Hi, I just upgraded to an i5-3570k and a z77 motherboard from my old phenom II. Games run great (PUBG runs smoother than it used to), but when going to test CS:GO, it booted fine. As soon as I joined a match and got in, it just crashed my pc and it restarted. I verified cache and it replaced 3 files, and ran it again, hoping it'd work, but I joined another game, and it crashed again. What can I do to make it run? Side note: every time it crashes, it sets my default audio out to the onboard audio (but I use a usb sound card/mixer).

NEED HELP GUYS ! So the problem is that recently casually playing cs:go i saw my usual fps (300) was a little bit lower. It ran around 250 - 300 fps. I didn't think that that is a big thing and it didn't bother me then. After then ,(after few days) i was getting around 150 and in short moments climbing to 250 fps. Then I found some commands and startup options to boost something and maybe get rid of the problem. I used a recommended program that "unparks cpu", few cs:go startup commands like (-novid; - high) but i don't have a bad PC so i don't think commands like these would help and they did not. I entered the "unpark cpu" program and parked my cpu cores? back. Today i joined a deathmatch on the all known map Dust 2 and what happened now is just horrible and i don't know what is the cause to this... Suddenly i'm getting only ~100 fps and dropping to 58 fps, everything is choppy e.t.c Already saying thank you for the help and your time. So, the game is available for a few days now. Is someone here playing it? Is it good? I'm curious to know if the studio has plans to release Black Mesa: Opposing force and Blue Shift DLCs, that would be really cool.

Hey there Linus Tech Tips community, I am having this very annoying and persistent problem with my monitor's refresh rate on certain (mostly older) video games for a quite a long time now. Ever since I've changed to a new rig, which is running on Windows 10 with a single GTX 980 video card, I am having trouble with running (most importantly) Counter-Strike 1.6 on 120 Hz, or any higher frequency than 60 Hz. The monitor I am currently on is a first generation BenQ XL2410T, which I have been using for perhaps six years now and had no problem running on 120 Hz on my previous rigs, Windows XP and Windows 7 respectively. Unfortunately, CS 1.6 will almost always run on 60 Hz for the moment, unless I change my desktop resolution from native to 640x480 (the resolution I play the game on). Doing this will run the application on 120 Hz, but as soon as I ALT+TAB it will revert to my native desktop resolution (Windows 10 things I suppose?) and once again stuck itself to 60 Hz, which means I cannot do other stuffs simultaneously like watching over my Twitch stream for example, even that I use two monitors. I am using the original GoldSrc rendering system (-nofbo in the launch options) due to multiple clashes with the new one introduced with the 2012 updates. I do have the "-freq 120" launch option there too, which (in theory) determines the refresh rate on GoldSrc engine applications. I also tried to use Source engine's equivalent "-refresh 120", but with no success at all. Moreover I have configured "hl.exe" in the 3D settings inside the NVIDIA Control Panel to demand for the "highest available" refresh rate, and despite everything Windows 10 will refuse to run the game on anything, but 60 Hz, in most cases. I contacted both BenQ and NVIDIA, as well as Microsoft, on the regard, but none was able to offer any reliable solution. The problem does not lie in the monitor itself, despite BenQ claiming it is due to lack of drivers for Windows 10, as I have also tried this on a different Windows 10-powered machine with their newest 240 Hz gaming monitor series, which are supposedly 100% compatible with the aforementioned OS. I am not sure if this is entirely a Windows 10-caused problem, or something to do with the GTX 980 (and newer video cards in general). Back in the days we used to force certain refresh rate on monitors via an application called "RefreshLock", which (unfortunately) is no longer maintained and incompatible with Windows 10. My questions are: What sort of solutions are available and can be applied to force the OS to rely on 120 Hz at all times? Is there a similar modern application that can do the job like the one I mentioned above? Any suggestions that can (at least) make the process smoother than it is for me right now? I am relying on you, Linus and the band. Hey, at least it makes an interest subject for a video, don't you think? Cheers, Evgeni 'Zinnoc' Chardakov P.S. I am not interested in playing this particular game on any other resolution than 640x480, nor using the new render. I have the latest graphic drivers installed. I am using a DVI cabel. My native is resolution is 1920x1080 running on 120 Hz, duh. And, yes, I do like streaming Counter-Strike 1.6 and other older games. They're fun!

