It was backlight bleed as it didn't improve from different distances, angles or brighter room. Additionally the bleed is visible during normal content as a washed out color area forms where the bleed is strongest, meaning it doesn't depend on the content on screen, which is the backlight. See my last comment for the full explanation and image. Unfortunately I'm not at home but as soon as I'm back I'll add more photos. So last week I decided to buy this 2023 LG GP95RP-B 400 nits IPS (on the left, while on the right is a Samsung G3 VA 250 nits) that retailed for 650+ EUR and I got it for 485 form LG itself. Colors, brightness, contrast...all is good, except for the IPS glow, which is too strong even with my 2000nits lightbulb. In the photo you can see the glow in the corners, the areas where it's darker is just Local Dimming, which gives a good black level, whereas with LD off the entire screen looks like those corners and it's unbearable. It's a pretty uniform bad glow and even getting farther doesn't do much. My Legion 5 15ARH7H 300 nits IPS is magnitudes better, so much so that I watch movies on it. Even my cheapo Dell S2319H form 2018 has lower IPS glow. Could it be a bad run? Should I ask for a replacement? Thank a lot, really appreciate.

So I just bought the Alienware AW2723DF monitor with IPS panel. I wanted to test the colors and backlight bleed with the build in diagnostic tool and when I put the image to black I see a lot of backlight bleed from all over the monitor. Should I replace the monitor for a new one or is that amount of backlight bleed considered normal? The reddish spot in the top middle of the screen doesn't look so bad in real life, but it still has a white glow.

I bought this Asus ROG G14 on Best Buy due to the sale. Is this amount of backlight bleed normal, should I get it replaced. This is actually an exchanged unit. Previously I had an open box unit but it had a rattling trackpad and 8% battery wear. So after I saw the sale, I exchanged it for this sealed box one. But I guess this also has issues.

Hi . I recently bought a new monitor (Dell S2731HN) . When I used it I noticed that my blacks look kinda grey . Changing the spectrum range to full instead of limited fixed this and the color on it looks great . I am however seeing some wierdness with the brightness on it . It looks like its unevenly lit but when I move my head left and right it seems like the brightness shifts across the screen . I did lower my brightness to 45% but it still does the same. There is a tiny bit of backlight bleed on the bottom corners but I wouldn't say its abnormal . Is this a normal thing for this specific monitor ? (Taking pictures of it doesn't help because the camera doesn't seem to pick up this issue it just looks normal on photos)

Hello, I recently bought this 2021 Asus Rog Zephyrus G15 from Best Buy and I got it for $1650 on sale. Here is the link to what I got. It has a RTX 3070, Ryzen 9, 16gb of RAM, and 1tb of storage. I noticed this laptop has a minor clicking sound when the fan spins slowly and it has some backlight bleed. I'm new to gaming laptops and never really knew what backlight bleed is until now. I included two pictures, one from inside a game and another from the backlight bleed test. On the backlight bleed test, the large pink spot isn't actually on the monitor, that's just the picture. The bleed is on the bottom right corner and bottom left. Is this really bad or are most other ones going to be worse? Should I exchange it and try to get a better one or is this one not that bad? Thank you.

Hey guys, So I just picked up the Viewsonic XG2703-GS and I am worried about the backlight bleed / glow. I don't have a fantastic camera but I tried to take some shots of it. It picks it up but definitely exaggerates the effect. Admittedly it isn't to noticeable while playing a game but I watched a movie on it tonight and in rather black scenes was evident. Just wondering if you think its acceptable or worth RMA. Cheers

Hello I've just bought a DELL U2717D. Very happy with the colours and the size. However as usual there is IPS glow and backlight bleed. I was wondering if my panel has a normal amount of backlight bleed. I have the feeling there's a lot of backlight bleeding. It's visible when using the screen in the evening with dark backgrounds. Pictures https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qzdO7a2BVY--1DE6S10k-0fQxx4Pv95OkA/view?usp=sharing (50% screen brightness) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TElCu8dQtFqRerl2i8Xp5L0xtZZ_Zu5ciQ/view?usp=sharing (75% screen brightness) The white spot on the screen is my cursor. -- Thanks UPDATE: The images highlight the bleeding much more then in reality.

Hey My first PG279Q had backlight-bleed so I sent it back and got a new one from the retailer. I've just discovered that this new one has it too, so I'll be sending it back soon. How common is this? And take a bet on how many times I'll be sending it back before I get one without it.

Hey! Exacly 2 weeks ago I bought my first IPS monitor, I think I don't have any backlight bleeding or I just can't notice it, but the thing I saw in black image is the "big" light at the bottom right corner, if I'm not wrong its IPS glow since when I move my head more to the right the light dissapears and I can see full black. I really want to know if someone can help and tell me if this is normal or I got a bad example. Today is the last day to use the 14 days satisfaction purchase.... I was going to ask this whole thing long time ago but I didnt had internet until today sick. Thanks everyone.

Recently bought a benq 2730. It's 27 inch 1440p and 144z. There is a blue glow coming from the bottom bezel after it warms up. I got a replacement and the exact same thing occurs. As soon as it gets warm blue bleed/light comes from the edge. And when it gets hotter it rises vertically more. It gets about to 1cm thick from the bottom bezel. Anyone else got this Montior ?

Hi guys, I think i want to buy myself a new monitor. For now I have Iiyama B2712HDS monitor, I'm pretty sure it's TN and i think i like its colors and else, but I have this whim to buy something with 120Hz or more, and with WQHD resolution. I watched some I thought good monitors, with IPS panels, but all of them which have right specs do suffer from backlight bleed. I need advice about if there is a TN monitor, which has great colors and all of these things which i mentioned. Please give me some examples.

