Hey, I have a problem with my PC. It's not easy to describe but the entire audio from my system is broken. I hear constant, kind of "electric" buzzing through my headphones (it's quite loud) and whenever I launch a game, every few seconds the audio cuts off entirely for half a second and then returns at 100% volume (even though Windows still says it's only at 20% or so). It fixes itself when I change the volume up and down again but then it starts happening again 10 seconds later. Sometimes, it stops happening after 10 minutes or so, and sometimes the audio breaks completely (i.e. it goes completely quiet) and I have to restart my PC (when this happens, my PC also partially freezes for multiple seconds at a time, until I restart it). Additionally, I've noticed that every time the audio acts up, the LEDs on my PC case start to flicker. Like, it coincides absolutely perfectly, so I guess it's related? Could this be the power supply? I've attached a video of it. The LEDs pulsate slowly, that's normal, but now they additionally flicker. What I've tried so far Multiple headphones (3.5mm jack connectors). Buzzing happens with all of them I tried using the headphone jacks from the mainboard, the PC case and I tested two separate USB sound cards in different USB ports. The problem occurs the same with all of them I checked for driver updates, disabled the audio devices, restarted, enabled them again I also checked for Windows updates I played with every audio setting I could find, including disabling Windows audio enhancements, "exclusive access" and basically all other stuff I could find in the properties I opened the PC and checked every single connection and cable I could find, there's nothing loose I completely reset the SSD and reinstalled a fresh Windows My PC (it's a pre-built system I bought ~4 years ago. Had not problems until now) Case: Sharkoon RGB Flow with glass window (ATX) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6x 3.80 GHz 95W GPU: 8 GB AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT PowerColor Dual RAM: 16 GB DDR4 G.Skill Aegis black DIMM Kit 3000 MHz (2x 8 GB) Mainboard: ASRock B450M Pro4-F (Chipset: B450 / m-ATX) SSD: 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe x4 Intel 660p NVMe SSD Power supply: 600 watts be quiet! System Power B9 80+ Bronze Windows 11 I really don't know what else I could try. Has anyone any ideas what the cause of this might be or what steps I could take to further debug this? good night to whom reads this. i bought a soundcard as u can see in the title, but the thing is that even tho i installed the driver and all it doesnt give sound to all speakers in my setup, which worked b4 i added the card. and why it is like that and how i can fix the issue

Hi I am looking for a program to play PDF's or E-book to mp3 or other sound file. Either to just convert them to either just a sound file (i.e. mp3) or just to due it in real time . Ideally I like it to be a converter then just play but either is fine. Thanks in advance

Hey guys I have just made a new PC so I want the old one to be my streaming Pc. I really need some help here. I have looked at so many videos and no one helps me to solve my problem. My audio now works from my gaming pc to my streaming but it only goes in one line so I can not separate my mic and my sound. Here is what I have done: My capture card is on my streaming and the hdmi in the capture card is in my gaming pc. My goxlr (for my mic only) is in my gaming pc. My headset is wireless and the usb to the goes into my gaming pc and the headset is a Logitech g pro x lightspeed I think it's called and I use steelseries sonar for that. Hi there hope u doing good, right now I'm trying to get into some better headphones. I looked around and found the company beyerdynamic. I'm not sure if i'm even settled on the DT990 Pro's (250 Ohm version), i'm still looking so if you got some better for under 200 Euros please tell me. I'm into gaming but i also wanna listen to music and watch movies so Sound is really important for me so i hope they work for that. They also should be a little bit durable because sometimes my Headset falls of my desk... Like i said i have the MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI as a Motherboard, it says it can do over 600 Ohms but i'm not sure if it will sound good and if it's gonna have much disturbance. I hope i don't need a Headphone Amplifier but if u got one for a good price please also tell me (Soundcard also works). But if it works good without one on my motherboard it would be really cool. I'm sorry i really am new to Audio things so i'm not quiete sure how it all works. If i decide for these headphones i would probably need a new mic so if you got a good standing mic which isn't as expensive like 60 euros or a bit more also tell me. All comes down to how much the headphones cost because i got like about 250 euros in total to spend on things :3. I'm currently on a HyperX Cloud Alpha it's good but i want something better so yea :D. I hope my English wasn't the worst, it's not my Motherlanguage and it's also pretty late for me right now. Hi, I have an ACER TravelMate B117 laptop. There used to be kubuntu on it. Suddenly the audio wasn't working anymore. I couldn't solve the problem in any way. I installed Debian, then Ubuntu, hoping I would find more answers to my problem. I did with ubuntu. None worked. Does anybody have any idea about what I could do? There just is no audio. Everything else works fine. Maybe another issue is that every now and then I see a No Bootable Device message when I turn on my computer. So I have to access the BIOS and switch from UEFI to Legacy and it starts working again. Always without audio. Thanks in advance

