So here's my situation: I recently put together a system for my wife to use, built mostly out of spare parts that used to be in my own system before some recent upgrades. The system consists of an FX 9590 on a Gigabyte 990FXA UD5-R5 with an R9 280X from XFX and a EVGA 850 G2 for the PSU all inside a Phanteks Eclipse P400S. The CPU is being cooled by a LEPA Aquachanger 240, with the radiator mounted vertically in the front of the case. Everything is working most of the time, albeit with some relatively high temps in games. After playing something like Fallout 4 for several minutes, both the CPU and GPU report temps in the low 80's in HWMonitor. However, sometimes when the system is left on for a while (and sometimes not that long) the system will just freeze. The screen stays on but the system is completely unresponsive, and desktop apps are visibly halted. Looking into this problem, I found some other people having a similar problem who fixed it by changing some BIOS settings. That was yesterday and so far the random freezing seems to have stopped, but the heat is still an issue. I had most of these components together in another case, with the radiator mounted in the top, a while back, and it was hot, but not like this. I have seen reports of this aio having problems with bubbles in the loop and I was thinking that might be a factor at play in my situation, especially since when the side panel is open I can touch the radiator and one of the hoses is significantly hotter to the touch than the other, and the top of the radiator next to that hose is hotter than the rest of the radiator. I have tried a variety on fan configurations and found the best one to be 2x 120 intake on the top of the case and 1x 120 rear exhaust, with the radiator fans acting as exhaust on the front. However, I think that even this configuration has some significant shortcomings, since the front vents on the case are relatively restrictive and are probably resulting in a significant amount of the exhaust from the radiator being pulled back in, even with the top and bottom vent covers removed from the face plate. Anyway, my main question is whether it would be a good idea to replace the aio, and if so, what would be the best option, given the restrictive front ventilation of the case and the limited placement options elsewhere in the case. I would look into getting a different case, but my wife seems rather attached to this one. I have mainly been looking at the H100i v2 or the H80i v2 from Corsair, but if there are better options, I'm open to suggestions. The consensus seems to be that the larger radiator is more effective, but I was also thinking that the H80, mounted in the rear exhaust slot would help bring down gpu temps as well, and eliminate the feedback loop of hot air from the radiator being mounted in the front. Do you guys think that the H80i v2 could handle an FX 9590 with acceptable temps? Is there something else I could do to try to bring down temps without compromising the aesthetics or dust resistance of the case?

so i was reading about the amd fx 9590. then i also read it melts motherboards so i naturally had to buy it. now i have tested this thing and it does run hot as expected. my concern is the motherboard heat from what i like to call the hot spot on my motherboard. im open to ideas on a full custom water cooling set up and case modification. any input would be greatly helpful. thanks all!!! 970a gaming pro carbon with the bios update for 220watt corsair vengeance pro 2x8 2133hmz corsair vengeance pro 2x4 1600mhz msi 1060 6gb gaming x thermal take 240 water cooling rgb water 3.0 other parts msi 990fxa g65 modified antec h20 650 water cooler

So a few years ago i bought this system when i had money come in, updated a few bits n pieces over time as money been available but always had trouble with system stability, hard crashes, blue screens, random shut offs etc. I've tried everything i can think of to try n get it to run stable, i was on an 800w PSU before but upgraded to 1000w thinking power could be the problem but no. Tried under clocking the CPU in case that was the problem but limited knowledge on the subject means i can only go so far if this is the problem. Tried manually putting timings in for my RAM but system wouldn't even boot with the timings on the side of the DIMMs. Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me crazy, Money is really tight at the moment so part swaps aren't really an option All i want is a stable system that will play WoW with decent frames and run as a media machine Complete Parts List: Case: NZXT Source 530 all Noctua 14mm fans Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 CPU Cooler; Corsair H100i V2 (Previously had NZXT Kraken X62) (Kraken died and swapping made no difference.) RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x 8GB) (previously had 16gb mushkin RAM) PSU: Corsair 1000W RM1000X (Previously had Corsair 800W, upgrade has made no difference) Storage: 250GB DrEvo SSD, 1TB Seagate Barracuda , 4TB Seagate Barracuda OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

