I have a MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard and an Amd Ryzen 7 3700x processor and I do not know why the voltage is so high on the processor if I open the browser or if I start doing something, the load on the processor is small but then the voltage on the processor is raised to 1.430V, this is high voltage on the processor. Even with the BIOS, the voltage is still 1.475V. Still, when I am a BIOS, when I move the mouse, the mouse cursor stutters there is about 5FPS and the BIOS itself, I do not know why. When I turn on the energy saving mode in Windows, the processor works at a maximum voltage of 0.930 and when I turn on the balanced mode, the voltage is high, just like typing, but also the mouse cursor cuts off from time to time. Maybe update the BIOS but I'm afraid to update the BIOS but I know how to do it. The current BIOS which is from 2020.03.09 and I did not find this BIOS on the motherboard manufacturer's website are newer but this is not there, so I am afraid to update the BIOS because there is no one and then I could go back. Help please. Thank you.

I have an Amd Ryzen 7 3700x processor and a MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK motherboard. After updating the BIOS, the voltage does not increase to 1.475V as often as it was before. All I need to do is open the browser and the processor will immediately raise the clock speed to 4.475 MHz, this is the maximum clock speed for all cores for this processor, but when opening the browser, such high clock speed is not needed and the voltage rises to 1.475V. As I play a game that loads the processor up to a maximum of 10%, the processor clock speed is still years from 3.599 MHz to 4.475 MHz and the load does not change is still 10% and the processor changes the clock speed every second as if the load changes. How to fix it? Help please.

A heads-up, this is only my second PC that i've BIOS-tuned, so there are a lot of things that i don't know. I've tried many options, turning on/off and also adjusting settings, and i was unable to "make" the computer drop it's CPU voltage at least below 1.0V when at idle, while maintaining 4.2MHz. I can see that the CPU utilization is at 7% and that most of the cores are working at clocks below 2200mhz, but the rest are always at max speed, and the CPU voltage doesn't drop below 1.27V. I'm going to provide screenshots for any necessary reference. The first screenshot shows the performance at balanced settings. It was sitting at Idle until i ran PRIME95, simply to show the min/max Monitor Data Values. This screenshot shows that even at Power Saving mode, the voltage still won't go below 1.27V The rest are BIOS screenshots of the settings that i've tried adjusting so far, which didn't help. A note: whenever i switch CPU Voltage to Auto, the voltage goes up to 1.45V. I don't know why it's doing that, and because of it, i never used it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

System Configuration: Operating System: Windows 10 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600(no overclock) GPU: RTX 3070 GAMING OC Motherboard: MSI B550 GAME-A-PRO RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3000 PSU: Corsair RM750 Gold Monitor: HP X27qc, 27 Inch QHD Curved Monitor, with included DisplayPort cable Problem Description: I've had my PC for about a year now, when I first got my PC I used check all the stats relating to my hardware and in this case my CPU e.g. voltage, temps, clock speeds etc. At the same when gaming the it was around 1.35v in most games. Then after a month I basically just stopped checking, till now. I've noticed that when playing games(Squad, Holdfast, Ghost recon) my voltage is in the region of 1.38-1.4v. I'm not sure for the cause of this as its been a year since my last checking of stats and multiple changes to my system have been made since this like hardware upgrades e.g. new monitor, new CPU cooler and more. And obviously various software changes. I'm using the latest chipset drivers, my BIOS is not the latest update but is a recent update. My PBO in BIOS is set to Auto. I'm using Ryzen High performance power plan. My clock speed varies game to game sometimes its 3,800 other times its 4,100. My CPU temps are fine and again varies game to game most it hits is 60c averaging 55c. I look in task manager when playing games and its mostly just the game taking up the CPU usage, I use Ryzen master to check stats with default settings (no overclock). My idle voltage is fine usually 1.1 -1.2V. If you need any more details from me, please ask, Thank you.

