Hello, I'm looking to make use of the 2 open RAM slots on my motherboard with the overall goal to increase speeds. I just finished my PC build in Feb. so I'm completely new this and with all my research I've thoroughly confused myself and appreciate any insights and feedback. Would it be better to purchase another identical 2x16GB DDR-3200 RAM set, totaling in 64GB of RAM? Or go with 4x8GB DDR-3600 RAM set that would keep me at 32GB of RAM but with DDR-3600 speed? It's my understanding that more RAM doesn't always equal faster speeds, and having a dual channel motherboard plays another part in it. Current build specs: CPU: i5-12600KF Motherboard: ASRock B660M Pro RS Memory: G.Skill Trident Z 2x16 GB DDR4-3200

Budget (including currency): 700 British pounds Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Building Android 13 for Work and playing Fortnite. Other details : Motherboard: Gigabyte TRX40 AORUS MASTER To build code, more cores are better. So, I have a Threadripper 3970X with 64 cores and 64GB of RAM. I invested a lot of money in my build to spend less time waiting when building code. I know it's overkill for gaming, but it's more about work than gaming. If I try to build Android 13 with 64 cores, it crashes because of insufficient memory. I think it requires 2GB of RAM for each CPU. If I build 16 cores, it uses about 32 GB of RAM and works fine. Now, I am looking to increase my memory RAM. I tried that before with CMT64GX4M4Z3600C16, but my system crashed a lot, and I returned to my CMK64GX4M4C3200C16. So it seems Threadripper is very picky regarding ddr4 3600 or higher speeds. Questions: Why CMK256GX4M8D3600C18 is much more expensive than 2 x CMK128GX4M4D3600C18? It's the same memory. It's not 30% more, it's 300% more! Can anyone with Threadripper experience comment about a memory that works? Should I get 3200Hz or 3600Hz for Threadripper 3970X? Thanks Lucas

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E CPU: Intel i9-11900k RAM: G.Skill RipJaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) (PC4-32000) CL15-16-16-36 1.50V Model F4-4000C15Q-32GVK GPU: AMD Radeon RT 6950 XT HDD: 990 PRO 2TB https://pcpartpicker.com/user/paradoxumlexx/saved/syDkf7 To spare the long story I've decided to stick with this setup for as long as possible (years), money needs to go to my 80TB unraid server for a while and this thing breezes through anything I've tried so far. Anyway I watercool and I like to overclock. 51/2core 50/5core 49/6 core 1.490vcore I could probably lower my CPU temps but it's stable right now so I wanna play with the ram. I've found eg; https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/oc-guide/DDR4 OC Guide.md But I really don't have time to learn all of that. As in I'm generally busy with other stuff and it's far too much info for me especially cause it's numbers and ADHD etc. But I do want to eventually understand it and be able to tweak my own ram without referring to guides or copying random peoples timings I find online. I got this with exactly stock XMP settings and just changing 36 to 28 (which I did by accident actually heh). Just give me a few secondary timings and recommended changes and why etc, somewhere to start and I'll play with those. What program should I use in windows to display or even modify timings? Thanks!

Hey folks! I'm considering getting a 14700k (or a 13900K or 14900K, depending on whether I find them at a good price). Having already 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR4-3600 CL16, I'd like to keep them and use them for my new CPU. I could buy 2 sticks of 16GB each, DDR5-6000 CL30, but the first-word latency of those new sticks would be higher than my DDR4 sticks, and according to Linus, that's not a smart move. So my question is: for content creation tasks (essentially video editing), will my DDR4 sticks be enough to run those CPUs? Will I be leaving out a lot of performance?? Thanks for your answers!

specs : cpu : i3 12100f graphic card : rtx 3050 zotac mobo : asrock b760m pro rs ddr4 psu : cooler master g600 gold ram : klevv cras x 3600mhz cl18 _ 2 x 16Gb system crashes and reboot after playing games like The last of us and cyberpunk the ram sticks are in a2 b2 slots , i put it into a1 b3 slots, it was fine for an hour untill it crashed and reboot again i tried everything : clean gpu driver uninstall and installing the latest driver , checking ram health with memtest 86 and there was no problem i tested single sticks in a1 b2 a2 b2 slots one at a time and there was no crashing i even put to sticks in a1 a2 and then b1 b2 slots . apparently it only crashes on dual channel mode then i replaced ram with 2 × 8gb corsair vengance 3200mhz cl16 and enabled xmp and there were no crashes so i thought maybe the xmp is the problem or the cpu can't handle 3600 mhz on klevv ram so i tested it at 2133 mhz and 3200mhz but it still crashes! does anyone know what is the problem with my pc?