Hi Folks, I've got High Quality 500+ movies on my USB Hard Disk, and I'm planning to buy an AV Receiver (For e.g. Yamaha RX-V6A) to play them. The end goal is to build a home theatre. What will be the best way to play/stream my movies? I have a 65" 4K Google TV (Sony X82L), and a high end PC (AMD 7800 X3D CPU + AMD 7900 XTX GPU). I researched a lot, but I didn't find a proper solution. I don't know if I should build a Jellyfin media server on my old laptop or is there some other way to play the movies using the AV Receiver. im on windows 11, front IO randomly stopped working, but earbuds work perfectly fine in the back motherboard IO, I never unplugged them from the front. After I restarted my PC, it just stopped working, any ideas

For some reason whenever I load a game and Im in a Voice chat with my friends on discord, I cant hear them anymore and my game tends to drop in fps. Not sure why this is happening, Ive tried going through bios and overclocking my ram and changing some setting in the pc but its not working, this all happend after I fixed one of my past issues and after I resetted my pc. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue im having? PS. I have a 3070 and a intel i512400F with 32GB Ram

Hi I recently got a SM58 with a M-Audio M-Track Solo, the interface is picking up the sound from the microphone but my pc doesnt pick up the microphone sound. I checked everything, I reinstalled drivers, its the same Channel same Hz, I have it connected, reconnected so many times, restarted my pc but there is NO sound. I have a headset connected to my pc with USB wireless. I got a B550-A Motherboard

I'm not very technical and just looking for some friendly pointers. If my inquiry seems too ridiculous, I apologize for wasting your time. Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my home theatre system since I recently upgraded my TV. I got the Sony - 65" Class BRAVIA XR A80L OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV and it's being great. With all the new bells and whistles that I have been enjoying, I decided to invest in a surround system for as well. I have only ever used Sony systems but I saw the Bose - Smart Ultra Soundbar with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant and it looks really nice. Should I go in that direction, I would also get the base module and the satellite speakers as well. So, what I really want to know is whether I will lose some functionality and I won't be able to get everything out of my TV. Eg, I think my tv has this feature where it syncs with my current sound system (Sony - HT-S400 2.1ch Soundbar with powerful wireless Subwoofer) and works with the Tv's own speakers thereby allowing it to produce sounds from even behind the screen, giving it a more cinematic feel. That's the kind of functionality I am asking about. Will I be losing some functionality like that? If that's the case, then perhaps I should just get the Sony - HT-A7000 7.1.2 Channel Soundbar with Dolby Atmos - Black which will be more expensive but I'll be staying within the same brand eco-system? Please help and thanks for your advice.

I just built a PC with a MSI B550-A pro and a generic Bluetooth adapter and I have 2 questions 1. I'm just trying to play games with my brother and I can't talk, only audio works. On the Front media panel or whatever its called(new to this PC thing) there are separate audio and microphone jacks and not a combined one. I haven't been able to input through there either. I have tried multiple ports on the front and the back, usb 2 and three. When I connect airpods or my Q20i soundcore headphones, it recognizes it as a voice and audio, then when I try to use it it doesn't work. If I test audio in windows (11) settings, It no longer recognizes it as audio. I am lost. I think its probably not a bluetooth issue but a hardware issue but who knows. 2. I do have two audio cables (one not pictured but it has an HD audio and an AC'97 and it comes from the lower header) and two other things I didnt plug into the mobo bc I couldn't find where they go and linus didn't mention them in the guide as far as I heard. The black USB and the Italian colored 5V come from the lower front media panel and the audio one comes from the upper.

