need 4k but 1080p would be great, needs to be cost efficient and look sleek but I have no clue what I'm looking at when I search for them. if you need any more information please reply and ill get back to you asap! thank you!
  7. Hey guys! So I have been planning to build my first gaming pc, and have so far decided on this build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tbbhHx . Now I would like some of your opinions and confirmation on if this build is solid enough to run games like skyrim in high settings. I'm also trying to make this future-proof so I can move on to other games. Yes I am planning to overclock the cpu. Would love to receive some opinion of this, Thanks! Edit: Here is my new build(not really much as changed): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hcn6Hx Edit(2): Changed it again, the water cooler changed to kraken x61, the af140 is for the top case fan as intake, the bled fan is my only exhaust, the rad fans are going to be in pull config as intake, so does this work? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/F2sKrH Edit(3): I realised that I did not need an ssd with 250GB(a little too much) and the motherboard is now MSI PC Mate: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qpr96h I am planning to order the parts in about a month or 2. At most probably it would be at January next year. Thank you guys so much for you help.
  8. Hey all, so tomorrow i'm going to order the parts for my first ever build. I't should run games like League,Dota (maybe Csgo?) in 60fps at 1080p. This is the build that i'm considering to get, could i get something better for the price? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WPNpYJ Budget= 360$/310€ Extra: I live in Estonia (EU). Don't need to buy windows. I'f somebody knows how to transfer a laptop's hdd&ram onto a new system then that would be great.
  9. Hello, good people of the LTT Forums. I am here to ask about my friend's first PC build. I would like to receive your input and, quite possibly, your criticism on my friend's pick on the parts that he's going to build. Here are the parts: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ykz8Yr Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ykz8Yr/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor ($110.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI H110M Pro-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($55.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Kingston 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($31.89 @ OutletPC) Storage: Transcend SSD370 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($53.49 @ B&H) Power Supply: Silverstone ST50F-ESB 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($55.99 @ NCIX US) GPU: Asus GTX 950 OC 2GB DDR5 ($149.99 @ Amazon) Total: $458.34 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-07-22 21:32 EDT-0400 ~~Case is undecided. His budget is roughly about PHP25,000 which is US$530. He can raise his budget if needed... like about $40 for the case. Please remember that retailers here have limited parts (some parts are not available) and we don't have the luxury of ordering online (shipping here is a pain). Also, if you're going to give suggestions, give the US price some headroom because prices here in the Philippines are a little more expensive. If I'm going to use the prices here in our local computer stores, the total price of the parts is already around PHP 25,000-26,000. That's a $70 to $95 difference between the US total price and the Philippine total price. He also wants to know the advantages of the 6th Gen processors over his initial pick which is a 4th Gen processor (i3-4170), and the difference between DDR4 and DDR3. He wants to buy and build it tomorrow, and only tomorrow. He doesn't have much time due to college stuff, myself included. All he wants from his PC is a good-enough performance on games and a future-proof build. Is this build good enough?
  10. Hey LTT forums first timing young person here I have a network in my home that basically goes Dsl>Modem/Router>desktop switch>rj45 wall ethernet>Hills home hub> and I'm unsure where to go from there I've had it working at one stage but was basically trial and error screwing around not knowing what I'm doing so it's no longer working it used to go hub>router/modem (with it set to act as a switch)>hub>different wall rj45>10 meter cable to PC and work now it doesn't. Currently I've been trying every configuration I can think of bought two switches have tons of ether net cables left and I'm just dumbfounded. When I run the cable to the pc it says there's no cable plugged in when it's connected to a desktop switch and then to the pc the ether net ports led slowly blinks and I'm not sure what to do If you'd like photos I'll provide anything you need.
  11. I live in the United States and I'm picking parts to build my first Gaming PC. I want to keep my budget around $850 USD including an OS. I only plan on using one monitor for the time being, but adding another monitor is something I might end up doing. Thoughts on my current parts list? I'm having trouble picking a PSU and a MoBo along with wireless connectivity options. I wanted the option to connect to WiFi because I live with my family and it's optimal given my current state of living. Items with a star next to them are ones that I'm not fully committed to at the moment. I want to be able to play games with on a decent quality (Med. - High) but with stable FPS such as Fallout 3/NV/4, Portal 1/2, Left 4 Dead 2, CS:GO, TESV, Boishock 1/2/Inf, etc. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mtpRxr CPU: Intel Core i5 - 4460 3.2 GHz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO *MoBo: MSI Z97-Gaming 3 ATX LGA1150 Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB ( 2 x 8GB ) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM Video Card: Gigabyte GeFroce GTX 750Ti WINDFORCE 2GB *Case: Fractal Design R4 ( Black Pearl ) *PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer OS: Windows 7 Home Premium *Wireless Network Adapter: TRENDnet TEW-805UB 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ USB 3.0 WiFi Adapter Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. 12. Im planning on making a pc for the first time and I can see that Newegg is having a sale right now. parts list: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MadeInChina_O69/saved/3TxFt6 If I get the parts now I will save ~$100. Im asking if I should buy now because most of the parts on my list wont have that derastic price changes so I might aswell get all of them together. Im asking if I should wait because the next gen intel cores are coming out soon so are next gen nvidea cards and would it be better to just pass out this sale and wait till the next gen stuff are anounced?