Ive recently upgraded from a 9700k with z390 Aorus Ultra to a 5800x3d and Asus Tuf B550m Plus Wifi II. My problem is i cant get the 5800x3d to post with 4 sticks (HyperX 8GB DDR4 3600 17-21-21-39) no matter how many combinations ive tried. Every stick is working (litteraly just unplugged from the 9700k and into the new board), i can post with 3 sticks (but need to add 1 stick at a time), every slot on the motherboard is working with all sticks, one at a time. I can boot with dual channel in either position (A1 B1, A2 B2) but when i add the last stick, no matter the settings (even tried 2400 20-22-22-44), voltage, etc, when i add the last stick, RAM Led indicator pops up and no post. Its my first amd Cpu and ive read that 5000 IMC should be comparable to 9-10 gen intel. Did i just got unlucky and got a bad IMC? Is the daisy chain in this board super bad compared to T topology on the Aorus Ultra or is it probably a faulty board? Right now, im using it with slots A1 A2 B2 From my understanding, its probably the CPU not being capable of manage 4 sticks, since all slots are working correclty. And if thats the case, i want to RMA as fast as possible. If its a daisy chain problem, ill probably sell my ram and find a 2x16 kit. Thanks in advance

When upgrading, I got myself motherboard GIGABYTE B660 GAMING X DDR4 (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B660-GAMING-X-DDR4-rev-10#kf). The board is OK, currently acomodating i5 12400F. After some daily use, I have several questions regarding RAM, CPU wattage and m2/nvme drives, and unfortunately google and even official documentation from Gigabyte failed to satisfy them, so I am turning to you guys, in hopes that someone already had same problems/questions in past and can help me. Problem no.1 - RAM frequency I purchased and am using 16GB (2x8gb) kit of RAM (Kingston FURY 16 GB KIT DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 Beast Black (KF432C16BBK2/16). I chose this RAM because it has official support according to the manufacturer, and it was very reasonably priced. HOWEVER, what manufacturer or any documentation fails to mention, is that this board only supports/can run this specific RAM on its base frequency of 2400mhz, setting it any higher results in black screen and PC starting up only to shut down after few seconds, only to repeat the process until I reset bios. I only learned about this problem AFTER purchase, I wasn't even aware such thing is possible, to have official support, but not for motherboards and memory's full advertised speed. My question - can anyone recommend me from their own experience a 2x8 / 2x16 kit of RAM that will work on at least 3200mhz with my board? Apparently, official list of supported RAM modules is useless in this regard (google shows other people with same problem on same hardware, but no solutions). Problem no.2 - multiple M2/Nvme Drives When upgrading, I put Samsung 980 500 GB drive in the motherboard, in the heatsink-covered slot (one closest to the CPU), and it replaced SATA SSD, and it looks really nice without one extra cable and works like a charm. Many people claim, that putting m2 drive in motherboard will disable several SATA ports. My question - can I get another, 1TB m2 drive, and would the PCIE 4,0 be able to handle two m2 drives, and how many SATA ports would that disable? The board have 3 m2 slots, but I am worried even 2 drives might be pushing it... Problem no.3 - CPU wattage for CPU upgrade I am considering buying i7 12700KF. I am well aware, that my board most likely does not support overclocking, and that's fine, I never OC'd CPU in my life, and am not about to start now. I just like the extra cores/e-cores and significantly higher base frequency. My question - even when not overclocked, the 12700KF can still potentially be power-hungry. Would my board be able to supply it with enough power to work properly without any risk of any kind of damage to the motherboard, assuming the CPU will not be overclocked (not like board would let me anyway). According to Intel, turbo power is 150W, but some people reported 190W when using it. I already have proper cooler for that wattage, it is the motherboard I am concerned about, as I have not experience with unlocked parts. Thanks in advance for any anwsers/advice. ^^

I currently have Team Elite TForce Delta TUF 16GB 2x8 3200mhz DDR4 and planning to add or upgrade my RAM. the RAM sticks are currently set as [ ]-[8]-[ ]-[8] on my motherboard. What difference would it make if I choose one of the 3 options for adding/upgrading RAM? Add another Team Elite TForce Delta TUF 16GB 2x8 3200mhz which would make it [8]-[8]-[8]-[8] Replace my 2x8 GB with TForce Delta TUF 32GB 2x16 3200mhz which would make it [ ]-[16]-[ ]-[16] Add TForce Delta TUF 32GB 2x16 3200mhz and set it as [8]-[16]-[8]-[16] Any PROS and CONS for each of the upgrade options? Thank you for your help.