I recently obtained an Acer N15Q9 Chromebook and started to play around with it. After finding ChromeOS to be a poor experience I decided to go through the whole ordeal to get Linux running on it. I used the tools and guides provided by mrchromebox to flash UEFI firmware to the device and proceeded to install Ubuntu 22.10. Everything works fine except when I try to playback audio. It will work fine for a while but then the audio playback will stop and the computed produces a harsh buzzing sound from the speakers. I believe it to be software related as video sources accompanying the audio, like a YouTube video, will stop playback and appear to buffer as this happens.The PC remains usable but until the audio source is killed the speakers continue to do this. I tried installing Ubuntu 22.04.1 as Ubuntu migrated to PipeWire in 22.10 but the issue is present there as well. Anybody got any ideas as to what could be going on?

Hi Fellow Techies I posted on the LTT Reddit but I feel like most active members are on the official forum here so apologies if this is the second time you read this. I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I recently broke my gaming headset (the Logitech G Pro X) and was thinking of making a fun repair project out of it since Logitech support is a pain in the a@# and doesn't offer any repair options. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting, different cables, software updates, different PC, tried analog instead of USB, all yielded the same result. Now I am not a professional but as a true LTT fan I diagnosed my own problem as being that my 3.5 port is most likely broken due to the forceful ejection. I want to take it to a local repair shop but I was wondering (if the problem is diagnosed correctly) how hard it would be to solder on a new port or even repair it (but for repairing I don't know what to look for) I don't really want to buy a new pair since it's such a waste cause everything worked perfectly before. Any peripheral repairers in chat? Thanks in advance for your time

Good morning, everyone I have a problem I'm hoping everyone can help me with. My girlfriend and I just moved into a new condo, and we have 2 gaming setups in 1 room. The problem is that when I talk, I can hear myself on her mic and same for her (on discord and stream labs). What is the solution for this we both have Elgato Wave 3 mics. Do we need to buy new mics or is there something we can do to make these work?

Hey, I recently resurrected my laptop from the dead with a motherboard replacement. I decided instead of installing Windows, I would try to give PopOS a proper run as a daily OS. I've been using Linux for several years as part of my web dev job so I'm certainly no noob in terms of Linux or PopOS. Everything is working perfectly fine except sound. For some reason no app or even the system will output to the internal speakers. The headphone jack works fine. I've been Googling for hours and tried many different things but no joy. I've installed the PulseAudio Volume Control app as suggested online. In the Output tab the Speakers show as unavailable. If I select them and then use the volume up and down it does output a little boop tone to indicate volume change. So, the speakers are definitely working. Using inxi -A command I can see that it is loading and using the snd_hda_intel driver. The actual audio chipset / model is Conexant CX20751/2. I've tried setting the model to generic, auto and ideapad within the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file but still nothing. The system always defaults to outputting to the headphone jack even though there's nothing connected to it. I'm really hoping there's something I can do to get the speakers working. It's a real pain and annoyance to not have any audio. I've attached screenshots showing the output of the above-mentioned apps and commands. Reading online apparently, it's to do with a change in Ubuntu where they switched from Pulseaudio to Pipewire? The laptop is a Lenovo IdeaPad 510 15ISK-80SR. It's fresh install of PopOS and fully up to date. Any ideas? I'm at a loss. Thanks Thomas