Hi, so I've recently been into changing some console commands for my gameplay in CSGO, and specifically these two: ] viewmodel_fov 90 ] fps_max 300 Is there any way to set these console commands to load in from when I load the game and boot into a match? I find it annoying to have to key these in when I boot as I often forget about these commands and then I have to key them in mid-game.

Hello guys, I Appreciate you guys giving this a read. Let me introduce myself my name is Ian I go under the name "Just awpin' around" on steam. I am a GN3 player, but I play in all of my friends opinions 'above my level'. Now before you say to yourself oh he is just bragging blah blah. That is not the point of the post. I am trying to find a group of dedicated players and people in general to start a community with. I have big ideas and need more than 10 people to start. Now this isn't for a technical E-Sport team but, for a community in general. I'd love to have a group of a starting 50 or more people who love to play games and grow new friendships. I'm willing to host servers we can all play on and grow the community more. I'm looking for dedicated people that want to make friendships and watch a community that has a little amount of people to hopefully a larger community. This group will have different positions that will be picked by me and a few others that will have different jobs to help out the community for example graphics designer and server manager. If you have any questions don't hesitate to add me on steam, or asking here. I appreciate you guys reading this and if you guys would love to join the new community please add me on steam! I look forward to speaking with you guys. *I will have a picture of my past game-play so that any of you higher level players might feel a little more comfortable adding a Gold Nova 3 :P* * My steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/justawpinaround/ *

Hello, I've finally got enough cash to invest in a new mouse pad for CS:GO. However I have no idea what mouse pad is best. I use a relatively high sensitivity of 800DPI and 1.35 in game. I normally play as an AWPer so fast accurate movements are necessary. I've heard about the QcK and Goliathus but not sure what I'm looking for. - Octoix

I am looking for someone to help me finish the Counter-Strike Global Offensive Gemini missions. I am based in Europe so I would prefer someone in UTC +/-2 for convenience. I can play in the evenings (after 22UTC) or in the mornings (before 11UTC)

If you happen to have an android phone you can get a hacked version of the beloved version of counter-strike 1,6 to run on...you guessed it, android. Why is this something big now? who wouldn't love to just sit down at the end of the day or when your stuck waiting on someone to meet you. ^Above is how to install the app and the game to your phone so you yourself can try this out on your own. You can find this on the android police site linked below! Now with this little slice of heaven does come some issues, a lot of them being having to use your fingers on your screen blocking valuable screen real estate(Taken from the verge's article), A fun thing to also note is that this app can also let you load not only CS1.6 but The original Half-Life (cool right?!) Also if you have a Bluetooth controller you may be able to play the game better, but sadly no online functionality. Above is a taken from The Verge's article Some smartphones will struggle with running the game at a decent frame rate, but my galaxy s2 handle the game at 60 to 86fps (thanks for the handy dandy fps counter in the top right) ^Above is the quote taken from the article on Daily Dot Personal pros and cons of doing this Pros Super cool Game runs well, granted you install the right version of the cs1.6 launcher on your phone. The looking around and movement are normal* The game isnt even that big (i myself live with 1.97gb of space for app installs and my phone has yet to complain about low space) Cons The shooting controls and weapon switching is super hard to do Leaving the app will sometimes, or on my phone, cause the app to force reboot No ability to join the pc game version, yeah i tried Your phone will add the images and the sounds from the games to your media libraries Playing a round on this with bots was hard and the aiming was alittle odd but if you can get used to the learning curb, you can totally play the game just as well as on your pc. I could see this honestly being a fun little project for a bunch of people who cant afford a laptop, or even a computer, or are not home to enjoy their man cave. Sorry lan or multiplayer seem to not work on the app >.< sorry about this misinformation ^ Me playing on as_oilrig ^CS1.6 Mobile Menu (Touch works!) ^Booted up half life for lawlz and it worked flawlessly as well The Verge Link: http://www.theverge.com/2016/4/19/11457516/counter-strike-android-play Android Police Link: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/04/18/awesome-counter-strike-1-6-ported-to-android-available-for-installation-now/ Daily Dot Link: http://www.dailydot.com/esports/counter-strike-android/?fb-=es YouTube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWx6_jLia4Y (Video belongs to Neloyow Aguilar)