Samsung DDR4 B-die Vs C-die for Laptop RAM?
Vuvaise posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
My laptop has a 4GB soldered + 4GB (M471A5244CBO-CRC) stick. It has C-die according to the results of Thaipoon. To Upgrade I bought a 16GB DDR4 RAM from Amazon India for Rupees 2700 which is a B-die RAM (M471A2K43BB1-CRC) since C-die RAM (M471A2K43BB1-CRC) was about Rs. 4500. I checked everywhere what's the difference between these two. Found nothing according to a Laptop RAM. Some said B-die is better for Overclocking that my laptop doesn't capable of. On Samsung Semiconductor page B-die is EOL. Now After installing it I checked with Thaipoon Burner it said B-die is 20nm and C-die 18nm. I assume lower the nm, better the performance. Please someone help me, Should I have to replace this with a C-die RAM or I can use it. Will it bring any bottlenecks or any other problems. P.s. Now the C-die RAM price has reduced to Rs. 2900. -
I’m going to buy ram but I have an i3 12100. It says it only supports a max of 3200mhz for ddr4 ram. Does that mean I cannot overclock the ram or use any with a higher frequency and have it actually run at said frequency?

i have 4 sticks of corsair ddr4 3200mhz ram on msi b450 mortar and i tested all the ram are working however whenever i try to boot up with the ram configuration like this: [(ram)(ram)(empty)(empty)] or [(empty)(empty)(ram)(ram)] my computer fails to boot up and the debug led light up on ram. Only with [(ram)(ram)(ram)(ram)] and [(empty)(ram)(empty)(ram)] and [(ram)(empty)(ram)(empty)] does my pc boot up Anyone have any idea if the motherboards is dying or its a bios/software issue? i have already checked my cpu for bent pins and reseated my cpu , cleared my bios , reset cmos by taking battery out the rest of my system if it matters: msi ventus gtx1660 super , ryzen 7 2700 , boot drive mx500 1tb

I an having issue with my Gigabyte b250m d3h motherboard .... 3 years after purchase ..one day it started beeping and it was 4 long beeps and 1 short and it restarts ...same thing happens again.. i thought it was ram problem...so after replacement it worked fine and then AGAIN the beeping! the i thought probably the ram slot was damage.. i have 3 ram (8+4+4) 16 GB total...... 3 of 4 slots was used... but when rearrange ( trying each ram in each slot till it fixes) the ram to each different slot...it starts to boot normally again.... and stays fine for weeks..... Now i dont get it ...is it the ram problem or ram slot problem or both?...Pls someone give a clue what is happening here

I'm in the market for a new laptop, and I'm facing a common dilemma: should I opt for the 8GB or the 16GB RAM variant of the MSI GF63? I primarily use my laptop for web development. At the moment, 8GB of RAM seems sufficient for my needs. But my parents are urging me to go for the 16GB version. So, should I give in to the pressure? And if I choose 16GB, how straightforward is it to upgrade to two 16GB sticks, considering that the initial configuration has two 8GB sticks? Also will it work as laptop for sims4 with all the addons? So more DDR4 means more power for gaming, right? These are the two laptop variants: 1. 16gb DDR4 - MSI GF63 Core i5 11th Gen 11260H - (16 GB/512 GB SSD/Windows 11 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1650/60 Hz) GF63 Thin 11UCX-1496IN Gaming Laptop (15.6 Inch, Black, 1.86 Kg) 2. 8gb DDR4 - MSI GF63 Core i5 11th Gen 11260H - (8 GB/512 GB SSD/Windows 11 Home/4 GB Graphics/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650/60 Hz) GF63 Thin 11SC-1494IN Gaming Laptop (15.6 Inch, Black, 1.86 Kg)

Sup, I am plannin on gettin a new PC which I will build on my own, will buy parts from cheapest places I can find in my country [shipping too expensive for international orders]. SO my problem is I am planning ot get 32GB RAM. I have ATX mobo with 4xDIMM slots so I can either go with 2x16 or 4x8gig. I dont think I will need more than 32 GB anyways [97% sure wont need more]. So which kit should I use 1x16 is 33$, 2x8 is 37$. T-force Delta RGB DDR4 3600MHz. I want to fill up all 4 ram slots cas it look cool but I want to know if it affects negatively or positively, if negatively I may go with 2x16. Thanks! my plan [not 100% sure] - i7 12700K - B760 DS3H AX DDR4 - Teamforce Delta DDR4 3600MHz kit [winner here] - ID Cooling frostflow 240mm [non rgb, I will make it stand sideways, check the case, I dont like too much rgb] - mp33 Pro 1TB nvme - Asrock 3080 or PNY 3080Ti [both used] [ - Xigmatek Overtake Supertower PC [its super sus cheap but will buy it cas why not, 19$] - Cougar Gex 750W 80+ Gold, Tier B psu cannot order from ebay/amazon etc.