Hi, The TLDR of this is: I have TWO brand new Corsair RM1000e PSU's, both of them cause horrendous audio distortion yet very low volume on my old Z170A with 6700K. Reverting to a 650w Corsair fixes the issue EVERY single time. And the weird bit? It (They/Both PSU's!) do the exact same on another (Same model/BIOS etc) MOBO! --------------------------------- The small (Very, very weird!) story and the setup built in 2015/16?: CPU: Intel 6700K. GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X. >>> PSU: ANTEC EDGE 650W. MOBO: MSI Z170A Gaming M7. RAM: 32GB G-Skill. From when I built it, until a few months ago? All was well, but I got an itch to upgrade the GTX 1080. I bought a 3080TI for decent money and thought...I better think about a PSU upgrade, everything was ruinning great for now. Then while live streaming and going on a smoke break, I turned around to see the whole PC was completely black. Wouldn't turn on, completely dead. The PSU looked to have died, (Man, I loved that ANTEC PSU) Wasn't giving any sign of power to MOBO. Fearing the worst, I wondered if it had taken anything with it. I promptly ordered a new PSU. The Corsair RM1000e. While waiting for it to arrive, I quickly hooked up a spare corsair 650w and tested that everything was alright. Thankfully I was soon watching vids, streams, all the usual. No probs. Just no gaming. The RM1000e turned up. Fitted it. Erm...Every 3.5mm audio out jack sounded horrendous. Horrendously distorted but very, very low volume. Tried different headphones (Inc new pair), different cables. Drivers, man...the damn realtek drivers. Nothing fixes the massive distortion inc on the front headphone jack. The optical out, bluetooth, and the HDMI out audio all sound perfect. I threw the 650w PSU back in, guess what. No audio issues. Back to the RM1000e, audio issues. I requested a replacement. It arrived. Guess what? Exactly...the same issue. I now have two of them here, and both are causing this issue and I'm completely baffled. I have had the 650w IN/OUT/IN/OUT and it replicates the issue/fixes the issue every time. I then presumed it must be the MOBO. Found one used on ebay at £80 quid. It arrived today. Guess what. Yep. Having gone through the nightmare of having my PC in bits all over the house, parts everywhere...I now have a second motherboard, exactly the same model and...Yes. The issue is exactly the same! I'm so tired and confused. EDIT: Not only that, but upon plugging in mouse and keyboard, BOTH got stuck in the second MOBO. I've had this in the past with a cheap case USB port. I got one out with slipping an x-acto knife down the side, but the oither...had to break the little metal tabe off. Brilliant, £80 quid old useless MOBO an the problem still persists! I have been running at bare bones to eliminate things. Simply providing CPU power, GPU power, MOBO power. A single NVME with win10. On the second/same model MOBO, I had to screenshot all my original MOBO's BIOS, copied them to a damn USB stick, stuck em on a tablet, while throwing my CPU in second MOBOa, and then copying EVERY setting except...overclocks. Tried two different GPU's (GTX 1080/3080TI), two exact same motherboards, two brand new RM1000e power supplies. And both are causing the same issue. I am on the machine right now, using the 650w PSU but I won't risk any gaming. The audio on every output is perfect, crisp, clear and loud with this 650w unit, but of course...it's not enough to comfortably run everything. Can anybody please, please suggest what the hell's going on? I've been at this for days now. Why is the RM1000e seemingly incompatible with my setup? In fact, even a second Motherboard with different RAM, different GPU's etc etc. Is it a faulty batch? A batch of bad earths/ground? There's something that's not right

Hello everyone! I reach out to this forum to see if anyone can help me find a solution with my Xbox Wireless Headsets (that i don't have the usb that it's bought separately) and i use the headphones through my pc via bluetooth and it works well until i turn on the microphone and then all the audio i hear through it's glitching or like a popping noice (that as a note its sounds VERY DIFFERENTLY of what i record compared to what i hear) and i don't know what it is, i used it perfectly both the audio and microphone on an old laptop, now since i bought a pc i use it through a usb that can recieve a signal of bluetooth that it's the same requisit for using the headphones, the only way that the audio works normally is IF i turn off the microphone device of the wireless headset. The only that i had differently since my laptop is a new redragon camera 1080p that has integrated microphone and i don't know if that caused some missconfiguration on the setup I leave some music that i listen to that they can check how it sounds and some pictures of the devices that i have, both of them that are on are the supposedly the ones that should be on 2024-02-21-15-54-42.mp4 Sry for my broken english, im from argentina but i really do need help with this

