Hey guys, I'm at university, I want to get wireless access without authentication on their end. I assume they are using some sort of LDAP or RADIUS authentication methods. (If anyone has heard of it or is from England, the educational internet at Universities is something called EDUROAM) https://www.eduroam.org/ Even though I'm using a VPN, I still have to authenticate with my username and password to access the wifi. So my question is, if I bought http://www.tp-link.sg/products/details/cat-9_TL-WR802N.html and when I'm in the library if I plugged this in and connected would it work? (at every desk there is a RJ-45 Ethernet socket) Or would the mini wireless access point be blocked? I do understand it depends on the setup at the University, but it is a large university so just imagine they are using the practices of most large enterprises. Another Question: If this would work, what MAC address would be shown on the traffic? As if it would be the devices connected to the mini access point, then I assume they'd be able to identify it was me with the access point. As also assuming my phones, MAC address will have been logged to my username?

Hey all, I'm having an issue getting my Thunderbird profile to work on my Macbook. I copied the profile folder from my Windows computer so I can keep my email archives and filter settings. After editing the Profile.ini file to point to the new folder, I launched Thunderbird on my Macbook and tried to sign back into my email accounts - Gmail and another IMAP provider. At this point, Thunderbird showed an "IMAP authentication failure" message for GMail after the login window accepted both my password and my two factor key. The other IMAP provider account kept asking for my password after ticking the "Save password" check box and would not display the contents of any of my emails. Anyone know what's happening here? I've copied over profiles in the past successfully, so I don't know what's happening here.

I have used Telegram messenger for some time, but then switched to Signal messenger and for some time I have been thinking about the authentication method that these messengers use. The only way to authorize yourself is to send your phone number to the server and receive an SMS with a code and then confirm that you own this phone. It kind of bothered me that the messengers that promote security and privacy require to authenticate yourself with the phone number. As far as I understand, a service provider becomes a back door for the messenger since it could “clone” the phone number, get the SMS and retrieve the history of the messages. Am I missing something from the picture, or is it really a security problem?

Hey ya'll, At work I have to set up a small LAN for a small exercise, so no internet. We are using old government Windows laptop that work fine, but their image is more restrictive than a regular consumer laptop. I am an administrator so I am able to change anything. I just need to know where to look. So I set up an FTP for people to drop off and edit documents, but I am unable to authenticate. I made a rule that any user can access the FTP, but I haven't had any luck. Seeing if it was user error, I followed the same steps I found online on my computer and was able to get the FTP up. I suspect that there is a group policy that is preventing me from authenticating from the local user accounts bank, but I don't know where to look. I am open to what anyone thinks on here. Thanks.

So I am trying to make a code that will allow user names and passwords to be entered in a file separated by a comma and a space then when the user enters their username and password in to be authenticated. But if it doesn't not exist then the the username is added to the system along with a typed in password. Also once they are authenticated, the username is assign to a variable. This will then repeat for a second user. So it's a weird place to ask help for uni assignments but I'll give it a shot. I have to find and describe 3 authentication methods that are supported by windows server 2008.Pretty stupid question I know . Can someone point me to an article , or a post or at least hit something. I've been googling around and managed to find some things but not for server 2008. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc995189.aspx found that but no idea if that is what I need.

I've got a network here which uses certificates on both wireless and wired for computer or user authentication. For the Surface Hub I generated a computer certificate and installed it (with the right chain) on the surface hub using a provisioning package.The Surface Hub is running verion 10.0 (build 15063) of windows 10 Team (it had the update for 1703) so it should allow for 802.1x authentication on wired networks and this should be enabled by default. But I've got some problems.- I can connect to the wireless network, but it doesn't connect to the wired network. We checked the connection itself and that's not the problem. We checked with the authentication server and it returns an error which says it's using the wrong authentication protocol on the wired connection.The device was delivered without the 1703 update so we tought maybe the setting wasn't enabled yet so we did a reset of the device but this also removed the 1703 update and we can't seem to find how to revert it to default settings without removing the update.The envirioment here is a hybrid SCCM\Intune envirioment but doesn't support modern devices yet and we only have 2 surface hubs so we prefer not to have to intaller 3 or 4 new roles in the SCCM system just for these 2 devices, but this doesn't let us change the setting for the 802.1x authentication as it seems this can only be changed by MDM and not by provisioning packages.If someone has some tips or solutions for me I would be gratefull as it's now blocking our tests.

So I'm trying to use the mobile network while abroad and it stopped Whenever I try to use it I get a message when opening safari: could not activate mobile data network - PDP authentication failure Other apps just say that there is no internet connection. I tried resetting the network settings but that didn't help.

I have a web app which requires JWT authentication, so I made a start on working with Firebases php-jwt library. None of what Ive read in this article replicates in this code but Im still very wary. So basically in a little bit I will be building a computer. I currently own a laptop with windows 8.1. If I were to upgrade to windows 10 I could transfer the OS to the new computer, however I will be giving someone else the laptop. If I take windows 10 off the laptop will one of the versions be unauthenticated? I heard that even illegitimate copies of windows 7 and 8 will be getting a free upgrade to windows 10. If I transfer the 8.1 OS to the new system and one of the OS's are illegitimized by this, could I upgrade to windows 10 to get a full legit copy? Any explanation of the USB installation process could help as well.

I have this on a customers machine and have no idea what the hell it is and how to get rid of it!!! I cant reset the passwords using the Microsoft SAM files in password reset disks and it's coming up in Safe Mode as well, I've tried googleing shit and it's not disappearing! or going and it's doin my nut in! The computer is Windows XP It apparently has Kaspersky on it, but not sure if Kaspersky will do this.
