Don't get me wrong, I'm a PC gamer- I game on a laptop until I can build my first PC (Soon). But why is every console killer priced at £400 or so? I know there are so many benefits too a pc, but trying to convince someone on a extremely low budget to build a £400 new parts build can be a little hard when a brand new Xbox or PS4 is £200. Using something like a dirt cheap Celeron and R7 250 2gb GDDR5 and 8gb ram for £200-250, you could get 30fps 1080p medium in nearly every game, with all the added benefits of the pc platform like free online, more games and upgradability, without buying used parts.

Alright, Here is the plan. I have an extra 1080 sitting around that needs to be put to work. I'm wanting to make a tiny build similar to the one Linus made. But i'm not sure if there are going to be any limitations since I will be using a 1080 in it. Is there anything I should steer away from for this build or will a tiny ASRock H110M-ITX do good enough? I'd be glad to hear any ideas you have! Unlike my last build this one is going to be a little more economical. But really, suggest anything that is small form factor. Thanks PCMR Brothers! Anyone got some good recommendations for Mini-ITX / Micro-ATX cases? I really want it to look like a game console, so it will look nice under my bedroom TV. I'm planning on using a EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Mini for graphics, so clearance isn't an issue. Mini-ITX is favorable. MY LIST SO FAR: Fractal Design Node 202 Realan Aluminum Thin DAN Cases A4-SFX

Since the 1050 Ti released today I tried to make a PC that would put the consoles to shame at the same price point with a high quality look so I came up with this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/TMMFXH I tried to go for a white build but you can also get the case in black for the same price.(Improvement suggestions welcomed remember it needs to be around the same price) a PS4 costs around £300 in UK.

i am trying to build a new pc for 1080p60fps in ALL TRIPLE A GAMES. I don't care about looks or anything i just need the lowest price you guys can make.

Hi guys, I am planning to get one of those case soon. I got a pretty good Case and SFx psu bundle deal for RVZ 02. I prefer the look of node 202 but it won't affect my choice(maybe?) as I will hide the case behind the monitor. Also I am leaning toward node 202 as it has more building videos of it. My only concern is the cooling performance of the case. I saw some posts on reddit stating that RVZ02 has better cooling but node202 can mount extra two case fans making node202 ultimately a cooler case. Is it true? I need some impressions from the case owners.

Hi, so I came across this one build on this one blog. Is this build worth building? Or is there some stuff I could change to it? http://madeoftech.com/2017/10/11/500-console-killer-gaming-pc/

So this build log is probably being wrote all at once... I'll not post pictures to this post, i'll try keep this short.. I've allways liked how playstations look like (except ps3), especially older version of playstation 2 (fat ps2). On this mindset i started to think could i maybe build HTPC inside a PS2? Few weeks later i found myself searching for good condition ps2's as used and managed to find 2 ''mint'' condition ones for 20€ (phew this build is going to be expensive ). After couple months i found time to play more with this project idea, tinkering and measuring resulted positive mindset ''This is possible!''. I was wondering about HTPC, hmm it should play 1080p movies and be silent and stuff.. I went and bought Noctua NH-L9x65 and NH-L9i MSI H97i AC ITX motherboard (lga 1150) PicoPSU Had G3250 laying around, ye i'll use that. Ended up to OC it to maximum and switching it to other system to continue OC much as i could. ''Hmmh what could i use now?'' ''hmmh i have this 4690k i'll give it a shot''- i thought. 4690k 4000MHz, Core voltages 0.964v 100% stable Temps? Noctua cooler recomended for something around 65w, 4690k TDP is 88w. ''I have 4690k on my system, this is not HTPC anymore... I need a GPU'' GTX 750ti sure i can fit that, if i cant Dremel will help. I ended up to modding my Gigabyte GTX 750ti, because best size and cooler i could mod to fit. Okay. At that point my idea had gone through evolution from HTPC--->Lan PC. As CS:GO player ''how many fps?'' 175-400 1920x1080 max settings (except the bad ones) TODO list Mounting all Cooling all Build front USB 3.0 to work on original usb spot Working original power/reset button with original LEDS Print covers for controller plug holes and other stands Stand for console, similiar to original one. For power i ended up modding Dell-Da02 power brick from old office pc's. Had wierd problems with Pico and had to add some capasitors. RAM some low profile kingston. First i was planning to use Noctua fans, but their brownish color theme really did not fit, so changed them to Corsair QE SP120mm's. Plan was to make it stand (like it should) and fans could be on backside ''hidden''= maintaining the original look. Part list: Intel i5 4690k at 4GHz MSI H97i ac (overclocking enabled) Kingston low profile ram 2x4GB was plan but only had 2x2GB. Going to upgrade this most likely. PicoPSU + Dell DA02 Power brick Gigabyte GTX 750ti Noctua L65i CPU cooler Corsair SP120mm QE Case: Playstation 2 FAT At this point, i will let the videos do the demonstration. Please let me know your thoughts and questions, i really enjoy explaining and answering!