Hi all, I'll try to keep it short but this is driving me insane. 6700K MSI Z170A GTX1080 ANTEC EDGE 650W PSU All has been fine since what 2016? Until I recently got a little needy and replaced the GTX1080 for a Gigabyte vision 3080TI. And yep, I risked the same PSU. It's been fine for a few months then the other night, boom, PC just turned off. No power, completely dead. I was thinking...well, that's probably the PSU dead, tried a spare 650w Corsair I had laying around, loosely wired up. Pefect, all weas well. SO...I ordered a new 1000w corsair ATX3.0 Corsair RM1000e (2023) PSU. Fitted it, and...Rear audio jack on motherboard very, very quiet and extremely distorted. I've stripped PC down to bare bones. Can't fix it any way at all, drivers, uninstalling devices etc...unless I plug in a spare 650w Corsair RM650 PSU?! The audio is perfect! How can a brand new PSU cause this infinitely repeatable issue? I can swap between PSU's and the issue is there/not there. All I'm powering is CPU 8 PIN, MOBO 24 PIN, 2X PCIE GPU. No SATA etc.

So recently I bought an RODE NT-usb mini, and I plugged it in, and all was working great. A couple days ago though I bought a new cable for it, so I can have better cable management, and after that my mic will barely pick up sound. It sounds normal and clear when I'm just barely touching my mic and talking, but as soon as I get more than 3 or 4 inches away it sounds dead quiet. My headset (Steelseries Arctis 7+) has a microphone, and when using that, everything works fine. I tried going back to the cable that it came with, but the issue persists even with that. I have messed with sound settings, making sure everything is set to max. I've tried various potential solutions that I've found from googling my issue a bunch, but to no avail. A couple days ago though, it started working again, and all was good, but then it went back to not functioning yesterday. Now just today, my headset mic did had the same issue, where it wouldn't pick up noise unless I was right next to it. That didn't last long though, only a couple minutes before it fixed itself. I haven't uninstalled/installed any programs that would be relevant to any of this as far as I'm aware, so I'd really appreciate it if any of y'all have any idea what's up.

Hello everyone, I recently upgraded my PC setup, moving from a mini ITX system to a larger one due to the size of my new graphics card. Along with a new case, I also decided to switch to a different motherboard. I chose to utilize a spare motherboard I had lying around, the ASROCK B550 Pro 4, which has seen previous use and worked flawlessly under my previous configuration. After reinstalling Windows and installing the necessary motherboard drivers, including the latest audio driver (Realtek_Audio(v6.0.9468.1_Nahimic)) downloaded from the ASROCK website, I attempted to connect my Logitech z407 2.1 speakers to the motherboard using the provided AUX cable, plugging it into the audio output socket on the IO plate (the one with the green circle around it). However, upon turning up the volume, all I hear is static and high-frequency garbled noise, regardless of trying other available sockets. Strangely, when I plug my Sennheiser headset into the audio plug on my Lian Li 216 case, which also uses an AUX connection, I encounter the same issue. Interestingly, I can achieve audio output if I connect my Logitech z407 speakers directly to my PC via Bluetooth. However, I'm under the impression that the audio quality via AUX should be superior to Bluetooth. So it is not something I am particularly happy with as a permanent workaround. Additionally, I primarily use a Fosi K5 Pro DAC for my headphones, connected to my PC via Type C USB at the back of the motherboard. Both this and the Logitech speakers issue seem to suggest that digital audio works fine, but there's a problem with analog connections. To rule out any issues with the AUX cable or connection, I tested it with my Steam Deck, where it worked flawlessly. Could this be a hardware problem, a software/driver issue, or something else entirely? Just upgraded my GPU (old: Asus STRIX GeForce GTX 970 4 GB, new: Asus TUF GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB) and PSU along with it to match/be ready for near-future upgrades (old: Corsair CS450M 450 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX, new: Corsair RM750e 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX). Full current build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/FTFvYN After the upgrade there's strong interferences in the audio jacks, not just a static hum, but crackles and beeps, plugging the headphone jack in/out yields a painfully loud crack. The interferences are the worst in the front panel jack (of the case), but also significant in the rear jack of the motherboard. Audio via the monitors (HDMI) is fine, as well as audio via Bluetooth. Tried moving the front panel cables away from everything else, to the point of pulling them all the way out of the case and holding them in the air, no effect. The audio connector on the motherboard sits only an inch or so above the PSU though, no other alternative. Right above it sits a PCIe Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Adapter, in case that could be relevant, but that one's not new. Put the old 970 GPU back in and the problem stayed the same. Put in the old 450W PSU back in (reusing the modular cables of the new PSU) and the issues were gone, all audio was fine. Put in the new 4070 GPU and 750W PSU again and the interferences were there again. Called the tech store and they suspected that it was probably a faulty PSU. Exchanged that, put the new one (same model) in and... same problem still. Aside from MacGyvering a PSU cover EMI shield out of tinfoil or something I'm out of ideas. Any pointers? Or are there any known news about a whole faulty batch of PSUs? Or is that model/line generally known for being not great quality? Or just higher wattage resulting in more EMI and the mobo/case connectors aren't shielded enough to handle that?

