Planning on purchasing the FiiO K3 to pair with 250Ohm DT990. I've read that the balanced output on the K3 is much more powerful than the 3.5mm output and I was wondering if I could just use a 3.5 to 2.5 adaptor to plug 990s in the balanced? Or if not, is the FiiO E10K a better option? Thanks

Hi everyone. I just recently bought the Beyerdinamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms and i'm currently using them in my PC for music and games. My PC have the motherboard ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING wich supposedly have for onboard audio the SupremeFx (CODEC S1220A). I don't suffer from EMI noise and my level of volume that i get is fine. So, my question is this. If I spend on a DAC/AMP like the Fiio e10k will I get a far better experience in sound quality or it will be just a small improvement? I'm trying to decide which is best for my situation. I'll be receiving some AKG K7XX cans from the massdrop and likely a Zalman clip on mic. I like the idea of having an all-in-one setup with the Fiio E10k, but something tells me having it all together is going to lose some quality you get with having a full setup with something like a Magni/Modi 2 setup. I'm considering the Asus sound card since I need somewhere to plug in the microphone along with the cans, so having the cables wrap around each other and split at the end to their respective inputs is something I could live with. But, having the sound card means I'd need a something like the SMSL dac. Any inputs or advice?

I know the Fiio E10K is a solid budget DAC, but is it worth buying if I only have low-end headphones? I have an Audio Technica ath ax3is, and I don't know if the dac would make the sound a 100$ better (in my country every audio equipment is quite expensive).

So I just got my Fiio E10k from Massdrop, and it's acting really funny. Every time I plug it in, It works fine for a little bit, but every once and a while it will produce these awful distorted noises and lower the pitch of the song. It's not my headphones, and the amp sometimes works fine, but I'm not sure what is causing this. When the amp works, it sounds great, but when it doesn't, I'm afraid my headphones are committing suicide. I currently use loudness equalization quite a lot with my current sound card but I am having driver issues and I want to get a portable and driverless external DAC. I am thinking about getting a FiiO E10K since it is fairly cheap and driverless. I am just wondering, does the FiiO E10K and other driverless DACs have loudness equalization in the sound settings in windows? I tend to use loudness equalization quite a lot and find it useful. thanks

I'm looking into buying a DAC for use with a Sennheiser hd8 and have noticed that the Fiio Q1, Fiio K1 and Fiio E10K have good ratings on Amazon but I can't tell what the difference is. Which is better? Why?

I will soon be running the HD650 off a Schiit Valhalla 2 but I still want to run my Fiio e10k with my ad900x. Sadly I cannot think of a way to make the Fiio E10k output to the rca cables that the sys needs.

Hi guys, having some dilemma on which external dac/amp I should get between those two i stated. I use a Sennheiser G4me One and mainly use for games and music. any comments are much appreciated.

I have been wanting to get the FiiO E10k for a while, as it doubles as an Amp and a DAC. However, I already have the Astro Mixamp (which is only an AMP, not a DAC). Would It make a big enough difference to upgrade, or should I just spend it on something else? Thanks, Derple

Hi all, Working in software development, I pass most of my days in front of my computer, and I also game in my free times. About 1.5 years ago I purchased myself a pair of Razer Electra headphones, wich I really like. I'm not a fan of razer, far from that, but so far I got to tell that they do the job very, very well. So much that I purchased a pair for my dad as a gift. Anyway, I know that they are pretty basics headphones, so I was wondering if the purchase of a Fiio e10k would make a big enough difference to change my headphone experience, or I would need better headphones to be able to hear a better quality sound. I don't wan't to spend money too much on these things since I'm just a beginner in audio components, but this would be a good start I think. I'm moving into a house this summer so money will be short for a couple of months cause moving will cost something, but now I have the budget for it. So yeah... Basically is it worth it with these headphones or it's useless ? Thank you

OK, so I've been using my FiiO E10K for several days now, but it's very warm to the touch right now, and I'm worried. Is this OK?! It IS 38ºC (100ºF) right now in southern California right now, though.

When I built my first PC 2 1/2 years ago this is the speaker system I went with because my old ones weren't working with the new hardware: Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System. These speakers come with an amp dial connected to them which has a off switch, bass boost, headphone jack and a AUX for MP3 players. What sucks about the headphone jack is that you have to turn the dial all the way up to get loud sound and the quality is diminished compared to what the speakers themselves do. The 3.5 audio cable connected to the PC, amp dial, subwoofer and satellite speakers are all connected with no breaks in between. The dial got scratchy after the first year so I mostly change audio levels with the Windows sound bar. The Cyber Acoustics speaker set would be much better if you could disassemble it. I'm not in the market for new speakers for now. I would later get Monoprice 8323 (40 Ohms) and ATH-M50 (38 Ohms) headphones along with this inexpensive portable amp : FiiO E6 Fujiyama Portable Headphone Amplifier It sure did raise the volume on my headphones in a good way. From reading the specs on amazon it claims to have Output Power: 150mW (16Ohm), 16mW (300Ohm), which confuses me as 16 and 300 are way different. The E6 lasted only about 12-16 months before the battery stopped holding a charge, now it only works while it's plugged in and hisses while running the live current. If you read some of the amazon reviews you will see comments warning about there being a counterfeit supply of amps being sold on amazon with maybe no evidence feedback of the problem having been solved. wtf --------------------------------------------------------- So I've looked into the Schiit Stack (Magni + Modi) and the O2+ODAC. $200+ is way to much for me to be spending on something like this. Then I've seen suggestions for Syba USB 2.0 DAC63057 ($40) and FiiO E10K USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier ($76). I'm trying to see the differences between these, someone reading should be able to help me out. Both the Syba and E10K have a coaxial out. I've never used this type of cable before. My motherboard says it has S/PDIF out, so would that mean I could get digital audio from my PC to either one of these two amps? If both the amps use coaxial, I can't tell if my motherboard would be compatible with that because I think it has toslink. The E10K has a line out audio port to connect to PCs and the Syba has R+L audio which can't. Is the idea with the Syba that I should use the S/PDIF to connect to my PC or use a RCA to 3.5 adapter? Would that R+L work on an old game console? The E10K recommends 16-150 impedance headphones. The Syba doesn't mention Ohms or impedance other than a bad review claiming it won't help headphones over 35 Ohms. Is there a definitive answer to this? The Syba has a microphone-in on the DAC. Would this count as another microphone input to go along with the front and rear mics my PC already has? So 3 mics? Is the E10K bass boost any good? I'm concerned about the digital audio option because the coaxial outs on the amps don't match what my motherboard has. I just received the Fiio E10K amp/dac today. Plugged the device in and everything appeared to install just fine. The fiio shows up in audio devices and even set it itself as my playback device automatically. Unfortunately I get absolutely no sound. Plugged my speakers in the back audio out port and headphones in the front to test both ports on the E10K and neither one works. My computer shows it as the only audio option plugged in and have disabled all other audio device options. Volume knobs and setting as all turned on as well. I see the sound meter going up and down, but continue to hear nothing. It appears to have installed as a USB audio device, but in the playback device manager it default labeled it as an SPDIF. That may just be a technicality since the label is easily changed, but figured I should mention it since I do not know that much about audio setups. If anyone can give me constructive advice it would be greatly appreciated. It irritates me that something which is supposed to be so simple is giving me this much issue.