I am looking to start building my first PC, I have a budget of $3600 AUD and will be using this PC for playing most AAA games, I aim to be able to play most games on max settings with high FPS. I don't plan on streaming or doing any content creation just gaming. I prefer to go with Intel specifically the 8700k but I will also consider a Ryzen build with the 2700x if it meets the same performance as an Intel build for gaming. In the build I would like to include the 1080 Ti, preferably the Zotac AMP Extreme, I also want to include as much RGB as possible and will go slightly over the budget for more RGB if necessary. In terms of peripherals I will be needing a keyboard, preferably from Corsair or Logitech and a monitor with a high refresh rate, if 4k is cheaper then I am willing to go for a 4k monitor otherwise I am happy with 1080p 144hz if 1440p 144hz and 4k 60hz is too expensive. I will not be needing a mouse as I already have the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum. Main things: - $3600 budget - 8700k or 2700x - 1080 Ti - Peripherals needed - LOTS OF RGB, EVERYWHERE!!! Thanks for any help and suggestion.

i need help choosing parts for a $500 PC. I use ubuntu so i don't need to pay for an OS, also i already have RAM and storage. I would like it to be as small form factor possible, micro ATX or smaller

I need some ideas and opinions on my build... I want to stay below the $1000 range when it comes to price and I want to have an m-itx form factor so it can be hauled around when I have potential LAN parties with friends this build will be used with emulators like dolphin, ppssxx (or whatever the ps1 emulator is named), the ps2 emulator, ppsspp, some kind of mame emulator, fightcade, and others that I don't have on the mind at the moment I want to use media apps like kodi/xbmc, plex, netflix, and my own dvds and of course steam for my pc gaming needs so suggestions on how I can make my build better while staying below the limit will be appreciated http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cLhkd6

I want to build a console killer for 400$ that won't have a big case(be as small and out of the way as possible). I need a parts list for this system. This system will go underneath the TV in my living room as a media center and gaming area. So I do not want the case to be big or get in the way. I have a budget of 400$ on this build, which is what the consoles cost most of the time. All an all, a mini ITX build with a 400$ budget that is better than the Xbox one or ps4, do not include the price of an OS and I won't be using SSD's. If anyone can put together a parts list that they would choose I would love it!!! Thank You!!!

Alright guys so I've been doing a little bit of research for the past couple of weeks on diy pc building and I'm really interested in it. I've always been interested in building one, just never had the time or the money. I was wandering if anyone could give me an idea of how good the computer components I have been looking are and whether or not they are compatible. I would also appreciate it if anyone could give me an estimation on how efficient these components will be for gaming. I will be playing games like team fortress 2, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 so It would really help if anyone could tell me if the components I have chosen will be up to par for these games. Here are the components. Components: Rosewill Computer Case - CHALLENGER - ATX Mid Tower - Black, Gaming - Three Included Fans - Two Extra Side Fans Supported GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz (4.1 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W FD6300WMHKBOX Desktop Processor EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti SC 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card 02G-P4-3753-KR HyperX FURY 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory Model HX316C10FB/8 WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX - OEM Standard Return Policy EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready I'm obviously on a budget and I'm trying not to break the bank. If anyone can give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. -greaser561

After stumbling across Linus' channel I realise what an idiot I was for buying a console. Now I a planning a Gaming PC build. Requirements: $300-$400 USD 1080p-1440p single monitor Gaming and light programming SSD ATX/micro ATX/mini ITX I'm prepared to by parts second hand and I'm prepared to pay for peripherals and a monitor separately. I'm grateful for all feedback

I recently built a 'stealth pc' inside an original Xbox case, I am fully aware that there are many neater mods with the same theme out there, however I still think my build is pretty good for a low end machine, the full parts list is included in the linked video. I really just wanted a discussion about the merits of the 750 Ti, a powerful card that can make any small form factor PC into a semi-decent gaming rig. Is there anything that can compare to this amount of GPU power in such a low power format? It was the only card that would work in my build and give me decent frames on modern titles. Any criticism of this build is welcome, I am not necessarily talking about style as I didn't have access to great tools etc, but could I have used better / different parts to get good performance at an affordable price and within the size confines of an Original Xbox? Here is the vid showing it off: P.S I loved the Linus build in the fallout 4 bomb, and would love to see them do a build inside a games console, just one a bit better than mine!

Im currently looking at building a console sized machine I can game on while im away for 6 months. Its currently a toss up between either an a10 6800K black edition or an i5-4690K. It will be used with a 970 and only on a 1080p TV so im wondering will i be better off with the APU in terms of price to performance? If anybody is interested it will be going in either rvz01 or rvz02 (if its released in time) p.s. I fully intend to sell the build when I get back as I have no other use for it. TIA

Hi im new to the forum i would like to call linus out for this one. I remember seeing the console killer case by lian li and linus wasnt impressed with cooling. I have scratch build a pc case smaller than the lian li and smaller than the xbox one console. I would like to share my take or even have it reviewed if at all possible by a profesional like yourself. It has room for 3 2.5" hdd a bluray odd and a r9 290x and curently has amd apu 7850k just temporary. I nailed the cooling and would like to share my plans and pics with linus im not ready to just put it out there and have my design copied. My inspiration was that i wanted a gaming pc that looked like a console and not look like a pc.currently this is my 3rd prototype and its clear acrylic i have cosmetic work like paint left to do but clear you can see how it is made. Thanks for your time and hope to hear from you. I decided to add a sneak peak pic next to my ps4 i use it horizontally but it can be used both way and standing up hides my design elements