OK, so when I first built this b450 + Ryzen 3600 system, the vcore was at 1.45V when it was set to auto! Obviously that's a little too high, since the recommended upper limit for vcore voltages are between 1.3-1.35V. After overriding the vcore and dropping it down to a constant 1.36V, the performance & temps were as expected. However, I don't want a constant voltage and want it to be able to adjust to the CPU loads. This is where things get weird because changing the vcore to an offset mode (that kept the load voltage at 1.36V) resulted in the worst performance in Cinebench r20; i.e, ~3250 pts. My CPU never went above base clock (3.6 GHz all cores) at this point. I switched back to auto vcore, but now the BIOS set the vcore to just 1.1V! WHY? What does auto even do? So after that, I went back to the override voltage, keeping it at the constant 1.36V that it was at previously...Cinebench score instantly went up 100 pts (up to 3350 pts). The CPU boosted up to 3.7-3.8 GHz (all cores) during the benchmark. WHY? What's the difference between offset and constant voltage performance?! It also gets weirder because going back to a voltage offset (NEGATIVE offset this time) resulted in a vcore of 1.28V during load. Now the CPU boosted to around 3.974 GHz (all cores) during Cinebench run. Except now the score is around 3500 pts!!! Throughout all of these tests, using all these different voltages, my CPU never even touched 72ºC at the highest load voltage. So I don't think the performance was being thermal-throttled. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH RYZEN VOLTAGES & PERFORMANCE?! Please help me understand what's going on and figure out what voltage setting I should be using.

Hi guys, So I recently decided to overclock my G3258, but I am quite a noob. I have a stock intel cooler and a 650-watt power supply with a Z97 PC-Mate motherboard. Also, I own a Strix GTX 960 OC II 2gb. I don't know what to do with the voltage, what is normal? what is high voltage? From what I understand, increasing the voltage makes the CPU warmer but also more stable. What is an acceptable temperature for my CPU? in Linus's overclocking guide he had his G3258 overclocked to 4.7 GHz with 49 degrees temp. While running idle, my CPU runs at ~42 degrees. I don't know the cpu voltage or core voltage. If you need more info, please tell me. Regards, Jeremy

Hi, I'm new to PC building and after building my first PC, I ran into a lot of problems that I can't seem to troubleshoot myself - so I've turned to you guys! I have multiple problems sorted in order from greatest to least: My graphics card will not connect to my monitor via DisplayPort, but it works perfectly with HDMI My BIOS is reading my CPU voltage at 1.776 and my RAM clock speed at 2133MHz (it's clocked at 3466MHz) NZXT Hue+'s LED strips do not turn on and NZXT Hue+ module light does not turn off unless the entire system is unplugged from the wall (turning the system off and turning power supply off doesn't work) Things you should note: While working on the fan controller, I had a problem with static electricity that may or may not have hit the motherboard (which at the time had CPU and RAM both installed). All of my fans work I do not have my SSD yet, Samsung's shipping where I live is apparently incredibly notorious I have not booted into Windows 10 yet, I'm concerned about all of these problems because I'm wondering if I can fix them even before I boot into Windows Knowing this, you know that I do not have any drivers (such as the NVIDIA GeForce drivers, but I don't think you need NVIDIA GeForce drivers just to connect to your monitor from your graphics card via DisplayPort, or do you?) or anything like that I'm inexperienced in the field of technology - so please be patient with me! Hi everyone, I (finally) upgraded from i5-3470 to a Ryzen 7 3700X, MSI X570 A PRO with latest firmware, 32 (2x16) GB Corsair Vengance LPX 3200 MHz and I was wondering what the consensus is on voltages. I set everything to Auto and idle voltages in both Windows and UEFI (BIOS) are hovering around 1.48v. I tried with both XMP on (3200 MHz) and off (2666 MHz), with no difference. I have disabled Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) and still I am getting high idle voltages. It is only when I disable Core Performance Boost that voltages drop to 1v and below (0.925 ish). However in doing so, the clock speed stays at 3.6 GHz constantly in Windows. I am using Ryzen Balanced power plan with Minimum state to 2% and maximum state at 100%. I plan on installing a Linux distro (Fedora) to check if this is an issue with Windows as I've had good experience with Threadripper and Fedora but I've seen a ton of posts on Reddit about the voltage issue. So my question is, what is the recommended settings right now? Is 1.48v at idle normal even in BIOS? Why does Core Performance Boost lower voltages so much and why the constant clock speeds? I don't want to prematurely destroy a new CPU. Thanks

Hello, I am trying to lower my cpu voltage and it be stable. But I only have 2 settings. Manual and offset. And im stuck lol. Also I cant get my ram above 1333mhz in the os. Any help? Details Motherboard p7h55-m pro Cpu xeon x3430 Ram g.skill Ripjaw rated @1866mhz Bios in pics.