Hey everyone, So i finally decided I missed sports games enough to buy a PS5 slim. I didn't pay too much attention when I bought it but unfortunately sony in their infinite wisdom does not include a 3.5mm audio jack anywhere. In fact the only ports are USB-A, USB-C, ethernet (luckily) and HDMI.... So I piped the HDMI with video and audio signal to my monitor... which of course has no speakers because it's a gaming monitor... I thought i'd have to leave my beatuiful hifiman sundara's on the shelf and use a terrible PS5 headset everytime I used the thing until I realized my monitor has a audio passthrough... so I passed it through to my line in on my PC. With a few software tweaks things were running. I had to keep my PC on in order for the soundcard to play the audio through the speakers but at least both devices could use the same speakers. The problem is... with all these connections and chords even in a tight space the signal really loses steam... I can hear it sure but it isn't that rich beautiful audio I've become accustomed to with my Edifier MR4s for speakers and my HIFIman Sundara's. I was going to buy an amp/ dac anyways for the sundaras because they have low volume problems too... that's just due to the impedance though so I expected to have to do that. I'm wondering if it's safe to run a red and white RCA chord to RCA on the back of an amp/ dac output. Then run a RCA to 3.5mm chord from the input to connect the pc. And another aux chord from the Monitor audio passthrough to the 3.5mm input on a amp/dac and then connect the HIFIMAN Sundara's to the front headphone output weather it's quarter inch or 3.5mm doesn't matter sundara's have both. I essentially need an amp dac that can handle the input of a PS5 slim as well as the input from my PC and then output the audio signal to either the headphones or the speakers. I'll never be using the PS5 at the same time as the PC and vice versa. I'll also never need the speakers to play at the same time as the headphones... I'm just really struggling understanding all these audio things. I've also read that if you have powered speakers not bookshelf speakers like i do that you aren't supposed to run them through another amp/dac beecause it can brick them. I ordered the Fiio k5 pro which on their product page says you can run the RCA from your powered speakers to it... so idunno if that is true or not.... I'm just throughly confused and in need of tech tips. PLZ send help. BTW LTT your deskmat is awesome I love it! Thanks for getting me into PC building it's been a great hobby to get into while I heal from a car crash.

I'll try to keep this very short. I have been using Razer kraken TE headset for a while. Wanted to get in ear headphones to try out as my friend loved his. When I plug these into the 3.5 aux port on the front of my computer, the sound is clear and loud. But I wanted to use the Razer USB audio controller for the chat mixer switch. This is what causes high amounts of static, lower audio quality and distortion specifically at lower volumes. Ive changed quality settings of the output in system sounds, tried multiple usb ports. All the research and tries I have attempted are no help and I am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated :).