This is The Foundry, The name is inspired by its high heat output, or supposedly high heat of the main components involved. Every single part in this build was found in one of my parts bins or was purchased used through the hardwareswap sub-reddit. Discounting the parts I had already owned previously, I spent $808 usd. About 40% of that is made up of the gorgeous Nvidia & EVGA Geforce GTX 780s, Those were originally purchased together under the assumption that both were Nvidia reference cards but upon closer inspection, only one was a reference card and the other was an EVGA unit with the same reference cooler. Not that I'm complaining, the stock cooler is beautiful and surprisingly effective at cooling these two bad boys! As for this awesome tank of a case, I had originally planned on reusing my Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mATX but when I picked up a FX 9590 for $65, I knew that whatever motherboard I picked, it was gonna be a full atx sized case so I had to find something used or a not real expensive new option. I couldn't really find something I particularly liked with good cable management so I turned to trying to find something locally. Enter the Cooler Master HAF XM. Yes, its scuffed and it shows its age but all that adds character and doesn't change the fact that it has all the right features. Tool-less drive cages that support both 3.5" drives and 2.5" drives without additional adapters, upto 4 huge 200mm fans and a single rear 140mm fan or in my particular config, two 200mm intake fans, one of which was "borrowed" the my Phantek case, the two 140 SP140L that came with the well hidden Corsair H110i GTX and a single 140mm in the back, also "borrowed" from the Phantek case. The 140s are all exhaust fans. The last key feature I desperately wanted was good cable management and this thing delivered, easily hiding all the beefy cables on that RMx 1000w. The litter shroud covering the routing to the back of the case is also a very nice touch to hide the cables. Not that anyone would see them since it lacks a window of any kind, which suits me just fine. With the FX 9590 comes the requirement of a beefy vrm on the motherboard. Originally I had planned on picking up a Asus Crosshair V for $150 but it had been sold before I got to it. Sad day but I found a Sabertooth R2 which is only a step down from the Crosshair V and I got it for a decent bargain with a 16GB kit of ram. It took me about a month to pull together all the parts but it was well worth the wait for this. I still need to fine tune it to get the full potential out of the 9590 and the 780s but even as is, the performance was actually better than I was expecting and at 1080p, those 780s can trade blows with the 980 and even trail a 1070 at half the price! (for now, the prices may be coming down soon!) The only downside I for see, aside from the usual problems with sli (which I hope to mitigate with some tinkering in Nvidia Inspector), is gaming at 1440p. The 3GB of vram that's available is gonna struggle in certain games but that'll be an issue for a later date when I upgrade my aged Asus VK248H-CSM. Its served me well for the past 4 years but now its time for an upgrade that will likely come this summer. I was eying something like this guy but I may try and find something for a little less or maybe snag something during the 4th of July sale that will inevitable happen. I'll post a few benchmarks and temps later after I finish tuning up the 9590 and dial in a comfortable OC on the 780s. FYI, that's my discord. I had entered Scattervolt's Super Smash Builds contest and it was one of the requirements. Dragon was added for some bonus points. c:

So been trying to get my PC to optimal temps over the last couple weeks. So at idle it runs 35c-40c yet at max load it runs over 80c+ with the cooler maxed out. I have reapplied thermal paste, and made sure cooler is positions properly, also I don't see the cooler temps going any higher then 35c, any suggestions as to what I could try next? So i just ordered a amd fx 9590 cpu and was making sure my pc will be compatable with this new investment. However my motherboard according to the Msi website isnt compatible with 200w cpu. And also under the area where it shows what cpus are compatible with my current motherboard it shows none of the amd fx 9xxx series so my question is do i need a new motherboard will my motherboard be able to work with this cpu? I also ordered a new psu which will be able to power the new cpu i got but am concerned about the compatiblity of my new cpu thank you for your help! https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/970A-G46.html#support-cpu This is a link to my motherboard and its compatibility to cpus and it shows on top its incompatible with cpus over 200w which mine is i believe over 200w.

So when I originally put this processor in my PC I saw it averaging around 4.7Ghz which was the base clock speed but i noticed in the bios that now it's only reading at 4.02Ghz and my system properties are saying the same thing. I've seen other forums with people having a similar problem and the solutions are usually either not enough power, which i don't think is the problem because i have a 1000W power supply, or that my BIOS might need to be updated, is there anything else that could be causing the problem that you guys might know about?