Hey Guys! Yesterday I installed my new i7 8700k and a new cooler (dark rock pro 4). For the cooler installation I had to remove the motherboard and install it externally. Therefore I had to disconnect all my cables. Now after installing everything back together I boot up my pc and everything runs fine as before. But I start noticing that when I use prime95 my cpu receives voltages of 1.2-1.21v which is kinda high since the base voltage according to my MB should be 1,144 v think. Shortly after that I started receiving blue screens with the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I didn't notice any high temps. Even under full load I only saw cpu voltages of 68 degrees celcius max. So I took a closer look to my MB and noticed that I plugged in the cpu power cable in the wrong slot. The gigabyte aorus z390 elite has the standard 2x4 12v 8 pin connector and an additional 2x2 12v 4 pin connector. My psu (straight power 11 550w) has two 4 pin connectors labeled cpu 1 -P4 and cpu2 - P8. Since the pin layout of the 2x2 and the closest to the cpu from the 2x4 is the same I accidentally plugged in the cpu1 - P4 connector in the 2x2 connection spot. After unplugging in and moving it to the right place my voltages are definitely lower. 1.15v under prime95 full load. Now I couldn't test it any more but I didn't receive any blue screens after that. Could my mistake with the power connector cause the high voltages and blue screen? Or do I have to worry about a possible cpu hardware error? Greetings and sorry for the long post- 47 replies

ok, so i've spent a good deal of time googling, and haven't been able to find one solid answer. the motherboard that i have is the ASRock N68C-GS4 FX, which is supposed to be a 95w socket. im currently using a Phenom X4 9950 BE, which is a 125w processor. so far i have not had any problems. im considering upgrading to the fx 9370, which is a 220w. will the board still be able to power it? do i just have to worry about over heating? (i do have a decently new powersupply, cx600m from corsair. -just a side note, it would only be a temporary setup until i get a different board.

Over the last few day I've been assembling and testing my first time new computer. I've learned a few thing and have had to take a few Tylenol to get through this. Now for the last headache I've been battling for the past 12 hours comes down to CPU power usage. Now I really don't have an issue with applying full voltage on manual the whole time, I just wanted to see if i could get it to work. The issue is I couldn't and that is something that really bothered me. So I set out on a Google searching, forum jumping, Video watching binge to come up with an answer, how hard could it be, well for a noob like me, quite hard. Now my Computer minus the graphics card is in my signature if you want to see what I am running. Now on to the good stuff, no matter what I set my voltages to it seem to always run at full frequency and full voltage. Well finally I found a post on the rog asus forum that said "Also check Windows > Control Panel > Hardware > Power Options. The balanced option is apparently set since voltages follow speed and load. Check that the setting for max load is 100% by Jab383" and that led me to power options. I guess when I setup windows I set the Power option to high performance and guess what that does, yup you guessed it, high performance maxes out the frequency and voltage all the time. So as soon as I changed it to balance they both dropped and I'm now operating more efficiently I know it was a long story but I write this in hopes to help someone else out who might have the same issues.

Hey! The other day, I finally put together my new machine. And I decided that I would overclock my 4770k just for now. So I tried to do 4.6 GHz and I turned up the voltage to 1.250. I logged in to my machine and started up Prime95. I do the standard torture test, and RealTemp is showing me that at max load on my CPU is at max 56 C which is pretty good. It keeps running for a couple of minutes, then the whole thing just blue screens. My first thought was that the CPU wasn't getting enough power, but then again this is Haswell, so power shouldn't be that much of a problem. So I bumped up the voltage to 1.300 just for testing. And this still happened. Got me another blue screen. I tried to turn the CPU Ratio thing close to my overclock (46), but when I ran Prime95 the whole computer would freeze after a couple of minutes. I have set my voltage to manual mode, so it won't change during testing. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Can anyone help?