  14. Hey Guys & Gals My first introduction into gaming was a gaming laptop (not the greatest choice), and I would like to build a beast gaming rig. Could you guys help me pick the parts? I have no experience in pc building and don't know what to chose. I would like to use this rig to play games at high quality, do some light recording for myself and friends (could see youtube-like platforms as a hobby) and be overkill for basic uni-work. I live in belgium and my budget at most is 1700 euros, including windows 10 home OS and probably and office 2016 student. All I need is a monitor, the pc parts and a kicka** case Could you guys and gals help me? Thanks Iza
  15. This thread is going to cover building my first ever PC. After several months, over half a year of planning, I am building my first Personal Computer. Before the mentioned months of planning, I knew next to nothing about computers. I discovered that things like GPU’s and CPU coolers existed and began the daily, religious practice of picking parts within the great pcpartpicker.com realm. After several picked and modified build choices, many of you can probably attest as witness, literally dozens of planning posts and stupid questions has aloud me to summarize a general list of parts and desires. The true purpose of this thread is to have some of my homies back me up when I get into sketchy situations. Also, just for me to look back on and observe my progress. To get on with it, the reason I am building a computer is because my 2012 iMac leaves something to be desired. I would like to step into the world of gaming, more so than I already have. Currently, I continue to partake in Starcraft 2 after 3 years of solid competency. This game has allotted me the given of investing in gaming peripherals. So, without ado, here [screenshot of purchase] is what started my first PC build and really forced myself to commit to this journey. Here is what I decided on: PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/4wvj2R Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/4wvj2R/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($249.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S 55.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($59.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($152.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory ($66.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($89.39 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Red 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive ($117.99 @ Best Buy) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card ($454.98 @ Newegg) Case: Phanteks ECLIPSE P400 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($90.98 @ Newegg) Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link Archer T9E PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter ($74.95 @ Newegg) Monitor: Dell S2716DG 27.0" 144Hz Monitor ($519.99 @ Amazon) Total: $1923.22 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2016-08-10 20:53 EDT-0400
  16. I am looking into building my own computer for the first time. I am first looking for a case and a motherboard. i know that i will have water cooling for my CPU so i need a place for a radiator the the fans for it as well. i would love to get a case with racks for hard drives as when i upgrade i will want to turn this PC into a plex server.I want to go for ddr3 ram, and I want to do 16 GB and upgrade to 32 GB later. I want to get an 256 GB boot SSD as well. This computer will be used for a lot for Photoshop an premiere pro ; with light usage in after effects. I would like to run a game or two once i a while like GTA but if this computer isn't powerful enough i will just end up using an older version like GTA 4. Totally not a big deal for me. So...... down below are a list of what i need to be at the most $600 and will give me the most out of my video editing workflow. Computer Case Motherboard 16GBram 1tbHD 256SSD 2 or more GB video card CPU cpu water cooler anything else i missed Thank you guys for all the help!!!! The goal for this build is a decent rig for 1080p high/ultra gaming for the next few years in my budget. I'm not fussy about graphics, so i'm fine with lowering graphics in a few years, so i'm sure the 380 will do fine for me in the next few years. I've done my research for the past week and is confident with this build, but before nailing it in. I wish to ask for some final no regret's advice before ordering everything. Note that I don't need to factor in shipping costs as most of everything in the list I can get at a local MSY I do also have a few questions about a few parts CPU: I was originally thinking about getting a lower priced Cpu like a i5 6400, but with more of today's games utilizing the cpu plus Drerict 12. I'm also trying to "Future proof" and having a good Cpu for the next 4+ years. Graphic card: I'm unsure which manufacturer to pick for the 380. I know Sapphire are well known to king for Amd cards. But the Gigabyte G 1 gaming one is a cheaper here with a 3 years warranty with the Sapphire having only a 2 year warranty. Power supply: Can I get away with only a 550w power supply or is safer to just stick with a 650w one? I originally picked the EVGA SuperNOVA Nex 650w with this build, but with this being a budget build will it be worth pay extra for a 80 Gold+ psu? Thanks you for reading! have a nice day.
