I recently bought a huge lot of computer parts on Craigslist, some of which were for a client build. Not mentioned in the ad, however, was an poor old abused Cooler Master Elite 110. It had dried superglue all over it, random holes drilled in it, at least three coats of different colored paint all over it, and a few missing parts. This is going to be the thread where I document my adventures resurrecting, modding, and building with this case, all with a budget of zero. Everything I put into this case is going to be scrap, and hopefully it turns out usable. The first two pictures are some pictures of the damage the case had, while the third is what the orbital sander revealed about its thoroughly painted history. I started the mod by sanding the outer panel of the case. This took a good half hour with the orbital sander, and left my hand unusable afterwards. It revealed that the seemingly black case had underneath it: Black, White, Red, Black, and then the metal of the case. I sanded the entire thing smooth, and applied a few coats of spray primer (Pic. 4). Next came the front panel. One of the previous owners had taken to it harshly with a drill bit (Pic. 5), and it had the same paint disaster, but with another layer of white on top. I decided I was going to create an acrylic front for the front panel, gluing it to the tapered edge. This means I only have to worry about the appearance of the edges of the front panel. As far as front I/O, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. It got the same sand, primer, and wait treatment as the main panel. I went to my spray paint shelf to find that I have the colors black, white, red, blue, gray primer, and gold. I didn't want to do black or white, to avoid the colors that the case originally comes in. I decided against red, as that doesn't match my room. I decided for blue, as Gold is too tacky, and the gray primer is too matte. For the front panel, I chose a white enamel, and it turned out quite glossy and nice looking. Once assembled with the rest of the case, it looks good. My next mods are going to be a custom acrylic piece to cover the carnage of the front panel, a side panel window, white internal lighting, and a few internal mods I haven't quite figured out so I won't mention here just in case. That's all there is for now, I'll post updates as they happen.

So I'm finally upgrading my PC, and I'm a little hesitant to begin putting things together before I've figured out intakes/exhaust. I've heard that the PSU (Antec Neo Eco 620) should be installed upside down to pull hot air from inside and exhaust it outside the case. Should I do this? I have a MasterLiquid Lite 120 on an i5-6300, an SSD, HDD, and GTX 1050 Ti. The real advantage I see with the inverted PSU is being able to put both drives above the PSU, allowing the GPU to have unrestricted airflow from the side, but I don't know how much an SSD would injure the performance of either the PSU or GPU should it be in front of the intake fan. Additionally, I don't know whether to make the AIO an intake or exhaust fan. Recommendations? Speaking of the GPU, it's a Gigabyte, so how does the air flow on that type of card? I don't know where intake/exhaust would be.

So I have some interesting ideas for an ITX build, but I need help from someone with a Cooler master Elite 110. How much space is there in terms of thickness for the gpu. I want to mod an RX 480 with a custom cooler and put it in there, but I need help to find out if it will fit. Length is no issue and height neither, just how much thicker than dual slot can the gpu be.

Building a quiet gaming pc and home server inside an Elite 110. I'm almost certainly going to go with a GTX 750 Ti for 1080p gaming but I want one that's has good performance and low noise since the pc will be on almost all day. Also, I prefer one of the cards that doesn't require a 6-pin PCI-E power cable because the less cables I have in the Elite 110, the better. If anyone has an EVGA SC model and can tell me how quiet it is, I prefer to buy that card because it is small and doesn't require external power. Appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Hello fellow Techtippers, First of all this is my current setup CPU: Intel core i3 4150 GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 750ti Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4GB MB: ASRock B85M-ITX Case: Cooler Master elite 110 HDD: Seagate 3,5" 2TB WD 3,5" 640GB WD 2,5" 500GB (OS) This setup is used as a NAS and a gaming machine. My problem is that the 3,5" WD and Seagate are almost full. They are full of movies and tv shows, but I would like to keep them. So I had the idea to buy another HDD. But than I had the idea that I wanted some kind of backup of the tv shows and movies. So I came across the 'storage spaces' in windows 8. Are they any good? So than I thought of buying 2 HDD both 2TB so I could make a pool from these 2 and the seagate one. Or maybe 2 HDD both 3TB and when the Seagate is full I could switch it for a 3TB one, as an example. And which HDD is a good one for this? I thought about the WD Red. But if I buy 2 more HDD than I would need a new case, airflow is not that good in the elite 110. So the next case would be the Fractal Design Node 304 (black ofcourse). So my choices are: 1. Deleting some movies and tv shows 2. Buying one extra HDD for extra storage but no kind of backup 3. Buying two extra HDD's for extra storage and backup 4. Buying two extra HDD's for extra storage and backup + a new case So some feedback is appreciated Thanks in advance PS sorry for the not so good English

Hi there guys, I was looking for the Cooler Master Elite 110 for use in a home build. However, I was having trouble finding it in UK outlets, and wherever I could find it it was fairly expensive, compared to the Elite 130. Ebay Elite 130: £35-40 Elite 110: £90 Scan.co.uk Elite 130: £40 Elite 110: £66 Does anyone have any idea why it's so expensive compared to its big brother, and why it's barely available? Hello everybody, Recently i've upgraded from a laptop to a decent pc which also functions as a "NAS" but not really. The PC is always on so I want it to be quiet, but it isn't yet. Here are the specs Case: Cooler Master Elite 110 with standard 120mm fan CPU: Intel i3-4150 with stock cooler GPU: EVGA GTX 750ti SC MOBO: ASRock B85M-ITX PSU: Corsair CX430 HDD1: Seagate Momentus 500GB HDD2: Seagate Baracuda 2TB HDD3: WD ? 640GB WD6400AAKS-22A7B0 The problem for me is that the machine makes too much noise and I couldn't really determine which of the components caused that noise. I can only replace the stock cooler and the standard case fan, but does it do much against the noise? I've looked at the Noctua NH-L9i as a replacement for the stock cooler but is it worth the money? And what fan is a good replacement for the standard case fan? Thanx in advance Fieldhof