Hi Guys, So i’ve just bought a Samsung C27FG73 which i really liked because of the vibrant colors of the quantum dot technology and something weird is with my monitor. The backlight bleed seems to be only at the borders of the monitor, I have attached an image for you guys to see. What is actually weirder is that these borders only appear when i higher the refresh rate of the monitor which means of the monitor is on 60Hz these border/edges backlight bleed fade like they’re not there. I have no idea if this is normal but it is actually bothering me and I’m thinking of returning the monitor. Waiting for replies :) Ps. The first picture is what it looks like from my camera the second one is what it looks like in reality.

hi, I just recently bought the Alienware m15 with gtx 1070 maxq and i7 8750h. it was great until when I head on to edit some photos for my university and edit some videos for personal project when I realized that the 4k display doesnt seem to display black quite right. it was only with black colours and it was fine on other colours (picture was taken on a Galaxy Note 9 inside a pitch dark room). is this backlight bleed or some other problem? and can I file for warranty or should I just suck it up? thanks by the way

Straight to the questions: Is this normal bleed level for TN panel or model dell s2719dgf? (pictures 2 to 7) Should I return it and get another one or some other model? More info: I have used manual mode while taking pictures and then compared them to the live seeing, they are at least 85% accurate to the in person viewing. Nothing is as important to me as black levels. I just can't wait for micro led... I had hp pavilion 32 and it was awesome in terms of blacks. Unfortunately 32" were just too much and it had terrible grainy matte finish. Now I wanted to finally switch to 144hz, so naturally I wanted a VA panel. On the last picture you can see what I've got... Disaster... I have not used TN in 7 years so I thought of giving it a try. Read that dell s2719dgf Is one of the best TN panels around so I bought it. Resolution is like perfect for me with ~109ppi. 144Hz is amazing. Design and build are godly. Colors easily match my asus vc279h IPS which is beyond cool. It has gorgeous thin mate finish. Basically this monitor would be my dream one if the blacks were black. But that is not the case as you can see on pictures.

Hello, I have purchased a new laptop. This is an Asus Vivobook with IPS 1920x1080 display. I have noticed that on black backgrounds I notice backlight bleed. I don't think my eyes can perceive it on any other color, for now I see it when powering it on, on the top black stripes in Netflix, for instance. One of these picture was taken at 100% brightness in the dark, and the other at 50%. I should add that the spot I'm talking about is at the top left. There is another small one at the bottom right but it is less noticeable. The other glowing parts are either IPS glow or bleeding that is not perceivable. I'd like to know what you'd do about it, the odds of getting a worse display, things like that. I don't have tons of experience with these displays. Thank you!

This is my third AOC AG271QG (27" IPS 165Hz 1440p G-SYNC) monitor. Backlight bleed strikes again! The first two were from February 2018, this latest one is from March 2018. Different retailers each time. At least this latest time around I paid only £549 instead of £630 like the first two times. At this point it's clear that they are all like this with only very minor variances between them. So not sure what to do now. The ASUS PG279Q, Viewsonic XG2703-GS and Acer XB271HU all have deeper stands than this AOC (which already feels a bit cramped on my small desk), are more expensive in the case of the first two and from my online research they all have this same backlight bleeding issue anyway. Already tried the Dell S2417DG which I also returned because of very bad colour artifacting in darker shades, so I'm ruling out TN. Meanwhile, 27" 16:9 1440p VA options lack G-SYNC and have the same problem where the stands are a bit too deep (Samsung CHG70 and MSI MAG27CQ/MPG27CQ) in addition to their own QC issues regarding ghosting. I feel I've been backed into a corner here with almost no options left. Is there anything I can do to minimise the effect of the bleed such as bias lighting? Does it tend to fade over time like some people have claimed online? Should I try to learn to live with it? Would appreciate any thoughts on what my next course of action should be.

I returned my first AOC AG271QG IPS monitor because of bright pixels and backlight bleed. I've just received a second today and sure enough... backlight bleed. However, I can't see any dead or bright pixels on this one so that's an improvement. Here's some photos I took just now of the backlight bleed: Here's an image at 100% brightness. And here's one at 50% brightness. And finally here's one at 0% brightness. Is the above bleed normal for this panel? This one is no different to the first unit I tried (both manufactured in February 2018 but bought from different retailers). Is this a worthy trade off to make or should I go just give up and go with the Dell S2417DG TN monitor?

The third AOC AG271QG I've tried (the two that I already returned had similar levels of backlight bleed) is on the left side, the first Acer XB271HU I've tried is on the right side: Black screen, 50% monitor brightness, moderate ambient light in room: Video with dark scene, 50% monitor brightness, moderate ambient light in room: Video with dark scene, 50% monitor brightness, darkened room: As you can hopefully see from they photos the backlight bleed isn't as noticeable on the Acer as it is on the AOC. Is the amount of backlight bleed on the Acer as good as I can reasonably expect to get in the IPS panel lottery?

I just bought a LG 24MP88HV, the backbleed in daylight is unnoticeable but when use at night it kind of bother me. Is this acceptable ? Should i go return it ?https://imgur.com/a/QqxUU

I plan on getting a 1440p g sync monitor with at least a 145 hertz refresh rate for gaming only, the one I'm specifically looking at the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q, however there are complaints about backlight bleed from this model, but I'd it the model that is the issue or is it just a common occurrence with IPS panels? Is there a way for me to get a monitor that will fit my gaming purposes with little to no backlight bleed? Thanks.

Received a new Acer XF270HUA today - Love the monitor overall, although I have been noticing a bit of what I think is back light bleed.. Nothing to compare it to so I would appreciate your opinions as to whether its worth returning or not? Thanks correct exposure ^ Slight Overexposure ^ Auto Exposure in fully dark room