  21. I just need a second opinion, if ive read and researched everything correctly everything here (expect gpu) should work together right? I know an i5 is better for a z170 board but this should work for a cheaper option if im correct. Can anyone help please and thank you
  22. Hello Jedi's Through much research over the past 24 hours, i've found out what SLi, bandwidth, M.2 and other terms mean. I've included in my research some components and reading up on em. Out of my depth but enjoying the process. I have purchased the MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3x with the idea of being able to throw in some more RAM if i wanted to later or take advantage of the SLi. It seemed like good quality for the £124 i paid. Because i don't work "fulltime" my income is limited. My end goal is to have a PC that can play FPS games such as SQUAD and ArmA3 at a level that doesnt make me think to myself "i wish my rig was better" Not space aged but accetable enough to create a pleasant gaming experience. I'd like to spend between £50 - £150 on each component. Obviously if i can get a perfectly good case/cooling system for less than £50 or whatever then im not going to spend more than i have to. But i really dont want to scrimp on a power supply or a CPU and so on. (the main bits) Although items like M.2 I would love to have for the fact they're newish and a cool thing to have. I'm going to start of with the questions i have in a list to make it easier for you guys to help, afterwards any advice would be appreciated. #1 Is the i5 6600k good enough to create my experience? (Or for a few extra £££'s can i squeeze a better CPU in) #2 Should i take advantage of the SLi? #3 keeping in context of the graphics will my motherboard support two GTX 960 4gb cards in SLi and would that be better than one GTX 980 ti. (The reason i ask is because to shell out the money for a 980 ti would be difficult, but i could get one 960 4gb and then another later. Keeping to the limited income) Tbh im not sure about the graphics cards at all, these are just two i've seen. Really baffled by what graphics cards to get or even consider #4 I really wanna try and keep the black and white kinda groove going on with the motherboard looking so cool, cant find a space aged case. They're all abit iRobot looking. I want jaggy edges and laserbeams lol #5 M.2 I know what it is and i know i want one.. but i dont know why. Can i get a M.2 and have that as my main drive? with my OS / Main documents on it and basically fill that up before i need to buy a SSD or HDD? Or is it a luxury item that should be running along side other SSD's? Will it effect gaming performance that much? i have no idea. But i'd love to own one. ALSO will my motherboard support the Samsung 950 Pro? #6 The only things left are Coolers and the power supply. I really want to invest in a 80 gold, platinum or titanium power supply. The quality and reassurance that comes with it is paramount. It's a constant warning im getting from youtube videos and other info. (Am i too paranoid about it?) or is my paranoier warranted? lol ALSO what kind of wattage will i need for 2 gpu's in SLi? for instance will a 650w power everything i'll eventually want? or should i go 1000w? #7 I have no idea about coolers. I'd rather not have liquid cooling for price and having liquid near my rig doesnt seem like a smart move (my own ignorance is noted) Also keeping in mind i may want to invest in a second GPU in the future what kind of cooling system will i need to buy to make sure im not replacing it to accommodate the second GPU. #8 What kind of RAM will i want to go for? I've heard DDR5 is great.. then i've also heard i can only support DDR4? then therees different speeds.. like 2200mhz? up to 3600 mhz? what does this mean? To summarise. The experience im looking for is my main goal. But i would like to have luxury items too (snazy case, M.2) I'm trying to build that experience but also build for the future. Looking ahead to the SLi days of my hopefully near future. Will i need a bigger PSU and better cooling system ready for when i eventually get to the promise land? I thank you all for your time and patience. Tidgey.
  23. I'm a first-time overclocker who wants to overclock his AMD Phenom II X4 945 to at least 4 GHz. It's a Deneb chip with a 95W TDP. A step by step would be great but some tips would also be just as helpful. Thank you. Here are the specs of my computer- Processor- AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 95W TDP RAM- 8GB Samsung chips Power Supply- EVGA 600W Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper T4 Video Card- Radeon HD 7570
  24. This is my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2BxQTH So here's the problem: I built this computer yesterday (took me almost a whole day since it's my first build) put it in the power and it turned on. The motherboard's LED's turned on, the Graphics card turned on, the fans turned on, everything seemed to be working EXCEPT the case buttons. (the buttons that turn on and off the computer in the front) To be frank, I didn't know why but I ignored it (since I can just simply turn it off by turning off the power supply) and went on to connect the new computer into my TV (since my monitor comes Wednesday but I want to set it up already) and my TV says there is no signal. I used a HDMI connection from the graphics card to the TV, I don't know if I did that incorrectly, or if my computer just isn't working in general. The motherboard has two or three lights on, one of them two red and one yellow, I don't know what these mean, but I would like some help so that I can turn it off and on using the case, and be able to connect it to my display. Any help is appreciated.
  25. Hello, I was wondering if someone can help me make a budget build. I live in the US, price range is roughly $800-1200. I am looking to play games like PUBG, Fortnite, BF1, Star wars, and others. I am not too sure about resolution and such but I was think 1080p at 120hz with a good refresh rate. Also I am looking to go the intel route and I will need peripherals. Hopefully someone can tell me what is good and bad or even give advice on the things I mentioned. Thanks in advance!
