I recently walked a friend through building a pc via text messages. It's using windows 11 and has a radeon rx 6650xt gpu. He updated gpu drivers and did everything he's supposed to do. The pc works great but the issue is when he right clicks on desktop; "AMD Radeon settings" option is missing. It's AMD's equivalent to nvidia control panel. He can't change any graphics settings other than what is in adrenaline software. No texture filtering, antialiasing, power management, or anything. Has anyone ever experienced this? I've seen some "fixes" on YouTube but they require going deep in settings, folders, registry editor and more. The person experiencing this issue has no knowledge of computers whatsoever so I don't feel comfortable trying to instruct him remotely on a method I can't test myself because I only use nvidia gpus

So I just recently bought an RTX 3070 and I've noticed that anything DX12 or DX12Ultimate is a stuttering mess. No matter what game it is it just stutters and barely pushes 1080@30fps. Is this a driver issue or is there a solution im not seeing? I've used DDU to clear everything out and redid the drivers but no dice. Ive looked it up and the problem seems to be further than just my card so im certain it's not faulty. Looking for possible solutions. Running a Ryzen 9 3900x, 32GB of RAM and the RTX 3070.

I built a pc roughly a month ago with a 5900x and a 6600 XT (plan is to upgrade gpu shortly; I know it's unbalanced). I got everything set up nicely with no issues and it worked great until a few days later when I booted my pc to find that AMD Adrenalin wasn't working because apparently Windows had overwritten my up to date drivers with old ones that completely broke Adrenalin. I redownloaded the drivers only to have them disappear again a week later (Windows Update was "helping" me out by regularly messing up my drivers). At this point I disabled automatic driver updates (is there a better way to deal with this?). Fast forward about three weeks and I was updating iCUE to a new version. Halfway through the install, my PC completely froze up. I powercycled, and when my pc booted back up it had display drivers from mid-2021. Apparently iCUE also broke my display drivers. I redownloaded Adrenalin/my drivers from the AMD website, gnashing my teeth because it was late and I wanted to sleep, then left the pc overnight once things were settled and I'd done my restart/checked that Adrenalin was working again. The next day my drivers were inexplicably reverted again and this time I had no idea why, so I literally just went into the previous day's driver download folder and clicked the executable to have it install again. After that install things have been working fine since, but it's only been a few days and I'm just waiting to sit down at my computer some random day and have to once again reinstall Adrenalin, which is the worst part of all of this--if your drivers get rolled back, Adrenalin just nopes out and makes you go to AMD.com to get the correct drivers and reinstall the entire program. Have any other AMD users dealt with this issue? Is there a way to make AMD drivers more stable and/or allow automatic driver updates while keeping current AMD drivers from being overwritten by old ones and/or be able to actually open Adrenalin to update your drivers and/or stop having to tear your hair out over something that ought to just work properly?

I recently got a Vega 64 LC and am trying to OC the vram. I am using the newest 2020 drivers which auto suggested 1051mhz, which works fine in folding@home with no errors. However it crashes the gpu drivers with "radeon host application has stopped" in half life alyx and in superposition benchmark. Testing 975mhz also crashed the driver in superposition. I then tested stock 945mhz in superpostion and it works, but afterburner reports rediculously high vram temp spikes. Anyone have any idea what could cause these, if I should be worried about them, and if there is anything I can do to OC my ram without having the driver crash?

So thanks to Linus and his video, I have successfully built my computer one week ago. However, some issues start to surface. Sometimes when the computer is idle, or when I am doing some light work (like document editing or browsing the web), the screen will hang. If I am lucky, about 10 seconds later it will recover; if I am not, it will stay there, until I press the power button to force it to shut down and then restart again. sometimes it will just force a restart. (this never happen when I am playing GPU usage intense games or when I am running GPU stress test btw, not yet anyways.) Usually when this happens, in the event viewer it says that source of error is nvlddmkm, so nvidia driver or the GPU is giving me all these issues. these are what i have done so far: (1) unseated the GPU, reseat it again. (2) uninstall the driver, install it again from nvidia site. this has been done a few times, including install it by using third party software and manually. the last attempt was manual. it brings in the GeForce experience software as well. My final attempt is not going so well however. some mentioned that I will need to uninstall everything from nvidia and geforce (never say anything about installing them back tho). to do that, i will have to remove the gpu, plug the hdmi cable into the motherboard directly, and then using DDU to uninstall. however, when i am trying that, i face another issue: my CPU is ryzen 5 3600, which has no integrated gpu. when i remove the gpu, the computer will not boot, and the vga light will be on. so.. here i am, stuck in a hard place, with no idea what to do. currently the most drastic action is to buy another gpu (returning might be possible, but will be very troublesome), but before i do that, is there anything else i can attempt? edit: forgot to put in the parts. motherboard: MSI X470 Gaming CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 RAM: G.Skill AEGIS 16GB, 2 pieces GPU: GTX1650 PSU: cooler master 750W full modular gold standard (or something like that)

Hi all, I have an Acer Nitro 7 with 9750H and GTX 1650 gddr5 50W variant. Now, I get very good temps with the machine while gaming (CPU at 75, GPU below 70 while playing witcher at medium-high settings), and the 1650 seems to overclock fairly well (+150mhz stable on core), but the reason I started thinking of this was because I can max out the memory slider to +1500mhz in afterburner and the GPU will still be stable (albeit with only a +100mhz core oc) Now I read somewhere that Nvidia actually used g6 chips just downclocked to g5 because they were so similar in price, and I think I'm one of those owners too. Since my system clearly has the thermal headroom to support a higher powered GPU, and both of them are based on the same tu117 chip, I was wondering if I could squeeze more performance out of my 1650 50W by flashing it with a bios or driver of a 1650Ti 55W. The extra 10% wattage should provide a nice little boost, and my current performance is already 7-8% above stock with the overclocks in place. Is there any way to do this? I googled but apparently on laptop no one has tried it. Thank you for your time. Edit: fixed typo in title

I ran into a weird issue years ago, I wasn't able to play anything on tv in 1080p 60hz, I can turn it on but the screen turn weird fuzzy colors are off and everything made of boxes. This should be a 4k tv an early one. Sometimes one game like dark souls 1 remastered runs in 1080p 60hz no issue at all, but most of the time not the case. I figured might be the intel display manager what causing this it locks everything under 30hz, every resolution so I disabled the intel hd 630. I lost control of resolution and the panel said it runs at 1hz but dived deeper it said 64hz 4k. Games went nuts just couldn't scale but it was 4k. This is a acer vx5 with the 1050 and the i5, what I don't understand the desktop runs smoothly after a reinstall of windows but when I install the intel driver everything gets laggy, and of course that issue up. If anyone has an idea what is this please tell me, also the tv is capable perfectly of 1080p 60hz ps3 ps4 was perfectly fine with it no issues at all.

My friend just bought a used r9 290 and he wants me to test it in my build, which has relatively new parts. I have a r9 390, so would I still need to reinstall drivers even if these cards are kind of the same?