Hello everyone, I've been trying to set up a packet prioritisation for Counter-Strike Global Offensive during the last couple of weeks. The situation is: I have a 16/1 ADSL Connection in Germany. (ADSL 2+ (ITU G.992.5) Annex J) Alltrough my family uses it for video streaming and video communication almost all the time. My router is an AVM Fritz!Box 7362SL (Country Variant from my Provider = device is loan by the ISP) and my PC is connected trough WLAN (n) to it. I set up the following destination port ranges for a rule. UDP 27000-27030 UDP 3478 UDP 4379-4380 UDP 1200 TCP 27014-27050 And applied it for real time routing prioritization (the same rule as for IPTV or VOIP). There are 2 other options: prioritised and background. Alltrough my latency was improved significantly, sometimes i get a high packet loss. This means that the connection breaks for a second, reasulting an annoying gaming experience. ex.: The enemy comes around a corner and suddenly you are dead. Is it possible, that the packet loss is generated by my router during the packet inspection? Or that skype interferes with the ports of Counter-Strike? How could I overcome this situation without using a brandwith limitation or a cable connection? If you need more information, or having a similar situation, please comment below. Thanks for helping me.

Hello everyone. I play CS:GO and I want to increase performance of my PC. Particularly I want to achieve stable 200 FPS. Why would I need that? Well, the answer is simple - I am going to use 144hz monitor, and I don't want my FPS drop below 150 in smoke/he etc. My settings are all low/very low with 1600x900 resolution. With my current setup I have ~115 FPS on Dust2 and around ~60-70 FPS in smoke/he. My current setup is: i5-650 (3.2mhz with hyper-threading 2/4) Acer Aspire M5811 motherboard 8gb 1333hz RAM. MSI GTX 750Ti OC (not overclocked) I have tested my setup with 3 different GPU's on my PC (same map and settings): - GT320 ~80 FPS - GT720 ~95 FPS - R7 250x ~110 FPS - GTX 750Ti ~115 (currently running on it) As you can see, switching from ancient GT320 to modern GTX750ti only increased my FPS from 80 to 115. I saw many videos on youtube where people are testing GTX 750Ti in CS:GO and they always get more than 150+ FPS on even higher settings. But they were using 4th generation i5 and i7 CPU. The question is - what should I upgrade? Obviously I will need to upgrade my CPU and motherboard. But which one do I need? Would I need 4-core 3.2mhz 2nd generation processor, or should I look for 3rd or even 4th generation i5? Also my GPU is using 3.0 PCI-e slot while my motherboard supports only 2.0. I heard that this might decrease my GPU performance, but not for more than 5-10 FPS. Please help. I have some money to spend on upgrade, but I don't want to invest much money in brand new i5/i7 just for playing CS:GO, I am pretty OK with older used models. Better get new monitor and nice keyboard/mouse Thank you in advance!

Hi all, so after a few hundred hours in CS:GO and the knowledge of the Elo system and roughly how it works, I'm curious as to how it places players into Skill Groups. I know that it takes pretty much everything into account, your current Elo rank along with the opposing players' Elo ranks are as well. But is there any information about the range of the ranks or the "worth" of individual elements (kills, deaths, plants, assists, defuses etc.)? Also, let me know what rank you guys are, and how many wins you have, if you are comfortable with doing so. I myself am MGE currently, with 79 wins, I should be back to DMG soon, and hopefully I'll stay in there for more than a day this time... Cheers!

In my new pc I have got csgo on a HDD which was in my old system. If I run the game it connects to steam, but the VAC insecure mode thing pops up. I have tried adding the game to my steam library and launching it from that but it doesn't seem to make any difference. How can I fix this without having to re download the game as I have very slow internet. thanks

Cloud 9 and Virtus.Pro are coming to Melbourne Australia, along with many other teams for the first ESL tournament in Australia. They will be playing for a prize pool of $55,555 Australian Dollars. Yes, this is an ESL tournament so expect it to be on twitch.tv world wide. I can't wait, I live close to Melbourne and will definitely be going to support my favourite team, Cloud 9! https://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/entertainment/live-theatre/counter-strike-invitational EDIT: Lots more information on the reddit post about this. www.goo.gl/oS3tGb

I'm having a hard time choosing what mechanical keyboard I should buy. I've been using a membrane for over 7 years so I think It's about time for a change. I'm playing a lot of Counter-Strike (especially CS Source) and I do a lot of bunnyhopping and longjumping which means that I need to mash my A and D keys quite fast. I think MX Red switches would suite my playing style quite well. I really don't care about LEDs I just need the keyboard to be durable and not a tenkeyless. If you think you know a good one for me then please let me know. Thanks in advance
